Fritz was beaten by Carlos Alcarez in a four- set semi-final at Wimbledon despite having two points to take the match to a decider. Taylor Fritz was unable to reach the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career this year. After the match, Fritz admitted he needed to improve an area of his game if he wants to compete with the likes of Alcarez in the future. Following Fritz’s exit from Wimbledon, former finalist Nick Curios has revealed if he thinks the American will ever be able to win a major. The last time an American man won a Grand Slam singles title was when Andy Rodic won the 2003 US Open. When discussing Fritz’s chances at ending the drought for American tennis, Curios revealed that he does believe he has what it takes to win a major. However, Curios pointed out that he thinks Wimbledon is Fritz’s best chance at achieving that in the future. I think so, Curios said on Talk Sport. I think he could. I am not sure on any other surface but I think at Wimbledon there could be a potential grand slam for him there. Today he was the better player for about an hour and 15 minutes but Alcarez in those clutch moments just played those bigger moments well and that is what the experience of these grand slams does. There are so many ups and downs.
