One of the worst-kept secrets in golf equipment is finally out of the bag as Callaway is bringing its previously Japan-only X Forged ’24 irons to the U.S. market.

But Callaway isn’t simply flipping the switch on selling Japan-only irons that have been in the bags of numerous Tour players over the last year. The company is also announcing a player’s distance companion to the single-piece X Forged with the X Forged Max.

This video tells you everything you need to know about the new X Forged and X Forged Max irons.

  1. Serious question JW how would these compare (Max) to my current gamers Ti Fusions? Just incase Callaway remembers a lot of us are lefties!

  2. Still playing my X Forged 18 irons, was hoping maybe they'd expand to lefty on the wider release, I guess not!

  3. X Forged Star 2019 model have been fantastic irons…slightly bigger footprint and stronger lofts but same soft forging and good looks. I haven't tried the 2021 or 2024 models, but they look great also. Glad to see similar creatures come to the US retail market. I'm sure they'll have success.

  4. They are nice looking irons, not exactly a copy of Srixon irons but close – no doubt Srixon will be checking with their lawyers as to whether it is too close.

They spin pretty much exactly the same as my i210s and the i210s were first released 7 years ago.

The problem for Callaway is that they are launching the X Forged into a market which is packed with good looking, soft feeling forged player's cavity back irons. The X Forged is a good iron but it is not better than the competition.

After saying that if I were in the market for new irons these would definitely be on my list to try but behind the Bettinardi CBs, Wilson Staff CB, Srixon, possibly Blueprint S (not sure I have the talent for those), and Taylor Made P7CBs
