Marco Penge reflects on a grinding round in tougher conditions, posting a 69 despite not having his best game. The Englishman talks about the shift in wind, how he’s maintained strong form for months, and the value of competing at the highest level. Drawing on past wins and his gritty mindset, Penge looks forward to the challenge of the final round and the chance to be in contention again.

Marco, you didn’t deserve that lip out on 18, especially at that speed, but I mean it was a solid 69 today, wasn’t it? Yeah, it was uh a little bit up and down at times, but um you know, my short game was really good and I felt feeling great with a putter this week, which is something that hasn’t been there for the last kind of four, five since I won really. I haven’t puted well. So to be feeling comfortable over the putter again is uh really important for a golf course like this and a tournament like this. So, um, yeah, I’m seeing some really positive signs. I just need to tidy up a few areas. I get the feeling that you were a little bit disappointed coming off 18 that you didn’t make up more ground and that you might have actually lost some to the field. Were you surprised to see where you stand? Uh, yeah, I did have a little peek at the leaderboard on 16 and saw that I was kind of only one off the lead and I was a bit like, well, okay, this is pretty I must be, you know, everyone else is finding it really tough out here. So, um, obviously it was frustrating to bogey the last, but you know, there’s only so many times you can keep getting up and down. And, uh, I kind of said that to my caddy on the course. I said, I got to stop leaving these sixfooters because at some point I’m going to miss one. But I did a really good job of managing it today. On a day where you didn’t have your best golf and you had felt like you had to grind it out a lot and you are where you stand on that leaderboard, you must take so many positives from that. Yeah, I mean, you know, in in full round event, you’re going to have moments where you got to really dig in and um to do that against the best players in the world and the, you know, the toughest of conditions. It’s uh yeah, it’s um really motivating going into tomorrow. And, you know, whether I bring my aame or not tomorrow, I’ve kind of got some good proof from today that I can still find a way to get it round. I know there’s lots of golf, but just 18 holes. What would it mean for you to win your first Reluct series event and earn your Caddy one of those golden bibs? Yeah, I mean it would be uh I don’t even know I don’t even know where to start with that. Um obviously be awesome to to win, but I’m not really got my um thoughts on that right now. It’s kind of just focusing on my stroke average trying to keep that as low as possible. Um that was my goal at the start of the year was to keep it under 70 and I’m probably at about 69.5 right now. So, I’m just chipping away at that and see what that brings me, I suppose. Well, hopefully a lot of luck tomorrow. Thank you very much. Thank you.
