[MUSIC] >> Speaker 2: So King, what do you think? Do you think an Elimination Match
suits him to the ground? >> Speaker 3: As Sheamus said moments ago. >> I’m gonna tell you
something about Sheamus. I’ve come to realize, don’t doubt anything that this man says
because he is capable of everything. >> Speaker 2: He’s had an absolutely
amazing first year and a half to the WWE. >> Speaker 4: It’s been a meteoric rise
for Sheamus to the top of the WWE. And now five other challengers,
four of them former champions, have their sights set on
Sheamus’s WWE Championship. [MUSIC] [NOISE] [MUSIC] >> Speaker 2: What an explosion. >> Speaker 2: Wow. [MUSIC] It doesn’t matter if the universe is
booing, if is cheering, John Cena. >> [CROSSTALK]
>> Speaker 3: There you go. >> Speaker 4: John Cena is charismatic,
made from granite, seemingly impenetrable. But tonight will be a true
test of John Cena resolved. >> Speaker 2: John Cena and
Sheamus have had their issues in the past. Remember, Sheamus won his
first WWE Championship in a tables match over John Cena. He won a second WWE Championship
beating John Cena thanks to Nexus, a long storied rivalry
between these two men. >> Speaker 4: In this match,
out of the six competitors, John Cena has held
the WWE Championship the most times. That experience will
certainly be a factor. >> Speaker 5: This is
the moment I’m the same. [NOISE] [MUSIC] >> Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, Edge,
who’s had his problems with the Raw general manager over
the past couple of weeks. We’ll put all that aside here tonight. King, he said earlier
that he shocks people and that he’s called the ultimate
opportunist for a reson. >> Speaker 3: Well, if he comes out of
this Six Pack Challenge Elimination Match as the WWE Champion, he’s gonna certainly
shock a lot of people here tonight, Neil. Most importantly,
he’ll shock those five other participants. [MUSIC] >> Speaker 5: There he is, the superstar first ever to unite
the World’s Heavyweight and WWE Championships, trash,
disingenuous and self-serving. And now a brand new DVD
dedicated to the life and times of Chris Jericho’s poised for
release. >> Speaker 3: And
you talk about disingenuous. >> Speaker 2: That’s what Chris Jericho,
we talked about earlier tonight. Reneging on a promise to walk away if
he didn’t win the Championship tonight. >> Speaker 4: Chris Jericho
spoke with much confidence and hubris earlier tonight. >> Speaker 4: What? >> Much confidence and hubris. >> Speaker 2: Remember, he had to win in two-on-one handicap match
against the Hard Dynasty inside a steel cage this past Monday on Raw just
to get into this match tonight. [MUSIC] >> Speaker 4: There is the leader of
The Nexus in his freshman endeavor into the Championship realm. From Manchester in the UK,
the British Commonwealth, Bare Knuckles Champion,
right now walking into the Fire. >> Speaker 2: King, are the winds
of change blowing in the WWE like Wade Barrett told us earlier tonight? >> Speaker 3: Well, I don’t doubt that. I mean, youth must be served and there’s always that air
of newness about the WWE. But I don’t think that Wade Barrett can
look to that as an ally in this match tonight because he’s got too many enemies. >> Speaker 4: Let’s not forget
it’s elimination style. So Wade Barrett has to be careful that
his impetuosity doesn’t allow him to get caught early and eliminated. Well, Wade Barrett along with Nexus,
he made a lot of enemies and [INAUDIBLE]. >> Speaker 4: Wow, [INAUDIBLE]. [MUSIC] >> Speaker 2: Coming into
the Six Pack Challenge tonight, there has been no one that has
been hotter than this man. The WWE’s apex predator, Randy Orton. [MUSIC] He is on the roll of his career. >> Multi-time WWE Champion. Let’s not forget, this city of Chicago
played a host to a very interesting title controversy in 2007 between
Randy Orton and Triple H. You have to wonder, is there an air
of history and confidence for Randy Orton in this city? >> Speaker 3: I tell you what
I found interesting early on. Every one of these superstars in
this match had some words to say about what they expected to do here
tonight, except Randy Orton, he had none. Because I could tell from
