>The Pete Dye Course Golf Course at French Lick was named the #1 golf course in Indiana in Golfweek’s Best 2019: Best Courses You Can Play list, the 2017 National Course of the Year winner by the National Golf Course Owners Association and 2009’s Best New Course in America by Golf Digest. Originally conceived as a sketch by Pete Dye on a napkin at a nearby restaurant, this hilltop course (it’s built on the highest point in Indiana) offers 40-mile panoramic views of the breathtaking Hoosier National Forest. While the course stretches to over 8,100 yards from the tips, it features five sets of tees – beginning at 5,100 feet – making it playable by golfers of every skill level.
Buddy of mine got married there. I live a few hours away but had no idea there was a gem like that hidden in the middle of Indiana. Didnt have a chance to play but it looked amazing

Pete dye was diabolical.

I can’t wait to play this. I have a close family connection to the course and the French Lick hotel, so it always warms my heart to see it praised.

Why do they need to demolish all the trees?

Just played Pete Dye course in NE Ohio called Fowlers Mill. Great course. Kicked my ass. Paid $42 for weekday tee time.

Pete Dye was a dick as a designer. Makes for really frustrating, but also REALLY FUN rounds. I’ve played a couple Dye courses and they all felt like you really had to nail your approach shots or you got penalized HARD. Seems like pretty much every hole has a bunker on the right from about 250-275, and a bunker complex guarding the front of the green. Did the man just hate bump and runs?

I have a tournament there in 2 weeks at both courses, super excited for it!!

I’ve never been, but knew where this was immediately. I love Pete Dye courses, but I’m not sure I could bring myself to pay the prices.
The Pete Dye trail is really a wonderful set of courses.

I’m from Evansville I’ll definitely have to play here some time

I played the Don Ross course at French Lick a few months ago and had no idea there was so much elevation change in southern Indiana. I can only imagine how the Pete Dye course is.

Great course. So fun. Enjoy the cool gifts they give you when you leave. I’d highly suggest Alan as your caddy!
Need more appreciation posts! This looks amazing, is it private? I’ve heard it’s really good and quite diabolical, given any Dye design.

Peaceful now. Right until it opens and modern golf culture rolls in with its Oakleys, Florida Georgia Line on a Bluetooth speaker, Bud Light, and endless posturing for the gram like 13 year old girls.

My favorite Dye course. The lack of railroad ties is a real delight.

Trees might look nice on a course, but they actually make it harder to keep the grass healthy. They block sunlight and soak up a lot of water, which means the turf needs more attention and irrigation. That’s why more clubs are trimming or removing trees, it’s a modern way to care for a golf course . BTW, it’s not about speeding up pace of play; it’s about keeping the fairways & greens in good shape with less maintenance & irrigation

I miss courses like that. Living is Florida is nice for year round golf but the course are so boring and unimaginative. Just more water or more sand.

Hey I literally played there yesterday evening! What a course!

Just played there two weeks ago, that place is special.

Pete Dye courses are meant to only be looked at because they fucking suck to play.

I looked up this description of the course:
