We have baseball tonight on a Sunday evening in West Sacramento as the A’s and the Giants will decide the three game series here this evening and it’s going to be left hander Jacob Lopez on the bump for the green and gold to round out this series. It’s going to be his ninth start , 13th overall appearance. They love the game plan early. They’re getting on top of the plate and they’re pulling him another tough start for the A at home, still loaded one out. And Willie adam adam, who big time against lefties, but he’s got a good swing going had a huge game yesterday. So still scoreless bases loaded on a 32 count. The pitch. Adam takes outside ball for the appeal but he checked his swing and it’s one, nothing giants draws the bases loaded one. That’s a good job, not the ideal start to the ball game. First four out of five have reached base now, for the Giants , Lopez can summon a great pitch now it would be a pretty good time. They lead from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Giants lead 1 to 0 and the 3 to 2 is swung on and missed down. He goes, got him in the breaking ball number two and here is mike and now the 02 pitch here it is a breaking ball swung on a great job by Lopez. He did limit the damage. The Giants get one. They leave free bird on the hill tonight for the Giants on the season in the bullpen to the rotation. His ninth start 3 to 3 on with 43 zero birdsong. That’s two walks here in the first innings comes up and I guarantee you the A’s are going to be real patient. They know what’s been going on with Birdsong. 3 to 2 pitch is swung on and missed strike three, another change up and he got him a get a couple of walks but they don’t score. Tyler Fitzgerald leads off for the Giants top of the second. They lead one Fitzgerald down on a fastball up and out of the strike zone out. Number one third strike out of the ball game for Jacob Lopez third in the row for the left hander. He’s getting a little bit of life back into him facing the nine hole hitter now and Andrew Kisner is the 12 and a swing and a miss four straight strikeouts. And I think in a matter of one inning, what you’re starting to see is how important it is for Jacob Lopez to be consistently competitive just consistently around the strike zone. So one or 22 out. Nobody a swing. And miss you talk about turning a start around. Jacob Lopez has struck out the last five Giants from Sacramento Giants with a 10 lead bottom and the A will come up against Hayden Birdsong, Tyler Soderstrom and a half swing. He went around strike three. That was a high fastball, that was way high and I mean, like maybe 2 ft high and Soderstrom just couldn’t hold up. The last seven hitters in this game has struck out two swing and a miss strike three, a high fastball. That’s three straight strikeouts for Birdsong Lopez. The a pitcher struck out five hit. Zack Goff right handed hitter. He got him with a slider. So another strikeout three in a row in this inning, four in a row overall for Birdsong. It’s strikeout city now four straight k for Birdsong, five straight for Jacob Lopez. Lopez has struck out five straight after the walk to adam which forced home a run on the run of this game as Lopez delivers the pitch breaking, swung on and missed down. He goes, that’s six consecutive strikeouts for the left hander all swinging and there is one away here in the third as Lopez to the plate, the 0 to 2 pitch breaking ball swung on and missed down. He goes, that’s seven consecutive strikeouts for Jacob Lopez. Look at your scorecard. Have you ever had 11 in a row? Four for the ace? I don’t think so all swinging 1986. How is the last a pitcher to strike out seven straight batters, Giants? But bases loaded for the A’s in the last of the third. Butler drew a walk at third wilson who had a hit at second Kurtz who walked his at first Giants. Still ahead 10. Now, the A with a great opportunity here, langeliers who struck out in the first inning, hits a sky high, pop up into left Ramos coming in, still coming in and he will get there to make the catch out. So another run batted in for Willie adam. That’s the only run of the game. That one is blasted out to left center field. Denzel Clark back at the wall. Willie Adam has come to life at the plate. His 11th home run of the year. It’s two nothing giants. Willie adam is the hottest hitter in the league. He drove in four last night. He’s got two runs batted in already tonight and he crushed that thing out to left center field. Willie adam goes deep two giants , Tyler Soderstrom, the leads all Birdsong. Soderstrom struck out in the second inning. Birdsong has four strikeouts. He struck out four consecutive athletics, Tyler Soderstrom out to right field and Tyler Soderstrom time to shine to, it’s bitter but he got the A here in the fourth Tyler. So from the kid from, with AJ T out of the ace bullpen and now the Giants have the bases loaded. Thomas man of his at bats. Been good here lately. A bases loaded walk in the first inning tonight and a monstrous home run in the fourth inning. Another full count pitch to the Giants hottest hitter. 32. It is ball four. Adam takes outside and that’s another run. His second bases loaded walk drawn tonight. It’s 3 to 1. Giants. He’s driven in all three runs, two of them by way of the walk scores, Devers goes to third. Wilmer Flores to second and Luis Matos will come to the plate one run in for the Giants. They lead 31 bases loaded two down. Matos zero for two tonight. He drives one out right center field on the move. Butler. He is not going to get it one hop and it goes over the wall and that means two, not three runs will score. Devers is in Flores is in. Adam has to go back to third but luis Matos into the gap, an automatic double to make it 5 to 1. Giants. That was a good swing. Now he is to have a shot to get back in it. Wilson the second Rookers at first Kurtz coming up and the Giants are conferencing on the mound. Giants bullpen is working, you get the left hit in Kurtz who can change the game with one swing. Kurtz hits a hard ground ball to second. Fitzgerald has it to second one to first and got him double play. Flores throws home with the runner wilson breaking for the plate, but the call at first is that it’s out and it’s a double play. So Wilmer didn’t know that. So he threw home and the Giants are going to walk off the field. The A’s are asking for a minute and they’re not challenging, Wilmer Flores, what a stretch at first base and the Giants turn the double play Fitzgerald against Michael Kelly. The new pitcher, fourth pitcher of the game for the A Fitzgerald drives one deep left field and it’s going to be not caught and it goes, Tyler Soderstrom had it and it bounced off his glove and ricocheted off the top of the wall and over the wall, maybe not quite shades of Jose Canseco , but the ricochet home run for Fitzgerald makes it 6 to 1 and a base hit right here on the is would bring the tying run to the foot and here’s Butler, he flied out, walk struck out, bounced to second one of those situations. We’ve talked about a lot, talked about Miller Closers coming into a non save situation and swung on and tap to first near the bag up with it and going to the bag as Flores the run scores at 6 to 2 but the Giants want out and they get the second out of the inning. Now the Giants one out away from a win, Jacob wilson, the ultimate contact hitter right now in the American League with two runners in scoring position would make it a two run game. Wilson chops it softly to third charging Chapman. He’s got it. Chapman to first for the out and the game is over matt Chapman with a classic chapman kind of play to help rescue camilo do. And the Giants that was a little shaky in the ninth inning, but Chapman and the defense gets it done and the Giants win this game 6 to 2 to take the series two games to one.
