Thorbjornsen got it to 9 under with two to go on the par-71 track, so for a brief while, the 59 Watch was on. But he kinda made a mess of the par-5 17th, taking a double bogey before making birdie at the last.
All in all it’s a final-round 63 which moved him up 48 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for seventh when he signed his card. At 13 under, he’s two shots off the lead, so he’ll probably hang out for a few hours to scoreboard watch.
Thor opened birdie-eagle Sunday and then had two more birdies on Nos. 6 and 7. He then got his second eagle in 10 holes on the 10th. After a 174-yard layup with his second, his third from 102 yards went past the hole but spun back and went in for a 3.
He is 7 under through 10 and at 12 under overall, tied for sixth, up 49 spots on the leaderboard and now just three shots off the lead.

Davis Thompson, the tournament’s defending champion, made birdie at 18 to get to 15 under. He will hold the solo 54-hole lead in his quest to be the first repeat champ here since Steve Stricker won three in a row from 2009 to 2011.
It’s a four-way tie for second at 14 under between David Lipsky, Emiliano Grillo, Max Homa and Brian Campbell, made back-to-back birdies on Nos. 17 and 18, the last putt from more than 36 feet away.
Four golfers are tied for sixth at 12 under: Kurt Kitayama, Austin Rckroat, Seamus Power and Camilo Villegas. There are 21 players within four shots of the lead.
