The first time I ever got the comparison to Happy Gilmore’s Caddy was I won the 2015 uh collegiate showcase. Typical college kid. I hadn’t gotten a haircut in like six or seven months and so it was like just kind of like flown out of the back of my head and some guy like commented like, “Man, this guy looks like the kid that Gilmore fired in and Happy Gilmore.” And so then once I finished Second at Augusta, uh, Adam ended up tweeting and reaching out to me and I was just laughing cuz he sends this text and it’s just like very typical like him where it’s like, “Oh man, I love it. You got it all going on right now, man.” But you can just when you read the text, you just hear it in his voice. Yeah. So it just makes it that much. It’s like, “Oh man, you got it all going on right now, man.” You know, it’s like, [Music] “Welcome to the Vanity Index podcast. very excited for today’s episode. Um, a little bit later we’re going to have our good friend Sarah O’Brien, who is our social media liaison, come on the show and show us kind of what’s trending out there on on the web. And then uh your good buddy, a guy who’s in your new movie uh in Happy Gilmore 2, Will Zurus will be joining us. Will is joining the show and uh he is one of my favorite people that I’ve gotten to know. He’s so smart. He’s so funny and was an instant yes when we reached out and said, “Hey, do you want to be in Happy Gilmore 2?” And he was basically like, “I’m in.” Yeah. You know, so can’t wait to talk to him. He’s back in Dallas. He’ll be calling into the show or dialing into the show. Um we’ll tell some stories. We’ll talk about behind the scenes on the set. I’m so curious like his experience of getting to do it. You know, obviously being associated with that movie since he kind of came onto the scene looking like, you know, Happyy’s Caddy. Yeah. And uh and so we’re excited to uh to bring Will on the show. He’s He’s the best, man. Yeah. I remember when it started where everyone was like, “He looks like that kid on Happy Gilmore 2 the caddy.” And then he won and I remember Adam tweeted out like, “Happy’s very proud of you.” You know, that’s a good Sandler. Was it okay? Yeah, that was pretty good. That’s good. Um I’m not brave enough to do impressions on a podcast. Well, I can always just edit or drunk enough. I don’t know. Yeah. Do you want a drink? No, I’m good. I’m good. You sure? Yeah, I’m great. Great. Um, what did you do last night? Why why are you why are you on the struggle bus today? Uh, we played we played golf but like went out late so I had a busy day in the office working really late but I had some colleagues in from out of town and um and you know sort of a big long meeting and the plan was to go over and play golf in the afternoon and uh and it just like the meeting went like an extra two hours. So, um, so we ended up kind of like running in hot. And, you know, everybody’s relieved the day’s over, work’s been done, and, uh, and so we just, you know, grabbed some drinks to go try to play like nine holes or 12 holes or whatever we can get in. And and, you know, it just kind of went a little faster than I maybe thought, but u but, yeah, I’m I’m doing fine, Welss. I’ll be all right. I’ll be all right. I’ll I’ll I’ll rise to the occasion here. We got Will. I got to, you know, we got to make it great. Yeah. Um, we did, by the way, as per usual, we did play Hammer. And we we played a new version, by the way, drink every time Chad says Hammer on this podcast. We will never be able to make it through. I’m going to I’m going to patent Hammer. I can’t patent Hammer, but I need to find I mean, I feel like I’m the the ambassador, global ambassador for Hammer. Do you think there will ever be a game that you like more on the golf course than Hammer? You know, if there is, I haven’t found it. Yeah. It just makes it exciting every single hole. I want um the VIPers out there to send us some of your games, some of your bets. I think that would be a lot of fun. Yeah. And we’ll go try them out. I think that’s a really good idea. Yeah. So, if you could if go to the the Vanity Index podcast Instagram page and DM us and do a video if you can, uh explaining your game, your bet, and then we’ll play them on the show. I think that’d be really fun. Yeah. And I’d say like we want two different kinds. I want head-to-head betting games. So like you know 2v2 or 1v one games and I would love like a group game where it’s individual. So you know it’s if you’ve got five or six like a wolf kind of thing. Yeah. Be so curious to see your variations. We have we talked about dots or points. Yeah. I mean I I like No, I don’t think we have. But like games with a lot of junk. Yeah. Yeah. Bies and Sandies and Greenies and Long Drive and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. I just I feel like that’s the domain of the high handicapper and that’s the most Do you think only low handicappers listen to this show? A guy who wears a visor. Okay. Like it’s if you’re listening to this show, it’s about, you know, kind of private club life in Hollywood and how us idiots ended up in this universe. But um yeah, I don’t know. I really associate that stuff with like high handicap games or like scrambles or things like that. Um but it is fun. I mean, there was a there was a regular game at our club that um that had a ton of junk in it and uh and actually the the member who organized it, you know, passed away at much younger age than he should have. So, that’s pretty tragic. So, I think that there’s not that regular game anymore. But, but you know, it was everything. It was like there was junk, there was barkies, there was Sandies, there was like basically a version of polies where you’d have to, you know, you’d three putt, you’d pay out every way. I mean, and you’d look at this guy’s card and it was like it looked like Braille, you know, he had just like everything and you the numbers would add up. So, I don’t know. What about you? Do you have you played that stuff? Do you like those kind of games? It’s funny. My dad used to play that a lot, but so it at our club it’s called Dots. I thought when I grew up it was called Junk. Yep. And yeah, it was it was I think it was Greenies, Birdies, Sandies. But then when we got to the club, someone started telling me about Barkies and it’s like, “Oh, so if I can bank one off a tree, I could win some money.” Yeah. The barkies are good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then you get in all these variations of like you got to validate, you know, and I’m like if you’re going to play junk, just like play it straight up junk. Yeah, I I do remember that. Like long drive, you have to make par to validate. To validate it. Yeah, I like that. Yeah, I’m not the longest hitter, so long drives don’t really get me that excited. But here’s the thing, though. You have to be in the fairway for long drive. So that’s true. Well, it’s also too like, have you ever played in an event where they have like a long drive guy that you could use or like one of those cannons that shoots the ball and you can either like buy it or use it? I don’t know about you, but I’m like I want to hit the T-shot. Like I like I’m playing golf. I It’s cool. It’s fun to like blast a golf ball with like a or have a long driver go. Actually, that reminds me once I did play in an event that had that and it was a long drive guy and he was like obviously so hung over or maybe drunk and like could not hit the fairway to save his life. So he’d be like, “All right, we’re taking the long drive guy.” And he’d just be like boom, like snap hook it like it’s 200 yards into the dirt like gone and be like, “Oh, sorry.” You know, just not moving it today. And it’s like, “Come on.” Yeah. You know, that’s a lot of pressure if you’re the long drive dude. I know. It’s got to be tough. You know, I I played in that LPGA um prom every year and uh this guy named Maurice who’s like a long drive champion was was is there every single year, right? But he never hits driver. He only hits four iron. Of course, his four iron goes 300 yards, but I’m like, Maurice, you’re not here to hit, you know, to hit four irons. You’re here cuz people want to see you go with the long ball, you know? Yeah. Yeah. So, that’s like Bubba Watson. They used to do a long drive contest at the PGA Championship on like a practice round and it was like an official competition and Bubba just would like refuse to do it. And that was back when he was like by far the longest hitter on tour, one of them. And he just like hit four iron out of spite. Yeah. I’m like, that’s ballsy. But yeah, it’s good times. All right, we’re going to do a fun new thing on VIP. We’re going to bring in our uh social media liaison, Sarah O’Brien. Sarah, how are you? I’m good. How are you? I’m doing good. You’ve been scouring the internet for some like viral videos, fun stuff online. What do you have for us today? Well, we’re going to start with how girlfriends really feel about golf and why girls hate their boyfriends playing golf. Yeah, this is a real problem that we have. I don’t really understand why girlfriends get annoyed when their boyfriends go to play golf. Like I think it’s so cute. Like I’m going to golf. I just got to grab my little bag. I’ll grab my little bag. Go to golf club and I’m going to spend like 4 hours hitting a ball. Like how harmless of you. And then if they have a bad