Welcome back to Bogeybook. Today we’re going to be reviewing the GG Putters Antares putter. This beautiful putter will set you back around $350 and it comes from the heart of Italy. This thing is actually handcrafted and it even comes with a certificate of authenticity, Carl. So, you know, this thing is real fancy. And we actually got to fully spec the Enturas as well. We chose the 3° face lie angle with the jumbo grip and with the 35-in shaft as well. But something that’s really cool, they also have a full manual that shows it as well with the certificate of authenticity. They have these weights here on the back. There’s this little weight that has like an engraved circle around it. That is the main weight, which is actually the one that determines how the putter is going to react when you hit the ball. Currently, we have it set on the heel, which means that the putter is going to tend to open the face when we hit the ball. And you can actually change that. You can put it in the middle for the putter to be center balanced, and you can put it on the end for the putter to kind of close when you hit the ball, which I think is really unique. I haven’t really seen that with any other putter. But with that being said, Carl, please run down what we’re going to do today. We’re going to hit some shots, give our honest thoughts, and then we’re going to move on to the comparison with the Lab Golf DF3 putter. And after that, we’re gonna, of course, finish it off with some challenges. And it’s got this little cute custommade head cover as well. It’s really unique. I’ve never seen that before, actually. Ow. Let’s get to it. You see, the thing is, Carl, here, we haven’t actually unboxed that putter. We have We have the wrap on the grip. The wind. We apologize for the wind here, guys. The situation is not good. Okay, let’s unbox it. Let’s unbox it, right? Yeah. Show me. I’m in a closeup of this thing. I’m going to unbox it. Clean. Oh, bro. Let me just rip it. Come on. Please. Please go. That’s not working. Cooked. It’s apparently very hard to remove that from the grip. They actually did a really good job of wrapping it, though. Look at that. It’s like unboxing a Christmas present, bro. Carl’s going to be struggling the whole day here. I actually haven’t touched Well, it makes sense that we haven’t touched the grip. Let me touch that thing. Oh, what did you just lick the grip? Let me smell that, too. Wait, wait. M. Oh, that smells really good. It’s like getting new sneakers, bro. Smells like fresh tires. This actually looks like a wallet, so you can store your cards here. I mean, if you fold your scorecard in half, you can maybe put it in there. Yeah, catch that. We’re probably not going to order here, bro. Let’s take like a relatively mid distance. Straight off the bat, it looks crazy. It looks like it has jet engines on it. Feels weird. I’m not used to playing with putters who are basically on the heel. I don’t know what it’s called. It’s some kind of offset, not center balanced. I guess we’re used to playing lab golf putters, so it’s a bit of a change here. Let’s see. I’m really excited for it today. I feel like you’re going to make it. Holy crap. This thing feels definitely different. Feels kind of I don’t know. Kind of hard. I don’t want to compare it yet, but it’s got that hardshoft feel. What is a hard soft feel? What do you mean by that? You’ll try it out and you’ll see. It doesn’t compare to any putter that I’ve played before. Consistency is not bad. The spread’s crazy, not going to lie. What are you looking at there? I’m just looking at these things. I just realized there’s a 3°. Man, I got to play more with this. Like, this is the first time we’re hitting this putter. The looks are sick. I’m not really a big fan of the font right here. The grip is amazing. Finally, we get a putter with a nice grip. It’s kind of similar to the Superstroke. It’s a win with double N. First time hearing about it. The win. Probably custom. The grooves are crazy on this bad boy. But as far as you could tell with those weights, right, they have them set so the face would open at impact. Do you feel any difference with that or No. No. Okay. Can’t really feel it. But me personally, I don’t really like this thing going on the hill. I’m used to it being centered. That’s a lab golf user thing. Yeah. Yeah. Also, my Osay putter had the same thing. I had the blade putter and it went to the center. You know those little where it goes kind of to the center and this thing kind of goes back. Yeah, I know what you mean. I’ll pop it up on the screen so the people understand as well. But we just can’t articulate ourselves too well here. But take it and I want to see what you feel. But I got to play more with this thing. Thing is you can also change the faces. So if you order with a 3°, you can also order a four degree or 5 degree and you can change that up. And also you can get different weights too. So that’s pretty interesting. Can we get a 50°? I don’t think you can. But that would be really cool though. We’ll text us. Oh, the flag slapped me in the face. Bro, the wind is crazy. I don’t know if you guys can see. Bro, I think we can definitely see pretty well. What is this? There’s a sandstorm. Medium distance. I’m just going to go