So guys, don’t you think it’s amazing when we see every single player in this position, all the past champions, seeing these one, two, three fingers of the glove hand here. Don’t you think it’s amazing that this isn’t a position that we were all trying to get into all the time? Like when we’re playing golf, what we’re seeing with amateur golfers is we see them casting because casting the club helps them square. So they flip. So, they can’t handle the angle cuz they really don’t really have the hand motion here. Sometimes it’s worse. Sometimes it’s here, but they don’t really have enough rotation. So, they flip to rotate, pause, and stand up and get around this area here. So, people, the less angle that you have here coming down, the earlier that the club head touches the ground before it touches the ball. fat shots, thin shots, no speed, lack of compression, and early extension. In fact, it makes ball striking or consistent ball striking simply impossible. So guys, the more lag you have coming down, the bigger and better the angle that you have coming down, the faster you’ll have to rotate your forearms, hands, and wrists to accommodate that. to get in this perfect position here to the ball, this checkpoint where the world’s best ball strikers are. From here, it’s a no-brainer. Compression, speed, consistency of strike. It just makes the game easier. Unfortunately, here we see it already breaking down with the handicap six. Unconsciously, he’s already started to cast, flip, dump, lag, lose angles to help him square the face because of the insufficient amount of hand and wrist and forearm rotation through the golf ball. Here we can see that the glove hands on top, the chicken wing effect, all characteristics of too little rotation with the hands, forearms, and wrists. And it progressively breaks down as we go through the levels. This is really the truth to the amateur golfer. No shaft lane scraping along the ground, making it really difficult to hit clean, consistent shots. So people, there’s an easier way to swing. There’s a more powerful and freer way to swing the golf club. And it’s really the modern way to swing, guys. Now, it’s got amateurs baffled looking at how these wrists really work. From certain angles, we get a little bit fooled, but we have the data. We have the information. Dr. Robert Neil from worldclassgolf.com. We know what the hands and the wrists are doing. This is evidence-based material. Freeing up your swings to create power, speed, shaft lean, and improve your all round ball striking. There’s one drill people coming up here. I really want to see if you can do this drill. It’s a game changer. Let’s get stuck into some fields, some drills to help you finally get your golf in the right direction and improve your ball striking on the path of playing your best golf. So people have a look at the plane here, how that’s working, right? Learning that the hands, the plane, the through swing. Look at that lead wrist, how extended right wrist flex. Now this is the way to really pick up your lag angles, right? Increasing angles coming down here. So at that last split second, release this club head past the golf ball. This is a great feel here. All right, we’re going to keep the club face down. All right, so we’re going to move it into a three knuckle grip so you can see the logo. Keep the club pointed down. See that face? You’re not seeing the logo here. And then when you move through the golf ball, we’re going to point the logo up. Right. So, we’re going to get the logo down. And then we’re going to get the logo pointed up. I absolutely ripped that. See what my lead wrist is doing there? Right. You’ve got your shaft lane, but we’re releasing it underneath. Once again, just little half swings here, people. Face is pointed down. And then we’re going to get this club head just to release under. Really got great compression on that. And you can see the fingers here. See the fingers, the lead hand. What a wonderful drill that is. And just to illustrate that a little bit more effectively, three knuckle grip, keep the face down and point this club head or point the logo, I should say, pointed up and you’re getting yourself on a fantastic plane here through the golf ball, keeping your neck tilt through the ball. And really, this is a great way to create so much effortless power and speed in your swing. So guys, let’s jump off the couch and try this. Have a look at this. Right? Have a look at this position. I’m not kidding you. Have a look where my lead wrist is in relationship to the right. Now they’re both touching. All right. Now, this is what I want you to do. Get yourself into this position here. Now, when we swing back, all right, I want you to get the feeling that you’re cocking the wrist. You’re bringing them back and the right wrist is going to have a really have a lot of angle in it. Have a look at the professional next to me. All right. As I swing back and I’m coming down, have a look at that right wrist. That see that position on on the right of the screen there? That’s the wrist position that I want. And then through the golf ball, I want to get this position here. Have a look at the professional on the right side screen. See how his hands are moving. So get this is your drill. This is just to create some awareness. Right? This is what this how you pick up your speed. This is what the hands are really doing. Guys, coming up shortly, we’re going to hear what Pedri Harrington and Johnny Miller say is the secret to effortless speed and power. All right, get your hands like this. All right, get that inside of this lead hand touching the inside of the right wrist. Swing back. Swing through. And you’re going to get this whipping effect. See how my hands are moving. And you can just get a feeling then of what your hands are doing on the way back. We can get this angle right. And we can start to really get this club head to swing and release. Getting this lead hand to move in extension, picking up your speed, helping you get your shaft lean, and just freeing up your entire motion. So guys, let’s have a quick listen to what Pedri Harton has to say about the hands and the wrist. X- number one player, 42 professional wins, including five majors, two on the senior tour.
