hey guys Mr short hitter here you don’t look like a short hitter to me so guys I was lucky enough for J&M Golf in St John Indiana to allow me to use their track man to film my distances with the pen hawk full hybrid set so we’re going to go inside hit some balls and we’ll see how this full hybrid set shakes out [Music] [Music] [Music] go let’s talk about a few of the things that I didn’t like about the resolution hybrids from pen Hawk the first thing was the hair covers they’re a little too tight some of them but I kind of think that they’ll loosen up because this actually is tighter than it or a lot looser than it was so let’s scratch that I think it was just because they were new so head covers are good one of the things that I did notice is that you can’t buy these pen Haw resolution hybrids directly off of the pen Hawk Golf website so I would say that is a negative you have to go through one of the Distributors so another thing I would have loved to see is a little more information on the actual clubs on the website couldn’t find the actual volume of the club head I couldn’t find the total weight of the club in grams because I wanted to compare it to my present hybrids so this next thing isn’t necessarily A criticism of pen Hawk but just a criticism of when you have a bag full of hybrid irons it’s a little challenging to get to your club and know which club you’re going to play however they do have the these very very helpful notches on the head covers so you do have the numbers that you can turn this ha cover specifically is for a 7 8 n or pitching wedge so this makes the process of going through eight or 10 hybrids in your bag a little bit easier we’re going to go with the nine this time one thing I had to do is kind of keep reminding myself that I’m hitting a nine iron instead of a hybrid and not play this ball up too far in the stance little right but that’ll play that then bring a putter here guys so guys first it seems strange to only have three degree gaps when you get to your shorter clubs like the the nine and the and the pitching hybrid nine hybrid pitching hybrid but my six hybrid has 28 degrees of Loft there’s 3 degree gaps between my 3 four 5 and six so it kind of only makes sense that if we went to further down the road to three for all the way down to pitching wge that they would still have 3° gaps you go all the way down to 46° which is the pitching wedge in my current set and with these it would be a a sandwich you’re still able to get good gapping out of these clubs you know I have a pretty good gap between my pitch and wedge and the nine iron pitching hybrid and the nine iron pitching hybrid and the nine hybrid it’s hard to say that and I’m going to say they have some forgiveness that ball was hit way out here and we can see it’s right down the middle of the Fairway now some of the positives are are obvious the first one being the larger more forgiving head this head is actually even larger than the hybrid that’s in my bag right now and we draw this one into the target H it drew but I hit it fat now another Pro that’s pretty obvious is hitting out of rough and out of bad lives I’ve had situations to where I had maybe 140 yards matter of fact the video I just filmed yesterday the ninth hole I had 135 140 yard to where I would hit an eight iron but the rough was so gnarly that I didn’t feel comfortable and I had to go to a nine iron to make sure I got more Loft on it with hybrids and hybrids like these especially with a lot of Loft if you have a lie like this I don’t think you’d have any problem if you had to hit an eight out of this I mean this thing has so much loft not guarantee we’re going to knock it on the green but we should be able to at least get it through the rough and get the club on the ball kind of came out like a knuckle ball but on the right Fringe and again just kind of got right through that rough cut through it and I think a eight iron I would have been lucky to get that much Club on the ball probably would have chunked it and ended up short of the green pin High just off the right Fringe and here is the one that I hooked I was able to get the spin on it but we hit behind it and hit it a little heavy we still hit it on the green so we’ll take [Music] that so this came with a hazardous 5.5 65 G mid spin shaft and the whole set and also came with the beautiful lampin grip I kind of think one of the reasons that I like these clubs so much is you guys know my favorite Club is my Highwood well the profile on this club is so large that it almost kind of matches up with this Highwood the Highwood is a combination of a hybrid and a fairway wood it’s just a tad smaller than the Highwood so guys I want to give a quick thank you to JN M golf for allowing me to film if you’re ever in the area of St John Indiana make sure to check them out they have a beautiful retail storefront right on the Main Street and they have everything you need as it pertains the golf so I’m definitely going to check them out again you guys let me know in the comments section what clubs you’d like me to test and I’ll see if they have any demos all right guys I hope you enjoyed my review of the pen Hawk Revolution hybrids some of the easiest clubs I’ve ever hit and if you’re a high handicap golfer or even a mid- handicap golfer some clubs that you should take a serious look at if you like the video like comment subscribe until next time Mr sh hitter out just play 13

  1. Why are there no grooves in the middle of the face? Grooves on irons are said to be very important but not for these hybrids?