if they have a bad golf game, it’s not cute. But it’s not I think it’s so cute. Just let them go play golf. That’s all they want to do. It’s all they want is to play golf. Just leave them alone. I got to go play golf. God, I love her. My little gloves. And I’ll be like, I got new gloves. Got new balls. Just clap for them. Go, sweetie. Yeah. never really understood the the hatred that um girlfriends and wives have of golf. Like there are so many worse things I could be doing, but yeah, I’m just I’ve got my little clubs and I’ve got my little balls and my gloves and I’m just having a good time out there. I got to send that to my wife honestly. Be like, “Look at this aspirational lady who’s just really setting a bar.” Yeah. For all of us out there, you know? That’s so nice. That’s so nice. I love that. I love that. Sarah, what? Fill us in here. What’s the What’s the deal with it? As on the other side, it’s like if you bring a guy, if a guy takes you on a date and they put in 20 seconds into their outfit or you’re bringing them to meet your friends and parents and they just look like a mess and then the day before their golf game, they’re setting out their polo and their belt and their trousers and there’s everything matches. They care so much. So, that’s one thing. And then two, it’s like boyfriends will make girlfriends feel like what they’re telling them all the time, like what kind of nails do I want to do? And telling them, “Oh, so and so broke up with so- and so.” And they’re like, “I don’t care. I don’t care.” And then you want to come home and talk about playbyplay, shot by shot for a game that has no relevance to our lives personally. And then they’ll say, “Oh, I was 5 feet from a hole in one.” And it’s like, “Well, what’d you win?” It’s like nothing. It’s like, “What would you have won?” “Well, my friends saw.” And it’s like, “Okay, I don’t care.” And so it’s like years of hearing how our opinions and our gossip and whatever is irrelevant and then you you have to listen. Yeah. I feel like golf matches like for golfers that’s the only time that guys are really gossiping. Yeah. I think that’s the by far the only thing I gossip about with my friends 100%. Talking about other rounds, talking about other players, who’s slow, who’s fast, who you know, if you get a hole in one is a huge deal. You’re like so happy for somebody. Yeah. I saw something on the internet that where it was just like, “God, bros being bros, but it’s like the most happy you’d ever be for one of your friends is like, yeah, you got married, you have some kids, it’s great, you know, promotion at work.” No, hole-in-one. It’s like, “Oh my god, I’m so happy for you.” Yeah. It’s incredible. Wow. I’ve been in a group where I’ve gotten the hole in one, and I’ve been in a group where someone else has gotten the hole in one. And here’s the thing, it’s the same feeling. Mhm. If you did it or someone else did it, it’s the same feeling of just like pure like jubilance and just joy. Well, even if you hear it on the course, it could be somebody else’s hole and you hear it and you’re like, who was it? Looking looking at the app, who’s buying me drinks? Yeah. Everybody starts driving over for their drink. All right. I like that first one. What else do you have for us? Well, the result of Girlfriends Hating Golf is this new idea of Only Fan, which is hilarious. So, it’s this girl talking about her new gig she has going. And I think you have the clip. What is going on? You’re picking up brunch. You have a new designer bag. Did you win the lottery or something? I’ve been making a ton of cash talking to men on Only Fan. You’re getting naked on the internet for money. Not Only Fans. only fan. What is that? It’s a phone line where men can call in to talk to someone about their golf game. Why would they pay for that? When a man finishes playing a round of golf, all he wants is to talk to his wife or his girlfriend about it, but they don’t care. That’s where I come in. They pay me to listen. I’m literally their only fan. What do they say? What his score was, what his score should have been, how he should have warmed up longer on the range. A cart girl that he thinks is into him. Oh, it’s Oliver. He’s one of my regulars. He says he’s an eight handicap, but in reality, he’s probably a 15. This will be quick. Hey, Ollie. Three burgers in a row. Wow, that must be a new record for you. Ooh, my hot dog’s here. Oh, you’re only at the turn. Well, call me when you’re done. [Music] So good. That’s too good. I The number one most liked comment was, “I just looked in the app store and I can’t find it. Yeah, you just want you just want to tell someone about your round, you know? You just want to talk about the I mean, three birdies in a row. That’s that’s that is like breaking news. You got to get that out there. I mean, I do feel like a little bit of like a school girl when sometimes I come home after a really good round. I’m like on my bed like feet kicking in the in the background being like, “Okay, so then this is what happened on 14.” You’re lucky that uh that Sarah will listen to that. Yeah. No, I call like my friend, so she doesn’t care. Yeah, she doesn’t care at all. That’s nice of you. Yeah. All right. Uh, last one. What do you got? So, now we have Marcel Seam, who claims that he has broken about three course records completely hammered. Oh my god. Yeah. Marcel Seam, DP World Tour stalwart. I mean, that’s the only way I play. Yeah, I play golf. I feel like the only chance I would get to break a course record would be after a couple drinks. But hammered. I think I had three calls records completely hammered without sleep. It’s it’s crazy. Sorry, say that one more time. I had three calls records in my life. Completely hammered without sleep. Like people now looking where does Marine have course record? Well, people are now people are now ordering. The best one. I can tell one, but you know they are not cause records now anymore. But but uh Pebble Beach was the best one. Oh wow. Pebble Beach. I should three parted 18. a you shoot 61 62 and I I didn’t even know I didn’t even know about it and then I just want to go to bad guys and he said no no no interviews interviews you just uh um share the the course record with Tom Watson Jack Nicholas Tiger Woods with 30 legends I mean just three pilot you know why did you tell me that before I went for the eagle you know hit that pass and uh Oh no I mean god that’s awesome puked twice that round. Have you ever puked on the course? I I don’t think so. Sarah. Sarah. Happened to me, but I made it to the bathroom. But was it hung over related or was it completely hung over? It was in like a two-day tournament, but it was like 108 degrees the next day. Terrible. Brutal. I don’t think I have, but I’ve been I’ve been like doubled over on my knees been like, “Okay, I got to I got to do some things.” Usually I just start drinking again. That fixes the No, you have to start right away. Right when you get there. Definitely. Yeah. No, I mean I I don’t think I’ve ever puked on the course, but I’ve definitely been I’ve definitely been gone like pretty bad. Yeah. Just in the car ride home immediately asleep. It’s like 1:00 in the afternoon. You’re like, “Oh, it’s not great.” Yeah, you can you can get over your skis pretty quick. But Marcel Seam clearly, you know, can handle it. So, do we think he’s German? Had a sort of a German accent. It felt German. Danish, something like that. Yeah. You know, this is the land of loggers and nails. Yeah, the German John Dailyaly. Good for him. That’s right. I love it. It’s so fun to see these pro golfers talking about their uh their their their drinking. I I do have a This actually reminds me of a story once. I played in a ProAm with a very celebrated player. It was in Vegas and um and this person showed up very late to their tea time and I happened to know that they were out late the night before. Yeah. with um with a couple of my friends who were there and um and I’ll never forget like watching him drive out because we went and teed off first and we were like I don’t know if he’s going to show up, you know, this is like maybe not going to be here. and he uh and he rolls in, he’s being driven out by like another, you know, one of the assistant pros or something and he just looked like death and you know, he shakes everybody’s hands like how you doing, you know, and then he goes and gets his driver out and hits it like 320 right down the middle and I was like, “How do you do that?” You know, like a little light stretch and then just right down he’s like, “Oh man, it’s a big club. He’s just swinging hard, you know.” And it was funny for like for like an hour he like couldn’t hit his irons cuz they were like you know he has these blades and and you know he skank these like skank an eight iron like hook a pitching wedge and then driver just boom right down the middle. He’s like yeah man the club’s big like whatever you can’t miss it. I’m like that’s how I think about driver. And I told him we had a there was a cart, you know, coming around serving booze. And so I, you know, surreptitiously ordered two uh sort of double tequilas. And I was like, “Listen, man. Like I I got you for the next like for the next six six holes. Like I can try to hang with this group and get like the energy going, but I’m going to need you on the back nine.” And uh and you