Robert McIntyre is gearing up to defend his Genesis Scottish Open title next week, and he’s doing it in classic Scottish fashion by sharpening his game on some iconic Lynx turf. The 28-year-old will enter one of the biggest weeks of his career on home soil with momentum on his side as he joins a star-studded field at the Renaissance Club in East Lotheian. The co-sanctioned event will feature the game’s elite, including all of the top five players in the official World Golf Rankings, eight of the top 10, and 13 of the top 20. Fans will also see all four reigning major champions in action, Scotty Sheffller, Rory Mroy, Xander Showfell, and JJ Spawn. But McIntyre may have a small edge over his competitors. He’s already been dialing in his game on true Scottish links. Earlier this week, McIntyre made a quick trip south from his hometown of Obin to the legendary Macrahan Golf Club on Scotland’s rugged west coast. The tranquil setting provided the perfect escape and the perfect tuneup for the left-hander who fired a brilliant 500par 65 on the iconic par 70 course. Can he beat some Lynx Golf? McIntyre posted on X, formerly Twitter, after going out in 33 and back in 32. He shared clips of his round on Instagram, Tik Tok, and X, including a video from the first tea down at Macraanish Golf Club today. He said, “Nice to get a little bit of Link’s golf practice ahead of the Scottish Open next week.” And what about this for an opening T-shot? The club, where McIntyre is an honorary member, was thrilled to host him ahead of his title defense and upcoming appearance at the Open. It was a privilege to have honorary member Robert McIntyre at Macraanish this week in his preparation for the Scottish Open and the Open. The club posted go well over the coming weeks. Bob McIntyre’s round featured a red-hot stretch that included birdies on three of his final four holes on the front nine at the sixth, eighth, and ninth, followed by three more in the back nine at the 10th, 12th, and 13th. The Scott is coming off a hectic run on the PGA tour, having competed in seven consecutive tournaments from the truest championship in May through to the Travelers Championship in June. Now, after a welltimed break and a restorative link session, McIntyre is ready to take on the world’s best in front of a home crowd.