the look on his face that tonight Orton is gonna let his actions speak,
not his words. [MUSIC] >> Speaker 4: King, strategy for this Six Pack Elimination Challenge
after the ring announcement, please. >> Speaker 1: Introducing the challengers. First, from West Newberry, Massachusetts, weighing 240 pounds, John Cena. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> Speaker 1: Introducing next, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing 241 pounds, is the rated R superstar, Edge. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> Introducing next, from Winnipeg, Manitoba County. Canada, weighing 226 pounds, Chris Jericho. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> Speaker 1: From Manchester, England, weighing 260 pounds,
Wade Barrett. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 1: And from St. Louis, Missouri, weighing 245 pounds, Randy Orton. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> Speaker 1: And from Dublin, Ireland, weighing 272 pounds, he is the current WWE Champion, the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus. >> Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, to put this main event here
tonight into perspective, the men in this match have a combined
32 world championship reigns, 32. >> King, what is the strategy for
such a perilous contest? >> Speaker 4: Well, I know this is
gonna sound oversimplified, but it is simply avoid elimination. And by that I mean when you talk about
having five opponents rather than one and possible alliances and that sort of thing,
that is gonna be all you’re going to be able to think,
about avoid being eliminated. [SOUND]
>> Speaker 2: Here we go, ladies and gentlemen, the rules of
the Six-Pack Challenge. All the men will be in the ring
at one time, pinfall or submission will force an elimination. The last man standing is WWE Champion. >> Speaker 2: Matt, what about you, what do you think the strategy
is in this title match? And Barrett goes shoulder
first to the post. >> Speaker 3: Well, for Chris Jericho
it’s gonna be his mental advantage. For Randy Orton, it’s gonna be his
momentum and his cold-blooded nature. For Edge, it’ll be taking advantage
of opportunity, for John Cena, it’ll be his power, for Wade Barrett,
it’ll be his confidence. And for Sheamus, it will be that
air of championship arrogance. >> Speaker 2: And John Cena [INAUDIBLE]
that first Jericho into the cover, hook of a leg on Orton,
two count, and a kick out. It’s about the prestigious
WWE Championship, the greatest title in
the history of this industry. Formed in 1963,
the first champion, Buddy Rogers. >> Nature Boy, the Hall of Famer. >> Speaker 2: And over the years, the
likes of Bruno and Superstar and Hulk and Andre and HBK and Triple H,
and The Rock, and Austin have made this
title the greatest ever. >> Speaker 4: Look at this face-off. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: John Cena pounding away on Jericho. Think about the rivalry these
two have had in the past. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: So much history between all
the men in this matchup. >> Look out. >> Speaker 2: And
a nice running bulldog by Cena. Randy Orton [INAUDIBLE] RKO. Orton, cover, hooks the leg,
goodbye Jericho. >> Speaker 2: What? >> Speaker 2: We are down to five. >> Speaker 2: You gotta be kidding me. He was my pick. >> Speaker 3: I’ve never seen
such confidence deflated. It’s almost like there’s a pen put
into a balloon with Chris Jericho. >> Speaker 2: John Cena even looking at
the referee and saying, that was three? >> Speaker 3: Chris Jericho swore
he would eliminate everybody, and now, less than five minutes into
this contest, Chris Jericho is gone. >> Speaker 4: You can’t believe it,
I can’t either. [NOISE] >> Speaker 4: Jericho’s gotta
make that walk of shame. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 4: The first man unceremoniously eliminated from this
big Six-Pack Elimination match. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: He’s in shock. >> Speaker 4: I can’t believe it. >> Speaker 3: WWE title brings
an opportunity [INAUDIBLE] prestige. Basically you’re thrust into greatness,