know, he got it in them and he and he turned it around. So you know, it’s doable. I feel like there’s something about golf and alcohol that like makes it you can actually make the sport better. And one funny funny thing is that like golf is actually a banned substance or alcohol is a banned substance on the PGA Tour. Really? Yeah. So you think about like steroids and you know like all these other pro sports but but alcohol is actually a banned substance. Ridiculous cuz it is performance-enhancing sometimes especially in golf. Yeah. Cuz you just Well, it’s relaxing. Yeah. Right. And and you know remove some of your inhibitions and that’s like one of the hardest parts about golf is to like get rid of the fear. So, uh, and there’s so many stories of like these these old school dudes in the 90s like just, you know, that’s giant cup. It’s like they ain’t water in there, you know, play the PGA Tour, you know, hammered. Um, but yeah, I love it. All right, Sarah, thank you for um for scouring the internet and finding those. Those are great. Will you keep doing this for us? Yes, sure. All right. Uh, quick break. When we come back, uh, the star of a new movie called um, what is it? Um, I’ve got it in my notes here. Will burst onto the scene with a runner-up finish at the 2021 Masters and hasn’t looked back since. But now he’s joining the ranks of us Hollywood folk getting into a new movie that well Chad is producing called Happy Gilmore 2. Welcome onto the Vanity Index podcast, Will Zallurus, a man whose camera isn’t working, so we’ve got him on the phone. Will, how are you, bud? Good. Thanks, brother. I appreciate that. That was nice. I’m excited to have you on um the show because like let’s be honest, I feel like this was destiny for you to be in this movie. I remember like I think you won you won a tournament and I remember Adam Sandler tweeting out like I’m proud of you. Uh like happy he’s proud of you. I I’m just wondering what was that moment like for you? Yeah. So, the first time I ever got the comparison to Happy Gilmore’s Caddy was I won the 2015 uh collegiate showcase for what’s now Genesis Open, Genesis Invitational, you know, LA Open. And um I remember I like typical college kid. I hadn’t gotten a haircut in like six or seven months. And so it was like just kind of like flowing out of the back of my head and um some guy like commented like, “Man, this guy looks like the kid that Gilmore fired and Happy Gilmore.” And so then it kind of didn’t really pick up for a while. And then through co um I started flying really good but it was there was nobody out there just because it for about a year just because of co but like I kept getting these interactions because I kept bumping my way up on tour and you know it’s like oh he looks like Owen Wilson he looks like uh Gilmore’s caddy like and so once I finished second at Augusta uh Adam ended up tweeting and reaching out to me and then It was kind of funny. 3 weeks later, I ended up getting engaged. And so, he ended up trying to call me, but he didn’t know that was the morning I was getting engaged. And so, I like I I like didn’t pick up, but I was uh it was just kind of funny because I told him, you know, like, hey, I uh I just got engaged this morning and like everything’s been going great. Really appreciate it. And I was just laughing because he sends this text and it’s just like very typical like him where it’s like, “Oh man, I love it. You got it all going on right now, man.” But you could just when you read the text, you just hear it in his voice. Yeah. So it just makes it that much it’s like a man, you got it all going on right now, man. You know, it’s like and so he’s just he’s such a good dude. I mean, he’s been so nice and um he’s so funny. like it’s just so naturally like like him and his guys like filming was so much fun just because they’re all like they’ve all been around each other for like 35 years and it’s almost like him and especially Adam and Eur buddy like they just like look at each other and they just like kind of know like it’s it’s just really interesting to watch how they’re like kind of reading each other’s minds with it. But it’s it’s it was so cool. He’s he’s been such a good dude to me about all this. So awesome, man. Well, walk us through your experience like on the movie because I you had never had you ever met him in person before you came onto set back in the fall. No, I mean we had texted a little bit um just like very like you know if I start if I won like when I won the tournament or like started playing good or he check in on me. um you know like he called me uh like I think it was like a couple days after I announced that I had surgery and he was like he just was like first want to check in where it’s like hey I need to talk to you like you know it was like it was like his goal for the day was for me to pick up the phone and talk to him like that that’s just kind of what it seems like where it’s like he has your he has like all of his attention is on you now and it’s like that’s how he is and he’s he’s so allin and so I’d never met him But it was just really funny the first time I meet him. He’s uh he’s in full Happy Gilmore gear because we’re on the set. But it was just great how like I showed up right before he was about to go do a scene for the movie, but he was just kind of sitting there, you know, kind of shooting the breeze with me and then all of a sudden he goes, “All right, I got to go now.” And he just goes over and he, you know, does his thing and he just goes straight into being him. And it’s like it’s just so funny because it when you watch him it’s like it’s just kind of him being him like underneath it all. Like he’s just he just loves like having a good time. So he’s he’s so he’s so talented. It’s unbelievable. And you know I’ve said this before on this podcast, but it’s it’s so humbling to be with somebody who’s so famous, but it’s so obvious like that they’ve earned it because of their talent, you know? And and obviously it’s I there’s a real comparison with golfers, you know. It’s like you guys aren’t gifted out there, you know? It’s like it’s not a given that you you can go and do what you do. It takes all this work and talent and you’ve earned your way onto the tour. And that’s that’s what it’s part of the reason why I think golf is such a great platform for storytelling because there’s no scouting reports. There’s no like, you know, oh, this coach thinks this kid’s got talent. It’s like it’s just the numbers and you either shoot them or you don’t. And you can kind of come from anywhere. Um, and I feel that way about Adam, too. like he’s just earned it because he’s so funny and he’s so clever and the way his mind works and how he understands comedy and you’re right he like mind melds with Tim Hurley. Um it’s just it’s awesome and it’s so fun when you do meet your heroes and they like exceed expectations, you know. I feel like that’s pretty rare in this world and man Sandler is definitely one of those. I don’t know if you feel that way too but Oh yeah. No, I mean like there’s even things that I’ve you know that I’ve heard about like um like little things like we were talking about um just go with it when we’re on set. Um because that was I told him I was like look I I I don’t know how you do this movie thing but like I got up here at 5:00 a.m. yesterday and I didn’t leave till 8 and then I get home and your ugly mug is on my TV so like give it a rest. I know you’re in like every movie and you don’t need to work anymore. But I’m like the first thing I’m like I’m doing is I’m like literally seeing like him and Jennifer Aniston. They’re like bickering doing the fake fighting and everything. And I was like I told him the next morning I was like man 14 hours of you. It was pretty fun. He goes he goes he was like he’s like my wife doesn’t even want 14 hours of me. But he uh he just made it so fun. Like one of the funnier things was when we were filming there was a like one of the scenes was like pseudo serious but we were like at the end of the day we’re all like I was exhausted. I don’t know how he does like it’s like even though it’s a comedy movie and we just think it’s a bunch of guys hanging out having a good time. It is so much work. Like it is like he does not need to do this anymore. Like I don’t know if like his like he’s doing his whole comedy tour this summer. He’s working like crazy. Does not need to do this anymore by the way, but he just loves doing it and he like he knows like how important his work is to people and like how much it matters. And so it’s like when you get someone who’s like that real, it’s like it’s it’s really cool to be around him. But I mean he’s just like he’s just on all the time. Like I don’t know how he functions, but he’s just he does not turn off. like he just has seven cups of coffee a day and it’s just like he just takes about a three-hour nap and calls that a night and he’s like, “Let’s just go. Let’s just keep going. I got to keep going.” Well, it was amazing too filming with him cuz he just never he’s always there. Like he’s, you know, he’s he’s basically on set at all times, you know? He goes and gets his hair and makeup. He’s probably the first person in there getting it done. He shows up when everyone else is there. He’s there for every single scene. He’s watching playback. He’s talking to the director. He’s talking to Herlehe. He’s like, “Ah, that’s funny. That’s funny.” funny. You know, they’re coming up with new lines and variations and you know, you just again, he doesn’t need to do it, but man, he puts the movie on his back. And I think like that’s why that’s why I’m so confident in this movie being like great and iconic cuz he’s just, you know, he’s just putting everything he has into this, you know, his his most iconic character. So, um, I want I want you to tell us a little bit about like what’s it from from a pro golfer’s perspective, like what was it like making a movie? So, you know, we called you um to see if you wanted to be in the movie, which I think is it’s really cool because it’s obvious that Adam like wrote a part for you into the film, which is pretty cool. And they wrote a whole scene, you know, around you. Um, but once we kind of got it set up and we knew you were coming, like I think you didn’t you do like some acting lessons or there was an acting coach. Like I want to hear all the details about what it was like for you being on set, being in a movie. Yeah. So, I ended up not doing like I think we were offered an acting coach. I know a couple other guys ended up using them, but the kind of the beauty of it is it’s just like I he kind of told me to be me, but just kind of be me in like a certain attitude at some point in times. And so, it’s like there was like one scene where we were kind of pseudo serious and it’s like I am not a professional at this at all. never took any drama lessons, never did anything, you know, like remotely into acting, but he just is like kind of standing there and he’s just like trying to like kind of get in a serious attitude and he goes, “Ah, will whole family hates you. Nobody likes you. Nobody likes you. Good scene here. Good scene here coming.” Yep. Whole [ __ ] family hates you. I’m like, like I don’t even know what’s going on. Like Like I’m dying laughing and I’m like I don’t know how to what am I supposed to do? Like I I can’t hide this laughter. Like I’m this is not what I’m made for. Like I go hit a golf ball for a living. I can’t stand in front of Adam Sandler and you ask me not to laugh. Like that’s not what I’m good at. But um note work. Yeah. No, it was um I mean it’s just there were so many funny like little moments. Uh, I mean just like trying to do thing like without giving away the movie, trying to basically act like a complete buffoon and like but also still make it me. And so it was just kind of a cool like really cool thing. I mean I got the script um and read it. I think I was on a plane and was like literally like sitting on a corner like this just reading the scripts like on the corner of the plane just like literally dying laughing and trying to hide it and just make sure nobody saw it. And I was just cracking up like reading like all the parts that he threw in there. Like there’s just little things that even when I was on set how like maybe kind of like a nothing scene that maybe just doesn’t really like it’s supposed to be like a little just a little thing. all of a sudden it turns into, well, hey, let’s add in these two guys and let’s talk about this and let’s see how this goes and like does this feel like it’s like being on the PJ tour. Okay, what do we have to do with like the locker room setup? Like what do we, you know, do we have to move stuff around? You know, like what’s it like on a normal week? And so like he Adam was super curious about like kind of how like our day-to-day stuff goes on tour. Like he wanted it to be as organic as possible. Um, and so, you know, he brought in a lot of the top guys, but it’s also like we’ve also had like this little rapport, I guess, of like we kind of took the first movie and then put in some new guys, put kind of took some of the stuff from the first movie and turned into 2025 stuff. And it’s just kind of fun. I mean, it’s like it’s just it’s amazing how smart he is and how he’s able to put so many celebrities into one timeline and make it hilarious. Like, there’s just so many people that are in this movie and there’s so many layers that it’s like it took them 30 years of thinking through this thing to like put it together. And so, um, you know, I’m very lucky and hopefully didn’t do too much damage to this. Um, but it was, uh, it was really cool. I mean, just like the little things where, you know, trying to get guys to like talk a little bit out of their norm or whatever where it’s like, okay, I’m a little nervous. I’m on set. And it’s like, it’s like, no, just speak. Just be you. You know, you be you and I’ll be me. And so I think that’s kind of why it was so fun was we just were kind of like honestly doing the same thing in a locker room. Like I’m getting made fun of for my tight pants. Like it’s the same stuff every week. Like it doesn’t change. Do you um do you guys have is there a little camaraderie at all uh with some of the other guys who were in the movie? Like did you guys come back together when you were back on tour and you were like how crazy was that? Was there any chatter about people? Because there you know there’s a lot of you guys in the movie. There’s a ton of, but also also this is what I want to know is I imagine it was a tough ticket to get. Are there your do you have some contemporaries that are super salty that they didn’t get the invite to be in the movie? You know, I I don’t know of any, but I’m sure there are a few. Um I know that some guys had some corporate conflicts going on, which was kind of funny to look back on where I’m like, really? Like that’s that’s what you have going on? like you can’t move that like Yeah. Um but uh yeah. No, I mean I think I don’t know of anybody being salty about not being on there. I think the part that it’s actually really good is the fact that we have like guys from Liv, guys from the PJ tour and it’s like the top of the top and it just kind of takes away that level of like BS and it honestly is like Adam is like the one guy who could honestly get us back in our room. Like, yeah, kind of. Like, in all honesty, like if you were to just say like, “Hey, I want to get you 12 guys and we’re gonna go sit in a room.” Like, I guarantee at least two of them would be like, “No, I’m I’m good.” But Adam’s one of the few guys on the planet that can just get all of us hanging out together and, you know, make a fun movie. And um it’s not there’s any animosity between us all. It’s it honestly is just kind of more of like this is just the world of golf that we’ve been in for the last three years. And it’s like this is literally what it took just like stating the facts. Like so it’s uh it was fun. I mean it was fun seeing guys but like JT and I Justin Thomas and I were in a bunch of stuff together. So like we’ve I mean I’ve known him since I was like 13 too like playing junior golf. And so we’ve got a long you know he checks in on me every now and again since I had surgery. And so we’ve we’ve talked a bunch about it. But it’s so fun. like your guys’s um like you’re a little bit of like a comedy duo though. Uh the there’s a commercial where you’re playing the cello and like I I think it’s a foot choice thing and and he’s like I didn’t know you could play the cello and then you say like it’s pronounced uh cello cello which is so funny. Uh and I was like damn Zurus has got like comedy chops. Like I don’t know. I I hide it. But I think it’s kind of funny just because like I I mean I don’t know. It was It was just so funny because like JT and I were like able to kind of like riff a little bit during that shoot. And so there was one where it’s like where I’m like it’s actually pronounced cello and he’s like oh three and a half years wake for his education. And I’m like oh man roll tide. Jeez. like you like like and they were and they were just kind of like the the guys at FO were just kind of like okay like we can’t use that like let’s let’s focus back on what we’re trying to do here but we’ve just known each other for so long and he’s he loves throwing a needle at people. I mean just loves it. So it’s uh yeah you guys and and you guys were the first two golfers on set. So it was the first golf scenes that we shot in the whole movie really was was Will and Justin together and um and so it was yeah they were like our guinea pigs and they got to you know be get that whole experience kind of before anybody else came. Um but you guys were great and and honestly we we you know it’s not really joking that you’re the star of the movie. I mean you really do amazingly well in the film and the finished version of it. Like it’s it’s legitimately funny and like you’re playing a character which is also really cool. you know, some of the guys are really just playing themselves, but you actually had you had like a bit that you had to do and you had to act and it’s the timing is really good. And actually of you know, I kept asking uh Sandler like as it was getting cut because I didn’t I didn’t you know see the whole film until like you know a couple months ago. I’m like how are the guys doing in the edit you know he’s like dude they’re freaking hilarious. He’s like but Will steals the show. He’s like Will is so good. He’s so funny. He’s like that guy couldn’t be better you know. So, so even Sandler was just like just singing your praises in terms of, you know, how you played that role. It was great. You were