An historic week on the ladies European tour coming to Ireland for the fourth year in a row at Conhouse Fairmont on the Amira course for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Leona Magguire always the focal point of attention. Disappointing last day despite holding out there at the last for par. No birdies in a round of 75 for the only Irish player to have played in the Soulheim Cup. The leading Irish woman was Anna Foster, the player from Dublin finished top five last week in Germany and she finished in 12th place here in Ireland with a final day 72. There’s something about Ireland Kirsten Raji just seems to love. For the third year in a row, she’s finished inside the top five. Beautiful shot out of the bunker there at 17 on her way to a 72 that left her at 10 under par. Last year Kiara Tambellini went to the top of the order of merit with a closing 66. Despite suffering with illness yesterday, she stuck around all week. A 71 to conclude things also finishing at 10 under par as did Ferta Fernandez Cano who equaled the best round of the week with a 66 that shot her up the leaderboard. Solid week for Charlie Hull. The world number 19 closing with a round of 69 to take fourth place at 12 under pass. She’ll head to Evian in good form. Big week for Amelia Garvey, the Kiwi finishing in third place for the third time in four weeks and a performance with a closing 67 that will see her into the AIG Women’s Open. The leading professional with a final round of 68 was Soulheim star from Sweden, Meline Sagstrom. Finishing at 15 under par, which means she takes the first prize check even though she finished in second place. That’s because the winner was an amateur. Lotty W starting the final day with a sevenshot advantage and the victory never looked in doubt. She went in two out in two under par. Picked up another birdie there at 13. Just three bogeies all week and some class shots like this one from the rough at the par 517th. The first amateur winner on the ladies European tour since 2022. Six birdies in a closing round of 69. A 21 underpar total and a sixshot victory. the world number one amateur playing like a professional and keeping the pros far far away. A statement performance for the 21-year-old from Farnum Insari in England. Look at the names just tucked in behind her. The likes of Meline Saxrom and Charlie Hull. But they were a long way behind her. Never looked in doubt. Lotty heads to Evian as the KPMG Women’s Irish Open Champion.
