Adam Long spoke to Coleraine TV after his summer move to the Bannsiders.
Adam, welcome to Korean football club. Um, you signed with us last week. We’re getting to sit down with you the first time now on our first day of preseason. Um, talk us through what the last couple of weeks have been like as the days sort of started to come together. Um, the last few weeks been really busy. Obviously came over and signed last week and then just ever since then just been in between getting stuff over just trying to sort out where I’m going to be. Uh and talk us through about about your early footballing life. You know, you grew up in Man, obviously a place that loads of Korean fans will be familiar with with the with the TT. Yeah. But what was life like growing up on man? Really quiet. It’s only as some people may know it’s only a small place. So, it’s one of them ones where everyone knows everyone really. Um and then just played local football over there with friends. I love having a left footed center back. the balance. Um he’s physically he’s obviously a great size. He’s got a presence about him. He’s he’s really talented on the ball. I like his profile and and we needed um a left footed center back and he’s the one we went after. I’ve spoken to quite a few people in England uh that have worked with him at close quarters and the feedback has always been the same um that he’s got a he’s got a high ceiling and he just needs to find a home and hopefully we can provide that for him and and he can kick on because there’s no doubt that if he fulfills his potential and and and again that’ll be his choice. That’ll be his choice. if he fulfills his potential um he can have a really really good career. So I um signed for Wigan for my scholarship when I was 16 and stayed there uh done digs for two years and then stayed on for another three after that before going down to Doncaster and then to filed after. And what um what was life like in Wigan? Life were good. Yeah, I really I really enjoyed it. I feel like it was a nice place to be for me especially growing up. I was only there when I was young and then the host family and the club and everything were really supportive. Well, ever since I spoke to the gaffer, me and him sat down, we had a zoom meeting and um just like his plans for what he wanted to do this year and his idea of how he wants to play football was just something that really enticed me to come. I think the facilities here are unbelievable. I mean, two gyms on site, sauna in the changing rooms, loads of places for recovery. I mean, the pitch is pitch is great. Stadium’s lovely as well. He’s good use of the ball and uh but his job again like Cody and like the other defenders will be to keep the ball out of the back of their own net. Um that sounds old school, but it’s playing lovely stuff is great and exciting supporters is great, but when the ball comes in your box, you’ve got to defend and um that’ll be his first job. Uh, and once he gets that part done, I we we’ll we’ll try and utilize his left foot as best we can. I’d like to play out pass the ball. I feel like that’s what people can expect. That’s what I’d like to bring to the table. I feel like that’s like my way of playing football. I’m looking forward to it. I mean, on the aspect of moving over, I’ve done it before, so I’m fairly uh fairly accustomed to it. I feel like all the lads are just kind of happy to be back. I feel like everyone in the changing room, staff, players, fans included, they all want, they have big hopes to win stuff and then that’s what we really aim to do. Fantastic. Well, we’re excited to have you. Look forward to seeing you play. Cheers.