awesome. I love it. I love it. I mean, probably like two of the funniest memories that I think I have from filming. The first one was when speaking of us being the first ones on set was we were filming this one scene where JT and I are teeing off and without like giving any of the plot away but like we’re both teeing off and so it’s like in the morning and so they let us hit a few balls just because it’s you know honestly we didn’t really need to hit balls. I mean we’re just hitting a you know one shot but it also we were like ah what the hell like we’re going to be here all day. Might as well hit a few ball hit a few balls. And so we hit a couple balls off of this like one tea box and some lady just drives up to us and goes like, “Guys, I don’t know who gave those balls, but the golf course is closed today.” It was like some like random security person just thinking that we hopped onto the golf course and we were like, “Uh, no, we’re here for the movie. Like it’s it’s all it’s all good.” Which was it was such a bizarre way to like start like your experience. I thought it was like just kind of like a goof. Like I thought it was some like kind of like joke between people where it’s like oh this must be like some executive producer or something like I don’t know and it was just somebody completely out of the blue which was which was hilarious and then well before you get to the next scene just to set the context too to paint the picture for people. So it’s like it’s 8 in the morning 7:30 in the morning sun’s just come up Willisurus and Justin Thomas are in full like what you would wear on the Sunday of a major. You’re like in your full outfit with your brands and your logos. You guys look like a million bucks, brand new clothes, hitting like obviously out of a staff bag. Hitting pro shots cuz that’s what you guys are just getting loose. And it’s like literally this Yeah. This security guard drives up. He’s like, “Hey guys, golf course is closed. I don’t know if you’re making a movie.” You know, they’re doing a movie over here. And it’s just like, what are you doing? You know, people would pay to see you guys hit ball. They do pay to see you guys hit balls. It just was it was just extra funny in the context of it all. Did anyone hit him with do you know who I am? Because that would have been really Hollywood of you. Yeah, that Yeah, JT could maybe pull that one off. He definitely could. But yeah, that was that was definitely a funny one. And then I mean I think I probably two others honestly. The other one is actually when Adam was like asking JT and I on the side. We were standing on like another tea box and it was like there was like a sign that said uh please stay off or something like they were just like putting some new sod on it or whatever. And so Adam is like hey boys like hey you know give me a little tip here. And so we go over to the corner and we go to this tea box and Adam doesn’t put a ball down but he just takes like this massive practice swing and just takes the biggest crater. I mean, this thing is just like a foot and a half long. And he looks back at JT and I. JT and I are dying laughing because of this crater. And he’s like, he’s like, “What? What?” Like, “Why are you laughing at me? Why are you laughing at my swing?” Like, he got so like he was like so embarrassed because two tour pros were laughing at him. And so he goes back down and takes another one and just takes another massive critter like right next to it. And so I’m like, “What? Don’t do that.” Like there’s just so like what is like so it was just so funny how like he was just so it was so good. But the other one that was good was like at the very end of my filming and I was just dog tired because I think like I had a couple days off in between and I like knocked out some corporate days on top of that. Like meanwhile Chad and JT go to Pine Valley. I’m actually like working and so you heard the story. Yeah. And so I’m like going up to uh Connecticut and like have an outing or whatever and like it’s super busy. We finally get to the end and there’s like a scene in the locker room that we have and I’m like tucked in the corner but I’m like not a part of like where one scene is going on. So like eventually the first scene will then lead over to where I am and that kind of like ends this like kind of whole scene going on. And I was like tucked in this corner and Kyle, the director, is like on the other side. And so I just get to hear like, “Okay, action.” And I’m tucked back to like seven or eight people. And I look over and one of the like the assistants or whatever that was on set went from like helping direct like extras to then just like hanging on their phone. And so that was all I could see. So I’m just hanging in this corner. And so we do this like take a couple times and then I’m supposed to like you know come around and and whatever and like I can’t remember if it was like Colin or like somebody was like talking some smack to me and like made like a little joke where it’s like they like were like sticking a little middle finger, you know, on the side of their cheek or something like that just cuz it you’re just goofing around. So I come around the corner and I see this guy messing around and I think this is just like a practice take or whatever. And so I just try to make a joke of Colin and I go double bird middle fingers right at him. The problem was I’m then right down the barrel of a camera line and all I see is Adam Sandler right in front of me and and he just kind of goes oh and he and he like that was like they were actually doing a take but like the guy was just hanging out on his phone so I just thought we were like oh so they’re just going to hang on their thing because they had like reworked the scene a few times and so I’m like oh great here we go eight days in I’m already just double birding Adam Sandler in the middle of sets like how arrogant can you be but it was It was just so funny. I’ve never met Adam Sandler, but both of you have. I’m wondering what character in one of his movies is he most like in real life. Oh, I think that’s a good one. I mean, I I Wow. Okay, I’m gonna tell you what I think it is just from hearing you guys. I think it’s Mr. Deeds. like he seems like the nicest, most lovely guy. Uh, and like just comes across as super genuine. I I don’t know, but I wonder what you guys are thinking. Well, I mean, this shows you how good of a guy is. And I, you know, I read it somewhere, so of course it, you know, must be true. But, um, I believe he gets flowers for Jennifer Andiston on Mother’s Day because she’s not because she’s not able to have children. and he does that every single year. And I’m like, that’s just the type of guy he is. Like, I wish I could lie to you and like say he’s like a complete, you know, whatever. But he’s literally just he’s a he’s just awesome. I mean, you know, he like he just he remembers every little thing about people and like remembers like names of writers that maybe were like honestly just getting their start and it’s like, “Hey, you’re the kid that we got from, you know, blah blah blah.” like you know it’s it’s just he’s so real and it’s like there is the funny side to him like you can see that you know not that like if you could see that if you got him on some fun stuff you maybe having a couple glasses of wine that the Billy Madison like goofball would come out but it’s like at the same time he’s just such a real guy and he loves working he loves being around people um you know I think you know the little thing of like Rob Schneider checking in on Rob Schneider every week or it’ll be like in the middle of the night at like two o’clock in the morning. He’d be like, “Wake up. I need to talk to you.” You know, “We need to talk.” That’s that’s how he like whenever he’s on the phone, he’s like, “Okay, we need to talk.” And I’m like, “We’re talking.” Like like I got it. We’re on the phone. Like, “What do you want?” You know, but he uh it’s just he’s like, “I want to check in on you. I want to see how you’re doing. Like, you know, what’s going on? How’s the back rehab going?” And so he’s just even though he goes a million miles an hour, I just don’t know how he’s able to like have 10,000 balls that are up in the air and just manage everything, you know? It’s like it’s it’s really amazing. I mean, I doing the movie, coming out with a special the same year that the movie was coming out and then doing a tour the next year and probably doing I believe doing another movie on top of that. I know he’s coming up with one soon. Lisa was saying it’s just like there’s no slowing down, but he loves doing it and and he’s with all of his guys and you know his family’s in the movie. You know, this is this is their family business. Like the thing um that’s really great is my caddy is actually Ben Stiller’s son Quinn and he is just the nicest kid on the planet and he’s an awesome dude. And we already saw in the trailer that I’m just shaking the living crap out of him. And he’s just the sweetest. I like I was laughing the other night because there was there was uh it was actually when the Knicks were playing the Pacers and uh Ben went with Quinn and he was sitting next to uh I think like Kendall Jenner and Timothy Shalamé and like a couple other guys or like other like pop culture guys, but they had like names over every single person