ahead and tell you guys, I’m not the greatest putter in the world, especially when I’m a bit rusty. So, let’s see if this thing could actually help me. Oh, not a good putt at all. But I see what you mean by it being kind of hard. I didn’t fully strike that in the center, but if I could get it in the center, let’s see that feel. That doesn’t feel bad. I’m used to the softer putters, but this I kind of get what you mean by the hard/soft feel. I could get used to this, to be honest. I need to aim a bit more left, though. That was a better line. I struck that in the center. Not putting very well. I kind of like the feel. It’s interesting. Like, it’s different. It It is different. I think it’s a pretty good switch up. There’s not really a lot you can tell in three shots. So, I think we need to move on to the comparison and hit some more shots, and that’s when we’ll be able to tell a bit better. Carl, come on, Carl. Come on. Look at this. We’re going to take out the flag short distance. This is the beauty we’re comparing it with. This is the DF3 lab golf putter. Same stats I think. Aro, right? More or less. Yeah, I believe so. 35 in long and the beautiful GG putter. 3° lie angle. All that stuff. Slight change of greens. We felt this Aro was better. Which putter are we starting with? This one. I would say you start with the on top. GG. GG. You got to run it down for the people. How are we doing this? So, basically, I’m going to hit three shots with the interasis putter, short ones, and then move on to the DF3. Then, Arrow is going to hit like medium putts, and then I’m going to finish off with the same thing, longer distance, though. I need to bang these ones in, bro. Boom. Tap in boom. Tap in. Tap in. Tap in. Save that for the challenges, Carl. Tap in. Tap in. Ooh, let’s go, baby. It feels softer on the short ones. 66.666% of putts made. That’s pretty good. Yo, now the D of3. Of course, this is our main putter. Both of us. This is Arvos’s putter. So, okay. Okay. Of course, this putter is softer than the GG putter, but still, I’m going to give props to the GG putter because this thing feels I don’t want to say it too early that I’m getting used to it and kind of I don’t want to I want to be brutally I want to be brutally honest in this review. This thing is not bad for the short ones, but you know, short ones, you can’t really feel it out. I think we’re going to see a big difference on the medium and the long putts. So, Arvo, take these bad boys. You know, you got to note that this putter is almost twice as expensive as this putter is. And I loved how when you hit the DF3, you didn’t even care where you hit it for the third shot. You’re just like, bang. Yeah, I know it’s going in. I just know that it’s forgiving. I feel like uh the GG putter is forgiving as well. I think it is pretty forgiving. You do have to strike the center. If you hit it off center, it does feel pretty hard, not going to lie. Let’s say this is a medium putt. I’m going to start off with a GG putter as well. I don’t think I’ve hold one putt yet with this putter. So, that’s nothing bad to the putter. I’m just not good with it. This green’s a bit slower. The putt felt good. I’m just putting uphill. I’m going to put some more power on it. Should probably get there. Well, that one definitely got there. It doesn’t sound like your standard putter. Yeah, I feel like I struck that pretty well in the center, too. But I definitely do feel that the club face is closing on me a little bit. Come on. Gave it wrong with that one. But, uh, I just didn’t know the distance for the first putt. Overall, I feel like I could be pretty consistent with this thing. By the way, guys, I know you all know golf is a pretty tough sport, and we’ve actually created one of the most simple guides to fix your swing ever. Go. Not the greatest put for me there. That’s in. Yeah. Not the power. Consistency wise, I would definitely give it to the DF3 in this round here, but I’m just not used to the putter. It feels good. I feel like it’s just going to take some time to get used to it, though. But you made a good point that the DF3 is double the price and it’s a really unique and specific club. It’s definitely not for all players, but when you get it, you’ll probably love it. Same with the GG putter. Definitely same with the GG putter. But Carl, please hit some long putts. What’s considered a long putt? Like from here, I guess a putt where you need a longer stroke, I would say. How do you feel about the whole zero torque craze in putters nowadays with the lab golf putter having it and all that and then a lot of manufacturers following suit and everything? I feel like uh it’s taken golf to a whole another level and I’ve heard that more and more players are getting into those zero torque putters. My friend bought a link one putter. He struggles with the zero torque. He’s still getting used to it after playing with it like 3 months. So, it depends on the person. Me and Arbo switched to the lab golf putter like a year ago and we got used to it like a month in. Oh god. Holy crap. What is this, bro? Look at the flag. But this is more classic, right? Without the zero torque, which, you know, I tend to go back to from time to time because I love feeling the good old days. Yeah. Let’s