  2. Nice! Imagine one of your playing partners rotating the club # on all the hybrid head covers when you're not looking, you'd be resetting them for a few minutes. I wouldn't be able to resist 😆

  3. Very interesting video on an innovative company. I love my Hywood (thanks) so these Pinhawks have my attention.. I would love to see your numbers for the 1 and 2 hybrids. Are these potential fairway finders off the tee?

  4. I have the rotating numbers on my Cleveland Hybrids and it is easy to move the number, but typically the shaft length gives a good indication of which number you have in hand. I have to say as a very slow swing speed player, I love my #5 & #6 Hybrid's they are just so reliable. More players should consider hybrids, especially if you swing slow and can't get much distance past your 7 or 8 irons. MSH, another great video, very informative thanks!

  5. I’ve never swung a hybrid before but thought a little about trying one . Thanks for your video,I’ve found it very helpful in what to expect when using one on the course . Keep em coming !

  6. Yep. you have to go thru a distributor to buy. I checked them out online and I would be leery of the finish holding up even with the headcovers. The price seems good at $89 each. Interesting to test without buying but that's direct to consumer for ya. In a totally unrelated subject what are your thoughts on zoysia grass. I was recently introduced to it at the new Pfau course at IU in Bloomington. Ball sits up so well.

  7. I game a set of custom Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo single-length to 4i shaft length. Even though they’re actual irons, the hybrid nature of head make them very easy to hit, especially with having some physical limitations (back, leg, shoulder) that limit my swing. The heads are heavy, which I like, and with 120g KBS steel shafts, I’ve been gradually learning to “let the club do the work” and allow the weight of the club-head give me what I need. I also have a set of custom TaylorMade SIM and while the HB are not as good on distance as the TM, the HB provide much better control, which lends to better accuracy (because the club is heavy, I can feel the club-head more). Not everyone will like the look of them but I love them – especially since they make the game more enjoyable for me.

  8. Thanks for trying those clubs out and letting us hear your opinion on them. I have long wondered about them and wouldn't mind trying them someday. About a year ago or so I switched over to a single length set of irons (7i length). Since the first few shots I found that I loved them. I think I have improved my average round since by about 5-7 shots. I do have a 3 and 5 hybrid club normal length and hit those well too. 4th year into golf and I'm breaking 100 50/50 or so. Broke 90 once and just today shot a 93. Have you ever tried single length irons?

  9. Curious if you've ever tried the Cleveland Smart Sole Full Face C-Wedge? Basically a 42 degree "chipper." I'm 70, been away from the game a long time, and have had lumbar fusion. Trying to get back into the game a little. Wasn't a bad chipper when I used to play regularly but I've read really good things about this club. I'm an old man, I can use a damn chipper. It's kind of amazing me. I thought it would be forgiving on short chips around the green, it is. But I'm finding it to be a really good tool from considerably further out. Clearly not the choice if short-sided with a hazard to play over. But I'm really impressed with it. Also picked up a 20 degree Hywood. Seems like a terrific club. Suspect I'm going to have to add the 17.

  10. Great stuff. Really interesting results. More should venture into the hybrids. Easier to hit, easier to launch, better results. Try them. My first was a Cleveland Halo. Great clubs. My bag is Driver, 5 wood, 21* hybrid, 25* hybrid, both Titleist with blue Tensi shafts. 5-GW Mizuno forged 923. The gapping works. S23 54 and 58* Excellent forgiveness. and I'm a loyal Vokey wedge player! Thanks for all you do, MSH! This community cherishes your work. I'll be retired next season. I may come visit! That would be a blast! Jon, from Iowa!

  11. So all of them are 37 inches long? What’s the difference in the resolution vs the slh that I see on the single length website.

  12. Another interesting video. I am a senior slow swinger with a full set of Cleveland Halo full face irons with senior shafts. I hit them much better than my old Ping Stiff G20’s, which I could no longer hit with confidence. I can again go for the green on par 3’s and long approaches. I do find them to hit higher and shorter, especially when I get lazy and swing too easy, relying on the hybrid head to do all the work. They have made golf fun again!