and they didn’t have one over Quinn. And so I like fixed it and I sent it to them and I’m like this is way better. It’s like Quinn Stiller and then there’s like nobody else on there. Um, but he’s he’s such a good dude and he’s so I mean like I felt so bad just abusing him basically for the entire movie, but he’s he’s amazing. You you got to meet Ben, right? You spend a little time with Ben. Yeah. Which was really cool. And Ben and his wife um which was so awesome. Like they’re just they’re such real people. I mean, it was just kind of funny, too, because it’s like we’re just hanging on the side of a set. And, you know, my wife’s really into photography. She’s got a Leica. It’s just super fancy, you know, German camera. And, uh, she was a studio art miner at Wake. But the thing that was really cool was Adam or sorry, Ben had a Leica that was a manual where like he does the ink and everything himself. But the part that was funny is that everybody would just of course just try to stay behind where the cameras are because that’s just the safest place to be and not be in the middle of a set. Meanwhile, Ben being the brilliant director and actor that he is, is knowing exactly where all the blind spots are. So, he’s like in the perfect middle between like an angle of two cameras and he’s like right here and he’s getting photos of Quinn so he can have those photos, you know, for life. And I’m like, that is so freaking cool to watch, you know, this unbelievably brilliant director, but there he is with his manual camera and just, you know, playing with it, taking photos that are behind the scenes. And I’m like, those photos like I hope I hope I’m able to like get one one day because it was just it was just really cool to see like these guys that have known each other literally for like 35 years. And it’s just like all of a sudden, you know, it’s like here’s Ben. Like I remember Ben was like, like I said, he was kind of right in the middle between two angles of a shot. So he was fine right here. But Adam was over in this corner on this side. And so they just kind of like look at each other and just kind of, you know, give each other like a little nod like, “What’s up? What’s up?” And he’s like, “You good right there?” And he goes, “Yeah, I like I know where I’m going.” And he’s like, “Okay.” And it’s just like funny how it’s just like these little interactions of like, “Yeah, two of the biggest movie stars where they’re just like, “Hey, you in the shot?” And I’m like, they’re like, “I don’t know. I think I’m good.” Like Yeah. Meanwhile, I’m over in the corner and I’m like standing on my mark and they put the tea on the ground and I’m like literally pinning it down with both feet like I’m not moving an inch, you know, but it’s just it was Yeah, it was really cool and you know talking to you know because they were both in dodgeball too and that was like such a formative movie for people my age. Um so it was JT and I were kind of like okay we’re sorry but we have to ask about like dodgeball and all that like how fun it was and and doing it. So that was pretty cool. So, let’s uh let’s change gears a little bit and talk about you kind of sticking in the Hollywood theme and now that we know that you’re a um inside the actor studio fan. I mean, I don’t know many pro golfers that even know what a mark is and you you came already knowing like how to how George Clooney hits his mark. So, you know, are you are you a paying dues member of SAG After? Apparently. I mean, I got the I don’t know. I I mean I I I got something in the mail from them the other day. I don’t know if they wanted my insurance money or what, but they’re sending me mail. Oh, yeah. And you are. You are. You definitely are. Um, so, but I want to ask you about um other celebrities because, you know, this show is all it’s called the Vanity Index podcast for a reason. And it’s like, you know, anytime we have pro golfers on this show, you know, I ask them kind of like who’s the most famous person that you’ve ever played with like actually played golf. Cuz one of the one of the fun parts about having you on the movie is I feel like doing full swing, I’m always kind of in in everybody in your office basically bothering you. I’ve got my our crews are just kind of like stepping into your place of business. But it was just really fun to have you guys now in sort of my world. Um, but you know, you play a ton of proams. Like who’s who’s probably the most famous person you’ve ever played golf with? Uh, man. Uh, I’d probably say I’ve played with Bush uh 43. I’ve played, you know, I would probably either say Bush 43 or uh play with Charles Barkley. Um, which was pretty hilarious cuz we were hitting balls on the range. It was after he and Tony Romo had a a Subway commercial and so it’s like I know the feeling of when you do these like eight hour shoots and it’s for like 12 seconds of content and it just drives you insane, but it’s like, you know, at the end of the day it’s just it’s going to turn out good. They just have to get what they want to get. And so they were like just screaming to get out of this set and immediately beline to go hit falls at Merido. And so we like connected through that actually. And um and so the part that I think is so cool about Chuck is like he’ll just check in on me randomly. Like it’ll be 10:30 on like a Thursday in the middle of you know like you know probably he’s checking in on me because he wants to figure out his bets for the week. But um but he uh he just like checks in on me every every now and again. Like I gave him a ride back to his hotel and he was ever since then he’s been like, “Oh man, you’re the best.” You know, it’s like appreciate you. You so nice. You’re so nice. And I’m like I’m going five minutes down the road, man. Like it’s all good. But every time I check in on him, he’s I’ll never forget that you gave me a ride. And I’m like, but yeah. I mean, I think it’s fun. Like the part that I think is really cool about with golf right now, especially with YouTube, you know, golf blowing up is you’re getting so much access to other people that are that’s just going to blow up our game. And I think that’s like we now are, you know, I have to laugh now because there’s so many people that I’ve played golf with that are like country singers like playing golf with Luke Bryan where it’s like I play with him one time just because we were at the same charity deal or whatever or met through this other guy and then next thing you know we’re in Colorado last year and he’s performing at BMW and he goes, “Man, I can’t believe it. I mean, you’re the little [ __ ] that we played at in Vegas. You didn’t have a tour cart or anything.” Like it’s crazy. Like it’s like that little guy almost won the Masters, you know, like so like, you know, getting to meet guys that are that are just so real that they love golf. They’re obsessed with it. They want to learn as much as they can. Like they just they just suck it up as you know, and especially like former athletes, that’s like their outlet. I mean, a lot of, you know, especially when you go to like these discovery places where they’re able to like kind of chill out and, you know, wear a t-shirt and shorts and go play golf and and relax and and, you know, basically be themselves. Like, there’s so many guys that are into golf and it’s amazing, especially like I said with YouTube golf. Like, you’re just now getting more and more people that are, you know, Travis Kelsey’s in a is in a golf movie. Like, that’s the reality of where we’re at in 2025. Like so it’s kind of fun because we’re in a really really good spot. I think you know with the game coming out of co like a bunch of people were get really getting into it and so um yeah I think it’s the more the marrier with this. It’s something that I’m going to be a little bit more active about. Like I’m going to start doing a lot you know playing with you know some of these guys um you know starting this fall once I heal up from surgery just because it’s it really is like it’s part of growing the game. like it really is. We’re we’re really going to have to like go into this. And so I think it’s uh it’s fun, man, because I mean I’m I’m obviously somebody who loves like I’m like the guy who dives in on the Wikipedia pages and like if I’m watching a baseball game I’m like diving in on baseball reference about like this guy like you know he’s one you know one of 10 like come on like get get him out of here like send him back to farm. like I love like doing that stuff and so that’s why like probably my analytical side comes from uh you know that’s kind of helped me with golf. You you mentioned uh playing with President Bush. Um we on a previous show we had talked about sort of the presidents of the United States like the golf ones and what their handicaps were and I think I think he’s like a 13 or a 15 or something like that. Yeah. Um how do you how’s his game? He plays so fast. It’s it’s I mean I’m literally talking 27 holes in probably 245 3 hours at at Preston Trail. Like it is if the ball is is in the air and it’s now falling because of gravity, he’s walking towards his cart. Like it’s balls are still moving and he’s already in his cart going like it is just lightning. And so that’s just how he is. Like that’s why he loved you know he loves biking. like he now he’s 78 so he’s getting a little bit older