Max Homa lit up the John Deere Classic with a stunning round of 64—but don’t expect him to gush about it. In a surprising post-round interview, Homa downplayed his performance, calling it “nothing special.” Fans were quick to react as the PGA Tour star brushed off what many saw as an elite display of ball-striking and composure. Is Homa setting a new standard for himself, or is this just classic Max staying humble? Watch the full reaction and highlights from his round at TPC Deere Run.

Yeah, I played really nice. I don’t think I did anything um exceptionally well. Uh I drove it better than I have most of the season, so it was nice to get to get in a rhythm with my irons and uh made a lot of putts. So, it just felt uh felt pretty easy overall.
I was going to say the putter looked pretty exceptional to me today. But let’s talk about that driver because you’ve been on record saying that it needs to get better. How do what kind of grade do you give yourself today with it?
Oh, yeah. That was a massive A. I have a big thank you to uh my coach John. Uh he found something late yesterday. Um it was quite hard to do, but it limited a lot of the thoughts. And um yeah, I didn’t hit any crazy ones. Uh hit a lot of fairways and then even the little things just the 3-woods off the tea. Uh sometimes we take for granted and they haven’t been very good this year. Um three-wood segments like layup holes and those were great. So, um, you know, I know it can get a little bit more comfortable, but I was, uh, really, really stoked with, uh, you know, where the ball was going
