In my 20’s learning to play I carried all the time. Been wanting to give it a shot in my 50’s. I teed off early (7:45am) hoping to avoid the heat. Didn’t feel the heat until about hole 13 but the humidity had to be 100% today. Brenham Country Club in Texas. Not gonna lie – when I got home and out of my truck I could barely move. Really felt the walk the last few holes. I’ll do it more though. I’ve tried the push cart some but carrying is just different. Don’t know how to explain it. On a practical note next time I’ll have a full change of clothes and shoes for the ride home. Not one stitch on me was dry after the round. Close to 14k steps.

Yupp.. 36 and love to carry still. Nice add on to get some steps in during busy work week/toddler life 😂
Nothing like putting the bag down next to the ball and planning your shot
Nothing like being able to carry your bag with you when you hit it in the shit
I prefer a push cart. Haven’t carried in years
In the UK probably 95% play either carrying or with a trolley – 50/50 split I’d say. Buggies are rare.
I also carry and always walk (in extreme heat I use a roller). Riding a cart destroys my game. Need the walk to plan the next shot.
Push cart mafia.
Always.
61 years old and I carry every time. No cart unless the course doesn’t allow walkers
PushCart Cartel here
I did until about 4 years ago when I got my knee replaced (at 66). Doctor said to stop carrying so I walk with a cart now
49 and went back to carrying 5 yrs ago co, I was sick of not being allowed near greens and probably walking more stops with a trolley.
When I play in Canada, cart golf always. When I’m anywhere in the UK/Ireland, I carry. I’ve come to really enjoy walking the course more.
Grew up carrying and as adult (now 46) I always play better when I’m carrying, somehow feel the course better or concentrate more or something?
Second best is a push cart. I hate playing with a driven cart. Usually just walk when we have them and meet my playing partners by the balls.
Trolley when back or shoulders is having issues. Always walk. I use a buggy MAYBE 3 times per year
I’m part of the push cartel but only use 11 clubs. Part of me fantasizes about getting rid of a few clubs and just carrying a small Sunday bag
A friend of mine and his son were just over in Scotland for 10 days from Canada. My friend who is now 71 had knee replacement surgery about five years ago and was able to start walking again for 18 holes. Uses a pull cart these days. He sent me a text from Scotland saying they played a place in Aberdeen that didn’t have pull carts or buggies. Had to carry for the first time in 25 years. He told me he was probably gonna pass on drinks afterwards and go right back to the hotel and hop in the tub. Lol.
I caddied and carried all through high school. Unfortunately I’m just to busy now and I can’t do the extra time it takes to carry :/ unless it’s a specific trip to play golf. The cart just speeds play so much for me. Also it’s to hot during the Texas summers
I refuse to in honor of avenging Max Homa’s US Open death.
I do not. I’m 70. And still sweatin’.

When it’s not 95 out with 85% humidity, it’s a great time. Golfing in the south has some perks, the summer is not one of them
Isn’t it bad for your back?
I played college golf, 25 years ago. I’m old. We all carried of course, and back then college events were 36 holes day one, 18 day two for a 54 hole event. I prefer walking 100%, but push carts are the way
I’m 53 and have walked and carried my whole life. 90% of my rounds are walk and carry rounds. In fact, my club is a walking only club.
This is reddit. We carry 300+ and dont read the whole post anyway.
It gets easier. The 18 carry is really just a 7 mile hike w 25 pounds on your back.

Rain or shine I’m doing 9, or 27…
Right here. My back strong yet.
Push cart just better for the longevity of your back, especially if you play a lot of rounds/year
Carry on my wayward son🥲
I used to but this year I joined the mafia
Nope. Destroyed my back.
I’m a member of the push cartel as a result.
I’ve now joined the mafia, bought a vessel because I like the way it looked, weights a ton when full
I have slipped disc issues, and carrying makes me significantly worse by the minute I walk with it on my back, so I very much try not to carry. Push carts save my life
I would but shoulder issues. Push cart though if it’s not boiling hot out.
I used to carry but now enjoy the convenience of my drink, snacks, phone and range finder easily accessible in my push cart.
Push cart for me, it’s about the sound my clubs make every single step I take it drives me nuts
Snuck a selfie in there with a fuck you smerk lol
Most of the time. If I’m playing with a group of older friends that all ride, I’ll grab a seat. Otherwise I’m carrying. I agree with the sentiment that golf is meant to be walked. More time for conversation, and feel like I get to know the course more intimately.
Im 49 and I carry for the most part. Helps me keep trim and I feel more connected to my game.
I love my pushcart, see zero reason to ever carry.
I always carried my clubs. Just recently bought a push cart
I’ll walk every time a cart isn’t included in the price of the greens fee, or if I’m with a Friend or family member that would rather ride.
Walking > Cart, most of the time
I’ve carried since I started playing. About 23 years now. I’m switching to push carts now since I want to continue walking but my back is starting to give out (I’m 30)
If my course looked anything like yours, I would give it a try. My course might have six relatively flat holes. More uphill holes than otherwise. I’m not out there trying to make it harder.
Best of both worlds for me. I just walk and let my e-cart carry the clubs for me 🙂
69 year old checking in. I walk and carry 90% of the time. The best way to enjoy a round I think. Hydrate!!
