Team Discraft is stacked and on fire this season. We dive into that, Krokhol, and a whats coming down the pike.
Team Disc is stacked. Let’s talk about that. This is Honest Ape Disc Golf. Hey guys, what’s going on? Honest Abe coming at you with another video today. Today will be a little short video, but I just kind of want to talk about Team Discraft. But first, I wanted to talk about uh Krokal. Uh if you guys missed it, it was this past weekend and uh it it seemed like a great tournament. Krokal is the number one disc golf course in the world. Would love to get over to Norway eventually to try to try to play it at some point. I think it would be very, very fun. And of course, the European Discolf Festival is starting here soon as well. another event I would love to get to at some point in my life and just go over and just kind of see everything that is going on over in Estonia. But yeah, guys, it’s uh it’s pretty cool disc golf. We are in the thick of it right now. And you know, I I enjoyed watching uh Kro for the most part. Um did not enjoy the playoff. A lot of people have already been talking about it. I thought it was kind of boring. is over. Exactly, Laney. It was kind of boring. And yeah, so just kind of that the repeat of 18. Uh but congrats to Benjamin Callaway and getting his first Elite Series win there. Uh but anyways guys, uh yeah, so congrats to Ben on his win at the Krokal Open there in Norway. Great win for him, his first one. Adam Hamus, another Discraft guy. Ben Callaway, Discraft, Discraft. Uh, Ezra Aerhold, Discraft. Ezra Robinson, Disc. And so, yeah, today I just wanted to quickly talk about Team Disc. And what they got going on, man, because it is it is great uh what Team Disc has got. They have everybody, it seems like. They got Paul McBth. They got Ricky Weissaki and his little raptor legs. Uh but yeah, they got a great team over there at DisCraft and it is definitely showing out for sure this year uh in the tournaments, the Elite Series tournaments in the majors. Yeah. So, Team Disc is stacked, man. I mean, they just they seem to have everybody on their team and they’re all playing actually really well. And a lot of people who have not won yet uh this year have won with Team Disc. Ezra Robinson got his first win, Team Disc. Adam Hamus got his first win, Team Disc. Ben Callaway got a win, Team Disc. I mean, even guys like Goose, he won down under. Uh, and, uh, I know it wasn’t an elite series or anything. I think it was an A tier, but he won this year. Ezra Aderhold won this year. First win for Team Disc. Uh, and and the one the one that I’m hoping, the one I’m hoping is Brody Smith. I would love for Brody Smith to get a win this year, just kind of on this final edge comeback type thing. I think it would be so cool to see Brody win one uh this season. He’s been close in the past, but he kind of fell off past two seasons and he even said he had a bad season last season. Uh but but yeah, I would love to see Brody, but yeah, most of the guys that I cheer for and root for one, they’re they’re no longer on Team Prodigy uh because they’ve moved. So like the Robinson brothers, love those guys. Um but uh but yeah, so like but a lot of them are in team discraft right now and so Ezra got his win. The other Ezra got his win. I watch those guys and I watch Goose as well uh for him and Ezra Aderhold. They do those preview videos uh for every tournament. Love watching those for those guys. So the guys that I I follow and I watch, all of them have basically won a tournament. Isaac Robinson’s won this year as well, but with Latitude 64. So, all of those guys have won. But man, yeah, Team Discraft, they got it going on. They are for sure the goats of disc golf right now with everything that they got going on, man, with the plastics, with their team. I would love to see more coming out for them. You know, Big Nate, my son, he is a big disc guy. He’s got a Luna. He’s got the Brody Smith thrasher. Uh he’s got the Ezra Ederhole nuke. Uh so he he’s he’s got he’s got a lot of discs from Discraft and he enjoys throwing discraft. Uh the the main one that I have is the I bought the Ezra Robinson Buzzra and I do enjoy that. That’s an SS Buzzra and it flies straight as can be. So I actually went and grabbed some of my uh my discraft disc. So yeah, this is my uh my Buzzra. Uh really really love this disc. Uh, it flies straight. Even though I am a prodigy guy, I do enjoy throwing uh the buzz. And then I also do have my lovely, lovely buzz saw. And I like this very overstable. Very like it a lot. Uh, the heat. Uh, this is a discraft heat. I have not thrown this a whole lot, but I do enjoy that. This one also glows, which is really, really cool. And it’s got the I got a three stamp from, uh, from the tournament that I just played in at Athens Regional. And then of course I got my pink swarm um that uh that Big Nate also got me as well. And he throws a swarm as well. And so I love I I’m starting to love Discraft’s uh discs and plastic. I need to get a few more. I only have a handful of them right now, but I tell you what, man. Uh they just they got a good thing going on uh this season, and I’m really really enjoying watching uh those guys throw those discs. And like I said, I need to get a few more just so I can learn how to throw some of them uh right now. And uh and very very just kind of looking forward to getting more and more of their product in my hand so I can test it out for you guys in upcoming videos. I’m sorry. I’m wrestling with Laney right now. Uh but uh but