Joel Dahmen is widely regarded as one of the more approachable PGA Tour players off the golf course.

Golf fans warm to Dahmen because he is just a normal guy, ‘one of us’ if you will.

The 37-year-old’s lack of self-belief and openness during Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ documentary resonated with golf fans, and he has gained somewhat of a cult following since then.

Dahmen suffered heartbreak at the Corales Puntacana Championship earlier this season, when he bogeyed his final two holes on the final day to lose out by one stroke to Garrick Higgo.

It was a really tough beat for the likeable PGA Tour pro, and he has gained even more support since then.

One of the reasons why he is so popular is because of how accessible he is to his fans.

And he proved that yet again by taking part in a Q&A session on X in the early hours of Monday morning.

Joel Dahmen says if an LPGA Tour player could finish top-10 of a PGA Tour event

Dahmen ended up in a tie for 57th place at the John Deere Classic last week, after a disappointing final round of three-over par 74.

However, his spirits remained high after the tournament had finished.

The journeyman tour pro took to X while making his journey from Silvis, Illinois, on Monday.

And Dahmen responded to a question asked by The Golfing Gazette, pertaining to whether or not an LPGA Tour player could compete on the PGA Tour.

He said: “Course is a big factor. Nelly is the obvious answer, but going to need speed. The shortest hitter on PGA is still longer than the longest on the LPGA.“

If Brian Campbell can win twice on the PGA Tour, the likes of Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko and Minjee Lee would be more than capable of showing up on certain golf courses and making the cut at the very least.

Top five longest LPGA Tour drivers vs five shortest PGA Tour hitters

What Dahmen says about the longest players on the LPGA Tour compared to the shortest hitters on the PGA Tour isn’t necessarily true.

At least that’s not what the stats tell us.

5 longest LPGA Tour drivers5 shortest PGA Tour driversPolly Mack 289.17Brian Campbell 276.6Julia Lopez Ramirez 287.16Paul Peterson 280.0Auston Kim 285.10Andrew Putnam 282.0Emily Kristine Pedersen 283.66Matt Kuchar 284.7Weiwei Zhang 280.53Brandt Snedeker 285.5

In fact, there are 11 players on the PGA Tour who have averaged shorter distances off the tee than Polly Mack this season.

If someone like Korda, who averages more than 275 yards off the tee, were to play 25 PGA Tour tournaments, I would bet she’d make more than half of the cuts.

These ladies are seriously good, and I think many people underestimate their talent at times.
