Exciting News – Diamond-Tunes Infinite Energy

Welcome back to the High Line Podcast. Hit that button. Yeah, let’s go. You can’t do that.
I can’t get it right.
Shut the up and let me talk.
I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
You’re only young, but you’re going to die. Proceed to party. Oh, are you ready? Rally.
What did he say? Go Tigers.
That’s incorrect.
Go Cox. I think that might be the best one we’ve ever done. That was good. I like that. [Music] Yo, for the dogs dim them, you know. Look, mama hit my phone say Atlanta’s no good. Better hurt than telling me the check’s no good. Now they want to act like I do no good. Funny cuz I really did more than I should. Chase made a decision Saturday night that he would die for it. [Laughter] Just to show the [ __ ] [ __ ] shitty the city what it takes to be alive for it. Can’t get me on the line so they hate me at the drive for it. You know Brad wants peace, but I’m down to cut ties for it.
Worse, that’s not the song.
Is it not?
No.
Oh, and I can’t sleep these days unless I win one.
Oh, that’s right. If they don’t have a story these days, they’ll make one.
Jesus Christ. Life is always on, man. I never get a break from it. Doesn’t matter where I go, I can never get away from it. It takes a break.
I’m trying to figure out what the name of this song is.
They give me loyalty and I ain’t got to pay for it. Same way bread’s got to break for it.
Is this nine? Keeping people fed in my only piece of mine now. You [ __ ] me up. Now I turn the six upside down. It’s a nine now. I know Chase made a decision started nothing he would die for it. Go nine and [ __ ] Brad Kazalowski. Man, that is actually the perfect song. Yes,
but it was so bad.
What wrong with it?
You I did not. I did. All right.
I know
that. He doesn’t say I know.
I know.
You don’t even know the song. He thought it was worse behavior.
It sounds like worst behavior.
It kind of does. But no, Chase made a decision Saturday night and he broke ties with Brad. Not like they had a tie at the beginning, but kind of made sense cuz Chase Elliot has won yet again at Eco Park Speedway. Yeah. Won yet again. Had won a race in 44 races. Him and Brad have the same. That’s his second. That’s his second win there.
He should have won that one either. The first one or the second one. Oh, okay then.
Come on, Cory. Yeah. Yeah. What about Cory Saturday? He was in that big one.
He was. So was everyone else.
Oh man, what a great time to be alive. Um speaking for myself, not for Mr. Whiny Crybaby over here. Existence is pain. Turn a six upside down. It’s a nine now. That’s who was almost in victory lane. Should have been.
Turn a six upside down though. Thanks. Thank you very much, Alex. I do appreciate it. Well, yeah,
we do appreciate it.
Rather be lucky than good, that’s for sure.
Okay. Probably had the best car after all that wreck. Yeah, probably. Brad had a good car, too. I think you were one and two.
Like I said, I wasn’t mad at it
on old tires.
I ain’t mad at it. I didn’t lose no sleep, obviously.
Did you get any sleep?
It’s hard to lose sleep if you don’t get any. Yeah, I know I didn’t, but I didn’t lose any. But no, it was uh it was disappointing. obviously wanted Brad to win, but Chase won it fair and square. So, I mean, it is what it is. At least Brad didn’t get disqualified like the last Rous car that finished second. So, um Well, actually, not the last.
I’m about to say Chris finished second in Michigan.
Michigan, but um
your boys have been close, but no cigar this year. It’s uh story of my life, you know. Short when it comes up, short when it when it matters most. Yeah, just coming up a little short, but no, it’s um it’s just been one of those years, you know, it was like that for a while.
Hey, at least they have speed now again. Yeah, that’s true. But um it’s been it was that way for a while before they started winning. Um first year Brad came over, a lot of second place finishes out of that team.
Not out not out of the six. Out of the Rous.
Yeah. 17 a couple times. One at Bristol, though. Yeah, I think Brad finished second somewhere, I thought.
I’m sure he did, but that year itself was awful for him. First year. Um, but anyways, and then he finished second a bunch the year after.
Yeah, for sure. Him and Chris both kind of did. Well, but anyways, um, disappointing. Brad needed to win the race playoffs. He only got one shot realistically. Um,
you remember though a couple years ago at Daytona
when Chris won which I wasn’t I was I was a little upset just
I picked to win that race.
Yeah, I know. But you know I needed Chase Elliot to win that race at Daytona.
You were pissed.
