PXG Hellcat ZT Putter Review

This is the new PXG Hellcat ZT Putter, a traditional-looking blade putter that is zero torque and perfectly balanced. Now that sounds impossible, especially since it costs less than $250.00. So in this video, I’m going to show you exactly how it stacks up, why it’s different, how it putts, and if it actually lives up to the hype.

So, this is the new PXG Hellcat ZT putter, a traditional looking blade putter that is zero torque and perfectly balanced. Now, I know that sounds impossible, especially since it costs less than 250 bucks. And in this video, I’m going to show you exactly how it stacks up, why it’s different, how it putts, and if it’s actually lives up to all this hype. So, let’s do this. So, this all started last year when PXG released its first zero torque putter named after PXG founder and CEO Bob Parson’s late brother Allen, which is one of the most accurate putters I’ve ever used. Now, this was later followed up by the Bad Tech ZT, which was released just a few months ago. And in case you were wondering, that ZT stands for zero torque. It’s just basically a fancy way to say that the face stays square without you having to baby it through your stroke. But now with the Hellcat ZT that came out today, PXG has all the bases covered with three different head styles. So you can pick from a mallet, a mid mallet, or a blade, which is great that you’re not limited choosing between the look you want and the performance you’re looking for. So whether you’re drawn to a classic blade or prefer something beefier, you’re still going to get the same zero torque balance technology in your club. But the real question is, how does a zero torque technology even work, right? It all starts with PXG’s patented sausle design that they position the shaft so it sits just above the putter center of gravity which creates a specific toe-up balance that keeps everything stable. Bottom line, the putter fights off any twisting while you’re making your stroke, so you don’t have to work so hard to keep the club square. Now, the biggest change with the Hellcat compared to both the Allen and the Bad Attack CT is that it’s a blade. While the BadTac maintained a more traditional look, the Allen went completely unique for PXG, building the entire putter around this new technology. Now, the Hellcat takes a completely different approach. They packed all that zero torque technology into a classic blade shape, the kind you probably putter with before. I mean, my first putter was a blade, even though it was like some janky club my dad got me. Now, this familiar look is huge. When you’re standing over this club, it feels like an old friend rather than some space age experiment. And that’s exactly why I feel more golfers will finally give this zero to technology a shot. It doesn’t look intimidating. It doesn’t look weird. You get all the benefits of the technology without having to adjust something that looks completely foreign in your bag. And honestly, I can’t believe the price tag on this. At just $249, it’s not going to break the bank. Now, you usually shell out at least $450 for a zero torque putter, but this one lets you upgrade your game without that financial guilt trip. It’s priced so well that any weekend warrior can ultimately experience what Zero Torque feels like without having to explain a massive credit card charge to their wife. We all been there, right? Now, there are some pretty cool features that you can’t see from the outside of the putter, but they make a huge difference in how this putter feels and how it performs. First off, it’s milled out of 303 stainless steel. Now, this features a clean, streamlined design that delivers elite performance without the need for adjustable weighting in the club. Now, that’s pretty big. They’ve also built the Hellcat with four degrees of loft. And what’s cool is it actually plays like more like a 3°ree loft because PXG has engineered it in a one degree of forward press. Now, the face features PXG signature pyramid face pattern technology, which is a diamond shaped pyramid pattern that’s extremely thin. So, what they’ve done is by removing the weight from the front, you’re going to get a better feel and sound even on that really thin face. But those little pyramids aren’t just for show. They actually help grip the ball and get it rolling end over end much faster. Now, we’ve all had putters that have had a few degrees of loft that can make the ball hop at first. And this texture helps combat that bounce and achieves a more smoother roll and putt. But what really blows me away is how this thing feels butter soft compared to other zero torque putters I’ve used. Now, if you’re coming from a regular stainless steel putter, you’re going to immediately notice the softer sound and feel. The sound’s muted and the ball comes off at a touch slower, too. So, you’re going to need to give it a little bit more juice at first, which I think is probably from those face pyramids, but I have no idea because I’m not a professional putter. But once you dial in the speed, which takes like 5 minutes on the practice screen, the zero torque effect is pretty wild. Now, some putters claim this technology, but don’t deliver. This one, it literally feels like it’s on autopilot. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like it just glides back and forth like it’s on invisible tracks. You don’t have to overthink it. You don’t have to manipulate it. You just have to let it ride. And the feel and the speed takes some getting used to, but that’s nothing compared to how stable this thing actually is. Even when you catch one towards the toe or the heel, it’s still going to roll pretty true. The bottom line is the Hellcat ZT could be a real game changer for your putting. So, if you’ve been thinking about getting a new putter, be sure to put this one on your short list. The technology actually works and the traditional blade shape is not going to freak you out. And the best part is the performance backs it up and you have nothing to lose when it’s $249 price tag, which to me is just insane for a zero torque putter. Guys, I really hope you enjoy this one. If you can like and comment down below what your thoughts are on the PXG Hellcat ZT putter, have you ever used a zero torque putter? Would you prefer a lab putter over a PXG putter or vice versa? I would love to know. And also, if you can do a huge favor and subscribe to the channel, I would so appreciate it. But if you want to see what happened when I got fitted for the PXG Allen putter and made the craziest putt of my life thanks to Mr. short game, then check out this video right here.
