[Music] yeah uh probably that I drove my son to four hockey practices and I coached four ball practices in between I mean that’s not totally standard for getting ready for worlds but practice during the day Dad at night yeah well I played a full mix doubles event um so I was pretty busy uh took a little downtime at home but then still got on the ice for quite a few practices uh leading up to this so it was busy um but it was kind of uh great to have something to do to kind of pass the time between events uh I got to be on the ice with my wife josn so that was that was great and now feel rested ready to go for this one I uh had the u15 provincials curling that I coached my daughter in Grand Prairie and then we held the largest Junior curling Bond Spiel in the world in St Albert and surrounding area with uh 75 teams 305 athletes over 4 days and tried to fit in some practice and sleep in between so awesome got to bring the tankered for all the kids to take pictures and see it and get close to it and uh even took it on the ice and was surprised at how easy it slid down the ice so we I tried throwing it and had a couple of the kids sweeping it um just cool for them to be around that and touch it and feel it and be inspired by it and you know that’s the future of our sport so it was a really cool opportunity to do that very exhausted by the time we got home I took like 4 days off pretty much didn’t do anything between rer Sunday when we won and the following Friday needed to uh rest and recover and start feeling feeling good so that’s one thing you know the the weekend before we came here I took Saturday and Sunday off stayed in in I live in gly Bay uh gly Bay Ontario we live in the bush in Northern Ontario it’s great we got a great community and hung out at some friends hes and uh stayed with the family um one last sort of little family friend party before we uh came to the world but we did a lot of preparation I did a lot of preparation in in about a 10day period between getting [Music] ready yeah I I guess that I I don’t know yeah I guess in my spare time I coach my daughter and my son and his many sports as I can try to pass on the wisdom that got me here I don’t know I would say I’m fairly intense on the ice but maybe less so off the ice um I try to relax on the ice cuz I know it you know brings it probably the best of my play but I tend to get a little too intense sometimes but uh finding that balance is uh what I strive for well I don’t know we’re pretty open books these days uh my daughters are competitive triathletes so my summer consists of a lot of running and biking and swimming and traveling around the province following them with their sports that I live in the bush in Northern Ontario and um like to be outdoors like to be on the side by side and on the boat and down at the beach in the Summer with the family um and uh yeah we we love our community and and living in rural Northern Ontario uh massive nerd I own about 130 board games love them all yeah uh we get along really well off the ice we’re uh kind of like a bunch of brothers or we have a lot of fun uh coach Paul’s a big part of our team he’s comes to a lot of our events and like to throw some cards like to have some fun we’re pretty normal funny guys that um you know we love the sport of curling but it’s not our entire life you know we’re all family guys we’re all just normal dudes that grew up in Canada loving all types of sports and we just happen to be really good at this one but uh yeah behind the scenes we’re we’re good friends and you know like we said before we love to just crush bubblies and play cards and have a few laughs it’d be nice if some people would that are opinionated that uh you know have their preconceived notions of who they think we actually are actually got to know us they probably see that we’re a lot like regular everyday guys we have families we have wives uh we um are genuine easygo like to have fun they’re they’re a really fun group um and they’re extremely welcoming for me to join this team in such a short period I I feel very much at home with them and um yeah I don’t think people always see that I think they’re a high energy team and a lot of people maybe just think that uh yeah that’s that’s their kind of uh Style but um no they’re extremely welcoming and super fun to be around [Music]