I was mad because and I liked Chris. I mean I was when I started being a Chris fan but I was like man [ __ ] Chase need that win way more. You’re like ah whatever still Chris you know you should be happy. Although you don’t cheer for Chase Elliot, but it kind of felt like the same thing. Like Brad needed that win more than Chase did. But a win’s a win. Yeah. I mean, like I said, I ain’t mad at Chase for winning the race. It’s his job.
Yeah.
Um
and Cole went in with the uh
the uh what what was uh the kid’s name? Why’d you have to ask me?
I No,
no, it wasn’t Maline.
It was Railen.
Railen went in for her, which was awesome. She designed the car. They do that every year for with Chase and the
um it’s a cool little thing, but Chase never done hardly anything in those paint schemes over the past nine years. He’s always brand pretty average or worse, gets wrecked, stuff like that a lot of times, but it’s the first time he’s able to do good and win a race for for Railen. I’m sure that’s something she’ll never forget. Um
yeah,
it was cool to see that.
Well, yeah, he’s uh not a very good race car driver. That’s why he doesn’t run very well in those cars very often. But um he was good enough on Saturday night. That’s for sure.
Salty. I’ve been saying this all year.
What? That Chase is not good.
He’s only second in points now. Points don’t matter.
I thought that’s what you cared about the most.
But they don’t. They do.
The only He’s only second in points because he’s got like 400 stage points. No, he’s got like 400 eighth place finishes. He hadn’t got a lot of stage point this year. Anyways, I forgot to flip my hat over when I said six to a nine. Now, let me flip this over now. 62 and nine. You got
I can’t even see it. Well, sucks for you. Anyway, Atlanta, um, obviously Chase Elliot won. Oh [ __ ] that’s right. I forgot. Since I’m not a Chase Elliot fan, it didn’t even cross my mind. Well, since Chase Elliot won, that means for the second time this year, there will be a shotgun in this garage. I mean, yeah. Uh,
both times from I’ve done it three times now. You ain’t done it once.
Have you done it three times this year?
Chase went in the clash.
No, that’s right. Blay winning in Nashville.
I forgot the Clash.
Now, I just need Chris to get her done and I’d be happy.
I’m kind of glad Chris didn’t win or Brad didn’t win because I don’t want to shotgun a beer today. Why? Cuz you a [ __ ] [ __ ] Oh, we know that ain’t the truth. Um, I just kind of feel like [ __ ] to be honest with you.
I look like that. I feel like [ __ ] too. All right. Commentary, please. Here we go again with Trent Davis attempting to poke a hole in this beer can. He’s going to make it either too small or too big.
One of the
He’s really bad at doing this.
I am for some reason. He has never been good at it. You can drink though.
He is getting better at the actual chugging of the beer portion.
Well, do you want to pop mine from now on?
No.
You never pop mine.
Ow.
Cuz you’re such a good person. I am. That’s something to be proud of. Is it being good at
the hole is being fingered? All right,
he’s ready. Am I Are you sure?
Let’s get a countdown going.
78 76 Go by twos.
156
million 155 till the day of cows come on.
Isn’t this episode 156?
Four.
Ah, damn.
Right. I think so.
I don’t know. Maybe it might be. Anyways, 3, two, one, go.
We’re not doing that.
You ain’t done yet.
We’re not doing that for Chase Elliot went in at Atlanta. This is for you, Chase. This is for all the Chase Elliot fans have heard me [ __ ] all year. And I still do have gripes, but
I hope his trailer comes uncoupled from the truck on the way to the track this weekend and they lose both his
It’s not a track. It’s a street course. So, you don’t need it. He’ll run out there. All right, I’m ready.
Three. Duh. Going very slowly here. Grew a mustache while waiting for Trent to finish. That might have been my best one.
That was pretty good. Um, one of these days Chris will win so we can do it together and oria.
Again, you can if you want to jump the jump jump to the Chase Elliot bandwagon team, we’re we we’ll take you. Man,
I’m never going to do that. And the reason I’m never going to do that is um I will never root for a nepo baby. So, um somebody got their ride because of their name. Can’t root for them.
So, an RFK No. Uh
who?
Brad doesn’t have a son, does he? You have daughters?
Nope. Didn’t he just have a son? He might be having a son.
I think he has a son.
I think his wife’s pregnant. I don’t think I don’t know.
He’s got like four of them. Boy, busy. He ain’t good at racing cars, but he is good at one thing.
Oh, yeah. He’s got as many ch championships as Chase. And I think more wins. So,
yeah, he’s been racing in the cup series 20 years more.
Been there for like six years longer, but all right. It really isn’t that much longer.
