to really straighten out that shot got Sandy L to do stability on the club face the ball is telling me there’s no hand motion there at all simple but effective really stable through the ball i’m really going to have to work my body take away one side of the golf course it gives you so much confidence oh wow a little bit of fade in that one actually hi everyone and welcome to another video on the channel thank you very much for joining me my name is Warren Bennett we got Trev down there and we’ve traveled all the way to South Wales we’ve come to Klein Golf Clubs which is just past Swansea it’s what’s called the Mumbles beautiful part of the country and you can see with the view behind me wow so today we got another academy visit i’m killing two birds with one stone today I’m actually going to play and do an academy versus so I’m going to go and play the course in a little while too many golfers have one extreme too much body not enough club and the elite golfers too much club and not enough body this is a great exercise especially if you’re pulling it to really straighten out that shot so back camera set up i’m going to tell you all about it so this video is inspired by Sandy L i remember reading or someone told me about an exercise Sandy Ly used to do and he’s before I think he went to lead better David Led better he got taught by his father so Alex Ly and what Alex used to do I think he used to suffer from a bit of a hook potentially um you might have done this if he was slicing it too but what Alex L got Sandy L to do was if he was hooking it he got him to turn the club face in grip it normally so if you’re now addressing it with a really closed club face if I swing normal guess what’s going to happen i won’t hit it because we’ve got a fairway on the left you’re going to hit a big hook and this is only an exercise by the way it’s not for the golf course is I want you to close the club face so it’s pointing obviously the the more you do it the harder this exercise is but we’ll do it a little bit like the leading edge is pointing to your right foot i’ve got an eight iron it’s on a T now to keep that club passive and straight I’m really going to have to be very passive with my hands really like a big turn and big coil through the ball let’s see how I get on so close the club face first don’t grip it then close it close it first then grip it point the leading edge towards your right shoe as you can see a little half swing and we’re really going to hold it off so you can see it went a little left there so obviously it’s exaggerated and it should probably should go a little left but when you come round to address the club normally so square hopefully a little bit of this rotation and this stability of your club face will bleed into your normal swing okay so let’s keep hitting so close the club face it’s aiming at your right shoe as you can see and have to really keep that right elbow under so it’s all those things if you hit a straight shot like that all those things will have to work for you so it might only it might take more than two shots might take half a dozen might take a dozen but you know now if you start off with a closed club face and hit it straight you know you’ve really kept stability on the club face so it’s like the Mo Norman quote the vertical drop which is this is going to have to happen cuz I can’t come over the top with a closed club face and the horizontal tug so this is what I’m doing really pushing it through and this is what Alex Ly got Sandy Ly to do hit balls with a closed club face keep it open lovely slight pull but there’s no hook so I now know the ball’s telling me which is the best teacher the ball is telling me there’s no hand motion there at all i’m not going to do it for today’s video but you can do it with an open club face so if I start with an open club face I’m really going to have to really overexaggerate my hand release but I don’t want it for this video at all shut it half swing we’re not going to do full swing lovely really stable through the ball i’m really going to have to work my body so remember the legs body arms and hands this is now neglecting the hands and arms so if you’re a slice of the ball you might need that but if you’re an overreleaser this is going to be a great one really get the core and really get your kind of your engine room working through the ball really keep your hands and arms passive through the ball close it down once more oh wow a little bit of fade in that one actually little half swing wow little fade again starting left beautiful if you start with the closed club face my instinct isn’t going to use my hands my instinct is going to have to get in this position to keep it square and I think that’s what he was doing simple but effective close it down half swing through okay pulled that one a little bit more so probably neutral swing didn’t get through it and didn’t keep hold of that club face as long on that one keep that face looking down the line there you’re going to have to really keep the back hand under get your right arm in and really lead with that hand like a lead traino type of thought there we go there we go wow and then you can just dial it in a little bit so we’re just going to go probably to my heel so I don’t have to work as hard now and there we go slightly up the right so my body is now learning to take away left take away one side of the golf course it gives you so much confidence to stand there not knowing and know and knowing it’s not going to go left obviously just fasttracking this for the video but then you can go back to normal and see what bleeds into your golf swing anti left beautiful okay everyone so thanks very much for joining me for another one i just want to say thank you to everyone here at Klein Golf Club um if you’re in the South Wales area I’ll put all the links to Klein Golf Club’s information below and yeah please come along it’s a real as you’re going to see with the playing one i don’t know what’s going to come out first this video or the playing one as you can see it’s got a real load of characters of this course okay everyone up for myself and Trev and from Klein Golf Club we bid you farewell thanks very much for watching everyone thanks for everyone’s support and we’ll see you next time cheerio

Brilliant video I will try this is next few hours when on the range
Vertical drop and horizontal tug. Love it! Swing slow to learn fast. ❤
Another great video Warren. Do you think you could cover the slowing of the handle at impact to speed up the club head. Would be great to have a drill to aid this? I always think of flicking a towel and how the hands have to slow to speed up the flick.
Thanks Warren
You said “Hit the ball with a closed club face – keep it open”! !!! You are sooo confusing and your editing needs work – too jerky – too tiring to follow
Hey! I’ve been really enjoying your videos lately
Noticed a small SEO tweak that might help you get even more reach.
Let me know if you'd like me to share.
I have a tendency to hook the ball so will try this out tomorrow at the range, thanks Warren its another cracker!
Fantastic coaching WB every one of your videos is easy to follow and top quality instruction!! Many thanks. I’m down two shots now since following your channel since Feb 👍🙌
This drill is great for those like me who are “flippers” it helps to get those hands forward to compress the ball. Feel is not real but it helps train getting your full turn and hands in right position. Thanks Warren excellent.
Warren – if you were someone who holds the club open (i.e. no real hand action into impact causing a slice), which I suspect 90% of golfers are, why wouldn't you use this on the course? I started doing this on this range a couple of years ago and started hitting very consistently solid fades with a 4 iron. Used it on the course for a season and hit it great with the irons just couldn't get it to work with the driver so like an idiot I dropped it. Time to take another look thanks for the video!
