Welcome back to the channel for a brand new video. And in today’s one, it is the season preview video for Cambridge United. Cambridge United, of course, got relegated from League One last season uh and will be playing League 2 football at the Abbey Stadium with Neil Harris in charge. Of course, the format of these videos last season. We’ll have a recap that ins and outs um key players and rough prediction of where I think a team will finish. Um and then the final video will be obviously Walsaw uh as we’re going in alphabetical order and then the day after the Warsaw video will be my table predictions where I go through 24th to first to predict the League 2 table. Starting off with Cambridge then last season finished in 23rd relegated from um League One. Now in terms of uh Cambridge United last season, apart from obviously the the relegation which obviously hits hit the club massively, didn’t it? Um relegated down to um down to League Two. terms of the FA Cup, they got to the second round of the FA Cup before losing to Wigan Athletic. Um, and in the EFL Cup, they lost first round to Queens Park Rangers. They did get through their group in the EFL Trophy, eventually losing to Chelham Town in round two. Now, the season obviously started with Gary Monk in charge. he lasted until um February and then Neil Harris came in um and was unable to keep the team in League One. Now obviously um when when you look at Cambridge, you look at a team that are league league 2 personally, you know, they’ve spent a couple of seasons in League One. Um but I still see them as a League 2 team. Um and obviously now they are back in the division. Gary Monk, I mean he tried, didn’t he? And then obviously he got sacked because it looked like they were going to go down. Um and Neil Harris came in and he just couldn’t save the team uh from relegation and obviously a lot of their fans probably don’t uh blame um Neil Harris for the relegation. Probably blame the the board and and obviously Gary Monk for putting them in that position. But in terms of the ins then how do you bounce back from relegation to uh the fourth tier of English football? you bring in Ben Knight as the first signing. Now, Ben Knight um was at Man City Academy, I believe. Um never he’s never really got game time anywhere. Um his last team was Rail Merc or M just Mercia in the uh in the Spanish uh divisions, played four substitutes, four substitute appearances for them and then obviously left. He’s now joined Cambridge for the 25 26 season. So he will be hoping that he can get a regular run of game time. Uh Dom Ball has come in from Leight and Orient. Zack Bradshaw has come in from Lincoln. Then Ben Davis from Swansea City and Ben Purton or Ben Purton from Exat. In terms of the outs, the only outs are the released uh players or out of contract. Lewis Chadwick has gone to Kingslin. Paul Bigby has gone to Dundee. Marco Morosi has gone to Port Veil. Jack Stevens has gone to Reading. And then currently without a club, Danny Andrew, Dan Barton, Jordan Cousins, Gary Gardner, uh, Amari Kagundu, Scott Malone, Brandon, uh, and Yuku, uh, Jabbrrell Oadina, Ben Stevenson, George Thomas. Now, before I mention the incomings, because I think there’s a few really good incomings, um, that, uh, Cambridge have gone with, the outs is massive. the players that have walked out the door, whether that be because of the relegation, whether that be, you know, a new challenge. Diggby, Paul Digby, what a player he’s been for Cambridge in his career. Marco Morosi has gone to the league above. Readin uh for Jack Stevens, the league above. And then the players that haven’t even found a club yet, Jordan Cousins, Gary Gardner, Scott Malone, Jubel Oadina, Ben Stevenson, George Thomas, Lewis Chadwick as well. There’s so many players in terms of quality positions that have just walked out the door at the Abbey and the signings they’ve brought in. Ben Knight again is unproven. We don’t know what he’s going to be. Don Ball is a really good defensive midfielder, someone who, you know, picks the ball up off deep and, you know, carries it well. Zack Bradshaw again, will he, you know, make an impact in League 2? Ben Hughes probably won’t play. And Ben Purton from Exta is a really good signing. Um, I just don’t think the signings that they’ve made as of this point right now are reflective of the quality that’s walked out the door. Um, I can’t remember who else I mentioned this. I think it was Barrow I mentioned uh this about as well. The incomings don’t match the quality that the outgoings um you know had. And I just look at those some of those names that have walked out the door. The main one for me is obviously uh Paul Digby, but Jubel Lockadino has been such a solid center back uh for Cambridge and then the quality um not the quality, the experience of Gary Gardner and Scott Malone again just walked out the door. Jack Stevens has been for Cambridge uh Cambridge for a long time. Um he’s left for Reading, but again time will tell um if those losses will impact their season. In terms of the key players, then I’ve picked out three key players for Cambridge uh this season in League Two. I’ve gone forve I’ve tried to go all around the pitch a little bit um to try and sort of get all angles of a key player for them. So, the first one is 23-year-old right back Liam Bennett. Now, obviously, these players could leave um throughout the window and they could bring in a really stellar name that, you know, elevates them even more and he probably would be a key player. But at the time of recording, I’m going to stick with the ones that I pick. Uh Liam Bennett, right back, age 23. I think he’s really good at this level. Um you know, he’s a really good right back. I think a lot of teams would be interested if he was to have a solid season uh again for Cambridge. and only 23 years of age, he does give you that um that quality down the right hand side to link up with the the guy that I’ll mention in a moment. Um but yeah, Liam Bennett is the first one. The second one is new signing Dominic Ball. Um coming in from Leight and Orian. I did mention the quality on the ball, you know, that first touch, that quality of bringing the ball from deep, progressing it through the lines and sort of um giving Cambridge that sort of attacking output from deep um which is what a lot of teams need in this division. They need someone who can carry from deep pause and bring the ball through the lines. Um I definitely think that Dominic B or Dom B can give that. And then the final player is James Broofphy. Now 30 years of age, people probably look down at James Broofphy. He might not get GA. He not he might not be a stat patter, but James Broofphy’s quality on the ball um you know his football intelligence for Cambridge has been a pleasure for their fans. You know a lot of their fans have said that James Brophy for them is is the one that um you know really stands out in bad performances when Cambridge play badly. Um and yeah, I’ve gone for James Broofphy as the final key player. Now, rough prediction. A lot of people are going to go top three. A lot of people will go top three just because of the fact they got relegated. Um, you know, was is recency biased. People say, “Oh, they got relegated, they’re going to go straight back up.” That’s never the case. We saw with Carile, they went down and then down again. Um, I’ve gone playoffs. Um, I do think they will be in around the playoff places. They have to be with the quality of player in their team, the quality of the manager. Um, I I definitely think they will be in and around those places, but again, whether they actually get in the playoffs or whether they, you know, exceed my rough prediction and sort of go up automatically, well, time will tell, of course, but I’ve put them as playoffs. So, that is another video of the season preview. 2526 Cambridge United is done and dusted. Uh, the next video I believe is going to be either I think it’s Colchester or Crew, one of the two um in the next video. But Eddie Cambridge fans, as always, smash a like on the video. Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Obviously, I can’t get everything right for every single team. Um, that would be pretty impossible. But of course, smash a like on the video, subscribe if you’re new, and I’ll speak to you in another video tomorrow. Thanks for watching and yeah, good luck to all Cambridge United supporters. Obviously, you’re going to be hoping that your team can bench straight back up to League One at the first time of asking. Thank you guys for watching. Speak to you in a bit.
