It’s set to be a summertime sprint for the game’s best on the PGA TOUR as the John Deere Classic returns for another year. Rickie Fowler is back at TPC Deere Run for the first time in 15 years. This year, Fowler is looking to earn valuable FedExCup Points as he sits No. 72 in the standings, but has three top-20 finishes in his last six weeks. Two-time 2025 winner Ben Griffin is set to tee it up after a T5 in his debut at TPC Deere Run last season. Griffin also finished runner-up at the Memorial Tournament, and is playing some of the best golf of his career. Joining these two are Jason Day, Tom Kim and Max Homa among others looking to secure a win five weeks away from the FedExCup Playoffs.

121 into the first.
Yeah, Olocation pushed all the way in that back left corner. Made a couple of Eagles in his round yesterday. There were have been 50 together. He said he is close to playing some really good golf. Just has to be a little more patient with himself. Oh yeah, fantastic there. Just easy on the spin. Very nice.
Yesterday’s round had a really good solid night here. on this nine. Looking for a birdie of his own. Filling it up. Thompson to 12 under. Keep your foot on the gas.
So he’s jumped all the way up to 11 under one behind the co- leader champ who’s at the par three third. Yeah, just playing 126 yds today. Ton and he does. Eagle birdie camera champ three under his last two group. I’m George Sabaricus with you.
Nice one from Brian Campbell. This looks like it’s going to be fun today.
Making birdie putts everywhere. Campbell and Thompson. Both birdie the opening hole. Pretty good hole location for Matt Coocher.
Oh, look at that.
I mean, it was almost a guaranteed stuffing right there. You know, he was going to stuff that.
Cameron Champ Cameron Champ three under through three. Max Hel flashing it out. I don’t think that’s how he drew it up, but it’s going to work out.
You don’t think he was trying to bounce it through the rough, cold?
Two to the fourth. Can Kevin Roy keep it going? Just want to take this at the middle of the green. Let the wind work it over there. Beauty. Going for four in a row. [Applause] Certainly the demeanor that he carries when we see him week to week. Sheamus Power on the fifth to get to 10.
Get in there.
Get in there.
That needs it, George. You look at that number on the FedEx. Yeah, using the slope of the green, bringing it back. Well done. Davis talked about yesterday that he prides himself on not getting too emotional. Doesn’t very nice indeed. makes up for that horrible bogey at the second hole. Coach from 85 stay
settle. Settle. That’s right on the edge. Great shots. But that is
just especially in conditions like this. And cooch cooch. There it is. Jim grew up in Arlington Heights, two and a half hour drive from here. Chicago suburb. Went to Buffalo Grove High School. Greedo on the fifth. Up the hill moving to his left.
Count it.
Oh, look out. He’s been hitting the ball fantastic. He’s only missed three fairways this week for the first two days. So, Lipsky for Birdie on the fifth grade. Coming down the hill. Not much in this one. Lipsky two birdies his last three holes. That’s number one for me. Getting hybrids out of these guys golf bags. They’re they’re too easy to hit and it just to me it robs guys that are elite long iron players out of their their talent.
I mean, look at
Wow, what a shot from Cooer. He nearly dunked it.
Boy, that was right on queue, wasn’t it, Carl? Mhm.
10 under and within four of the lead. Here comes Matt Cooer. Bogey free. Three birdies plotting his way around. Glo has a birdie attempt. This at seven. Pretty much the exact same line as Max. Oh, he took advantage of that. I
learned something there. It’s You give any of these guys a good look like that, Colt, they’re apt to make it. That’s weird. Yes.
Okay. It’s obviously automatic from this distance. You tried your hardest, didn’t you? Wow. You tried your hardest. There he goes. Now within four. Nice bounce back for the Rebel. Go ahead. Oh, that straightforward. Carl
211. Camila Beagas over 20 years as a professional still out here grinding and finds it. Three putted for par at 10. Consider that almost a bounceback, Finchy.
Yeah. Now our final group, Davis Thompson here at the 10th. There we go. There’s a nice stroke from Davis Thompson. And Max has missed his last two irons way left.
And he’s going with a sixiron. Starts it right. Now drawing. Beautifully played, Max.
That’s how you come back.
Back on track. Went with the full six iron with a draw. Trapped it in there nicely. Beautifully done.
47 years old. Roy for the birdie. And there’s his first since the fourth. And he vaults back into the lead at 13 under.