but you know he’s got a bad back and bad hips and he’s just he’s been biking forever and you know as he says you know playing terrible golf but he like I think probably at his best he was definitely a single digit but there’s nobody on the planet who plays faster than him like he is a dream to go play golf with because like that’s how I grew up with my dad was we would like we’d go on vacation and we’d tee off at 6:45 for 7:15 and we’d fly around in two and a half hours and like you know Bush I think because he’s like he just has to be doing something and he’s on I think is is really fascinating but he uh he was a part of a Walker Cup stuff in 2017 just through his family and so um you know doing some charitable stuff in town too. Um I’ve gotten to know him but yeah he like dude it’s it’s absurd. There’s nobody on the planet who plays faster. Like I I firmly believe that. Like Mark Wahlberg is going to go against this one. But I honestly if you put the two of them together, you could fit in a 36hole charity fundraiser like that. Like yeah, they like like literally knock out 90 minutes and they’re just going to absolutely play as many holes as they can. Like they can’t stop. Like there’s no there’s almost no point of gambling. It’s just kind of like you get done with the round and you almost look at them, look at the guys you’re playing with and go, “How’d you play today?” like, you know, even though we just spent the last two and a half hours together, I have no idea how you play just because we’re just, you know, basically just balls flying all over the place. Well, you know, when Dallas obviously I always I think when we talked about their handicaps, I said that like the Bush is definitely those are not vanity indexes because those are Dallas guys and they play for big money down in Dallas. And you mentioned gambling. So like tell me a little bit about like your ga gambling in terms of golf and you know I know I know a lot of the guys play in practice rounds you you know wager and things like that. So, what’s your what’s your favorite like betting game on the course? What’s your go-to? Like, put aside like it’s a practice round, but if you’re just going to go play and you want some action, like what’s your go-to game? Yeah. So, I think like I think Tuesdays a lot of guys will do like birdie, you know, like a birdie game where basically every hole if you try to make if you end up making a birdie, let’s just say it’s like a hundred bucks, let’s say. I think during practice rounds that’s always good especially for just like going out and like just playing because like we’re obviously trying to get our work in but we also want to have some shots that are competitive. So, you know, like I’ve I’ve had a couple buddies roll do that on Tuesdays, but Dallas, it’s been really since co like I would say, you know, the Dallas, Jupiter, Scottdale, Vegas like hubs have really like almost the golf because of co everybody started playing like really good players started playing with each other and so you know there’d be this like through co I want to say it was like Tony Romo, Scotty Sheffler, Jordan Spe Martin Flores, Kelly Craft, Kramer Hickok, Carlos Ortiz and Sebastian Munoz. Like all guys that have either won on live or won on the PJ tour and like all of we play together all the time and it was just like that stuff is just so fun. Like that’s that’s where you get better. That’s where like everybody wants to watch this and like I know that he’s beaming over here because I’m going to tell him that like the Wolf games are so fun to play. Um, and so I think like when you get to see like that’s the aspect that I think will be interesting to kind of see how like the TG or uh the tomorrow golf and see where that goes because I honestly think like there is something to a Wolf game where you get the players where there’s a little bit of the like like Scotty and Jordan. I grew up with them since I was nine years old. Like I I have always joked that I have to blame them for my success because they are so good that they just made me better because it was like I’m getting my ass handed to me consistently since I was 10 years old by both of them. And so it’s like it’s really fun to be, you know, around them for that long. Um and to see them, you know, grow and but it’s uh it’s like it’s just it’s I don’t know. It’s just special. Um, well that that Walker Cup team you mentioned, I mean that that was a legendary team. It was crazy. So, who all was on that team with you? Uh, Colin Morawa, Scotty Sheffler, Doc Redmond, uh, Cameron Champ, Norman Jong, Steuart Hagestad, Doug Gim, I don’t know. I’m probably I feel bad. I’m probably going to miss somebody, but at one point or Braden Thornberry at one point we had all nine guys that had turned pro because Steuart Hag stayed amateur. We were on tour or had won on tour within the first three years. So by 2020, every single player 2021 I guess every single player had gotten their tour card and we won 19 to7 um which is the biggest margin of victory ever. And so it’s like the ’05 team or whatever where it was like DJ and Billy Horchel and like all those guys like Val was always known as being like one of the best like ours will go down as being you know one of the best ever just because of how dominant we were. But um yeah I mean I think when you get to be around like that level of success like you just you get to learn so much from him too. And and back then I mean Scotty was he was obviously a good good player but he wasn’t the number one amateur. wasn’t the, you know, probably the best player on that team. And you know what? What is like And I mean, you played a ton of golf with him, so like what what what’s changed for him? Nothing. And that’s honestly why he’s playing so good. That’s like that is the reason why. I mean, nothing has changed for him. He’s the same dude. Like, you know, Finn Yuing was talking on a podcast the other day. He’s a um unbelievably benevolent guy. He’s basically fundraises our junior tour. um he’s owns a bunch of car dealerships in town, but Finn, you know, the the junior tour for NTPGA is the Euing Junior Golf Tour. And so that’s literally been the EU Junior Golf Tour since Scotty Jordan and I have grown up. So we’ve been around him forever. But we always play in this uh Project Shelter Tournament, which is up Preston Trail. And uh Finn always donates. It’s fun because like the pros have like a little side game where we’re able to like we play for basically some like a credit for a car and um at Finn’s uh one of Finn’s dealerships and Scotty had won it backtoback years and you know he doesn’t care. It’s he you know gives the money back and you know he’s that’s just the type of guy he is. But when he came in to go pick out a car, he was looking at used cars for his like for himself and a new car for his wife or sister or whatever. And Finn found out about it and he was like, he’s got $80,000 worth of credit or whatever and he’s made how much money? He’s looking at a used car. But I’m like, that’s just who he is. He’s he literally has grown up with the same girlfriend from the same country club with the same coach, you know, literally since he was 9 years old. And he’s so grounded and he he knows what what his comfort zones are and where he should and shouldn’t be in managing his time. And so I think, you know, growing up, Jordan was like the golden child. I mean, I know that that’s kind of like his nickname that he absolutely can’t stand, but it’s like, you know, the guy who would, you know, bang a ball off the roof of a house and then, you know, punch it underneath a few trees and then chip in for birdie. Like, he’s been doing that literally since I was like 12 years old. Like, he’s just he’s always had that that level. But Scotty always had the gaming ability to just want to beat you. Like there was a I believe there was a time growing up where we were playing like a little like$1 or$2 dollar hammer game and we were at Royal Oaks and I think Scotty like maybe bogeied like four out of the first five and then just like 30footer 30footer 30footer just birdied like the last four coming in and like walked them in. And that’s just kind of the gamer that he is. It’s just like he can’t do anything wrong. And when he does something wrong, you know, it’s like when he won the PGA, he just like, you know, I can’t remember what it was, the one, two, three, fourth hole in the final round, I believe, or fifth hole in the final round at Charlotte and he hits it in the bucker off the TE, fats it out left, hits kind of a mediocre pitch to like 20 feet, but then he makes the 20footer for par. like it never looked like a par until he just buried a 20-footer. And so I think when you watch that level of success, it’s amazing how he just stays so grounded and it like just doesn’t change. Well, Will, we want to be respectful of your time, but before we let you go, can we do um some rapid fire questions with you? Let’s do it. All right. Um we, you know, we didn’t start the show like this, but we normally do. What’s your handicap? uh plus 6.8 and it is legit because I turn in every tournament round and every like nine hole screw around like round that I play. So if I go out and I go play with somebody and they’re like oh you you know like come on you’re like a plus eight I’m like this is my handicap. So is legit and yours is not