Today we’re taking a look at the Latitude 64 Project Grip Grace. Will this new advancement in plastic molding methodology change the disc golf industry?

Latitude 64 just dropped Project Grip at retailers all over the place last week and they’re basically marketing this as a new revolution in disc golf technology. In specific, they’re describing this as a merging of two plastic blends where you get an exterior plastic that is soft and grippy and an interior plastic that is more stiff, rigid, and torque resistant. In theory, this should make for a pretty grippy disc that doesn’t lose its structural integrity on a hot summer’s day like today. I am probably one of the most sweaty men alive. I’m wearing a cotton t-shirt today. So, we should be able to verify that pretty quick. So, I’m using pretty much all the grip products out there, whether it be whale sacks or climbing chalk or whatever. So, I’m all on board when it comes to companies developing new plastics trying to get that perfect grip. The mold that we’re taking a look at today is the Grace, which has the numbers 116 negative one turn two fade. I’ve actually never thrown a Grace. Somehow, I feel like this is one of the most popular drivers out there right now. I see this all over the course. I’m really excited to check it out. So, let’s just jump into it. We’re starting off with a 320 foot par three bends off to the left. We got to dodge this tree in the center of the fairway. So, let’s go grace on hiser. Oh, that’s nice. That’s nice. Get on in there. And that set us up well. About 20ish feet away from the basket here. BR 300T par three. We have an uphill gradient all the way leading up to the basket, which is just straight on from the teapad here. We do have a low ceiling right near the basket. So, we have to keep our grace pretty low. Yeah. See, it’s got some over stability there. That’s going to be great. Skip up a little bit for us. That should set us up inside circle one. You can tell right away that there is something just a little bit weird with the grip. The best way I can probably describe it is just like when I try to drag my thumb across the flight plate, I can feel there’s almost like this resistance that I wouldn’t normally get from this type of plastic. You know, a lot of these like championesque plastics can be a little bit slick, and it’s not the case here. This is definitely the opposite of slick. It’s a great grip, and as far as rigidity goes, I’d say it’s somewhere in the middle. Like, there’s definitely some flex if you force it. It’s not like a super stiff disc by any means, but it is this weird in between where like it is a little bit gummy, but I mean, it’s a hot freaking day out. It’s like 90° out right now. And it’s not, you know, it’s not flopping around at all. Like, it’s definitely got some structural integrity. 411 ft par three. Basket is off to the left. This is a tricky hole cuz we got a bunch of trees in the middle of the fairway here. So, I like to take it safe. We’re going to go to the right and just kind of lay up. Grab our easy par and maybe like a 5 to 8ish mph headwind. Okay, it’s got some stability to it. Some overstability that is. Come back in. Had to throw it pretty high to get around these trees, but I thought with the headwind we might see a little more turn. I was worried about turning over too much into the woods here. 330t downhill par 3. There is a gap. You got to hit about 200 ft down. So, you got to make sure this is going pretty straight. Now, we are well past the point where I’d be using a chalk bag. My hands are very wet. I’m super slick. And we’re going to intensify that because we’re going to take my hand-me-down Stanley that my wife no longer uses. And we’re just going to pour some water on there and we’re going to have a go on the water grip. See how accurate those commercials are. Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah, I mean that felt like three complete shanks off of the water grip, which honestly I feel like I’m a worse player than the average when it comes to grip performance when anything’s affecting my grip. I really hate it. But uh that was not the result I was hoping for. Yeah, that literally felt like it was slipping out of my hands immediately on every single throw. So, we’re going to clean this guy up, dry this off, dry off my hand, and do a real throw. Yeah, there we go. See, once it’s dry, that thing’s flying real nice. hit the tree, but got down there very well. And that leaves us pinned right up against this tree. So, we got circle two. Look here. Probably like 40 45ish feet. I will say I feel like I’m pretty much the target demographic for this disc cuz I’m a sweaty boy. Sweat check. It’s not looking good. And I’m someone who loves the gummy texture of a soft disc, but at the same time, I way, way prefer stiff discs for throwing, especially my drivers where I feel like I’m throwing hard. I want a stiff disc. Maybe it’s purely a mental thing. That’s just my preference. It’s hard to get it both ways, but I feel like this does a good job of that. Like regardless of whether or not it allows you to throw with a really wet hand, like the fact that it is this like gummy texture, but you still