Come on, Rory. Mrs. Fairway Miles right yesterday. This is on a much better line. Even back in the breeze, he’ll have no issues getting it home in two. Flush drive off two and three. Ominous for the rest. That’s for line. Didn’t quite get the bounce he required. Oh, it’s a truly excellent try. Good long back swing. Good long follow through. Equal of length. He can get quite close to the green here if he connects. [Applause] Well, if he’s drawn a decent line, he’s got a wonderful angle. Doesn’t have to flirt with that bunker on the right whatsoever. I wasn’t going to have great control, but he just handles that so nicely. So nicely. [Applause] It’s one of them. You don’t want to start too far right. It looks like it wants to fall left, but I wonder if the first couple of feet of this are not kicking it just a bit to the right. Well, the ninth birdie of the day on the eighth hole was been found by Rory Maroy. Back into the breeze. Two mighty blows to reach the green. He might just do it. I didn’t realize that Ric Flair was a fan of golf. Just the long iron required for Maroy. They’re reach 10. A breeze perhaps has just softens a touch. And that’s a splendid shot. Now what will the result be it’ll be 12 ft for his eagle three. Looking rather menacing is Mroy. Actually wonder how many threes have been done on 10 today. Not many I’m sure. Just the one from Perez and that’s still the case. Where have we? It’s going to be an easy bird 34, but a bit of a let down with a putter, it has to be said. I hear Mandas. [Applause] Absolutely perfect. Just a couple of steps closer from Makiroy, but unfortunately in a sand divot, he can get full face on the ball. But this is always testing, especially into the wind to keep that club face very square into the strike. Yeah. Oh man, what a break. What a break. Seen it get snagged up there in the past. But very unlucky with his T-shot. Just when he was putting the accelerator down, you thought here he comes. But bad lie, but got away with it. I think if this falls into the hole, it would fall from the right hand side. But not much. [Applause] What a flight. Two iron. Get it out there about 270 yards, but normally has a lot of run on it. And that is the perfect spot. Avoid the divots, please. Can Maroy produce a bit of something here? Feed it in from the the right side. Pretty good. Right on track with a little bit of a firmer forward bounce. It’s a putt that he would have had over the years here coming back every year playing in this championship. So he knows it’s coming slightly off the right. Needs to be firm. I think it’s a little more towards Good try. Maroy on the T at 14 staring straight into the sun right at Scotland’s capital city. You do want a number you can hit fairly firmly. You want the most spin possible on it because you can do that if you’re a bit shy is when you’re going to get the big shoot forward that sends you through that back edge on the move gets to within two the 2023 champion making his presence felt. Another look. Beautifully read. Great pace. Dead center with a little bit of authority. Nice little pep when he’s straight. Gets the double figures. That’s in the hole. That is wonderful tempo right there. Keeping it nice and smooth. Trying to take a little bit of the spin off the golf ball. Get that thing chasing forward once it lands. There is a chance to get this close, but it needs to be perfect. Good tailed fellow through once again. Oh, another yard. That’s all. They could lie on an ups slope. Should not pose too much of a problem. It didn’t unlucky. He’s so so good in and around the greens out of the bunker especially. I think that would have gone in if the F flag wasn’t in, but you can’t the fall the shot is. Oh, what a day. No, this one hanging out to the right hand side even with that kick. It’s going to be in the rough someplace. Hopefully, it’s drawn a decent line. [Applause] It would have helped him if he got it in the fairway and he could just get a little bit more spin control to stick one in there close for the third. A third shot now. Do not go long. Do not go long. Really that’s world class Roy on the shoulder of God with his one back. Electrifying second nine here. [Music] Go a killed. Go talking to listening. Took the spin off the second bounce because the first one was on the downstep. Triple back a few more inches closer. After that lovely birdie at 16, he sets himself up with a chance of another at 17. Love that again. Wonderful pace from backander. Drop it in the front left hand corner. get away with one 16 remains at 11 under [Music] [Applause] the perfect shot right down the heart of the fairway. Knew if he could drive it he’d run through perhaps get tangled up with the wall. Exhibition Watson Ideal Homes again that short and follow through that’s worked so well for him this year. Just needed a firmer first, but he’ll take it. About the same distance he missed 17 for the lead. [Applause] So similar to the runner 17. Both good tracks. Well struck. [Applause] Lovely round of golf on moving day for Mroy. [Music] This feels like the fastest car making its way to the front row of the grid with one round to go. Rory, nice move on a Saturday. Yesterday it was a tale of two nines. What was the tale of today? A little bit of the same, I think. Um, you know, I was even par through seven. Uh, made a really good bounceback birdie on the eighth hole after the boogie on seven and then, um, played a really good back nine. Felt like you the conditions got a little tougher as the day went on. on the wind got up um and the back n definitely played more difficult um today than it did yesterday. At least for me, I think the wind and the conditions we got is is sort of similar to what the afternoon we have got yesterday. Um but I I controlled my ball flight well and and did the things I needed to do. Um you know, was very close with those two putts on the last two holes as well. So, but yeah, overall, you know, really happy with with the day’s work. Earlier in the week, you said you were struggling a little bit with one wind direction more than the other. I think left to right. Have you managed to make some progress with that? Yeah, I think so. It it helps that the wind switch so the the range the the wind on the range is off the left. So, um it’s been good to hit some balls in that wind uh consistently just to get a feel for what I need to do. Um so, yeah. No, I I definitely feel like I’ve made some progress on on that end. It has been a bit of a roller coaster, we could say, since you since you won the Masters and secured the Grand Slam. What would the significance be of of a win tomorrow? And do you think it would signal the start of a new chapter for you? Yeah, you know, I it’s my first realistic chance to win um after after the Masters and you know, like I’ve I’ve had a great season. I you know, I won a Pebble. I won the Players. Um, but yeah, I think look, I’ I’ve said this, when you do something that you’ve been dreaming your whole life to do, something you, you know, it was a, it was a huge moment in in my life, in my career. Um, and I think I just needed that little bit of time. Um, and to be back here for the last couple of weeks and feel like I could actually digest all of it. Yeah. Uh, I feel like I came to this tournament with sort of renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the rest of the year. And you can hear all the fans there chanting your name. They absolutely love you here, Rory. And and of course, who knows what reception you’re going to get next week. How much has the support here in Scotland meant to you over the last few days? Yeah, it’s been amazing. Um the atmosphere today was incredible. Uh I think they had a sellout and I think it’s a sellout again tomorrow. The weather helps. Um but yeah, no, it’s amazing to to play in front of uh fans like that and in an atmosphere like that. And you know, I’m excited to to hopefully be in that final grip tomorrow and and and feel more of the same. Great playing and good luck tomorrow. Cheers. Thank you. 14 players within four shots, 26 within six. We’ve seen it before. Great final round comebacks all to play for on Sunday. And the title of course, the Genesis Scottish Open. and was set for a cracking final round. Maroy and Gutterup share the lead at 11 under power the two clear of Clark Napge and Matt Vitzpatra. Thorly enjoyed your company. We look forward to it again from Scotland on Sunday. To watch another DP World Tour video, click here. And to subscribe, click here.

