Billy Horchel criticized the Open Championship organizers for removing designated bunker rakers at this year’s tournament at Royal Portrush. Traditionally, volunteers from the British and International Greenskeepers Association handled bunker raking, helping maintain course conditions and pace of play. R&A CEO Mark Darban confirmed that for the 153rd Open, Caddis will take on bunker raking duties instead, a decision that has drawn frustration from players and analysts. Horchel called the change very odd, noting that both players and caddies appreciated the volunteers role. Four-time major champion Dame Laura Davies also expressed concern, warning the switch could slow players caddies may rush, affecting the following groups. Additionally, new bunker rates with wider gaps have made shots more challenging, impacting player performance early in the tournament. Danish golfer Jacob Scovolen leads at four under par with Lihaong joining him at Royal Portrush. Friends, what is your opinion about this?
