so I was a little bit shocked when I found out how much more popular cricket was worldwide than baseball i think baseball is the best sport in the world but apparently most of you disagree because there’s like two to three times as many cricket fans as there are baseball fans in the world so it begs the question which bat can hit a baseball better and you could even argue the cricket bat industry is even bigger than the baseball bat industry these things can get up to $1,000 this bat right here is English Willow which is apparently like the gold standard that That’s the maple wood of Cricut bats we have a Cookabura Stealth right here i bought it off of I think best cricutbats.com or something like that full English willow uh these things are huge obviously compared to a baseball bat this is uh 34 in and 40 oz so kind of like Babe Ruth dimensions so for our baseball bat I wanted to get something slightly similar just a huge bat right here we have the Mark Maguire replica turn model uh the MM25 this is 34 1/2 in 33 oz which is like you know one of the biggest bats you’re going to find so Maple versus willow baseball versus cricket let’s start with our baseball bat all right so this is going to be a straight distance off we’re going to see what bat we can hit farther with uh ideally with a wood bat we’re going for about 420 425 ft here 105 for 241 hammered that ball all right that’s going to be good exit elo 101 mph 421 ft good start with the baseball bat i think we got a little more in the tank though this bat is so heavy shout out Mark Maguire oh that’s a damn shot

yes all right i would genuinely like to know if this is the farthest hit baseball with the cricket bat 49 ft i’m actually impressed i didn’t think we’d do it little bit of o little bit of damage not too bad all right so main takeaways cricket is way more difficult than I thought uh way more of like a contact focused sport so it seems at least kind of from my experience but I’m impressed dude this was pretty solid 409 ft 102 mph the baseball bat did win but I didn’t even think I would sniff the fence so I’m almost a cricket fan but still baseball all the way

Ha ha ha, you should face a bouncer from a fast bowler, hits the ground and bounces randomly, and then a super slow spinner, also hits the ground. I can hit the fast balls, I struggle with the slow spinning things, hitting full toss (no bounce off the ground) one can judge the. All different skills. Globally there are still a stack more of people that watch cricket.

So first off, cricket ball is heavier. Second, the bat is made to STAND. Sometimes for hours, not max 9 balls. Thirdly, it's made to suppress vibration. Lastly, in cricket, the ball bounces….typically you don't get a full toss, there is a bounce and odd spin. It's unbelievably complex.
Hmmm… 4 hours at the crease and all the concentration required to make say a century against balls bowled at you at up to 100mph. Doesn't compare. 3 strikes? What is that? Momentary concentration.

Your bat angle is all wrong with the cricket bat. Your swing needs to be less horizontal and more vertical. Almost like a golf swing. You probably can go 20-50% in distance if you altered your swing.

Not a good comparison as a cricket bat is a composite of handle/ bat materials. The other is usually turned down from a single section of selected wood. Differing Design for differing applications.

When you make a good shot at cricket it 'thwocks' of the bat, willow on cork (yes the ball is also made of wood), and Gary Sobers could absolutely send a ball out of a two tier stadium and heading down the high street. Doesnt matter though because there are no bonus points for hitting it hard- most players who just sky balls as hard as they can lose their wicket and last two minutes. Good cricket batters need to be perfect at every shot, the big hits for 6, a hard straight shot for 4 runs, accurately cutting a ball between fielders avoiding getting hit as this will lead to the infielders catching you out, and more importantly defending the stumps behind you with a range of blocks. And you dont know where the ball will bounce and you have to start moving your feet before the ball has left the bowlers hand to get properly set. Baseball just doesnt compare.
Never seen a cricket bat held like that- hurts my eyes, so little touch and feel to guide the ball into space. Its a different sport because the bowler isnt trying to hit the strike zone and isnt punished if they screw with the batter- the best cricket is when a bowler will absolutely send five 100mph balls at your head bouncing in every direction then send one slower that is designed to nick the edge of the bat and get caught by a perfectly placed fielder, or will send constant balls whizzing temptingly past the bat before finding the sweet spot to bounce ball off so it flies back under their bat and hits thier legpad for an LBW or straight through the stumps. There are also a thousand traditional ways to tactically set out the fielders to either defend against batters scoring runs or to get catches and deciding that is one of the biggest jobs of the team Captain. Baseball is whack it hard and run. Cricket is art.