and that has been pulled
away from Chris Jericho. >> Speaker 4: You see that
look on the face of Edge. >> Speaker 4: Edge shocked as well. >> Yeah, you can’t help but
believe that somewhere Edge and Jericho are planning some sort
of alliance in this match. That’s out the window now. >> We are down to five. Jericho eliminated off the RKO by Orton. Almost a reset here in this matchup
as Jericho makes the lonely walk back to the locker room. >> Speaker 3: Let me ask you something,
King. Does Chris Jericho’s elimination
favor one superstar in particular? >> Speaker 4: I don’t know, but I think it hurts Edge’s chances
more than it favors anyone else’s. >> Speaker 3: How come? >> Speaker 4: Well, I just think
that Edge and Jericho, I mean, just look at their history, I think they
would have worked together in this match. They could have eliminated as
many opponents as they could. I would imagine they would have liked
to head it down to just those two. >> Speaker 3: Michael, does this pause
in the action serve as an advantage or disadvantage for these competitors? >> Speaker 2: I’ll tell you why
there’s a pause, people are shocked. >> Speaker 4: Have you got
a handkerchief on you? >> Speaker 2: Shocked over the fact
that Chris Jericho was eliminated. Even the five Superstars in the ring could
not believe that Jericho was eliminated so quickly. >> Speaker 4: And they cry as well. >> Speaker 2: And look at Wade Barrett, certainly on the outside looking
in to this type of situation. >> Right now Wade Barrett is
in the inside looking out. >> Speaker 4: This is what
I talked about earlier. >> Speaker 2: And
here ganging up on Wade Barrett. And think about what Barrett has done to
all these men in his Nexus group over the past few months. >> Speaker 4: Every single one of these
superstars have suffered a beatdown at the hands of Nexus just like Wade Barrett. And there is Barrett. And look at this. >> Speaker 3: It’s like a virus
that is hosted by the WWE. >> Speaker 2: How can you not
be excited for this main event? It is electric tonight in Chicago. The greatest superstars in
WWE history in the ring here. >> Speaker 2: Whoa, look at this. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: Thunderous. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: And Wade Barrett spoils the party. >> Speaker 4: Wade Barrett. [NOISE] >> He is just oozing with confidence. Earlier on Sheamus said he
wasn’t concerned at all. >> Speaker 1: There’s a miss. >> Speaker 2: John Cena firing
back with the right hand. >> Speaker 1: Cena’s trying to lose some
of that confidence out of Sheamus, but it didn’t work. >> Speaker 2: Another
high elbow by Sheamus. Five men remain in this
Six-Pack Challenge. >> Speaker 3: And it would be rude of
Sheamus to try to eliminate John Cena because if anyone has the resiliency and
the tenacity, it’s John Cena. He’s almost impenetrable,
I can’t believe Jericho’s gone. >> Speaker 2: Eliminated in
the first couple of minutes of this matchup by an Orton RKO. Sheamus has been dominant since. >> [APPLAUSE]. >> Wow. >> Look at this. >> Uh-oh. >> Speaker 2: Cena
perched on the top rope. Sheamus could be going for
that finishing maneuver, the High Cross,
looking to put John Cena away. Sheamus the man, remember,
for all intents and purposes, has ended the career of Triple H. Just a barbaric individual. Now it’s Cena. Somehow staying in it. John Cena, going up to the top rope,
looking to deliver that high leg. >> Speaker 2: Looking at Edge. >> From behind. >> Wow. >> Speaker 2: And Cena got caught. You notice how his foot got
caught on the top rope? >> Yeah. >> Speaker 1: That’ll. >> Well, he messed his knee up. >> Speaker 2: Yeah, grabbing his knee. >> [CROSSTALK]
>> Speaker 2: I was gonna say a pair of hamstring but? >> Let’s not forget that John likes
to employ the STF Submission. >> Speaker 2: Yeah and without a knee,
he can’t use his power, especially for the AA. >> Speaker 2: See John Cena grimacing
in pain as Edge grabbed the bad knee. Now, Sheamus and Edge, another
strange alliance that’s been formed. >> Speaker 2: You can usually
