Well guys, it is a special special day because I have the brand new Brian Bros special edition Tacomao wedges. Now, some of you might be a little bit confused because you might be like, “Dave, don’t you own your own golf company?” Yes, absolutely I do and I love it and I believe in all of our products. However, I’m still a bit of a golf nerd and a golf geek, I guess, when you get to it. And now that Tacomao have released some brand new wedges with the Brian Bros, it actually makes me super excited to be able to grab these wedges to bring them out and test them and see just how well they perform. Now, I have paid for these wedges with my own money. So, this is a completely unsponsored, unbiased review of the wedges. And I mean, anything Brian Bros and Tacomao, I mean, they’re really quite literally one of the biggest names in YouTube golf and also the biggest direct to consumer brand most likely on the planet. So, let’s get into it. Let’s open these bad boys up and see what they look like. Like, low key, I’m actually super super excited in testing these wedges. Um, have the invoice and everything there. If you want proof that I’ve actually paid for it, that’s it. And I think they go for in terms of price, these these things, I think it cost me $200 per wedge cuz they’re the Brian Bro special edition. So, I think if you get the standard ones, don’t worry about the invoice. If you get the standard ones, whoops, there it is. They’re a little bit cheaper. Um, and they’re I’m not 100% sure what the difference is. I just wanted the Brian Bros one obviously because it’s a special edition one and I wanted to buy it. Um, but if you do get the other one, the SF002 I think it’s called or something like that. I don’t 100% know the difference. I think there’s more bounce options, there’s more customizable options. These ones were pretty much what you get is what you get. They’re special edition. Everything is made stock and standard. Um, I did try to look through the website to see if I could lengthen the shafts. I don’t think that was an option at the time. It might be now. The grips were also just the standard grips. I couldn’t get bigger grips. So, after this initial review, I will lengthen the shaft myself, put a different grip on that’s thicker and more suitable to me. However, just at the point of ordering, um, that’s what was there. So, what did I open first? I opened the 56. I think I got the 56 and 60 or I might have got the 56 in the gap wedge. I I don’t know. Um, I think I actually got the 56 in the gap wedge. Let’s just double check cuz I don’t often use the 60 all that much to be honest. just just straight out of bunkers. Um, nice box by the way, the the Brian Bros baby blue, which is cool. And yeah. Yeah. So, I got the 52 in the 12V uh in the bounce. And I mean, like that thing looks really, really good. I love the fact that the BBO3 is also done in that baby blue color. It just personalizes it a little bit. Come on. We got to do this. We got to do this. Oh my giddy. In terms of looks, straight off the bat, I mean, it is a very clean, very sleek looking wedge. And I love the milling here on the front. What they’ve done with it, um, compared to the previous generation. I’m really hoping that you can see that, but it’s almost like a Cleveland sort of, uh, zip core style wedge. They’ve got the edgetoedge grooves, which just makes so much sense in wedges as well. Um, standard black fereral uh, KBS 120 Tour shaft, which is interesting. It’s not the KBS120 wedge shaft. I’m guessing that they’re playing pretty much the same way. And like I mentioned, just a standard I think this is just a Lamin. Yeah, just a standard Lamin grip. So, I would lengthen it and get a thicker grip on there like I mentioned before. But let’s give it a whirl. We got 77 m to this pin, which is, you know, just a basically a knockdown 56 for me, but I love playing these shots with a 56° wedge. And I will say that down by the ball, it looks really, really nice. The satin sort of finish, it’s not a chrome, it’s a brushed steel sort of look. And uh I’m a big fan of that because it means that it’s not going to shine up in your face. So, first shot with a Tacoma BB3. Not that one. That is right. Okay. So, like I mentioned before, the customizable options in these weren’t really available when I did it. So, I will need to adjust the lie angle to my 2° upright, lengthen them. So, it might take me a couple of shots here to get used to it. That’s not the wedge’s fault. That’s the the operator of the wedge. Okay, we’re we’re edging closer. That’s right. Give me two seconds. I’m going to adjust this line angle and then come back. Okay, slight problem. I can’t adjust the lie angle because it’s a cast wedge. Now, there’s many brands that actually use cast wedge. In fact, Vokei a cast wedges if you didn’t know. Tailor made use cast wedges as well. Not being forged though means that I can’t actually bend it. And the fact that this had just standard options, I couldn’t adjust the langle or anything like that at the point of purchase. I would probably suggest if you don’t want the special edition wedges and you don’t have standard specs, then get the other ones where you can actually adjust the loft and lie angle, but you’re not going to get the Brian Bros one. So, that’s a bit of a bummer. I’m just going to have to aim aim left. Struck that one crisp. Still, I’m going to see that right side, though. So, that is spinning a lot. What’s the spin of this? 10,472 backspin. Now, that is a lot of spin for a 70 m shot. This is not a full shot. This is just a Let’s get used to the wedge shot. That was nice. That was really crisp. Okay, 84. We’ll move this green back now. I’ve hit a couple and sort of warmed up again. 9,844. That’s absolutely fantastic. One of the things that I love about comp companies like Tacomao is they’re keeping their prices down and they’re constantly improving their quality. There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this even just in the first few shots that I’ve hit is significantly better quality than the previous reiteration of this wedge. So, the bounce option I have the 10F. Now, I’m not 100% versed yet on exactly what these bounces are. Um, but it feels great. So, we will get on course and test it. If you wanted me to get on course and go through this, then throw it in the comments about what you want to see about these wedges on course so that I can get that done for you as well. But let’s hit this 91 m shot. That was nice. I just got to keep low and that’s going to be perfect. Get in the hole. Oh my gosh, these are unbelievable. 