It is six years. I mean, six years. Oh, that’s only what 6 time 36. How many races is that? It’s a lot of [ __ ] races. 190 something.
Oh yeah. Yeah. 190 races got a edge on them.
What you know about edge?
A lot day.
Woo. Go nine.
Dude’s a [ __ ]
Summertime’s the best time to do that cuz it’s hot as [ __ ] and it cools me down.
It’s really hot in here. Um I don’t know if I’ve ever worn this shirt on the podcast.
What is it?
Repping Joey Gase. Oh,
Infinity shirt from 2017, I think. That’s why it’s a little small. Gained some weight since then.
Fat ass. Like uh 30 lbs. So, uh
you’re buying from the kids section still at that.
Oh, he gave me this.
Oh, did he?
Yeah. I was uh walking into Darlington. I think it was 201
18.
2018.
Had to be cuz I don’t It was the year that Brad won it.
Yeah. Um I was walking in. He’s driving around on his go-kart throwing them to people outside. Oh, nice.
And I got one. And uh I don’t think I’ve ever worn it. So, it’s very small.
So, if Joey Gase wins, is he even still racing NASCAR?
I know he owns the team, don’t he?
Yeah, he owns that Joey Gase Racing.
Yeah, Joey Gase Racing the in the Xfinity series. 52 or something.
Yeah. But anyways, um obviously it was Atlanta this weekend. Chase Elliot won. Uh Brad Keslowski finished second. Uh, Alex Bowman third, Ricky Stinhouse.
No, he hit the wall off fourth. Sixth,
Tyler fourth,
Tyler fourth, and uh, um,
somebody finished fifth.
Who the hell was it? Um,
what the hell? Eric.
Eric Jones.
Yeah.
Um, damn. Uh,
let’s talk about our uh,
Chris finished ninth.
Ninth. Yeah. pretty like 15th, right?
Yeah.
Me for Blany, Chris Knight for me. And then Bly of course gets right hooked into the damn fence like he always does with these tracks. He’s he’s has the worst luck with those things. Um, but the last 10 laps, us watching it at your house, that was some of the most I thought it sucked. int I think it was the most intense racing that me and you have watched especially with both of our guys being up there um and the last couple laps were insane uh to say the bit cuz Brad lost the lead foot to like fifth or sixth.
Yeah. Then got it back.
Then got it back and then um Chase did the same. never got the lead late, but he until the last lap, but he uh he worked his way back from like eighth or ninth, fell back there with Chris, worked his way back up to the to the to the front pack with a couple to go. So, it was just a a wild range of emotions between the both of us coming to the white. Uh Chase had cleared um Reic uh coming off a two coming to the white flag and then Bowman cleared Reic off of four which led to two of the Hendrick guys being together. Not by plan, just by coincidence I think cuz they had they had let each other hang hung each other out to dry multiple times during that last run. It worked out for him. And I said, “You’re in trouble, buddy, coming to the white.” Cuz I had Bowman behind Chase and I’m like, “Bowman ain’t going to help Brad here.” Um, and you said, “Oh, fuck.” What else did you say before they went into one? You said something else, didn’t you? I don’t remember. Um, yeah, I said something about you needed Chris. I needed Chris to be up there or something cuz
I knew I can’t remember how cuz Chris was up there for quite a while in that last that run. But um once those new those guys that had pitted on that last caution rougher tires kind of made their way back up through there um Chris just didn’t have the grip to stay up there with Brad. Brad’s car was a little bit better than Chris’s, I think, at that point in the day. Uh especially with the clean air. Um, and you know, Chris couldn’t just just couldn’t stay with him. Uh, and uh, once once he lost his teammate, the only other Ford up there was a 38. Um, which you know,
which Zayn made some good.
He did. He did. But you can’t you can’t trust that guy to help you, right? Um, nor should you, you know, trust that guy to help you, nor should he help you. You know, he’s got a job to do just like you do. So, um, Chris being there, being the the tail gunner would have helped Brad out a lot. He said that in his interview. You know, I think he asked, you know, what would have made the difference and he said, you know, we just didn’t have a teammate up there. And, um, I don’t think that takes anything away from what Chase did or, you know, whatever. But, um, that that is what it came down to is just, you know, Chase had help and Brad didn’t. Uh cuz if I think I think if if that was um really any other car other than a Chase Elliot teammate, he they bump draft Brad down the back
down the backstretch slingshot him into off going
and Brad’s got a shot at it and you know it just kind of brings all three of them back together but obviously the 48 wasn’t going to do that and didn’t. So um I still think I still think Chase wins. um if if Brad gets the bump draft there, but um obviously no need to make it close. Um so yeah, disappointing, but like you said, amazing racing towards the end. I couldn’t even be mad at it really. I mean, I was disappointed. I wanted Brad to win obviously, but it was
that hat says otherwise.
