Can We Break 30 at Riversadle Beach Golf Club in the wind and cold?
welcome back to another yes life it’s another nine holes nine questions today we’re at Riverdale Beach Golf Club it’s a bit blustery it’s very cold let’s see how we get on par here is 29 so there’s two par fours and the rest of par 3 threes it’s a nine-hole golf course you can play it twice there’s two different uh flag positions so you can play 18 let’s see if we can break 30 yeah I know how mad that sounds it is absolutely freezing here i think it’s safe to say I didn’t pack wisely for this trip i apologize to all the viewers for this attire right now but I’m cold so par here is 29 we’re trying to break 30 which sounds odd but the wind is unbelievable you’ll see from the drone footage there were points where the drone was not going forward hole one 207 m straight into the teeth oh wow oh it’s short the wind just takes everything off it maybe you needed a full driver maybe I should have gone full driver go in the hole oh that was so close so close that was an early call for hole in one but I honestly thought that had a chance it’s probably one of the best punchy drivers I’ ever written my life that warmed me up a little bit that did did stephen who are you and where you from this sounds like Sila Black line uh my name is Steven i’m originally from Birmingham in the UK if you’ve seen anything in the news about Birmingham recently with like the garbage piling up uh yeah I’ve got a house in Birmingham but I live here in New Zealand moved over two years ago just trying to get a bit of a better work life balance I guess so you took on a YouTube channel well that came after six pints of Guinness and chatting to you and uh we just decided it’d be a really cool idea to play every single golf course in New Zealand and here we are course 30 something nice yeah nearly 10% of the way through okay so there’s obviously just called the greens oh go on that was nearly a two what a putt okay so we’ll tap this one in we’ll make sure we get our three good okay we’re one under break 30 is definitely on right now which is good news okay hold two par four 270 m it’s high very high straight down that has gone nowhere hold hold i didn’t see it down but I think it’s okay it’s on the left side okay hold two questions stephen comment what do you do for work i am a doctor in child and adolescent mental health and what is the best part about your job the best part about my job uh there’s can I go for two yes one is definitely seeing young people go from like their moment of greatest need to flourishing and doing all the things they wanted to do in their lives and doing really well that’s amazing but the people the people that I work with I work with some incredible people nurses social workers psychologists occupational therapists family therapists and doctors as well uh and I love the range of people and the fact that everybody pulls together and they’re always trying to do their best nice 60 yards 60 yards what are you going with i’m going with a pitch cool keep it under that tree okay okay so I’m going to go with pitching wedge just try and flight it in the a little bit lower okay we’ve got a good look for birdie beautiful hole it’s not been caught as well nice surroundings isn’t it gorgeous yeah it is a really nice place yes boy birdie we’re off two under through two okay so we walk up to the next tea stephen your third question on your third hole what three people are you inviting for a dinner party okay i asked you this you did uh we have one same answer okay which one do you think it is uh Winston Churchill yeah i would absolutely love to hear all the stuff that you just don’t get told number two would be my grandma my mom’s mom cuz she died when I was very young oh wow and I’d love to get to know her yeah and I’d like her to know me and third one would probably be John Williams the composer because I think his music’s fantastic and he’s inspirational i’d love to know where his ideas come from for the music and the melodies and the themes so yeah they’re my three that’s an eclectic group it’d be a good night a good evening yeah I’m sure Winston Church would down all the champagne ah it’s going to lie it’s a bit right this is so hard to get right this is why the Open’s so good to watch in the UK or the British Open when you get really windy conditions it’s good to watch the players they can hit a great shot and a wind gust comes up and it’s like go i’m so happy with that go it’s got to move from right to left as we just saw oh oh that’s really slow i thought that was going to be a lot quicker down the hill but it wasn’t okay we’re two under through two through three how mess we played uh on to the fourth and another question for Steven i’m surprised you haven’t mentioned the McKenzie green here Sean oh I love a Mackenzie green i do love a McKenzie green i just love how green this golf course is huffle 135 yards nice par three of the bunker short i’m going to hit a full 52 and just hope that it doesn’t get knocked down by the wind and it just carries it a little bit go go go yeah it’s the problem with hitting full shots and you’re downwind it just gets thrown down sometimes but that wasn’t a great strike that looks nice Stephen beautiful on the dance floor great shot holl four question four okay if you could do any other job in the world what would it be and why i’d be diving instructor would you why i love diving do my diving instructor qualifications and just spend the days by the sea in the sea bobbing around underwater having a great time that would be the ideal life yes life where would you like to live uh there’s a dive in Iceland where you can dive between two plates i think it’s between the Eurasian and the North American plane so I’d love to dive that yes two that makes us three under through four so easy breaking 30 in i don’t know what the problem is with everyone hole number five what a great little hole 93 m to the middle it looks like it’s going to bounce in from the left and the back we’re on the dance floor great shot beauty that sit sit spin oh not bad not bad i tried even whole five question five where is the best place you visited in the world oh