As a kid, I saw him at a few Senior tournaments in my hometown, and I always remember him being really kind to us kids and generally just really pleasant to be around.

He’s the best

Reminiscent of the infamous GB’s putt

Gary’s great, just ask him!
icecreamdude97
He designed the course I grew up on. Tougher than she looks!
JC1515
I love how simplistic and fundamental the old timers keep golf.

Can someone explain the hand swiping thing he was doing to the kids hand? I’ll take any advice I can get at this point lol
YouDaManInDaHole
I read somewhere that Player would practice bunker shots until he holed out 10x.
thats_just_my_game
I hate how simple this concept is portrayed because none of it applies to the courses the average golfer plays. The bunkers I hit out of are muddy clay with the tiniest amount of dusty sand on top. You’d need a 200 mph swing speed to scoop the material under the ball
xanderpo
WRONG! He’s teaching me, and I’m not that young!

GP is a fucking bore, literally won’t leave people alone. I play at his club in SA half a dozen times a year and if he corners you, it’s 20 minutes of stories that mostly revolve around how great his accomplishments were, how he can still do everything he did when he was 25 or unsolicited lessons when he pops out of a fucking bush on the course (you think I’m joking, I wish I was).
A legend, no doubt. Has nearly everything, except humility. This man is the living embodiment of outstaying your welcome.
I think Faldo quipped that at the Masters dinner he sneaks in early and checks the place settings and if he’s anywhere near Player, he moves.
Edit: Spelling.

Don’t hate the Player ….. hate the game.

This guy has spent more time in the sand and David Hasselhoff.

Ol boy still got them hands.

I met him 30 plus years ago and he was extremely kind and took his time to talk to the fans. Nice to see he’s still out there being a great guy
Anyone else remember the Hardees classic that eventually turned into tpc Deere Run ?
Those were fun days meeting some of the greats of golf

What a player!
BidetBlaster
I literally just took a penalty drop today when I went in the bunker cause I don’t have this shot
CanuckDadeh
May as well give me a shovel cause I definitely dig into the sand.
Mr_Claypole
He only just made it out on that first one. Bunkers are hard.

I got a chance to be a private chef for Mr. Player years ago for a couple events for his family. No doubt one of the nicest and kindest people you will ever meet. Also, his family were just like him just overall great people.