have great structural integrity of the disc. hike. That’s right on the money. That’s perfect. Failed the water test, but every disc would fail that water test. Now, this disc does kind of claim that it wouldn’t fail it. I think we all saw that commercial where he’s got like the Dawn dish soap all over his hand. That feels maybe a teeny bit deceptive, but also my scientific rigger is pretty rigorous right now. 322 ft par 3. You can probably see the basket off the tea. It’s straight ahead. There’s some woods to the left, woods to the right we got to avoid. So, it’s a pretty narrow corridor we got to straddle. Ideally, I’d go something a little bit underststable. I’d want like a little flip up and then just come to rest near the basket. This grace is definitely more overstable than I expect it to be. So, I’m gonna have to do something a little sneaky to get in there. Probably a little baby flex line. Yeah. Flex out. That’s going to be great. Yeah. Stop. Hit that tree. Nice. Okay. Bad roll, but that’ll set us up. Stability wise, definitely closer to a Wraith than is to your average MVP wave. my proton and my neutron waves. I can heiser flip those all day. Super easy. This guy, I definitely cannot hiser flip this grace. Now, we’re going to take this into the field against the Proton Wave just to really see how these fly. You know, it’s hard to get a good read on the flight of a distance driver when you’re playing on pretty wooded course like Indian Hill. So, we’re going to go Proton Wave versus Project Rip Grace. Throwing down onto the soccer field here. Like a 10- foot drop probably right past where I’m throwing. And then just got flat field. Let’s go, Grace. Put that on some annheiser. It’s going to fight out of that. That’s going to get some nice distance. But you see the wave. If I put the wave on any anheiser, it is a roller. For instance, let’s go wave. We’re going to do this hiser flip. So that one release on a little bit of Anheiser. This one release on a little bit of hiser. See how they compare. See, look at that on hiser turns all the way over. That’s a beautiful flight. That’s why I love the wave. And we hit the tree down there. That’s tree I think is Well, let me actually see what the tree is. So tree I’m range finding at a little over 380, like 382 ft. That’s why honestly I feel like that grace flies so much like just like my Star Wraith. Those are very, very similar discs flight-wise. So update, I just ran over there, grabbed them both. They both went past the tree by a little bit. So, they landed like literally 3 to 4 feet away from each other. Both went about 390 ft. So, first of all, my thoughts on just project grip is that it’s good. Like, it’s definitely good grip. Like, there’s no doubt about it. And it’s a unique feel because you have that gummness, but you also have that firmness. So, it’s a really cool mix. Do I think it’s this like magic grip that like you can go play in the rain with all your Project Grip discs and you’re going to have no grip troubles? No. Not. No. That is definitely not true. It’s a good plastic, but it’s not one that I feel like is this big game changer. Like, I like it. I feel like I’d prefer it. If you gave me the option to just change all my bag to this, I’d say, “Yeah, maybe I’d do that because I like the fact that it has great grip.” But it’s not like, “Oh, of course I need everything in this special unique new plastic because it’s like the best new disc golf technology.” Now, I think that would be an exaggeration. Uh, as far as just the grace goes, Grace, a great mold. Um, again, this was a little bit more overstable than I expected. like I have to annheiser flex this to get a max distance flight, but also I haven’t beaten it in. So, you know, who knows a month from now. It’s hard to say, especially with a new plastic that’s never come out before. I just don’t know how it’s going to beat in and affect the flight. Durability goes, which I didn’t mention. I I I mean, it held up well. I didn’t throw it a ton today, but, you know, there’s nothing that makes me think that it wouldn’t be durable. So, would I recommend it? I mean, yeah. I It’s a good disc. It’s a good plastic. I think I like that they released a few different molds so you can kind of choose which one best fits your game and check out the how the new plastic feels. This makes me want to grab a just stock run of grace as well and compare it. I might do that in the future. Maybe grab a few graces. I know it’s a popular mold. A lot of people like it. So, if you throw the Grace and you’d like to see that, let me know down below. But there’s a different 11-speed driver that you use, then let me know that as well. And in light of the Project Grip plastic, let me know what your favorite plastic blend is. I know people are very passionate about their plastics. I’m someone where I feel like I can kind of get by with any plastic, so I’m not super picky, but this is definitely a good choice. So, anyways, if you enjoyed this video, I’d appreciate if you consider liking and subscribing. That’d be awesome. I’m glad to see this, because the dawn dish soap throw commercial had me wondering what the grip was like as a fellow sweaty guy.
