One of the keys to Hill’s strong start? A budding new partnership with his caddie Stewart. Now in their third week together, Hill discusses how their early chemistry is translating into better golf. With his putting sharp and ball-striking improving, the signs are pointing toward more success ahead.

Callum, congratulations. 65 is what you’ve carded at your first round here at the Genesis Scottish Open. All smiles I can see. How much did you enjoyed out there? Yeah, that was really good fun. It’s nice to um come in here. Obviously, it’s probably the biggest event here for us Scottish people and then have a good round and good start to the tournament. It was great. We were talking to Marcel Seam earlier because obviously he’s on the back of his national championship. Mentally exhausted. Do you find it hard to be grounded and in the moment when you you’re playing the Scottish Open? I think so a wee bit, but I mean it’s always nice to have family and friends around watching. Um, and I think I’ve my game feels quite good, so I’ve came in a bit more relaxed this year. And then it’s nice just to put a good round together as well. What’s been the difference for you? Because obviously this season we’ve seen a lot of signs of of what you can do. Yeah, it’s been a bit up and down, but there’s some good stuff coming. I think I’ve got a little bit more hold of my ball striking. My putting’s in good shape and um new relationship with Stuart, my caddy is going very well. This is week three and the first two weeks were very promising as well. So I think just all those little things coming together uh equate to good good golf. Not as much wind as you had in the practice rounds to to deal with, but the course has evolved a little bit I think from from some years gone by. Yeah, there’s a little trickier. It’s very well refined like the edging of even the rough and the walkways. It looks beautiful to play in visually. Um yeah, the wind was slightly less but it’s still enough to be tricky. I mean, it’s 200 yards on the ninth hole in there, and my five iron didn’t even sniff. So, like, it still plays a long way. It’s always a heavy wind when you’re on the coast in Scotland, so it plays tricky enough. We wish you the best tomorrow. Thanks. Cheers.