It was It was such I did I threw it down in disappointment, but then you know that was it.
More disappointing than angry.
Yeah. And uh well I threw my hat in celebration. Yeah. So um you know really really good race. Um really good racing throughout the day really. Um they they battled as they always do at Atlanta uh from start to finish. The green flag was out. They were racing and racing hard. No fuel save, no tire save, no ride around and coast. Uh and uh that makes for an interesting show. Obviously half the field wishes they would have rode around a little bit during the second stage uh with the big one taking out 70% of the field.
Big big one.
Um but yeah, I mean that’s what makes Atlanta Atlanta these days is that it’s just it’s chaos in a good way uh from start to finish. There’s always something going on. Nobody’s safe. If you got a good car, you can drive up through there. Carson Hosar did it 47 times. It felt like Saturday. Back to front, back to front, back to front. uh priest drove his way up through there. Brad um you know didn’t have the greatest starting position. Uh lot of lot of good guys. Uh came from the back several time. B Brad was in the big one. Um Priest was in it and uh or were they in the other wreck?
No, they were in the big one.
Uh
Brad got minimal damage. He had been out. Priest got quite a bit of damage and you know even he was up running third at certain point of that last stage. So, um really good racing. Um you said something at the end of the race. You said you think that might be the best race you’ve ever seen. Um I don’t know if I want to go that far, but it’s uh it was it was a really it was a really good race. like 9 9.5 9.9 out of 10. Um only thing that would have made it better was just a different name on the on the yeah marquee at the end of the night. So um really really gate gay really gate.
Yeah,
really great racing. Um really nothing else to say about it. If you didn’t watch it, go back and watch it because it was it was awesome throughout the whole night. I wish it was still going on right now. It was uh a long ass race.
Yeah, it was really good. Obviously, I loved it. Not just for the for the winner at the end of the race, but I just I never you really don’t ever get that type of on the edge action throughout the whole race anymore. Especially not TA or Daytona. You just don’t. Um they’re fuel saving for 75% of the race. They only race like towards the end of the stages and at the end of the race that last run. So, um, Atlanta is what Talladega and Daytona used to be. It’s what they should be. And, um, handling came into a big factor based off how hot it was all night. And, uh, it made these drivers uncomfortable in the cars. You know, my motto with that is make the drivers uncomfortable, you get good racing. And um you had it because you had con I mean you had Chase Elliot the winner of the race who probably had the best car especially handling car um especially after that big wreck. He complained all night about his his uh car just it was just all over the place too loose or whatever. But he was the best at at on on the inside passing cars that I saw all night. So
him or Brad.
Yeah. So it was that was great and that’s what made this race good. And I will say this on my TikTok review. I said this before Denny Hamlin said it on his podcast um that came out today. So I didn’t steal it from him. I saw I said on a Tik Tok review. I said this big that big wreck at the beginning of stage two made the rest of this race how good it it was based off that big wreck. You had space. You didn’t have 36 car, 40 cars, however many cars it was throughout the field kind of just clogging the air up and kind of killing runs and just it all being convoluted and just messy to being able to get runs on people moving way up through the field. That big wreck allowed what we saw the the rest of this race, which was arguably the best racing I’ve ever seen in my life. a leader could not hold the lead more than a couple turns it seemed like unless you had teammates with you up there at front like Brad had with Chris and Priest there for a while. Especially him and Chris. Chris did a good job blocking the run to the third place car every time for about 20 laps um during that third stage which allowed Brad to to lead all those laps. Um because if you don’t have if if Brad didn’t have Chris up there, he don’t lead all those laps. Now, he he’ll go he’ll go back and forth with people and he’ll get he’ll lead some of those laps that he led without Chris being uh behind him, but it wouldn’t be consecutive like he had with with with help. And uh and that’s another thing, too. You had that big wreck where a lot of teammates, a lot of team cars got involved, and you had a couple cars left um from each team, so you didn’t have a whole lot of help um with you that survived that big wreck. Like RFK did have three, but Priest was wounded. He’s probably 75% of what that car could actually get, maybe even less than that. You know, you had Hendrick with with Chase and Bowman, that was it. Larson didn’t get a whole lot of damage, but he was he was awful all night. Um, you think of Pinsky. Pinsky was eliminated, which they started the top three positions if you want to include Josh Barry fourth. Um, with Wood Brothers, they were the top four fastest guys in qualifying. They all got involved in that big Rex. They were done. Um Joe Gibbs racing, you had Denny, you had uh Christopher. Well, Christopher got taken out of that first wreck, but Denny and Brisco got taken out of the second wreck. So, all you had left was Tai Gibbs. 