the support since uh since I won playing Canadian Tour, playing locally growing up and um having some success with Canadian junior golf. I think uh that’s definitely helped cuz 2025 Memorial Tournament is heating up under some seriously challenging conditions. Rain didn’t just dampen spirits on Friday, it reshaped the entire playing field at Murfield Village, testing every player’s grit and skill. But amidst the storm, two names surged to the top. Ben Griffin and Nick Taylor. Both seasoned winners this season, they stood strong at seven. Underpar by the end of day two, leading a star-packed leaderboard that’s tighter than ever. If you love golf drama, make sure to like, share, and follow for more updates because this weekend at the Memorial is one you won’t want to miss. The rain softened the course, making it more playable yet demanding precision like never before. Birdies became a rare treat while bogeies lurked behind every shot. Nick Taylor with his flawless second round 68 emerged as the only player without a single blemish. A true testament to his ironclad game. Taylor summed it up perfectly, stressing the importance of staying in the fairway, especially in these soggy conditions where rough shots mean tough chips and delicate recoveries. Not far behind the leaders world number, one Scotty Sheffller kept pace with back-to-back 70s, sitting at four under. Sheffller knows his course inside out and understands just how brutal the wet rough can be. It’s definitely important to keep the ball in play and try and stay dry. He admitted despite some missed putts and a couple of costly mistakes, Sheffller’s consistent ball striking keeps him firmly in contention. The round of the day was stolen by Sheffller’s close friend Sam Burns, who lit up the scoreboard with six birdies and an eagle. His 11st stroke improvement from Thursday’s round transformed him from barely making the cut to suddenly a legitimate title contender. Burns isn’t alone in making waves. Russell Henley’s 68 came in the heaviest rain, while Jordan Spyth and Xander Schuffle rode their late day momentum to climb the leaderboard, sitting at three under and two under, respectively. Ben Griffin, despite battling wet, rough, and tricky lies, displayed championship composure. His even par round was a grind, but with 13 greens in regulation and key recoveries, he maintained his share of the lead. Griffin’s steady performance is a reminder that sometimes resilience beats flare, especially on a course playing long and tough. Other names to watch include Akshai Batia at five under, Shane Lowry, Tom Hogue, Colin Morakawa, and the ever dangerous Xander Shoff. All lurking within striking distance. This leaderboard is stacked with talent. Each player eyeing the coveted Memorial Trophy, Justin Thomas deserves a shout out, too. Rebounding impressively after a rough first round. His 11stroke bounceback performance secured him a spot in the weekend mix despite being overpar overall. If anyone knows how to handle roller coaster rounds, it’s JT.
