Lucas Glover is still chasing big goals heading into the Open Championship at Royal Portrush. After a solid final round at the John Deere Classic, the veteran American revealed he’s eyeing a Ryder Cup spot and is hungry for another PGA Tour win this season. Glover, who’s been one of the Tour’s most consistent ball-strikers, says he’s feeling confident and motivated with major opportunities still ahead.

Talk about your round today. Yeah, played nice. Jacob and I kind of fed off each other and uh yeah, you know, no bogeies on a Sunday, seven birdies. Thought I had the one on 18 and uh yeah, played nice. No complaints. Was there anything working specifically? Yeah, putted nice for a change. Um yeah, got off to a good start and yeah, made some putts. Same thing as Friday. It’s no secret with me. If I make putts, I’m going to play good. If I don’t, I won’t. So, um, especially here, you know, where you got to got to make a bunch of birdies. So, 72 on, uh, Thursday, three straight really solid rounds to follow it. What was there a switch that flipped or what was different? Um, yeah, Thursday I played horrible. I mean, just played bad. Drove it bad, ironed it bad, putted bad. Um, and then, uh, yeah, just did everything better Friday. had a little momentum and putt started going in and hit the ball closer and yeah, yesterday uh you know breezy happy with what I shot yesterday in those conditions. So yeah, very pleased you got yourself back into the thick of it as someone predicted the other day. You just ran out of holes. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Um yeah, it’s probably a little too little too late, but uh um yeah, I mean 64 on a Sunday, I don’t care where you are, it’s pretty good. Happy with it. So you pay any attention to leaderboards today? I mean, everybody it just seems like it was just going like Yeah. I mean, I saw it when I got to the I don’t know. The first scoreboard I saw, everybody was going bananas and uh you kind of knew that would happen. No wind, soft conditions, the rain yesterday softened everything up. The greens are still perfect. So, I mean, that that lends itself to pretty low scores out here. Do you think at all about what a top 10 set you up for now? Not really. I was I was trying to get to 20 under to be honest with you, just to see if that would win. Um I know that sounds greedy, but uh that’s the number I had in my head to start the day. And you know, I know it’s uh pretty lofty goal, but that I was trying my best to get there. When it started raining, did you have any flashbacks to 21? Yeah. Uh yeah, a little bit. I was a little too far back by then, though. But uh but yeah, you know, uh seem to do my best work when it gets crappy. I wonder why. I don’t know. To figure that out. Spent a lot of time early in the week working on the putting, trying to get the speed back. Yeah. Yeah. Mission accomplished. Do you walk out of here with some confidence? Yeah, I put I puted beautifully uh today and uh Friday. I mean, even even yesterday in that wind, I puted pretty nice. You know, I’m a golfer. We’re always going to say we could have done this better or that better. 60 should have been 59 or 70 should have been 69. It’s just the way we are. But um but yeah, I mean I’ll take I’ll take uh I’ll take some confidence into the off week and and get across the pond and um yeah, very very pleased with the way I played. Ambitions for the rest of the year. Are you thinking Ryder Cup playoff? Yeah, of course. Always. I mean, I I I showed it in 23. All it takes is a good stretch and get some confidence and pop off a win or two, you know. And I got I love the course at the for the Open Championship, Port Rush. I was there last time. Obviously got success at Windom. Obviously success at Memphis. So yeah, I’m I’m excited for what the years got got left. Did yesterday’s rain change how the course played today significantly? Yeah, a little. Not a not significantly. A little. Um balls weren’t bouncing as much in the fairways, so that does two things. plays a little longer but also keeps balls in the fairway. So give and take there. So net net. Uh the greens were definitely softer but still to pace and still perfect. So that’s why our scores are so low and lack of wind. Great. Thank y’all. All right.
