This is Steph Curry’s first ever 1v1 golf match on YouTube — and it’s no casual round. We played 18 holes, straight up. No strokes, no partners, just a head-to-head battle to see what happens when one of the best athletes in the world brings his golf game to YouTube for the first time.

Steph isn’t just an NBA legend — 4x Champion, 2x MVP, greatest shooter of all time, NBA highlights — he’s also legit on the golf course. He’s a +1 handicap who’s played in multiple Korn Ferry Tour events, made an eagle at Augusta, and consistently finishes at the top of the leaderboard at the American Century Championship. His short game is sharp, his swing is clean, and he’s as competitive on the course as he is on the court.

The stakes:
If Steph loses, he has to call up another NBA player and personally convince them to play me in a future match.
If I lose, I have to caddy for him at the American Century Championship — full tournament, heavy staff bag, walking all 18.

This is Steph Curry’s first ever 1v1 golf match on YouTube. Wa! It’s about time that I slept. All right. So, today we have probably my biggest match ever yet to date. Today I’m here with Callaway and I am playing a match against Steph Curry, fourtime NBA champion and greatest shooter of all time. Plus, he’s not just the greatest shooter of all time. He is an unbelievable golfer. I’ve never met him before. I’ve never played with him before, but I know that everyone says he is an incredible golfer. So, we are going to play a straightup 1v one match today. I don’t know how this is going to go. I heard he’s great, but we’ll see what he’s willing to do as far as punishment goes. But, I think today is going to be an incredible day. Huge shout out to Callaway for putting this together. And here we go. Straight up 1 v one with the greatest shooter of all time, who is an incredible golfer. And this is a great way to start off my partnership with Callaway. Huge thank you to them. I’ve never been to San Francisco or anywhere in this area. been to LA like a million times. It’s totally different. This is awesome. Like I love it here. We were just saying we’re like we could move here. Like this is awesome. I live 10 minutes away and I’m not Oh yeah. Yeah. This is awesome. Uh got out here two days ago. Yeah. Did you get into the city? No, we didn’t get to go there yet. But we’ve just been in Palo Alto. Yeah. It’s really nice there. Yeah. But squad too. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. This is the first shoot. This is it. Yeah. So, I got the Tai Fusion irons, which they put me in the X Forged, I think, in the beginning, which is great, but took a lot of yardage off. So, this is like perfect for me. How often do you play? Like once a week or every single day? Like, I play probably twice a month. Okay. Um, and then in the summer, I play probably three times a week. Oh, that’s great. That’s great. As you can see by that tempo and that sound, I got to bring my aame if I’m going to win this thing. We’re have a little one v one match. Talk about the latest and greatest in the world of golf. Everything she’s doing and Callaway’s got going on. Neat. So, we had this idea of, you know, like it’s not really a it’s not really one v one if there isn’t a punishment. Oh, yes. Oh, that’s such a good shot. Um, so it’s not really like a a fair, it’s not a real pressured match if there’s no, you know, end goal. You’re you’re talking my my language. Yes. So, we wanted to give you the opportunity to come up with a punishment for me. Okay. But I feel like you’ve thought about this already and have one for me already. I definitely Yeah, I definitely. All right. But feel free. I could tell you what we’re thinking so you’re in the same realm. Okay. Okay. So, we’re thinking if I win, you have to call up another NBA player and kind of convince them to play another one v1 against me. Yeah. She would pass it on. Pass the beat down on. That’s that is diabolical. Otherwise, exactly. Like, if it’s if it’s LeBron, like it’s LeBron. Like, you know what I’m saying? It’s up to you. You saw You saw his swing. So, you got you can come up with it yourself or we can give you some ideas, but I I have a feeling you’re going to be pretty good at that coming up with a punishment. I I have I have one. We I played in a pro golf tournament. Yeah. My dad cattied for me. We brought the tour staff back and it was torrential downpour. It was the worst weather that this state had ever seen and he was like he’s like, “What’d you sign me up for?” It was horri. It was a nightmare. It really was a nightmare. Oh, that’s perfect. I’ve got my work cut out for me today. Well, I really do. Like, it’s going to be difficult. That’s What’s your handicap? Do you have a handicap? Absolutely. Say what? Do you have a handicap? I do. Right now it is a plus one, but that’s some a little a little vanity in there cuz I had, you know, two good rounds and I’ve only played probably 20 times this year. So there’s a lot of excuses coming out of me. No, no, that’s okay. We’re at the exact same number. So it’s