Has Mizuno just made their best muscle-back irons ever? The new Pro S-1 irons have the best look and feel I have ever seen from Mizuno, and that’s saying something since I’ve played many different models over the years.

Look what has just arrived. We have the new Mazuno S1 muscle back irons. I mean, you’re seeing them for the first time and so am I. Has Mazuno gotten even better with these new muscle back irons? hand. Are are these something you should consider as an option in your set? Oh my goodness, these are so clean and beautiful looking. We need a 10-second montage. So Mazuno has sent me the pitching wedge, 6ironir, and four iron to check out. So we’re going to go over kind of what’s new and improved about these. We’re going to give you a feel number so you know what they feel like. They feel even better than ever. And then we’ll give you some numbers so you can see how they stack up compared to what you would hope a pitching wedge, sixiron, and four iron would go because ultimately you want to know if a blade is something that you might consider in your bag. They sure look beautiful, but I want a blade that looks incredible, feels incredible, performs awesome, and that I can mish hit, still get away with it, and get the distance I’m looking for. I want everything. So, do you. So, these clubs, we still have a nice thin top line. That’s the top that you stare at when you’re about to hit the shot. I like a thinner top line. Just looks sleeker to me. Feel more confidence for me personally. Now, they said what they’ve done is improved the turf interaction with the club by sharpening the leading edge, but adding an a degree of bounce on the clubs. So, that degree of bounce is how much that sole comes, let’s say, above or below that leading edge. So, if you like this, it would come up. It’d be this way. So, we have one degree of bounce with a sharper leading edge. So, we can get into the turf, but it won’t dig and stick. Something cool about this is they have what they call a harmonic impact technology. What is that? Well, that’s where you gather the audio sound and vibration of the club when it hits the ball and you adjust that so it gives you like the perfect amount of feel when you hit a shot. Harmonic impact technology. Sounds like they made it up, but it’s legit. I looked it up. So, here we go. This will be the first shot. We’ll start with the pitching wedge. We’ll do six irons, four irons. We’ll get a kind of just an overall judgment on feel, how they feel, where they go. Are they going where I’m looking? Are they feeling like I’m hoping? First shot ever. Mazuno. That’s our one. I got to say, I got to say, looking down at this, it looks like what I’ve been looking for. I hate a chunk of metal down there. This is just a sleek piece of engineering. Here we go. [Music] I have to say the feel is Mazuno excellence. I can’t say they’re better than other Mazuno blades, but they’re equally as good and they look incredibly clean and sleek. And I did and am hitting it pretty straight where I’m aiming it and I’m able to kind of just work it a little fade, little draw right in there. So for that it’s great. I have not checked my numbers yet. So we’re going to do that and see exactly what we’re getting. But so far the height of the sixiron was remarkable and the 4 iron. So those are spectacular. I love the feel of the head. I can really feel the weight of that. Now that’s always a shaft head combination type of arrangement. I have a 105 uh stiff S300 dynamic gold steel shaft with that. So, that’s kind of what I play normally, but for whatever reason, I can really feel the head weight. And I like that cuz I can feel at the top of my swing down through impact and I feel like I can control that club face when I can feel it. If it gets too light, I struggle with that. So, here we go. Numbers on the pitching wedge. Come on. I’m rooting for you cuz it’s been feeling good. Here we go. What’s the distance? Oh, that just feels so perfect there. 121 carry. Okay, now I’m just going to take my pitching wedge that I’ve been playing just to get make sure for the day. Apples to apples. Here we go. Same range ball, same everything. Okay, I hit that really good. That’s 125 on the day with these balls. The look comparison is night and day. I love the look of these Mazunos. One more pitching wedge and we’ll move to sixiron just to know. I just got uh like three or four more yards with my club. Four more yards. It’s not a big deal. Nice and high shot one. That one went 128. All right, pitching wedge checks all the boxes. So far so good. All right, sixiron. My current sixiron is traveling today with the balls that we have. I hit that great 174 carry. Perfect. These were my gamer clubs. Currently, it’s got a much thicker top line and it’s a kind of more of an offset look. The look here is just cleaner, more squared up, not offset, meaning the shaft is ahead of the head at all. Thin top line. This is a look I like. If I get 174 out of this, I’m going to be pretty impressed. 168 on that one. Not bad. I don’t think I hit it perfectly. That’s going to be one of the challenges with blades is the m hits. It’s going to force you to practice more cuz you want to eliminate more mits. But I don’t want mish hits out on the golf course either. I want my m hits to be decent. But I also want to be able to work the ball how we need to work it. 165 carry. That’s pretty good. It feels amazing. Nice soft feel off the club face. There’s no tingy, no clankiness. It’s just a nice soft feel. 168 carry. So, like six yards shorter than my Gamer currently, but the look is incredible. Let’s see where we are with the 4 iron. The 4 iron is going to be the toughest one in the set to hit. Typically, I swap these out for a nice, easy, forgiving 4iron. But, let’s just see what this does and how easy it is to hit or hard straight out of the case. Oh my gosh, the look of this. It’s a look I love. Okay, I cannot hit a better shot than that. That was perfect. 190 carry. Perfectly straight. Easy to hit. Was that a fluke? Let’s see. That was not a fluke. Same thing. Same exact thing. Oh, that felt great. How is this pull iron so easy to hit? I’ll tell you, four a four iron, it’s pretty easy to hit. It doesn’t go as far. I’m like 188, 189 carry, but it’s nice and high and it feels amazing. Wow. So, what do you think of these new Mazuno irons? Are they for you? Who are they for? Tell you what, they’re for a player who loves this look and feel, the clean look, smaller face behind the ball, thin top line, and likes to be able to work the ball a little bit left to right, right to left, and practices a fair amount. I would say if I had the full set, I might put these in play in my bag. That would be a strong strong consideration because that’s the shot I love. I don’t mind a little less distance. We could work it out. I might even put like a graphite shaft in there to give me a little bit extra. Great job, Mazuno S1 muscle back irons. Let me know what you think. I like them. Love you guys. See you next time.

