Today we are comparing the new Ping i240 against the current G440. So, two clubs that sit in the Ping brand. Uh if you’re a big fan of Ping and you’re not too sure which club to go for, then today’s video is just for you. I 240 just come out. replace that i230. Uh, initial testing has been good. This is very much trying to it’s definitely for a better player, but they are trying to add some forgiveness. They’ve added in this cavity back. Okay. So, there’s the cavity in there. Um, but as you kind of put it down in that playing position, it is still got that players style to it. Okay. So, really trying to kind of blend forgiveness with kind of the feel element as well. G440 as we know, cavity back golf club cast head as is the i240. Trying to again though that ping are saying they’re trying to blend distance and feel as well. So it’d be good to hit both of these just to sort of see which one might best suit your game. Okay. Lookswise, they’re both different. Clearly the i240 to me is better on my eye. A little bit smaller, a little bit more sleek, but the G440 looks good as well. That that is definitely uh an improvement on that G430. So yeah, as I said, for me in that plane position, i240 is better looking, but you know, the the kind of G440 is, you know, a lot is quite nice and looks quite forgiving as well. So let’s start off with this i240. Loftwise quite different. 33° compared to 29° with a G440. So we are going to see clearly more distance and speed. But really, you know, this it’s just about trying to look at some numbers, give you my honest opinion, try and help you decide which one might be best because, you know, so many of my customers here, they they sometimes they they don’t really know and and just hopefully this will give you a bit of an insight into, you know, what the kind of pros and cons are, what what might be best for your game. Pretty good. Yeah, decent ball speed there. 119 off a club like this. 168 carry. That felt nice. Yeah, 170 carry. Yeah, it’s good. Yeah, it has been good. You know, it feels quite easy to hit to be fair for a club that’s probably designed more at lower handicapped golfers, but it’s certainly a step up in forgiveness compared to that Blueprint, you know, that Blueprint S in particular. It’s definitely more forgiving than that. Not a great strike. So again, distance has dropped off under about 10 yards there. So 160 compared to the the 170. Yeah, it feels pretty good. You know, they they’ve included this elastimate insert in the back uh to help with the feel. And it does feel, you know, for a cast head, it does feel quite nice, quite soft. That felt good again. Decent ball speed there. 121. Quite nice. Yeah, good. Yeah, I like it. You know, again, handicap range, I’d probably say 12 and below. There’s always odd exceptions, but yeah, I’d say 12 and below would be a good guide. Yeah, feels good. Feels good. Feels quite easy to hit. One thing I’ve been impressed with with this club is the spin number. You know, averaging at 6,000 there. So, I feel like, you know, from 170, 180, I can land it and stop it, which is what you want obviously with a 7 iron. Yeah, really nice. Yeah, that felt really consistent, quite forgiving, looks really nice on the I ticks a lot of boxes there from this new i240. Quick break. If you’re enjoying this video and want to take your game to the next level, I’ve put together a short practical ebook to help you find the right golf clubs for you based on your swing, budget, and skill level. Whether you’re a beginner or upgrading after years on the course, you can grab it right now using the link in the description below. It’ll save you time, money, and frustration. As a bonus, I’m offering a free online lesson when you buy the ebook. Back to the video. So, now into this G440. So, remember they’ve got the 730 and now we’ve got the the G440. So, this really is a game improvement club, but you know, as you look down at it, it’s definitely smaller than most cavity back clubs. So, um you know, it it does look really nice and and I’ve actually fitted quite good golfers with this. So, I wouldn’t I wouldn’t always kind of say this is for a 18 handicap golfer. You might get golfers that are maybe off eight, nine, 10 that maybe want that extra length. So, you know, it’s definitely not worth ruling out. Let’s hit a few shots. 29°. So, clearly it’s going to go a bit longer. Yeah, good. More ball speed. Yeah, the big thing they’ve done with this really is this new Pure Flex badge. You know, they’ve upgraded this badge. Uh, and really just to trying to to make it for two things really. It’s trying to increase ball speed, but it’s also there to try and improve with feel as well. And it I I I would say it’s definitely doing that. Felt nice. That was certainly louder, wasn’t it? Probably exaggerated a little bit indoors in a studio. Felt good though. Ah, so that was right off the toe. Yeah. 163. So that’s dropped 17 yards. So obviously this one is more forgiving um than the i240. Yeah, felt good. Nice. What again, what I like there though is that the the spin’s good. You know, it’s 52 for a a club of this loft. The spin is quite good. You You can see there the carry 180 finishing at 189. So, it’s not like a 29° club that’s coming out flat and running too much. The spin number is is pretty decent. Yeah. Nice. Just pulled it a smidge. Great ball speed there. 127. Good. Again. 128 ball speed. Wow. 192 carry. It’s gone a long way. Yeah. So, I mean, obviously, as we expected, this is longer. Let’s just try a couple more. Little bit off the bottom. Nice and straight, though. Yeah. It’s nice. It really is nice this club. You know, it’s I think, you know, if you are, you know, if you maybe watching this video and you’re unsure what to get, my bet is you’re probably a low double digit handicapper, I would imagine, and and you’re just trying to work out. And they both feel nice so far. I’m interested to see the numbers. Uh, both feel good. Spin feels a touch higher on that i240, but this feels good, too. Yeah. I mean certainly if yeah I mean that’s good again there you know good ball speed 125 but the spin number is good 5 and a half thousand carry 180 total 188 so yes it’s getting the distance but it’s landing and stopping which is is great that’s that’s really good for a cavity back club um let’s take a look at the dispersion to begin with okay I240 in the white G440 in the orange yeah distance uh dispersion I240 wins it by a country mile doesn’t it from a dispersion point of view? And really, if we’re going to be honest, you know, really when you’ve hitting with an iron into a green, dispersion is everything, isn’t it? So, for me, I240 is obviously the clear favorite there. And then just looking at some of the key numbers, club speed 87. Uh ball speed, yeah, 4 mph more with the the G440 as you’d expect. Launching a bit lower with the 440. Again, stronger loft you’d expect. Overall height similar spin 6,000, which I really like with that i240 and 5,100 G40, which is good for that type of golf club. Land angle again bit steeper with the i240, which is what we want. And then, yeah, I mean, distance, you know, for me, I think distance obviously is more with the 440, 180, total 190, which is is good. You know, it’s landing and stopping within 10 yards, but I240 landing at 168, finishing at 175. It’s stopping within what’s that 7 yards. Side plus or minus 25 ft, which is again very good, but plus or minus 17 ft for I240. So, you know, for me, for my game, uh, I240 hands down wins that. Um, if you’re a pretty good ball striker, don’t have to be amazing, but if you’re a fairly decent ball striker, I think the I240 would be a great club to try. If you’re after a little bit more distance, still with some nice feel, Ping G440 definitely worth trying. Thanks as always for watching the channel, guys.