going to be perfectly even. Plus one. That’s insane. And he only played like 20 rounds this year. That’s Let’s do it. I don’t understand. Steph, the the tips are 6,300 yards. So neither one. He’s going to drive the green. Yeah, we’re both flying blind right now. Yeah, we never seen I’ve only I’ve only seen two holes and I don’t even know which holes they are. We are going to do a ninehole match, one v one straight up with fourtime NBA champion and the greatest shooter of all time, plus an incredible golfer. Very underrated. People don’t realize how incredible he is. It’s like a plus one handicap. So, we’re going to do a one v one straight up match with Steph Curry. Let’s freaking go. I appreciate the uh the opportunity. Um I’m very excited. This is going to be awesome. Everything you just said does not help me in this match. So all that basketball accolade stuff, it’s nice to hear, but I got to do it out here. Yeah, it’s going to be it’s going to be a tough one. We’re pretty evenly matched golf gamewise, but he’s very very very good. And I have a feeling the mindset is just unreal. Unmatched. I’m I’m going to start doing this when I play my opponent. I’m going to hype him up so when I beat him, make it make it even better. I appreciate the love though. Exactly. Exciting. And we’re gonna do punishments as well. That’s right. That’s right. That’s right. I think a one v one match is not really that intense unless there’s a punishment. So, if I win, you’re going to call up another NBA player who plays golf. Yes. And basically try and convince them to play a 1 v one with me next time. Got a couple guys in mind. Okay. And then yours if you win. If I win uh next year at the American Century at Lake Tahoe, uh the win the Thursday practice round, Gabby has to carry my new official not yet created tour bag that’s going to be uh extremely heavy and extremely loud. You got to carry it for 18 holes. It’s going to be heavy, but I’m willing. Okay. I’m I It’s not much of a punishment for me. I’m excited. Like either way, it’s Either way, it’s a win. All right. I’m telling you guys, this may be not only is it my best best match yet, but also my most evenly matched shot. I love it. I love it. I It’s never going to get more straight up than this because you could say straight up, but usually there is like one or two off the handicap. But this is going to be Guess that’s what keeps golf fun. Like obviously if you get around the same neighborhood as your skill set like throwing the strokes away and just having fun like Exactly. I’m not a big fan of strokes. Nah, I think it’s, you know, I don’t know. A lot of people cheat at prom. That’s my take. That is a good point. That is a good point. You never want to be in that category. All right, so I just got finished with my run. Now I’ve got to go play 18 holes. So, today got a very long day and I don’t really have time for breakfast. I uh I respond. I don’t really instigate that much. I do all like the weird mannerisms and shimmies and facial expressions, but like the actual trash talk. I’ll go back if somebody comes at me. Yeah. We back it up though. So, but yeah, the mannerisms and all that type of stuff. Like I just try to have fun as much as possible. Like there’s no better feeling than being out there like you know showing your creativity, the work that you put into the game when it actually goes. And then I’ve been shimmyed on like towing it in my face too. So you got to be able to take the good with the bad. So Oh yeah. It’s not It’s not easy out there. Not at all. Do you trash shot on the golf course or uh way more out here? Way more out here. So I got What do you got here? I got 135. But this is not a great lie at all. So, we are gonna go off the club a little bit because I don’t want to hit a dead out of this. That was pretty much expected from them. That’s a That’s just unfair lie. Wow. That was a terrible lie. So, I got to make this basically I got to chip it in or at least chip it really close and see what happens. How often are you playing these days? Like every day pretty much. Pretty much every day, but we’ve been traveling a lot more, so like I don’t get to play, you know, on travel days and stuff like that. But, you know, we’re filming content all this time. It’s like grinding this stuff doesn’t just happen, you know, you got to work for it. Oh jeez. What the heck? On the first. That’s all right, though. Good putt. Slow it down. But when a little bit of nerves kick in and you don’t really know what to do, that’s going to happen. We’ve got eight more holes. And it’s true. I’m pretty confident that it will come together, especially on the next hole. Now I know everything about the greens and the rough and everything like that. Um, see how it is playing with obviously haven’t played in this, I guess, this grass before, but we’ll see what happens. You caught me at a very interesting time. Uh, cuz this is off season, right? And my, like I said, my Super Bowl week is the American Century in Lake Tahoe. I won it two years ago. Um, and I get to play in