Victor Perez scored a hole-in-one one the second day of the U.S. Open at Oakmont, acing the 192-yard par-3 6th with a 7-iron.
In the 10 times the notoriously difficult course has hosted the major, there has been only one other hole-in-one, by Scott Simpson in 1983.
In an interview after the round, the 32-year-old Frenchman said it’s his 9th hole-in-one and his third THIS MONTH.
Perez said his most recent two both came at his home course in the Bahamas while he was playing by himself and joked that now people might believe him.
Victor, currently 99th the Official World Golf Ranking, had climbed to No. 40 and qualified for the Masters in 2020 when covid interrupted his momentum.
At the 2024 Olympics in his home country, Victor shot an 8‑under 63 on the final day to finish one stroke shy of bronze.
Perez finished finished even on the day and 1 over and will make his first U.S. Open cut after missing in his previous five attempts.
The hole-in-come came one day after Patrick Reed scored the fourth albatross in U.S. Open history, draining his 286-yard second shot on the par-5 4th.
