Pine cones are acorns? Just that means you should give him free relief. To be "plugged" the ball has to be in its own pitch mark. See rule 16.3a(2). So no relief for Gaz. Gawz played from a wrong place so loss of hole.

The embedded ball. Hasnt embedded in its own pitchmark as ground is too hard, however what caused the hole? Obviously if a ref agrees an animal, burrowing animal relief. In matchplay, i would have given my opponent benefit of the doubt and offered a free drop, in a medal???

The pinecone made a hole. The ball went into it. That would get relief because the hole has become a man-made obstruction.
This also could be ruled as ground under repair because there are holes in the ground, and the area appears untended or left to nature, unless it is marked as a hazard or within the out-of-bounds area. Just my opinion. But in a match between friends, that would get scorecard length relief. Place the ball anywhere within a scorecard length but you may not clean it.

Stix is an awesome starter set. The drivers definitely need some work but the irons, wedges, and putters are decent
I think golfers in general have this ability to be totally anal lol. Plugged or acorn hole is worth maybe 30 seconds in a normal world. Although a bit of trolling to mess with your opponent's head is always good fun.
