2nd Swing Master Fitter Kevin Kraft shares his insights into why a player might not need to use a 3-wood in their bag.

wood so why would a golfer really not need a three-wood in the bag um and instead be saying maybe fivewood is the next Club from driver well it’s if we’re hitting a club that’s going to be coming into the greens we need to create a certain set of parameters so if we’re playing a three-wood and this is a club that’s not being struck just off the te but it is something that we’re going to be hitting into the greens if it’s coming in you know too shallow with too little spin you don’t have any chance to make that ball stop so we want the clubs to all have a good solid purpose that purpose is to cover a particular number so everything other than the driver we should be looking at a number for how far that ball is going to fly and then we’re going to try and make it stop so if we’re not creating the trajectory three-wood can be out try the Forwood if Forwood is not creating trajectory enough fourwood can be out and we can go to fivewood we still have gaps to cover but overall you know we want to make sure that each Club is going to be coming into the green with the a decent chance of making it stop

  1. Thats why I went with the new qi35 max 3 wood. 15.5° and the shallow face helps it get up quick. Still goes about as far as my 15° standard 3 wood did but much more spin and way less dispersion