twist a ligament in the knee and you fall off quickly. >> Speaker 1: Boy. >> Speaker 2: Well bad news,
bad, bad news for John Cena. >> Speaker 1: Here’s one of
those alliances, Edge and Sheamus working in tandem. John Cena. >> What a massive Superplex from
the top rope, spine-jarring. >> Speaker 1: That’s it. >> Speaker 2: Edge crawls for the cover,
he may be the one to put Cena away. >> Speaker 2: Hook of the leg. >> Two count. >> Speaker 2: You saw Sheamus looking on. There was no reason for Sheamus to
break up that three-count there. >> No,
this is not like a triple threat match. >> Speaker 2: Elimination rules,
pinfalls or submission, the only way you’re eliminated. >> Speaker 1: You don’t wanna see any of
your opponents eliminated by anybody. >> Speaker 1: Wade Barrett is
trying to get to his feet, but he’s stopped by Sheamus and Edge, and no. >> Head first. >> And Wade Barrett, Sheamus and Edge,
working as a very effective unit here. You caught a glimpse on the right side of
your camera at a fallen Randy Orton, and that’s where Edge and
Sheamus are now turning their attention. [NOISE]. >> Speaker 3: Well, again, you’ll notice
which superstars are being targeted. Arguably the two most lethal superstars,
Randy Orton and John Cena, some would say. >> Speaker 1: And this could be the most
lethal combination that has formed as allies here. Edge and Sheamus, they put down Cena,
now they’re putting down Barrett, and now working on Orton. >> Speaker 2: And the thing is,
this alliance, it behooves. Edge and they’re gonna cover,
hook of the leg now, and Orton center of the ring, kick out. It behoove Seamus and
Edge to continue to work together. >> Speaker 2: Sure? >> If they can eliminate the other
individuals, the other three. Now it’s down to two guys,
one on one, mano a mano. >> Speaker 1: I had envisioned early
on that this would be Edge and Jericho working together like this. >> Speaker 2: What did
Edge call himself earlier? The ultimate opportunist. Again, taking advantage of an opportunity. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: Matt, you’re sitting back taking this all in. What do you make of it? >> Speaker 3: I’m just watching Edge and Sheamus systematically
dissect their opponents. >> Speaker 1: Yeah, you can’t deny
that this very, very sound strategy. >> Speaker 2: A little wasted most, you
see Edge went all the way around the other side of the ring,
took a little cheap shot on Cena. Now a cover on Orton again by Sheamus and
a kick out. >> Speaker 1: That’s the only thing I
would suggest that they start doing. Try to get a pinfall, I’d try to get
Wade Barrett, he’s in bad shape out here. I’d try to get Wade Barrett in and
see if you can get a cover on him. >> Speaker 3: If you’re looking for
deficiencies, Wade Barrett, like I said, has never had this opportunity,
Freshman Championship endeavor. So that is almost,
like I said, a disadvantage. >> Speaker 2: Wow,
catapulting Edge is Sheamus. >> Speaker 3: John Cena’s power and
Randy Orton’s momentum make John and Randy a distinct threat. >> Speaker 1: Cena’s still lying
on the floor over there as well. You can’t give him too long to recuperate. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 1: There’s John. >> Speaker 1: John had banged up see
earlier, huge Superplex off the top rope. [NOISE]
>> Right now if you’re Randy Orton, this is the worst nightmare,
these two guys working together as one. >> Slingshot again and Randy Orton,
see how he folded his chest out. Orton trying to change
gears into that zone. Scoop Slam, and Randy Orton,
runs into a big Axe Handle. >> Speaker 4: How often do we see Randy
Orton just completely ascend in momentum? Sheamus wise to cut Randy Orton down. >> Speaker 1: That’s the problem
in this type of matchup, all men in the ring at the same time. There’s so much traffic,
you can’t turn your back, and on anybody. >> Speaker 2: Watch it. >> Speaker 1: And
Wade Barrett knocked off the apron, just can’t seem to get back in this. Now it’s Edge’s turn, Edge and
Sheamus alliance has gone away. Now they’ve turned their
attention to each other. >> Speaker 2: Well, that’s good if you’re
John Cena, Randy Orton, or Wade Barrett. >> Speaker 3: Uh-oh.