if we go out there and you beat me 10 times in a row. So I always I always love doing that with like my old guys at Brook Hall. It’s like somehow keep beating me every time. Does the USGA post your scores? Uh, you know, they used to in the US Open and they stopped doing it, so I put them in. Interesting. Yeah. All right. Um, walk or ride? Depends. Uh, if I’m out with my boys at the end of the day and we’re chasing daylight, we’re in a cart. But if it’s like, you know, deuce sweep, then I’ll probably walk. Biggest golf pet peeve? Slow play. Favorite course you’ve ever played? California Golf Club. One course you want to play but you haven’t yet. Fisher Island. What’s your dream forsome? Dead or alive? Probably do I’ve always wanted to see this happen just because I’ve gotten to know them well enough. But I think if it was like Romo, I’ve always wanted to do this, but like Romo and me against like anybody else, another Tusome was so fun during co because it was just like like he gets so invested into beating people. Like he doesn’t care what like it’s win at all costs. Like I don’t want to beat you. I want to cut your throat. And so it is like it it was always so fun doing that. So honestly when the two of us took on anybody like that was honestly so fun. He’s been a huge mentor of mine. Like he had all of his back stuff. I’ve had my back stuff. And so being able to learn from him and um he’s got a pretty good perspective on things too because obviously his career was kind of like taken away if you will from you know Dak coming up and then his back injury and all that. But um I’ve learned so much from that guy. So, honestly, him versus like any any other duo, it was always so fun. What’s your favorite golf swing thought? Uh, my coach in college, Jerry Hos, he’s like one of the most high energy guys that I’ve ever met in my life. Like, he’s up there with Adam. Like, honestly, like, and honestly, when it comes to movie quotes, he could probably name a lot of like 98% of the Adam movies. And so we’d be in the van and coach Hos would be driving in the front and we’d have the, you know, like in our sprinter van, the Mercedes big sprinter vans where it seats like 12 people in the back and we’d have um, you know, the TV going and it would always have like Jackass or like Billy Madison or, you know, Water Boy or whatever and Coach would just be like rattling off like scenes from the front. He can’t even see it, but you can see his head just laughing and you look back and start laughing at you. But Jerry would always scream from like 85 yards away. Stay tall. Stay tall. And I’m like, you are literally you can’t even see my like what I’m wearing from here and you’re screaming at me like stay tall. Stay tall. And I just will always remember that in college cuz he is right. I do need to stay tall. He’s just he’s like one of the mo one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met in my life. So like I just having some humor out there is always just kind of fun to go out there and hit a shot. I’m just thinking of Jerry House yelling at me from like 85 yards away. I feel like I know the answer to this one, but favorite golf movie. Yeah. I mean, come on. 10 cup. Change one rule in golf. What would it be? Uh, if your ball goes in a divot in or a pitch mark like a where a ball lands, guys, like that you just should like if it’s not yours, you’re not allowed to move it. Yeah. So, that’s where I’m like, but how do you know? How would you know if it’s not yours? We’re like, see the thing is like we just have so many cameras now on tour where like you know because there’s honestly because of betting. So it’s like if I’m in 48th place and I’m on Sunday in a tusome well some you know goofball has got 500 bucks riding on me playing against Chad and beating Chad. But so they’ve got to show the third hole that really doesn’t matter at like 9:30 on a Sunday. So, I mean, they’ll be able to see like where that ball lands, but I’ve had it happen like a couple times when we’ve been playing on wet like wet conditions and it’s just like I hate it. Um, best golf tip you’ve ever received. Uh, Ken Venturi when I was three years old taught me how to use overlap grip and I’ve used it ever since. So, he used to use cow club back in the day and that was where I grew up playing. Um, what’s your favorite club in the bag? Probably 60 Degree. What’s your least favorite club in the bag? Uh, right now anything that’s a long iron because I’m I’m in the middle of rehabbing and they’re not going very well right now. Uh, how do you stay focused? I mean, I think when you I’ve invested so much of this into my, you know, invested so much in myself, into my career that it’s hard not to stay focused with what we’re doing. I mean, you know, having three back surgeries at 428 was not, you know, on my deck of cards that I thought I was going to have, but it’s just my goal at the end of the day is, you know, to win a major. And so, when you see guys that are, you know, going on runs and having success like JJ, it it’s like, and I’m sitting in this position, it’s like it’s super motivating. Favorite adult beverage on the course? Uh, probably a Southside. What is that? The drink up in the Hamptons. So, I mean it depends on I mean there’s different versions of it because there’s like some guys like gin, some guys like vodka, but it’s like I mean Chaz had it. What’s What’s the I don’t want to get it wrong. So, it’s it’s Yeah, it’s gin or vodka and it’s got mint in it and it’s got some secret ingredient. So, the ones they do at National Golf Links like they I asked what’s in it and they’re like not telling you. So, it’s a secret ingredient. It’s very um it’s kind of like a um it’s gin, lime juice, simple syrup, and mint. Yeah. And but the ones at National are like kind of cloudy, so there’s some other stuff that they put in there, but yeah, it’s there’s some there’s something going on there and I and I’ve like that’s like my favorite drink that I’ve ever had. Now, the one that cracked me up was I had uh lunch at Beurefield in uh over in the UK in or I guess in Scotland and they like their lunch they’re famous for having like the greatest lunch in the history of like like they drink like crazy at this lunch but they have this thing called Kimmel and apparently like if you had like some like heebie-jebies with some with the putter or the chipping like they would give you a Kimmel and it was like like 50 proof clear like this just like or 100 proof like just like I mean awful motor oil and so I had that and I was like oh my god that’s not that stuff is horrible but the first time I had a southside up in the Hamptons I was like I don’t know what this is but this is amazing I’m gonna try that. Um I assume you’ve had a hole in one so I guess maybe the question is how many hole ones have you had? I’ve had 10. Jesus Christ. Uh best score you’ve ever shot? 59 and give us one word to describe your game precision. Will Zorus, golfer, actor, awesome, dude. Thank you so much for coming on the Vanity Edex podcast. Thank you, boys. Really appreciate you. I was trying to do my my best uh James lift in there. That was pretty good. He’s a triple threat student of uh cinema, I would call him. Yeah, that’s um Yeah. Well, we’ll uh we’re we’re rooting for you, man. We’re excited to see you back out there. Um hope everything’s going well with your rehab. Obviously, hopefully we’ll get a chance to hang in a couple weeks at the uh premiere. I’m looking forward to that. Thank you for Yeah. Thank you for do the Hollywood thing real quick, Will. Uh what are you trying to promote right now? When is this film coming out? No, it’s July 25th on Netflix. You know, uh we got Happy Gilmore 2, Adam Sandler coming back into a massive role. Uh, so you know, looking forward to, you know, this premiere coming up. He’s media trained, man. He’s very good. He’s so good. God, he’s good. He’s so full of [ __ ] Oh, Will, you’re the man. Thank you for joining us today. And uh we’ll have to do this again, buddy. And we’ll we’ll be seeing you soon. Thanks again for all the time. Always. All right. See you, bud. Well, I would like to be part of the foresome that goes up against him and Tony Romo. Can we I think that it’s possible that we could set that up. I think I think so. Yeah, for sure. Especially when he’s when he’s rehabbing. You know, he’s getting back out there before he’s back on tour. He’s going to be playing a lot of golf. He’s going to need some competition. Mhm. Maybe you and I do a little trip out to Dallas and challenge Romo and uh and uh Will, he said that he wants to get into YouTube, so maybe we film the thing. I You know what? I This is a plan that’s coming together. It’s beautiful. I like this. I like this a lot. Uh we covered a lot of ground today. We did. Uh, this was a lot of fun. Um, you know, it’s funny because this is the this show is the intersection of Hollywood and and golf and well, if he isn’t the epitome of the intersection of Hollywood and golf, I don’t know what is, you know. I mean, he’s a movie star and he’s a professional golfer and he loves movies. Yeah, it’s great. Oh, that’s awesome, buddy. Well, uh, great hanging as always. Y and um yeah, thanks for all the listeners out there. Um you can follow us uh find us everywhere, Vanityindexodcast. Remember, send us your gambling games. We want to hear all about them.