I like Halo Star plastic and Cosmic Neutron plastics the best combo of durability and grip.
I also like fission plastic quite a bit.
Bro. I live in Charleston SC, where the humidity and temp are usually about the same in the Summer, so uber wet. I hate being wet when playing. Actually play about 75% less in this heat. Anyone have anything you use that reliably helps your grip?
What’s your favorite disc golf plastic?
I’ve been wondering where my Stanley went 🤨
Haven’t watched yet but no. It will not change disc golf lol
Interesting stability on those, have to see how my project grip one throws. I have 2 stock ones, one beat in to a hyzer-flip straight disc and the other newer one is still way straighter than yours. Interesting because the l64 website mentions that the project grip plastic was more understable!
Cool video. We'll have to wait to see how grippy it is in the winter.
The dome on that Grace is insane compared to my board flat Royal one from 4 years ago.
I'm very interested in it for the winter. I play year round and in the winter between dry skin and cold slick discs having the same mold in a grippy plastic could be great. My favourite plastic is Neutron but I love K3 from Kastaplast too.
I wonder if these will have any MVP effects? I guess it depends on the density of that insert. I don’t mind a good over mold disc, but that would definitely be a detractor for some people.
The Dawn thing was bullshit lol the hand was squeezing the disc before the soap was on it
As someone who legitimately only buys star or pro plastic due to having grip issues with any other brand that isnt innova. i appreciate this fair/truthful review. a technique i often use in the summer is using the sandy dirt from my course and doing my best impression of panning for gold inside my disc for close to half of my drives. for me buying very worn used discs is my go to. because you will never get as good of a grip with a new disc as you can with some random disc you find in the used pile. plus a broken in wraith hyser flips with a much more reliable fade than a wave ever could
Interesting, exceptional reporting.
Let’s start thinking aluminum alloys covered in composite materials like carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP)
This Grace seems to match the stability of both of my Graces when they were new. I have just a purpleish/pinkish Royal Grand that was slightly overstable new and a KT signature Orange Orbit domey Grace that is verging on beefy. I wouldn't mind a softer plastic for winter time
I have the Grace in all three plastics it comes in. The project grip Grace is much more stable/overstable than the royal grand and grand orbit plastics. Personally think the Royal plastic one is too flippy. Grand Orbit is understable but workable and bombs. Project grip Grace also bombs but markedly more stable/overstable
Would love too see your throw the brave in project grip plastic see if its more stable
Did not expect a kurt angle cameo! Love it
New fission plastic is slick and is kinda meh.. but after it gets beat up and it plays in the dirt a bit it becomes the best plastic out there imho. It’s grippy in the heat but not sticky.. I’m also a sweater so I need chalk for most plastic but not with fission. It’s somehow also plenty grippy when it cools off. My only beef is that it is often too lightweight. I like my 167-172 fission plastic drivers.
Very reasonable
Awesome breakdowns. You got me as a subscriber. Cheers. 🙂
What a stupid video title.
I have to og project grip grace and I love the feel of it but I feel like my other graces go farther still.
Might have to snag one of these eventually as a rian back up for my timelapse the fission plastic for me is kinda terrible with moisture. Even if its not full grip that's gonna give me a little more confidence when used with drying methods.
rigorless got a chuckle out of me. loving the content bro