It’s taken me about 35 years to realize actual in fact the most important thing in your golf swing is gray hands. So if you’re afraid of using your hands, you’re doing it wrong. Your body and your hips do not square the club face up. Okay? So, I’m going to try and release that club as hard as I can. And what you’ll see, I actually I’ll do two and we’ll see. I’ll try and have no release. Okay? I drag the club. I hit it thin. And I’ll try and have massive release. And if I try and have massive release, you’ll actually see I lag the club. So, by trying to fire the your hands, you’ll actually lag it. So, I’m going to try and release as hard as I can. Like so. And I could feel that go this way before it went that way. So, people, right, let’s just have a quick listen here to David Duval, ex number one player in the world and 13 time winner on the PJ tour and British Open Champion. Let’s have a quick listen to what he says about release.
And he said, “All right, now throw it directly behind you into the fence.” I’m like, “Come on.” He goes, “No, no, trust me. If you try to roll, you’re not going to do it particularly successfully. But if you get your hands going this way, getting the right going under the left, you can throw it behind you and see where my wrist is.
I bet you can.
Again, watch where my wrist is. Okay. And the face is still square. Now, coming up after this quick clip, we’ve got the best feel to improve your hand and wrist motion immediately. Let’s now have a listen to Johnny Miller as he explains how all ammers can really create effortless power.
And another way of thinking it is is this left thumb. I want you to think of this. Your thumb starts at the ball. Doesn’t matter what kind of grip you have, that thumb is going to point at the ball. And when you go back, everybody’s way over here. And you’re coming down here. And boy, this thumb now has got a lot of work to do to get back to that ball when you get down in here. So you got to know that it doesn’t keep stand here. If your thumb hangs back here, pointing there, you’re going to be a slicer, a push slicer. You got to know that a lot of the power in golf comes from the thumbs here, and then just this much, this much time, it goes whoom and the club moves 5 ft. That’s where the pros get all that power. You don’t see because the average amateur gets up here and he comes down here and he goes like this. There’s no crossover power where a lot of pros like a Tiger Woods will get down here real deep or Hogan, Ben Hogan, real here. Then in just one little flash they go and they get all that crossover power. That’s where a lot of the power comes by taking that thumb getting it back to square at impact or if you draw it making the thumb actually get ahead of the ball at impact and that’s a draw and then you hit that way. Okay. So guys, we just sold out our golf schools in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Neil and myself. The new golf schools will be in the last week of September. Evidencebased instruction guys. No more guesswork. What are you waiting for? But reach out to me at craworldclassgolf.com. craig craworldclassgolf.com and we’ll get you playing the best golf that you’ve ever played. So guys, if you want me to analyze your swing, give you an online lesson, this is what you’ll get. A video with my voice over your swing, side by side examples, finding that point of failure in your golf swing, specializing with senior players, online lessons with people from all over the world. Have a look at this drill here. And I’ve shown people this for quite some time. Right wrist moving into this flex position, left wrist into this extended one. And this is a wonderful way for people to learn to also rotate, but release it a little bit under. There’s a combination of rotation. Then you’ve got right wrist flexion, left wrist extension, and we can combine the two. Now, let’s have a look at this for a second here. Moving through the golf ball. Right arm parallel to the ground. Around about right arm parallel to the ground here. Knees closed up. You see where the grip’s pointing down almost like it’s on extension of my right leg here. Now from this side, what we’re doing is we’re getting this type of look. So guys, we’re not rolling the club viciously over. There’s a combination of right wrist flexion. See the picture on the left, left wrist extension here. And it’s this combination that frees up the release and enables players to really create much more lag and a much better angle coming down. And I think we can see it from this angle here. I filmed a professional golfer from a ladder actually filming down. You can see that movement just by imitating these movements and understanding what the hands of the wrists are doing. The greatest way to be able to pick up your angles and create effortless speed and effortless power. We’re going to feel like these wrists touch like they’re moving under Arma Adam Scott looking at Victor Hovlin, Nelly Cer. You know, we’ve seen it with Hogan through the golf ball. Dshambo has been talking about this for a couple of years now and we’ve seen with great players like Garcia as well. Wonderful way to move freely through the golf ball. What we can do, get yourself into the position. Right wrist flexion, left wrist extension. Just stay there for 5 seconds or so. All right, just get a feel of where that is. Come back, really keep it nice and loose and then wind it up and then move through the golf ball. I’m really flushed that