Donald Trump expected to visit UK in coming weeks

Breaking news now and Sky News understands that Donald Trump is due to visit the UK in the coming weeks. Let’s bring in our Scotland correspondent Connor Gillis who has broken this story for us and joins us now live. Connor, afternoon to you. Just tell us about this reporting and this suggestion that Donald Trump could well be coming to the UK in the coming weeks. Well, Kamali, it is no secret that Donald Trump has been invited by the king for a state visit. Potentially the date the talk is in September of this year. Uh but as a sideeshow to that, clearly Donald Trump has a love for Scotland. His mother was born here. He has uh financial rooings here as well in the form of two golf courses, a passion, a hobby that he clearly enjoys and he has done for many decades. at two courses here in Scotland, one on the air coast at Turbury, the other at Balmedi up in Aberdine on the northeast coast of Scotland. And there had been some suggestion that the US president would make a trip here to Scotland uh for the first time since becoming the US president this time around. Uh and he was likely to do that this summer. his son Eric Trump last year, suggesting that could coincide with the opening of a new course that was due to be in the name of his mother in Aberdine at some point this summer. Well, multiple sources have told us here at at Sky News uh that those plans are being drawn up as we speak. senior government officials, policing uh figures are discussing those plans that could happen uh within the coming weeks. The suggestion from those multiple sources is that Donald Trump himself could be here in Scotland in the UK towards the end of July or the start of August. And the other suggestion here being talked about is that this is a visit that could last multiple days. Now, clearly that could put a strain on policing resources in this country. Uh, one policing source has told me there could be up to 5,000 officers deployed specifically for the this visit, working 12hour shifts there as well. Uh, Trump officials in Scotland are not confirming anything. They are saying there is no comment on this matter. And clearly the usual caveat with anything Donald Trump related with anything related to the US president plans could change at the last minute. But certainly multiple sources here in Scotland are saying we could be expecting Donald Trump to visit uh multiple locations north of the border within the coming weeks.

US President Donald Trump is expected to begin a visit to the UK in Scotland in the next few weeks.

Multiple sources told Sky News, Trump would begin by calling in on his golf courses later this month or at the beginning of August.

Police Scotland’s assistant chief constable Emma Bond told Sky News: “Planning is under way for a potential visit to Scotland later this month by the president of the United States.

“While official confirmation has not yet been made, it is important that we prepare in advance for what would be a significant policing operation.”

  1. The best thing the public could do is not make a fuss and just temporarily render him insignificant whilst He's here. Let him bring his own security though.

  2. Security is going to be mental
If the British public get any we’re near him he is not going to get a very good reception
    Booooooooooooooooo

  3. Only one real reason…GOLF. at massive expense to US and UK taxpayers and working poor Trump will go watch the British Open and play golf at the courses he owns. He wouldn't give a flying F about Starmer or Chucky

  4. AMERICA PRESIDENTS , THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD . TRUMP WANTS HIS MONEY BACK THAT AMERICAN PRESIDENTS PREVIOUSLY LENT TO BRITAIN,SCOTLAND . TRUMP WANTS AMERICANS MONEY BACK

  5. President Trump says the US will levy 50% on Copper and up to 200 % within year on pharma products and the US will never concede 10% to the EU in wildest dreams and EU farm imports from US is another big problem and EU fines on American companies .

President Trump knows they have a 10% agreement on 200 Billion American exports a year from GB Ireland via the North to the USA with few exemptions and no UK checks or tariffs to GB via NI

  6. So people with a criminal record can travel to GB?? That's good to know. I'm gonna tell the good news to my inmates😅😅