yeah, guys, uh Team Disc is just he’s got it going on. They got it going on. All right, so looking down the pike here, we have the European Disc Golf Festival coming to Estonia and uh I I am really really liking Ezra Aderhold um to just either pump that thing out or even Ricky Weissaki. Uh man, like he was so close. He had such a tough tough like end on that first round at Kro going OB on 18 and then he did the exact same thing the final round when he was making a push back. all he had to do was birdie and then it would have been I think a four-way tie for the playoff and he went OB and and then that was the end of his his tournament. Uh but but yeah, all those guys they’re with team Disc they just keep winning no matter what. They just keep winning. Love I would I would love to see Goose. Goose has been playing good as of late as well. Love to see him do well at the European uh disc golf festival. uh you know if him or Ezra Aerhold would win or Ezra Robinson that’d be great. Uh Ricky Wasaki I think has got a good shot. I think he won it last year uh as well and now he’s with team discraft. So then you got worlds coming after that back-to-back majors and I would love to see Isaac Robinson three repeat. Of course he’s not with team discraft but he is with Latitude 64. Uh, and I think he’s got a good shot at it. And then on on the on the women’s side, man, of course, you know, Holland Hanley, she’s with Team Disc. They got a lot of people over there uh on Team Discraft. I think Missy Gan is with Team Discraft. Paige Pierce. Uh, there’s several there’s several. And they they got they got a good good female team as well, and they are just rolling as as they go along in the season. So, it’s it’s really really fun to watch. I do wish we would have some sort of team competition because disc golf, you are part of a team for the brand, but there’s no real team matchups. And I would love to see disc golf do something with the teams. Uh, and just coming down the road here, throw it at one of the tournaments and just say, “Hey, you get a you get a pack of four uh people. You pick your four that you want to play. Maybe they do it on on a Wednesday before the tournament or something and do a team match uh for the the the product names like so so Prodigy, Discraft, Latitude 64, uh Dismania, all those guys. They’d make a team like teams of four and they would compete for points. You can go by hole by hole or whatever and uh and and do that. I think that would be really really fun to watch like the match plays that they are doing right now as well. I just think that would be such a fun little ad to disc off because a lot of people, a lot of amateurs, we tend to stick to a a brand or two. We find a brand, we find a niche that we really like. Me, I like Prodigy a lot. I love their discs. I love their plastic. Uh, and I’m branching out. I am branching out a little bit. You know, I got some Latitude 64 stuff. I have um some uh some Discraft stuff now. And and so I’m branching out a little bit trying to find some things. I got several MVP discs now um that I’m that I’m starting to like and throw. And so I think for me personally, Mixed Bag is coming uh pretty soon. But still, a lot of amateur players, they tend to stick to a brand name and they are brandame fans uh along with the players that they follow, which is of course my case as well. And I follow a lot of guys. are not with Prodigy anymore, but they are now still playing and with different sponsors like Disc. So, I tell you what, guys, uh the the the future of disc golf is looking bright. You know, the we had the boom uh during COVID. I’ve been I’ I’ve been playing for 20 years uh since college. I started playing in college, took several years off, you know, had some kids and whatnot. got back into it as my boys got older and then we have another baby and we’re and we’re back in it. We’re back playing. We play at least two or three times a week trying to catch a tournament every single month as well. The boys really wanted me to get my PDGA number and to get out there and start playing tournaments instead of just playing for fun. So, I’m excited for what’s going to be going on in the future for us as well for this channel especially getting out to more and more courses, showing those guys to you. I still have several videos stored on my phone that I have not put out for you guys yet. So, like down and then the Georgia courses, I did a lot of little like course little previews, walkthroughs, and I still haven’t gotten those videos up and loaded to you guys yet. And know that’s some more of the stuff that I want to get out to you is is kind of course previews. Just kind of looking at a course. What shots do you need? There’s still Oh my gosh, there’s still like six courses up in the Morristown area and there’s still like six or seven in Knoxville that I haven’t done for you guys yet. Uh just preview courses. And so I want definitely want to get those guys out to you as soon as we can. Life’s been busy, things happen. Uh, but definitely want to continue pushing out videos for you guys. But all in all, disc golf is in a great position. It’s in my heart. My daughter’s about to turn two and I’m going to get her the little kid disc golf set uh for her birthday uh this year because she loves pulling disc out of my bag and just chucking them around. Getting a handful of minis for her just to throw around as well. But I’m loving it. I’m loving disc golf. I’m loving doing these things for you guys right now. Things are good. I’m honest.