What were your land angles on the 4 and 6 irons? That has a lot to do with its performance.
Matt like the tagline says, nothing feels like a Mizuno. I have the S3 irons and they feel like butter when I hit them. Will you be doing a review of the Callaway X forged irons? Mine come in this week, fingers crossed. Thanks for the video.
No offense, but the days of regular folks buying $1500 set of irons, is going to come to an end. There are just too many good DTC irons out there. The Takomo 301MB are fantastic irons. They are $589. Yeah, for a top amateur or pro, I get it. But not for your once a week player. Just find out which model of Takomo you can use, and save yourself the rest of the money for rounds or lessons. These irons are getting ridiculously expensive. They will be $2000 for 7 clubs in a few years. It’s over the top now.
Remember when Mizuno made irons over on Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Norcross. I think Nike stole their blade design, so Tiger would switch from Mizuno to Nike.
Timeless
Looking. Can’t wait to hit them. Go with what you like in the bag. Love and embrace them. Who cares if they don’t fly as far as a T150 whose lifts are jacked. Who cares. Learn how to hit a proper iron. Club up if you need to. To each his own
I’m gaming the S-3s and I love them…the biggest difference I feel from my previous set of Mizunos (243/223 combo set) is the turf interaction with the soles…they are so much better improved for my swing…in addition, from other testing and research I’ve done, the S-3s are much more forgiving towards the heel, which is my strike…I’m usually a couple of mills heel on my strikes, so they are perfect for me…I’m guessing the S-1 is pretty similar…
Important question if you are comparing distances- are the lofts the same?
Can't wait to see what they do for you on the course.
I wonder if you'd compare these to some Takomo 301MBs?
Not to rain on your parade, but, with no mention of what your gamers are and what the loft of each iron is, this means absolutely nothing.
They look nice, but you'd better be a good ball striker to play them according to the review I read.
Cant wait to go in for some new irons, already went in and hit the s-3's and fell in love with them. May give these a crack too next time I'm in the shop. For reference when I was testing out the 7 iron I lost 8 yards 172>164 but wasn't using an optimized shaft either. But at the end of the day I wouldn't mind the 8 yard loss because everything about weight, feel, and control was unbelievable.
My 919 tour irons will stay in my bag, even though they have a lot of wear, I just can’t find anything better
It’s a shame to hit Pinnacle range rocks with those.
"Harmonic impact technology" 😂😂😂 sounds like a PING to me!!!
Harkens back to the classic Wison FG 53 Gooseneck irons….which i have and are great
More bounce and sharper leading edge. So, if you hit it fat, you hit it fatter and if you hit it thin you hit it thinner?…hmmmmm
I’ve got S3s and jacked the lofts by 2 degs … they are unbelievable, I had a chance to see these awhile back and I still went S3 because that 4 iron is scary thin
What happened to the other “A” graphite shaft??
Another year another claim that mizuno has made the best irons they have ever made. This sh** has become laughable. Hey everyone drop $1500 on the best irons ever built. Says the same marketing guy every year. Barf.
I play Mizuno!!! They are awesome.
Why don't premium iron clubs have full-face groves? The only ones I know are the new Cleveland Halos. I like the look. Asking for a friend.
Great review. They probably go a little shorter because the lofts aren’t as strong. If you are a real good golfer like you are I can see spending the money. You will have them for years. For the average golfer they I can’t see spending that kind of money because they won’t hit it good enough to see the performance. I currently have the Mizuno Hot Metal Pro’s from a few years ago and am debating on going to the Pro 245’s because they are a little smaller and almost as forgiving. Keep up the good work.
Don’t hit them, just look at them. There, I solved your problem.
Same lofts??
i would be interested in the 3+ month review. Takomo burned me on that. 🙂
MP32 still the best bruh!
What clubs do you have in your bag
Wow it’s so expensive they only sent you three clubs to check out…
Mizuno has to have some of the best looking irons out there. I went for a fitting couple years back and ended up with the 245s and they are amazing, never even considered Mizuno going into the fitting.
If i still had the club head speed ….i would still be gaming my mp5s ….had health issue at 47 ….was not able to play or even walk really for almost a year without a cane …but …i did make it back to the game …but now at 50 i just dont have the speed anymore …
S1… out of my league☹️!
S3… out of my league☹️ !
Maybe they’ll come out with S5🤞
You'll probably get another 5 yds distance on average without the harmonic impact technology : )
You cannot have clubs as exquisite as that and hit pinnacle practice balls.
you could do and S-3 and S-1 combo set maybe. S-3 for the longer irons cavity back a little more height and forgiveness. I will say these are some of the best looking irons out there.
Mizuno is granting my wish ❤❤❤ 2:06
Bought my mp-20's brand new 5yrs ago is the best decision ive made in golf yet
I have 925 hot metal hls and I absolutely love them I'm a Mizuno guy for life unless I find something better and I've tried everything almost so I don't think I'll find anything any better. Only thing I have left to upgrade to Mizuno it wedges and maybe a hybrid or 7 wood everything else in the bag is Mizuno
Just because she pretty doesn't mean anything. Give me an ugly girl who treats me right.
September 11th, I will buy myself some.
They are nice but still not even close to being as good as srixons
Take my money