2011, you did have all three of those guys after that big wreck, but Riley Herps took himself out and Bubba uh he was involved in that wreck. He still tried to man uh get his way back up through there and then he gets back on a lead lap and then he wrecks the car again. So, it’s a lot of guy a lot of teams that just have didn’t have a whole lot of help. didn’t have a lot of teammates to to work together just every team for themselves. And that’s what made this the end of the race so great. And u obviously it worked out there at the end for Chase to be able to have a teammate behind him and Alex to to give him that that push and have that trust in Alex that he wasn’t going to throw it in there um before Chase could throw it in on Brad coming into the or going into one on that last lap. So, that definitely did help Chase win this race, but Chase did a great job all night avoiding all the wrecks because he almost got involved in that first wreck um with with with Christopher and and um and Blay and all those guys. He came very close to getting involved in that incident. So, it’s a great job all night from for chasing that nine team. He’s one he’s not the best, but I think he’s in the top six or seven of of drafting style tracks in the cup series. Um just based off his wins at Tallaladega now here at Atlanta. hadn’t got a win at Daytona yet, but he’s been close there as well. So, Chase is not the best super racer, if you want to call this drafting style track, you know, but he is definitely in the top six or seven in my opinion. He’s always up there towards the end of these races unless he gets taken out early or whatever, but uh yeah, a great win for the nine team. Uh they didn’t need as much as Brad did, but I still think this is a big boost for the nine team. Just I mean, this is his first win. I mean, he’s only won before this race, he had won one time the past two and a half years. And if you’re Rick Hendrick, if you’re Hendrickk Motorsports, if you’re the nine team, you’re expected to win way more races than one win in the past two and a half years. Now it’s two. Locked himself in the playoffs, which is good. Uh I’d like to see him do it at a non-drafting style track now because they’re building momentum. They’ve had now three straight top fives. Um at you could argue Mexico probably had the second best car to Shane Van Ginsburgen. Then Pocono had a top five car, finished fifth, and then, you know, this weekend at Atlanta wins the race. So, they’re on a good roll. If they can keep it going, that’ll that’ll help build momentum towards the playoff now they’re in it. And they’re now only 37 points behind their teammate William Byron for the regular season championship. If you don’t win a whole lot of races, that regular season championship comes in handy. And he closed he’s been closing the gap on William the past couple weeks based off how bad Williams finishes have been the past couple weeks. If you can get that, you only got to win a couple races and it kind of evens out to to your teammates with with with Larsson winning three or four times and he’ll probably win another with Denny and Christopher as well winning all those races. So big big win for Chase. Very happy for him and um let’s keep doing it. I give this race a 9.9 out of 10 just for the the nine team uh winning the race. What’s next on the docket, Riley? Well, uh, we’re going to talk about the inseason tournament. Um,
nobody’s got perfect bracket.
Nobody’s got one left. Obviously, not a good thing for me because I’m somebody. I was hoping to win it. Um, yeah, just a damn shame. So, um, pretty much the whole left side of my bracket’s wrong. Um,
well, let’s give out who won last week. So, uh, start off hot. Uh, Ty Dylan, the 30 32 seed, beat Denny Hamlin, the one seed here at Atlanta. Got a top 10. Good run for for Ty Dylan in that team. Uh, call some wrecks though with with I think he caused Justin Haley wreck and another one as well. But, um, Todd Dylan shocking the world there. I got that one wrong. Uh, Bush and Keslowski. I had Keslowski, so we’re I’m good there. Uh, Bowman and Logano. I pick Logano. Obviously, Bowman finishing third. Joey got in a big wreck. So, I got that one wrong. Uh Bowman advancing. The Suarez Wallace uh matchup. I got that one wrong as well. I had Suarez advancing. Bubba did enough uh to to advance. Nemo and Barry, I got Nemaek right uh on that one. Uh Chase Elliot and Austin Dylan. Obviously, Chase Elliot wins it because he wins the race. Uh Ross Chastain and Eric Jones. I picked Ross and I got that wrong. Eric Jones with a solid top five. Bale and Stenhouse. I picked Stenhouse and got that one right. Stin House finished six. Bale got involved in that first wreck. I got involved. He calls the first wreck. Losing losing talent there. Uh right side of the bracket, Brisco and Greggson. I picked Greggson. I got that one right. Uh Priest and Byron. I picked Byron. Got that one wrong. Priest uh beat him there. Uh Blaney and Hosavvar. I picked Blay. Got that one wrong. Hosavvar I think got a top 10 at the end of the day even being involved in that big wreck but Laney Laney finished last you could have he was screwed. Uh Reic and Larsson I picked Reic I got that one right. Uh Tyler Reic with a fourth place finish. Uh McDall and Almondinger I picked McDow. Got that right. Uh Gibbs and Haley. I picked Haley. So I got that one wrong. Ty Gibbs advances. And Zayn Smith and Austin Cynric. I picked Zayn Smith. He finished seventh. Austin Cyn got in that wreck. So I got that one right. and Chris Busher and uh Todd Gilland. I picked Chris Busher and got that one right as well. So, I got seven wrong. Seven out of the What’s that? Nine right? No. Yeah, nine right. Right. I got seven wrong. I got nine right. Yeah.
