Playing golf in your home state is uh there’s nothing like it, I don’t think. And uh yeah, I mean about an hour and 20 30 minutes from my house. So uh close enough to be called home. Yeah, Josh Teter was really close to home when this event was played near Lexington, but having it in Louisville, still pretty good. Teter played collegiately at Morehead State has bounced between the Cornferry Tour and the PGA Tour for most of his career. He was kind of unsure of where he’d be playing most of this year until he won the Panama Championship in early February. He is still eighth on the Cornferry points list. Believes Hurst will be a challenging course for the pros this week. If we can avoid storms and it continues to play firm and fast and the green’s bouncing and I mean it’s going to be a good test. But I’ve talked to a lot of guys that uh you know are big bombers and they’re like you know I thought on that hole I was going to drive it up by the green but then I got in the rough from 50 yards and I didn’t like that that idea. So um going to make you think a lot I think and uh in my opinion that’s a good way to play u on a you know kind of an old classic like this. JB Holmes is another guy glad to be getting a chance to play near home. Campbellville native and UK grad is a two-time Kentucky Open champion, has five PGA Tour wins and starred in the 2008 RDER Cup at Vajala. Always known as a long hitter, Holmes agrees that straight is more important than long this week. It’s difficult to to get anything closer on the green with if you’re uh not in the fairway. So, uh more than distance this this week. It’s key to be in the fairway. So, if you’re struggling with one drive, a driver or a club you’re not sure, it’s better off to probably club down and make sure you get it in the fairway. And it’s really firm. So, like I said, the ball’s rolling out. I mean, you can hit 3-wood 300 yards out here. So, it’s it’s one where it’s really going to be key getting it in the fairway. Um, the greens are small, so if you miss irons in c certain spots, it’ll be tough to get up and down. So, uh, but you do have a lot of wedges in your hand, so uh, definitely should be some birdies. Homes will tee off at 12:32 p.m. Thursday. Teter begins his round one at 7:07 a.m.
