He’s back.
After missing the American Century Championship last summer in South Lake Tahoe for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Warriors star Steph Curry is returning to the links this weekend in search of another trophy.
The 2023 ACC champion spoke about shaking off the golf tournament rust in an exclusive interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole on Thursday at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, and Curry knows he has prepared all he can.
“So I’ve learned playing in this tournament for what 10, 11 years, you have expectations, and you’re trying to — it’s almost like pulling an all-nighter for a test, trying to cram everything,” Curry told Poole. “Because, you know, I play a decent amount, but nobody ever says, ‘I play enough golf or practice enough.’ So as long as I have a good idea of what I’m trying to do, then I can just live with the results, which is where I’m at now.

“Just super happy to be up here again after taking the year off for good reason. [My] game feels good, but you can’t win it on Friday. You just kind of have to pace yourself. So that’s where I’m at.”
While Curry was winning a gold medal with Team USA last summer, he still was able to watch the tournament and see Mardy Fish walk away with the ACC title — one year after the tennis star finished second behind Curry in 2023 following the point guard’s trophy-clinching putt.
The four-time NBA champion has experienced some electric atmospheres across his prolific basketball career, and he’s eager to be back in one of golf’s most entertaining environments.
“It doesn’t really feel like it feels like a year, just because last year was so loud in Paris, but I did watch the tournament and watched Mardy Fish win. My dad and my brother was sending pictures and videos; they were here last year, so I kind of got to live vicariously through all of them, even though I wasn’t here.
“But I’m excited to be back. This energy is unlike anything other, anything I have you can experience in golf.”