[NOISE] >> Speaker 2: Smell a Spear? >> Speaker 1: I think it may be coming. >> Speaker 1: [LAUGH] I think that-
>> Sheamus has no clue. >> Speaker 1: I think it’s, no. >> Edge went for Spear,
Sheamus with a side step, planting Edge,
the Irish Curse Backbreaker. [NOISE]
>> We’re talking about everybody in this matchup, Matt,
that’s so resilient, how about Sheamus? Guy keeps coming at you, he does not stop. >> Speaker 4: Well, it’s admirable. With the championship advantage
negated by the Six-Pack rules, Sheamus is trying to take his
destiny into his own hands. >> Speaker 2: As much as I don’t like him,
Sheamus is my pick in this match. >> Speaker 1: I’m with you, King. >> Speaker 4: How come, why? >> Speaker 1: He’s on a roll,
he’s been on a major roll. >> Speaker 2: Well,
because Jericho got eliminated. >> Speaker 2: Eliminated [CROSSTALK]. >> Speaker 3: Spear! >> Look at Orton,
look at Orton, look at Orton. >> Speaker 3: Went for
the RKO, John Cena AA time. >> Speaker 3: And a Spear to Orton. Pace has picked up, Edge. >> Speaker 1: John Cena, another counter. >> Speaker 3: AA connecting, Cena, cover,
hook to the leg, see you later, Edge. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> We are down to four. >> Speaker 2: Watch it, Wade Barrett. >> Barrett, Cena, Orton, Sheamus. >> Speaker 4: This is huge
now with the elimination of the Ultimate Opportunist, Edge. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: And a rested Wade Barrett now on the attack. >> Speaker 1: And Wade Barrett has shown
over the past number of weeks that he can get it done on his own, individually. >> Speaker 4: But we’re also left
with a leader of men, Wade Barrett, a granite powerhouse in John Cena,
a cunning and conniving superstar, Randy Orton, and
the WWE Champion, Sheamus. >> Speaker 1: A little bit of look at the
bare-knuckle style of Wade Barrett that Matt touched on earlier. Bare Knuckle Champions throughout Europe. Wade Barrett looking to win his
first major championship in the WWE. >> Speaker 2: No. >> Speaker 3: And Wade Barrett looking for
some wasteland, and John Cena counters. >> Speaker 3: Hey! >> Barrett’s turn, and
look at Barrett, that tall, lanky body allowing him to shift
balance and work his way out of the AA. >> Speaker 2: DDT delivered on Cena. >> Speaker 1: And look out, can he put
him away, can Barrett eliminate Cena? >> Speaker 3: One, two. >> Speaker 3: Hook of the leg. >> Speaker 3: A two count kickout. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: Cena’s absolutely amazing. >> Speaker 4: A lot of people have
likened John Cena to Superman. It seems like nothing hurts John. >> Speaker 1: He looks hurt now. >> Speaker 2: Yeah,
there’s some kryptonite out there lurking. >> Speaker 2: [LAUGH] Wade Barrett now
suddenly in control of this match, his time to shine. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 3: Ooh, wow, not. >> Speaker 1: In that bare-knuckle
style juking and jiving. John Cena, though, Flying Shoulder Tackle,
this is vintage Cena. Cena picking up the pace. Wade Barrett going for
a ride, and it’s time. >> Speaker 3: [LAUGH]
>> [APPLAUSE] >> Speaker 2: Hello, Mr. Wade Barrett, you can’t see me, but you’re about to feel a little Five
Knuckle Shuffle, I got a feeling, yes. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> Now Cena measuring Barrett. AA time for Wade Barrett, Sheamus. >> Nice, a meeting of the minds. >> Speaker 3: Look at drop toehold,
[CROSSTALK] Cena. >> Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, he’s got him. >> Speaker 3: Can he get him here? STF locked in, STF’s locked in. >> Speaker 3: No, no, no.