good question thank you i really love Bolivia and I love Perua wow um why just the people beautiful lovely really kind uh incredible scenery just a really nice culture to sort of understand and know about and obviously I love the Fall of Civilizations podcast uh and learning about history and culture and things and yeah just incredible places to be i’ve really really loved south America is one of the best places I’ve ever been yes wow two is that four under 35 yes sir how good how good well done thanks catch thank you okay hole six so 167 m par three looks like a little dog leg par three so we got to be careful of that tree on the right ah cut the ground go go sit sit yay we’re on the green we’re on the green okay we know the best place you’ve visited in the world where is the place you most want to visit in the world i’d love to go to Tokyo wow love to go to Japan and I would love to go to Colombia in South America okay why uh when I was traveling everybody I met said Columbia was beautiful and amazing and you should go there so that’s why but Tokyo I think I’d just love I’d love to go and experience like their 7-Eleven and things where there’s just amazing food really cheap um they’re really into golf so I’d like to play a little bit of golf there and everything seems nice and clean and systematic and it sounds perfect to me another cord green oh just got a few bubbles didn’t it yeah it was the right line yeah okay let’s get this up to the hole wow the wind really got hold of that one i saw three we’re still four under with the sea behind it’s incredible isn’t it how far 109 yards why have I done that i was so worried about the alignment that I completely forgot I was doing a 3/4 swing bye-bye ball this is such a good like family course if you’re on holiday here like just come down and play it’s a lot of fun travel okay we got another look i mean I feel like we’re a bit daffed now doing a break 30 but yeah sorry to the viewers but hopefully Steven’s Q&A is keeping you mildly interested mildly or fully interested or enthralled or unbelievably excited my vocab run out why are the two flags on the Cuz if there were three there’d be one too many interesting yeah is that it oh I presume one’s for the front nine and one’s for the back nine correct go in ah oh it didn’t turn at the end did it held there didn’t it okay that’s our three let’s see if you can make it a two so I take a bit of a tighter line well in yes another birdie we seem to be very nonshotten about this but this is going seriously well we’re five under and we’re birdieing par threes which on any break is like the hardest thing to do so but you’re birdieing them five under two to go two hole in ones and we break we get 20 yeah it’s true actually okay hole seven question seven yeah if you could change or add one rule in golf what would it be i can add one yeah if you don’t repair your pitch mark you get your handicap struck off and you’re not allowed to play golf ever again that’s how much it annoys me wow it’s that easy to repair a pitch mark that’s almost a pet peeve of yours it is a pet peeve it’s just so easy why aren’t people repairing their pitch marks it wrecks the greens if you don’t do it if you watched our green keepers video Ben said if they mow over it it can take like three or four times longer for it to heal is not the right word but you know prepare just just sort your pitch marks out people how difficult is it okay so hole eight par three 130 m it’s a nice hole this beautiful isn’t it see behind you okay right at the green not the greatest shot we’ve ever hit but not the worst but not the worst try and hit a little late just Just feel an eight in hold hold i think it’s just on the dance floor maybe just right edge of the green so before we get to the rapid fire round this is your last question okay what has been your favorite Yes Life video so far and why paraparumu part two not many people have watched it not as many as I think we expected to watch it but it’s such a good video we got the cart cam on there there’s some real good actual emotion and reaction from us because we’re trying to beat Tiger Woods uh so if you wanted to watch any other video I would recommend Power Paru part two i think it’s a really good video and it it shows us off on the course really well nice i like that oh great putt really good putt make it a two Sean come on go oh that was hard to hit it hard enough okay I think we’ll break I think we’ll break 30 on this one but let’s get Steve into his rapid fire questions what a cool last hole big slope from the left looks like he’s going to bounce in great fan i wonder if anyone’s ever hit the clubhouse with a T-shot maybe you know how they’ve been going earlier yeah do you know what that man’s doing installing solar no he’s going up in the world i have to put up with this i have to put up with this every time we play golf great shot okay we’re on the green great shot what’s awesome about this golf course I know it’s um school holidays but there’s so many kids out playing which is so good to see oh bounce right come on i don’t know if that’s going to make it down the hill i hope it does let’s go and find out shall we yes and let’s go for your quick fire round a few quick fire questions hit me driving or putting driving go for American football to watch American football yeah slow Town or Green Bay Packers slow Town always rebel till I die wine or champagne wine a 1998 Chatau Misar or a break 100 shat Misar cuz I I broke 100 i broke 90 bunkers or sort of vinegar bunkers uh they’re both terrible terrible things i would rather try to get out of a bunker than eat a salt and vinegar crisp tea or coffee tea always surf or ski definitely ski adventure or relaxing holiday adventure good wine or a good book can I have both together no okay good wine yes life or golf life yes life legends together this is a good six under this is for 23 i’d love to get around this golf course without making a bogey tap it in to be five under that’s five under that’s five under par 24 how good well done Stephen we broke 30 we got nine questions in quickfire round for you what a day thank you very much to Riversdale Beach what a great golf course