Okay. So, I went nine and seven, which ain’t too bad.
It makes the playoffs in the NFC East or something. Yeah. So, I’ll take it.
Yeah. I don’t Champion is still alive. I don’t mind too. Uh, we got the same guy. Uh, I don’t think I fared quite as good as you. I got Hamlin wrong. Uh, Brad was right. Logano was wrong. Suarez was wrong. Barry was wrong. Elliot was right. Chastain was wrong. Stenhouse was right. Brisco wrong. Priest right. Hosavvar right. Larson wrong. McDow wrong. Gibbs right. Cynric wrong. No, McDow right. Mcdow advanced.
No, he didn’t.
Yes, he did.
Bombinger advanced. Did I read that incorrectly?
Yeah, I think you did. Or maybe you
No, Bombinger definitely advanced.
Oh [ __ ] Well, I got that wrong then. My bad.
So, I was 88. 88.
[ __ ] Damn it. some reason I thought on McDow got whatever. Yeah. So I got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.
What? Seven and nine.
That would not make the playoffs. Nope.
But we still got our champion, right? So, or alive. Oh,
yeah.
Uh, however, I did have Denny make to the championship. So, that kills my left side of the bracket.
I’ve only got one alive in the left. Well,
I’m about to say
I’ve got two three I’ve got three alive in the left side, but I’ve only got one of my final four on each side alive.
I got you. But I do have my championship two are still alive.
Uh yeah, mine is mine are not with Denny, but Chris is still alive. So that’s good. So zero zero brackets remain perfect after this weekend. I think that’s why they did it here in Atlanta because they’re just figuring the chaos of Atlanta would would be nearly impossible for somebody to get all of them right because if you get through this round, it it’s not as challenging to predict. Now, you’ll probably still be very challenged and you probably not get it right throughout the next four races, but it’s a little easier to determine a winner and stuff like that uh going forward after Atlanta. So, the rounds this week, we have Ty Dylan and Brad Keslowski. This will be all all at Chicago Street Course this weekend. Ty, Brad Keslowski, you got Bowman and Bubba. You got John Hunter Neimichek and Chase Elliot. You got Eric Jones and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. You got Noah Greggson and Ryan Priest. You got Caros and Tyleric. You got AJ Almaner and Ty Gibbs. And you got Zayn Smith and Chris Booer. Uh as the second round matchups, uh Riley, let’s uh how do you want to do this? You just want to
preview them or you want to get picks or what you want to do?