>> No, it isn’t. Well, smart move, Cena dragging Sheamus
back to the middle, away from the ropes. Back into the STF, champ’s in trouble. Will he tap, will he tap,
will the champ tap? >> Speaker 4: Michael, to my recollection,
no one has ever been drug back to the middle of the ring in the STF and
not tapped out. >> Speaker 3: Well,
Sheamus trying to somehow- >> Speaker 2: And it doesn’t look like there’s anyone to help him. >> Drag his body and Cena’s body to
the bottom rope to force a break here. Sheamus fingertips away,
champ’s in trouble, is he gonna tap out? Cena’s got it locked in. >> Speaker 3: No, he touched the rope. >> Speaker 3: He touched the rope,
but he’s gotta grab it, and he does. >> Speaker 4: You wonder if
John Cena’s knee came into play and the STF was less effective. Normally we’d see a tap out here. >> Speaker 1: I think Sheamus
just powered his way out of it. >> Speaker 2: Well,
he certainly dodged a bullet there, right? [NOISE]
>> Speaker 1: No, what a shock, Nexus, Gabriel, Slater, Otunga, Tarver. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 4: Michael, can you remind us what
the Nexus is [CROSSTALK]. >> Hey, hey, hey, Wade Barrett. >> Look at this, Wade Barrett,
Wasteland, Wasteland by Barrett. Cover, hook of the leg,
Cena’s been eliminated. >> Speaker 3: What?
>> Barrett and Nexus do it again. Barrett has eliminated Cena. >> Speaker 4: That’s gotta feel good for
Wade Barrett. >> Speaker 2: That’s
the understatement of the year. >> Speaker 3: And now, like feral dogs,
Nexus assaulting, is that Orton? >> Speaker 4: Yeah, that’s Randy Orton,
and Nexus almost softening up the remaining competitors-
>> Speaker 3: And remember, folks- >> For their leader, Wade Barrett. >> Let’s remind everybody, disqualification’s not in
effect in this matchup. >> Speaker 3: No, it is not. >> Pinfall, submission,
only way you can eliminate somebody. Randy Orton is fresh
meat tossed to Barrett. Nexus has done damage,
Barrett capitalized eliminating Cena. What a coup this would be for Barrett. [NOISE] >> Speaker 2: I think Orton is just now realizing what the situation is and
how bleak things look. Nexus still around the ring. >> Speaker 3: Look at Barrett, the ring
leader, calling Nexus up on the apron. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: Orton’s surrounded here. >> Speaker 4: John Cena.
>> Speaker 4: Look at Cena, whoa. >> Cena taking out his aggression-
>> My God. >> On the Nexus.
>> And an RKO. >> The Nexus cost John Cena
a championship opportunity here. >> RKO Slater. >> Speaker 2: Watch him, watch your back. >> Wade Barrett looking to put away Orton. Elbow, Orton, Backbreaker. The Viper is coiled,
The Viper is ready to strike. >> Speaker 3: My God. [NOISE]
>> Speaker 2: Wade Barrett- [NOISE]
>> Meet The Viper. >> Speaker 3: Randy Orton is on fire. >> One, two, three. >> [APPLAUSE]
>> Barrett eliminated. >> Speaker 4: We are down to two. >> Sheamus. >> Speaker 2: There’s Sheamus. >> Speaker 3: The last two remaining
men in this matchup for the WWE title. Next pinfall, next submission,
we crown a champion. >> Speaker 2: Watch it, you can tell
Sheamus’ setting up for that Brogue Kick, he got it. >> Brogue Kick to Orton,
Sheamus has downed Orton. The cover, he’s gonna win it. >> Speaker 3: Kicked out.
>> What, what? [APPLAUSE]
>> Randy Orton, instinct alone,
kicked out of the Brogue Kick. >> Speaker 4: Randy Orton,
a third-generation superstar. >> Speaker 3: Look at this. >> Speaker 3: Sheamus went for
a High Cross, RKO, Randy. >> You got it. >> Cover.
>> You got it. >> Speaker 3: He did it, he did it, Randy Orton is seven-time a champion. >> The winner of this match and new WWE Champion, Randy Orton. >> Speaker 3: Let the celebration begin,
a conclusive victory for Orton. Randy Orton survived five men and
Nexus to win the WWE title. >> Speaker 2: What a match. >> Speaker 4: What a long hard
journey it’s been for Randy Orton. And the fruits of his labor evident, being the new WWE Champion,
congratulations, Randy Orton. >> Speaker 3: A goosebumps-filled ending
to a heck of a main event here tonight. >> Speaker 4: I pose this question,
what does this mean for Hell in a Cell in two weeks? >> Speaker 3: What a night for
Randy Orton. [MUSIC] >> Speaker 3: What a match,
what a match here tonight. >> Speaker 2: It was awesome. [MUSIC]