see. It going to go. It’s going to go. Good run. It feels heavier. Do you know the grams? I do not know the grams. I’ll pop the grams up on the screen for the people. You should see how Armo’s struggling in the wind. Holy crap. We’re doing our best out here. Okay, come on. Oh, that’s pushed. Go. Not bad though for a layup. Pretty good. See, last putt. Oh, it’s so smooth to hit. I don’t really care where it goes, but it’s so smooth. But the weights are so perfectly aligned for me for my back swing. Right. Back swing. I think it’s a combination of the back swing and the impact as well. It should be that the face closes with this weight setup. Do you tend to push your putts usually? I don’t know. Actually, give it a thought. Me and Arvo usually hit it like a meter or like 2 feet off the flag. So, we’re not usually hitting long putts. This is our approach shot. I like it from the long distances. might put it in the back for the long distances, bro. You can definitely see that it’s handmade. This thing is not in a Chinese factory. CNC machined aluminum. Anodized. It’s actually not anodized. Yeah, this thing is sick. And let’s do the challenge where we do the nastiest slip out. Yes. Nasty as slip out. That’s my favorite challenge. Not make it too ridiculous, but we’re going to hit it straight off of here. Test out the Texas wedge abilities of the GG putter. But we need to flip a coin. Hey Siri, flip a coin. Heads. Heads. Heads. It’s tails. I get to choose. You’re going first, Carl. I’m going to read the line off you. Yeah, I didn’t pay attention. So, it’s probably good that I pay attention right here, right now. Is a straight kind of to the left side. Oh, thank you. You’re helping me out. I don’t know how strong should I hit it. Uh, nor do I. That’s a very long putt. G. Oh my god, I’m cooked. That’s a bit short. Oh my god. That is indeed a bit short. Let’s uh try to best that. I don’t know if I can best it, but I didn’t even hit the center. I hit it like here. You hit the GG. I got too excited. That’s pretty interesting, though. And when you hit the GG, it’s GG for your putt. That’s not that bad to be honest. Oh, it’s cooked. You got to hit it pretty strong here. I mean, that’s better. See hit it a bit long, but I think that is a little bit closer than yours. That is God. It’s so easy. You got to make it for the brand. I’m going to even hold the flag for you. Here you go, Carl. I’mma make it though. Look at this. POV. No, I got cooked. But you have a chance. This is serious. It’s our bad guys. We’re just bad putters. This one’s for Grant. Come on. I absolutely zoomed that. That’s a four putt. No, actually I I’m going to clutch clutch this up. Three putt. Well, that was in because you you blocked me. Fair enough. I’ll give it to you. We’re having fun with this putter. I’m having a lot of fun with it. I like the feel. I don’t know. It’s different. It’s not soft. It’s not hard. It’s hard. Caroft. I’m telling you, bro. It’s at the start of the video. It’s hard. It’s different. I have not felt this in any putter. This isn’t a paid promo or anything, but they did send this product to us. So, thank you guys over there in Italy. We love you guys. But with that being said, Carl, I think we got to move on to the final thoughts. We love you, GG’s. Love to GG. Here are the final thoughts. First of all, I want to say huge love to Italy. I mean, they handcrafted this piece. It’s unique. It’s customade. It’s really cool to see products that are direct to consumer because these things are not selling in like pro shops, right? This is a statement piece. This is a story. if you buy it. I mean, everybody’s gonna ask, “What is this?” I love that it has this big grip. I know Arvo likes it as well because we like big grips. The thing that I also want to say about the positives, it has that really nice weight system that I’ve never seen in any putter. Actually, it’s really cool that you can put this weight in different locations and then the heavier weight balances out the face to make it hit however you need to hit to compensate for your swing, which is really nice if you’re a shanker with a putter. Moving on to the negatives though, it does have that soft/h hard feel. It’s more of a negative if you like the soft feel. And honestly, I would say that this putter does not have too many negatives. This next one is a pretty subjective one as well, but when you see the brand for the first time, you think, “Oh, GG putters. What is that brand? I’ve never heard of it.” Well, it’s a relatively small brand compared to like all the Tailor Made and Odysseies and stuff like that, which might give you the impression that the putters would not be as good. Which, to be honest, me and Carl were kind of on that boat where we were like, I don’t know if this is really going to be that good or is it not, but it’s really, really good. Yeah, we like the putter. We like the setup. We like the grip. We like the feel. Pretty good putter for the price to be honest. What would you rate it? Oh crap. From one to 1 to 10. 1 to 10. 1 to 10. Out of nowhere, the GG putter. I’ll give it a solid seven. Okay. Seven. Seven. Okay. Seven. I’d give it a 7.5. Giving it a total rating of a 7.25 from the Bogey Boys. It’s good though. It’s good. It’s really good.