Yeah. And Kurt Kyama in a little bit of trouble. Ian. Yeah, he’s missed a drive to the right. Always tree trouble. And then water left as well. That’s the big only 158 to go. So a short Oh wow. Wasn’t expecting that. Wow. Great effort there by Kittyama. Right level. Sorry, Lisa. Down the hill, breaking right. Slow down. Oh, the hole got in the way. Oh, this is a super shot. Should have come down more. Little more golf for you from around the golf course. David Lipsky moments ago for a share of the lead
and that’s a huge puck for David and when you’ve got 14 coming up the
and everyone has a crack at it but today only one player doy is actually on the surface. That is correct and we just saw it and a beautiful effort there by the Jagus. It is running away from him so I think he’s going to have to kind of hit an explosion shot here. Somewhat like a bunker shot.
That looked all right. Oh, this is special.
Yeah,
very nice. Makes his longest putt of the day. 8 ft 8 in tied for the lead. He’s got a little extra wall there. It was It was a safety play. A smart play though.
Yeah, I would think maybe four back going into Oh, that a boy. What an up and down. Got a tremendous break and uh
saw a lot of good things last week in Detroit. His teacher Eric Echelman has been uh around. Very pleased with the progress and gets it done. Different golf course than they played last year, but he’s still making the adaptations and still part of the conversation. Just a short one back at 17. Quick putt down the hill for birdie. Yes, Sheamus knocks it in.
That’s goal for you, Andrew.
Unbelievable.
Miss yourself.
Yeah, same. Looks like that was that’s what he was trying to do, Colt.
Well, this is nine iron and this is just a little left of it.
Yeah, it was good. Oh, what a beautiful two fist pump. Love it. White soul is actually playing as was Campbell 17.
Sam Stevens made bogey, but this is for birdie and Beagus finds himself now part of a fiveway tie for the lead. Max Homo with his third. going with the long lazy swing trying to put some spin on it. That was beautiful. Sure was
spectacular shot.
Leaves it under the hole.
Well, Ian, during the golf channel show, we were talking about what’s going to be leading at the end of the day and we all said around 17 under. That just hasn’t happened. That happened for Max Home at 14 under par. He takes the lead. David Lipsky going for it off a hook lie. You expect it to go left. Does he get a right bounce though? Trying and in fact did long distance for Eagle. Home has company. Birdie for Lipsky. More Come on. God, excellent golf shot. Hard to the green. Yeah. Nothing uncomfortable about that. One shot back now. Here at 18, the second for GLO. Eight iron from 160. What a beautiful swing.
This is right on line, Ian.
Yeah.
Wow. How good did that look, Colt? Beautiful shot there for Greo. A four-way tie at the top, but the first one to post 14. First in, last out. Looking good. It’s very good for Campbell. 36 ft his longest make for the week and he too now tied at the top. This is handsome in the air. Staring at it and a great shot by Thompson. A chance to get in at 15 under par. And the defending champ heads into the final round with a oneshot lead. Missed one from a similar distance for Eagle back at 17. Knocks that one in the heart.
And lots of players will have a chance tomorrow for the final round here at the John Deere Classic. So for Ian Baker Finch and our entire CBS golf team, this is Andrew Catalan saying so long from the Quad Cities. Thanks for joining us a bit earlier today and we’ll see you tomorrow for the final round at 3 p.m. Eastern time right here on CBS. Thanks for watching the PJ Tour on YouTube. 1. When you show players lining up 20 footers. We know they're going in. Where's the drama? Show more recovery shots. Or bad misses. It's all golf.

  2. I don't why the announcers keep calling Camilo Villegas VeJagas. Anyone who has taken a Spanish class knows the double L has a yeah sound.

  3. PGA and TV networks glad Fowler faded so they don't have to show him anymore. PGA must still be mad at him.

  4. 4:10 commentator taking a huge miss by saying that hybrids rob other elite iron players of an advantage by saying theyre "too easy to hit". this is a ridiculous statement because if this is the case then why dont those "elite" players use hybrids then? dude makes no sense

  5. Wow, Matt K. and about 50% of field should leave the tuck in sports shirt in the drawer and wear a MooMoo!!

  6. How is it possible that Joel Dahmen plays so well and again no one shows any of his highlights? Netflix gets it – how come you guys don’t?