I guess we’ll talk about them. We’ll get some picks. It won’t take that long. Um, so this week, um, we got Ty Dell and Brad Keslowski, um, on the left side. Uh, that’s a tossup. They both are going to suck. You know, one’s going to run 25th, one’s going to run 28. So, I mean, it’s a pick them. Um, I’ll pick Brad Keslowski just to pick them. Um, as far as the 48 and the 23 go, that’s another going to be a close call. Uh 48 won this race last year, but Bubba’s doing pretty well on road courses these days. I’m going to pick the 44 uh or the 44 the 48 on that. Uh I think Bowman will will have a better day on that. Uh especially Chicago Street Course. Uh Bubba struggled there a little bit. So uh as it comes to the 42 and the nine, obviously I’m going to pick the nine. Uh, I think he will run better than John Hunter um on any road course um or really any other track and barring wrecking. Uh Eric Jones and Ricky Stenhouse going to be a toss up between those two. Neither of those guys are um known for their road course acumen. Uh but um you know, give me Eric Jones on that one. Go to the other side, you got Chase Brisco. No, you don’t. You’ve got Noah Graggson and Ryan Priest. Kind of another one that, you know, you don’t expect a ton out of those guys. However, Ryan Priest uh did qualify second uh to Shane Van Gizburgen at the last road course and it was pretty close. Uh Priest said that he thought he had enough for the poll. Uh give me Ryan Priest uh to beat out Noah Graggs. in that one. Carson Hosvar and Tyler Reick. Give me Tyler Reick. Uh I think Reic’s kind of the obvious choice there. Hosavvar not known for his road course racing. Reic pretty good at it. Uh then you got AJ Almondinger and Tai Gibbs. I think this is going to be the most competitive uh matchup this week. Um the 16 and the 54 showing up at a road course. Either one of them could win the race to be honest with you. Uh, and uh, you know what? Give me give me Tai Gibbs on that one. And then Chris Busher and Zayn Smith. Boy, this shapes up really good for Chris Busher. Give me Chris Busher to beat out the 38. Obviously got him winning it. So, he’s got to win this round to get there. So, yeah. Yeah. So, my side, my updated bracket. Now, Ty Den and Bradlowski, I’ll take Brad. I trust him a little bit more. Chicago, I think last year he actually ran halfway decent here. Top 20, I believe. Um, I don’t remember where he finished, but it’s uh I trust Brad more here than I do Tai Dylan. So, give me Brad there. Uh, got the both these things wrong with uh Bowman and Bubba. So this this is destroyed for me. But between Bubba and Bowman, obviously Bowman won this race last year. Give me Alex Bowman to advance. Uh then this side, uh Neimichek and Chase, I got both these right. So this this side’s doing okay. Uh this portion anyway. Give me Chase Elliot to beat John Hunter. No, no disrespect John Hunter. He had a sixth place finish in Mexico, but he ain’t chased Elliot on on road horses. So um give me Chase there. And then uh Eric and Ricky. I got the Eric one wrong. I had Ross advancing, but I had Ricky right beating Bell. So, give me Eric Jones. Neither one of these guys are great at road courses, but I trust Eric Jones a little bit more than more than Ricky. And those legacy cars are on a roll uh these past couple months. They’ve had some really good speed. So, give me give me Eric Jones there. And the right side, I had Noah, right? But I had William Byron beating Priest. So, I got that one wrong. But give me Priest to beat Noah. Priest shown speed at Mexico City. Uh I just trust him. That four team is kind of in a mess right now. They ran awful in Mexico City. So I have no faith in Noah to to be able to get a good finish there. I do trust the 60 car to get a solid finish, top 15 finish at the end of the day at Chicago. So give me Priest there. Uh and then we got Reic and Hosavvar. Give me Tyler Reic, one of the best road course racers in the Cup Series against Caros who is one of the worst in the Cup series. Pretty obvious obvious pick there. As long as nothing happens to Red, I got to feel good about that one. Um, then you got AJ and Tai Gibbs. Like you said, the this is probably the best matchup of the weekend. Uh, both these guys are good at Super is good at road courses. Um, give me Tai Gibbs, though. I think uh his speed at Mexico City, he’s had speed at other road courses this year and last year. Uh, he could be a sneaker pick a sneaky pick to win this weekend at Chicago. So, I’m going to give him pick him over AJ. Uh, street courses are not AJ’s forte. Uh, he’s never he’s been solid at Chicago, but not as good as we expected him to be based off a new track and all these cup guys being kind of new to a certain road course. You you thought AJ would be better, but he hasn’t been in Chicago. So, give me Tai Gibbs there. And Zayn Smith and Chris Busher. Obviously, give me Chris Busher. Mr. Consistency on road courses. Uh, Zayn Smith, he’s not the best road course racer in the Not the worst, but I think Chris Busher, long as nothing happens to to 17, he’ll he’ll beat he’ll beat the 38 this weekend. So, um I think Do we agree on every freaking one of these? I think so. Well, that takes the drama out of rundown of yours.
Uh who’s it? Vanson.
Brad.
Brad Bowman. Bowman.
Uh
Chase.
Yeah, Chase. Eric. Uh, Priest, Reic, uh, Tai, and Chris.
Yes. Well, damn. How How could you pick [ __ ] the same as me?
Hey, sometimes you you’re just right, you know.