  1. 5 birdies a day almost every week is just a routine for him, in contention almost every week in every event…amazing

  2. Whoooooooooooo cares, guys gonna cry the moment things don't go his way. "non-conforming driver" they spun it in the narrative that it was his drivers fault and not his… little nancy!

  3. That sand shot that bounced off the stick should have gone in and 3 missed putts were pretty close…still shoots 66….imagine a 62! Hope he wins it tomorrow! Another good round and he'll have it too!

  4. Why do they advertise the Renaissance Club as being in North Berwick? It essentially abuts Muirfield and is much closer to Gullane and Dirleton than it is to North Berwick.

  5. 15th hole 488 yards I know I’ll shout out get in the hole when he drives off….honestly give yer head a wobble

  6. Was hoping for highlights of round 3 but all i can see is Rory McIlroy. Its getting boring now.

  7. These fans are starting to become too American, nobody wants to hear your obnoxious shouts, it's not the Waste Management… McIlroy class as ever.

  8. What a player. He was dialed in. Really good interview too.
Tomorrow should be great. Scottish Open has turned into one of the best tournaments of the year.

  9. The divot rule is singularly the most stupid rule in golf. You can pick and clean on the green but not in a divot. Absolutely stupid throughout golf. If it’s on a fairway lift and clean. It’s not difficult R&A

  10. They should start banning idiots for shouting out stupid comments all the time. The novelty has worn off and it’s just annoying now. Why can’t they just enjoy and respect the golf and how good these guys are without all the shouting. This ain’t LIV

  11. For a pro with a trophy on the line, to not be able to move your ball out of a divot is criminal. Such a dumb rule! If you drive it on the fairway you shouldn't be penalised.

  12. Just good golf from McIlroy.

I feel it's going to be a Battle of the Irishmen on home turf next week….

  13. Lags a 40 footer up to 4" and rolls his grimaced head looking pissed every time 😤 Hard to watch this bloke… Can't think of another legend past or present who does this😅 But great golf & a lovely interview. Go Rory!!

  14. Now that he has the knock-down short iron in his arsenal of shots, Rory is a more complete golfer even when the wind is blowing.

  15. The difference between courses in the US (and almost anywhere), and the ones in the UK is so stark. This Ken takes the award for being drab, washed out and generally poorly kept.

  16. Every club golfer has those frustrating 32-33 point rounds, when they play great, but don't get the lies or bounces. Good putts bobble off line or lip out, or there's a stone in the bunker. When Rory gets those, he shoots 66. 😁
