Welcome back to episode 139 of BIRDIES WITH BOYNSY 📹⛳
Still working through a broken finger, Boynsy continues to deliver weekly videos.
This week, we’re getting creative with a one-handed bunker shot. While definitely not a shot you’d rely on in competition, it’s a fantastic practice tool.
Typically done with the lead hand, this drill helps improve touch, feel, and can reduce tension in your grip. Try hitting 5–10 shots one-handed, then switch back to two hands—you’ll likely notice improved rhythm and control in your bunker play.

Hi everyone. Welcome back to another episode of Birdies with Boisey. Still with the injury, but we’re out on the course today. We’re going to try and hit a one-handed bunker shot and show show you how simple this can really be. So, we’re going to try and keep everything the same as if it was a two-handed shot. I’m not really sure. I think the left hand might just go on the go down there. Keep it out the way. So, the ball position is still going to be at the front. The feet are going to be slightly left and the face is going to be slightly open. I’ve just got my range wedge here that I use. It’s all about rhythm and tempo. We still need to try and get that strike. So, I’m just going to come in just behind the ball and hopefully get that acceleration up. It’s still going to pop up. So, I’ve got my 54 degree wedge. Everything’s the same. The wind’s picking up a little bit. I’ve just got to make sure I get that acceleration through. As I said, ball position at the front, weight forward. The only difference is I’m only going to have one hand on the club. So, I’ve still got to get that release. We’ll get that height. Let’s give it a go. Oh, just a little bit heavy. So, not bad. Little bit too much sand. Don’t quite let get the distance. If only I had another ball to have another go. So, just going to try and get a little bit closer into the back of the ball. Land it where that one’s finished. And hopefully we can get this a little bit closer. Oh, that’s the one.
Go. So, like I said, how easy can bunker shots be? If I can do it one-handed with a broken finger, you guys with two clubs on the hand, two hands on the club should be easy. If you’ve got any other shots you’d like to give me a demonstration or you’d like to see a demonstration with one hand, let me know and we’ll give it a go.