one. And it’s effortless speed and and power moving through the golf ball. Closing up the gap of your knees. High left shoulder. Seeing a large part of this arm. We’re getting this right wrist flex. This left wrist extended. Capturing feels looking down at your hands and wrist. You can apply lots of little practice swings. Wind it up and release it past the golf ball. Here, guys. We’re going to release it here past the golf ball. And we’re not releasing it back here. It’s not flipping and we’re not taking the hands out of it. Everyone believing that somehow you’ll be more consistent if you take the hands out of it. How did that ever get famous? My god. Okay, so let’s have a quick listen to what Fred Couples has to say about the release. Get the club up here. I clear my hips, but I release the club going down the line. But when I say release, I don’t hold on this way. Otherwise, you’re going to hit it a mile to the right. So, if you can learn to clear your hips a little bit and let the club go down the line and release it towards the ball, not back here where you’re doing this. So, there’s a point where I think about once I make contact, then I feel like I’m releasing the club. So, it’ll be what I call past the ball. So, once again, for me, I get the club back and once I come down here, I’m clearing and my point of release is actually at the ball, not back here. You’re holding your angle. Once I get here, I go at it with pretty much, it doesn’t look like it, but I go at it with everything I have. So, what’s absolutely remarkable these days through the use of your mobile phone, your cell phone, you can measure the rotation. And what we see when we see the handicap zero to handicap six, see the different numbers there, we’re getting less and less rotation through the golf ball. And the higher that the handicap is, I’m just measuring so many so many people. I think this is fascinating. The less amount of rotation that you have. Now, this this hack motion, this this sensor, it just it’s incredible. It just does so many different things. So, guys, getting this right wrist to move hack motion of using the trail wrist is how good is this, right? It’s so good this thing. But moving into the position, if we if we lose these position, we start to get these chicken wings. We start to get stiff release patterns here. This movement through what you can do is you can set it up when you hit a shot. You can play it back and have a look at the truth, right? where your wrist positions were. Now, moving through the golf ball when we’re freeing up the release and we’re getting around minus30 degrees here in this trail wrist into a flexed position here. Understanding your wrist angles, getting a 45 angle degree angle coming down and moving it into a minus 30 degree through the golf ball. You’re getting your highest point of speed at impact. Best golf instructor out there !!! Can’t wait for every new video . Thanks Craig 👍🏾🙏🙏
Love the content as usual Craig 👍🏌🏻⛳️
Paddy's not great with eye contact.
I like the analogy" It's like driving a nail into a piece of wood with a hammer"
Craig, love your golf swing—one of the best I’ve ever seen
Easily one of the most useful videos I’ve seen on hands and wrists. Great video, Craig.
This is honestly the real truth about amateur golfers. Great stuff.
Unbelievable information—probably the best video I’ve ever seen
Unbelievable how clear this is. Really appreciate it, Craig.
Finally someone tells the truth about why amateurs struggle. Great video.
This video nails it. So many of us are doing this without realizing. Thanks for the insight.
“Release underneath”. Gold.
Same wrist angle for driver?
I had a swing analysis done by Craig. It went for 20 minutes with side-by-side examples—easily the best information I’ve ever had on my swing. Highly recommend it.
You have to get a swing analysis from Craig—he’s the best in the business
Didn’t realize my wrists were causing so many of my bad shots. Thanks for explaining it clearly.
The step-by-step feel of this makes it so much easier to follow. Great job, Craig.
Craig, u r simply GENIUS!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all of your great work and information!!! The way u explaining the techniques are simply the best!!!! Best teacher ever!!!!!!
are you not swinging and releasing from the top yourself? just in a different way?
Does the paint brush takeaway help wrist lag?
Good stuff. Is this the result of having relaxed hands and arms or are you actually forcing this to happen? Thanks.
Great video. Very interesting and not something I’ve seen talked about much on YouTube. FYI Padraig is pronounced Paw-drig. Or even just Paddy is quite acceptable. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Good video well done – but please learn how to pronounce ‘Padraig’ – it’s should sound like ‘Paw-raig’ 😮
when i do that i snapp hook or pull hook?
Good lesson
I’ve been trying for two seasons now to get my wrist to release like that and it’s just not happening. The battle continues.
Pretty impressive advert. You shoehorned that in perfectly. First time I've actually watched an ad to the very end.😅
I liked Johnny Miller's left thumb pointer. Credit to you – you're one of very few Youtube guys who actually hits a ball!
This feels like the secret to the swing that I am just not understanding yet. Thank you
Thank you so much Craig. As usual, an education in golf technique.
I've got back my love for the game working on your instruction for a couple of years now.