9,960. All right, that’s nice, too. Little bit short. Didn’t hit it as crispy, but this is going to be a good tell in terms of the spin across the face. So, 10,358. That actually spun more even though I didn’t hit it as good as a the previous one, which is again a really good sign of the quality of the actual wedge itself. That one was nice, though. Oh my gosh. Okay, cuz they’re spinning up a lot more than what I expected being a brand new wedge. Obviously, they’re going to spin. 10,482 backspin again. I can probably actually hit this a little harder. Go past the pin and uh and let it fly back. So, let’s see if I’ve been able to do that. Get past the pin. Yeah. And let it spin back. I mean, these shots are coming out fantastically well. Maybe I actually need flatter wedges. Maybe that’s a good thing for me. Just increase the length of it a little bit. Nice. And one more to round out. 15 shots in total. That felt like the best strike. That was very pure. Wow. Okay. I have absolutely peppered the pin with this wedge. Getting a little bit lower has actually helped me. I’m thinking about maybe I should flatten the the lie angle on my wedges now. But that felt and performed in here in the simulator incredibly well. Let’s take a look at the numbers. Average shots here, 13. We just got rid of the couple of those little misfire ones that that the system read. Um launch angle 27.3. That’s kind of me. I’m typically a little bit higher on my launch angle anyway. Back spin on average 9,250. That’s incorporating the 77 m shots as well as those 90 m shots, which is absolutely fantastic. Average carry is 76.4. But if we go to this drop down and look at the last few probably since, you know what, maybe let’s just delete these 77 m ones that we hit. And then uh there’s one there that will throw the averages out a lot. Okay, so looking at the averages once we went to the full shot, which was the 91 m shot. Um, I’ve taken out the other ones. We have average ball speed 82, average launch angle 29.8. That’s me. I tend to flip at the bottom, so I launch it a little bit higher on those full shots. 10,045 backspin, which is absolutely phenomenal. Side spin, 865 left. That’s me and getting low and sort of hitting that draw sort of spin. So, the fact that I’m getting draw spin and still hitting over 10,000 is amazing. I’m only 2 yards offline. My average carry is 87.9 when I’m trying to hit a 90 m pin, and that is amazing. All right, so the 56° wedge is done. That was, as we saw, absolutely amazing. Now, we go into the 52°. Now, I currently, that just focuses there. I mean, if you take a look at that thing, that looks phenomenal. I don’t currently have a 52. I have a 50° and a 55. So, I’m thinking 100 m is going to be the number. It’s launched pretty high. Felt amazing again. Right on that number of 100 m. See what the uh backspin 9,100. Let’s straighten that up a little bit. Block that one. Oh, no. Not so bad. little bit. Right. That one felt pretty good. Bang. And then we’re right back peppering that pin again. So, in terms of accuracy, overall, these new wedges have been phenomenal. It’s again a nice one. That that could be actually in the hole if it’s got the legs. Oh, bang. So, I’ve hit three in different parts of the face there to be brutally honest with you. And they’ve all landed in and around the same spot. So, if you want to talk about forgiveness in a wedge, well, it’s definitely got that from the way that I’ve struck it. Let’s see if we can hit one nice and crispy like that. That was money. Just get in the hole. I’m actually starting to have too much fun. But let’s hit one more and then I’m going to give you a little bit of my first look unboxing impressions of these brand new Brian Bros wedges. I thinned that again. Ended up pretty well, but I can’t finish on that one. That was nice. That felt like the best one. And indeed it was. Okay. So, let’s check out the numbers here. 8,000 spin. I do tend to get a little bit less spin on my 52° and down. So, let’s check out the analysis. I think there was one of those. Yeah, one of those ones. Ball speed 88, launch angle 28.2. So, it’s come down from that, which is fantastic. Back spin has come down, which you expect, but still over 9,000 for a 52° wedge. I’ll take that every single time. My side spin is only a 100 more left. Again, I’ll take that because I’m hitting those little draws. Descent angle is almost identical. I am dead online across those. How many shots did I hit? 10. I’m actually dead online. My peak is 25 m and the carry is 99 when I was trying to hit it 100. So, in terms of the first look, the unboxing of the brand new Tacoma BB 803 Brian Bros limited edition wedges, I think they’re phenomenal. I think they’ve done an amazing job. They’ve got a little bit of different sole designs here actually which I didn’t mention. So the 52 which is a 12V a 12V sole. You’ll see this bit here actually has a little bit more sole relief. So that would get me excited using it around the greens because we have a lot of grading greens here in Queensland and that would definitely give you that relief into the grain. And then of course a 56 for me is just everything out of the bunker. Everything inside 90 m I would pretty much use this for. But as an unboxing first look, the Brian Bros wedges, are they worth the money? Absolutely. I think that for $199 a wedge, these would be the best value wedges on the market to buy. Uh the wait time I think was around about 3 weeks to get these from order. Remember that they are all custom specs. You have a 120 stiff tour shaft and a standard Lampin grip. So bear in mind that if you want something different than that, you’re going to have to have it changed. You’re also going to have to have it extended. And being a cast wedge, they can’t be manipulated. You can’t move them up. You can’t move them down. However, as they are absolutely phenomenal. Great job, Tacoma. Great job, Brian Bryce. Cheers guys.

  1. Not bad but I’d rather the pro series wedges, much cleaner looking AND u can customise loft and lie angle plus length and choice of grip💪

  2. Not to blow wind up ya but I prefer the look of your wedges. I've also heard mix reports of Takomo's QAQC when it comes to custom specs not being the same as whats been asked for and longer wait times than whats been said.

  3. Hi Dave, I like the way praise other companies products even though they are competitors of yours. Not many people around the world do that 👏👏
