The first tea of Louisville hosted a special youth golf clinic tied in with the Isco Championship at Hsburg Country Club. The youth development organization which teaches life skills through golf had kids playing some interactive games and learning from PGA pros like Marcus Bird who started into the game at a first TE program near his hometown of Washington DC and is playing as a pro this week. Absolutely. they can see themselves doing this in a couple of years. So, it gives them something to aspire and reach for and and to work for. And he’s given them uh firsthand, up close and personal of how he got to where he is and the work he had to put in. So, it’s inspirational for the kids and great for the first team of Louisville. Louisville native Cooper Muscleman had his best PGA Tour finish at last year’s Isco Championship. The former Saint X and UK standout shot a 10 under 62 in his second round. Finished tied for 31st at the event. Played at Keen Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville. This year he got in the field by shooting a 66 in Monday’s qualifying round at the Uvel Golf Club and had to change some plans when he qualified. Yeah, it’s exciting. Um, I had obviously planned to go to Denver, Colorado for the Cornfair event, but um, feel like I just couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to qualify for, you know, a hometown event. So, um, yeah, I decided to, um, to play on Monday and it worked out. I was fortunate enough to have my in-laws live about 4 minutes away from the course in Lexington. So, I was able to stay with them last year, which was great. It just kind of felt like home away from home. This week being home, sleeping in my own bed, um I think it’s a big advantage and I’m just really excited for the week. And Muscleman has great memories of playing at HSN. He won the Kentucky Open there in 2017. Tom Lane, WDRB Sports.