it this coming week. So, I’ve been in like a boot camp with my golf coach. I get to see him for about three or four days. That could go either way, right? That could confuse the hell out of you for sure. Where you’re like, I don’t know what swing thought I have or it could kind of dial you in. So, I’m finding out on the fly right now. I love that. So, is your like is your pre-shot routine on your golf swing or before you hit the ball more superstitious than your free throw routine or is it Oh, no. free throw routine like and I try for both I try not to take too much time over the ball. So same thing with the free throw like my free throw routine is I catch the ball, take a deep breath, I look at the rim and then every court on the free throw line there’s a nail in the uh hardwood that’s in line with the front of the rim. So I put my right foot on it and then it’s almost like I’m almost is like a a pre-shot routine stance thing. So I put my right foot on the nail then to the right left one dribble and shoot like try to have that same kind of tempo. So So it’s more superstitious than way more out here in on basketball court. I out here I think I still try to figure out what is the right uh pre-shot routine but I agree though less thinking the better. Less thinking the better. Great shot. I am pretty sure that’s going to be perfect. I got a lot of nods over there. I’m hoping that that means good things. Like that one. You like that one? Um super excited to see how they kind of take to the game once they get a little better at it. But would you rather um your daughters be in the WNBA or on the LPGA? Oh, just selfishly the LPGA because I’d love to travel around and watch them play golf. Play golf all day long. Uh, I have a godsister who’s playing in the WNBA right now, Cameron Brink. Yeah, I love that. If that makes sense. So it’s a little bit of both. These are two really good shots. Pretty much the same distance. I’m just a little bit out but I like it better. He’s like, “Just go run that dune.” I’m like, “All right, bet.” And then we turn it into a legitimate workout. That’s like how much harder is that than running on like a beach or something. Infinitely harder. Yeah. That’s just every step feels like four and you’re just grinding. But there’s no better training than that cuz um you’re putting yourself in crazy crazy positions. You need the G. I’m good right now. I just need to know where to go. I think we’re back here. This driver lesson driver. Where would you want to live if you didn’t live in the US and you had to live somewhere else? Where would you want to live? What’s the best country that you’ve been to? Me and my wife would love We probably start in France. We love We love Paris. Not just because of what happened last year, but we love it. Um, we spent a lot of time over there. We live in Toronto cuz that’s where she’s from. I lived up there for three years when I was growing up, so we’re familiar with it. Yeah. Outside of those, like we do like to travel and be adventurous. So, who knows after that? This is a pretty incredible spot. You don’t have to really leave here. That’s fact. This is home for sure. Like I have I would say two or three friends that that close friends that I’ve played tournaments with since I don’t know since I was like 5 years old. Yeah. And they all played the underrated tour and they loved it. Like the stories and also just like they just the travel’s unreal. They get to see all these places they never seen before. It’s awesome. And I just was like, and then as you went on, you were fine. I was fine after that. Yeah. There’s nothing that can prepare you for that, though. Just like that. This is what they came to see, people. This is what they came to see. People are going to think that that low drive is like not what I’m trying to do, but it is 1,000% in intentional. This is a 90 degree driver. Is it really? Yeah. The finals like the first finals appearance in the team. That was the first time like I really understood the state except there’s no greater basketball than this. Like in college you play in a tournament at that moment it’s like this is the greatest basketball ever played. So you got jitters that try to meet the moment but when you get to the finals it’s like you know the whole entire world is watching. Yeah. You know what it means historically if you can you know get it done. So like that working through that in 2015 was nothing like it. And then obviously 16 we lost the comeback and all that to your point about coming back from something that was the first time you had to deal with failure actually figure out all right what’s next but 15 finals nothing like we said about like you know being in college basketball and that to you at the at the time seems like the most important thing and then it only gets more and more we were just talking about this the other day like when it comes to pressure you think it’s the most pressure in the situation that you are in right now but there’s always something that could be more 100% pressure more nerves.