Yeah, clearly. But it should be entertaining matchup. Uh, entertaining how this rest of this bracket goes. It kind of does suck that a lot of the favorites got taken out at Atlanta just cuz nobody is going to I mean you’ll see the matchup between Brad and Tai but it’s going to be for 25th more than likely it’s not going to be up in the top five or top 10. Same thing with um I don’t know maybe Priest and Gregson if Priest don’t have a good of a car it going to be like for 20th you know I mean the rest of the field is kind of and then the the other part of it you got a a clearly better road course driver than the other one like a like a Chase Ellimichek like a Alex Bowman and Bubba Wallace even though Bubba’s gotten better road courses Bowman is still far better at road courses than than Bubba is in opinion. Um
I think
Reic and Hosavvar clearly reic’s going to win unless something happens. So Hosvar is bad at road
courses. I think the Bowman I think the Bowman Wallace one’s closer than a lot of people are giving it credit for. People forget that Bowman hasn’t been that good on road courses. He just happened to win this race last year. Other than that, he’s been kind of average. And Bubba’s been getting a lot better. So
he’s great at the Roal. I know it’s not the Roal, but I’m saying Bowman’s great and usually usually Bowman’s really good at
Kota.
And Bubba could just throw Gatorade on him again. Yeah, we know where Bowman finished there. He finished second in that race, did he?
Yeah, Bowman did. I don’t remember that.
That was the race when Chase drove through the turn.
Yeah. The Yeah. And then
NASCAR let him win the race.
Yeah.
How did he let Whoa. How did they let him win that race? Was
that There was one where they threw a caution for him. or didn’t throw a caution for him. Didn’t black flag him.
That was two years later. He didn’t win that race. You’re right.
Piece of [ __ ]
That was the AJ one, right?
No, that was Larson won that race. That’s a blowout.
Was that the one I was at?
No, that was 22. The one you were at was at 22. The one where Chase
the one I was at, Christopher Bell won. Okay, then AJ won 23 then. Is that right?
Yeah, I think you’re right on that one cuz Christopher almost had to win that race, I think, to advance. Anyways, we’re getting in the deep deep deep end here. Um, but yeah, so we’ll see this weekend. It kind of sucks, like I said, the the big guys getting taken out, but um I think next week after this week, I think it’ll be a little more interesting at Soma. Um, if you look at our possible match up with Soma, Brad and Bowman, I’d probably lean towards Bowman for sure. Um, Chase and Eric Jones. Okay, probably Chase. Um, then Priest and D uh, uh, Reic could be interesting. Uh, if Priest can have that speed like he has had, and Soma has never been reic’s best road course, so that could be a sneaky matchup there.
Ty Gibbs and Chris Busher.
Ty Gibbs, Chris Busher be a hell of a battle. Um, so we’ll see. We’ll see. But, uh, kind of a only, in my opinion, only one interesting matchup this weekend. That’s Tai and and AJ, I think. Uh,
but if rain comes and you get on the right side of the strategy and [ __ ] Eric Jones or uh now who’s John Horn Neimach is on the right side of the strategy over Chase Elliot and Chase blows up or his trailer falls off the truck on the way to the track.
Would you shut the hell up? Hope priest don’t even make it there. All three of your guys made it. Yep.
They’re advanced. Uh, one of my guys, Wayne’s out, but you know, Chasing Busher, still alive, so that’s good. It seemed like the drivers did care.
Yeah, a little bit.
Titan.
I AJ Almondinger and Mike Madaba had a fist fight on driver intros Saturday night.
Yeah.
I mean, the stage, it was all for fun, but you know, Jimmy had a fist bite out by the car.
Fist bite.
Fist fight.
He said fist bite.
Jimmy had a fist fight out by the car.
Did he?
Yeah.
Who’s Jimmy? I had a doctor, a lawyer, senator’s son, Brad Pitt’s brother, a man on the run. Anything I thought get the job done. I don’t know what you’re saying.
Yeah, we went out last night.
Kenny.
Yeah, Jimmy had a fist fight out.
I’m sorry. I don’t know that word that song word for word. I apologize.
Well, good for you. You can sing it next week when uh when uh Chris wins. Yeah. this weekend.
Fine with me. I’m not picking him though. But uh another guy I’m not picking is Cody Wear.
Why not? He going to be fast this weekend.
Probably be faster. Somebody else bought that team. So um I can’t remember the motherfucker’s name, but the guy that started Spire.
Well, that helped Spire get going. Then they kind of got out when Spire wanted to be more competitive.
Yeah. Sold sold his stake to make money, which is a business. It is what it is. Uh but he has bought a controlling interest in Rick Wear racing. Uh they’re going to keep the single car team for now. Uh
they want to go to three.
They want to go to three. Uh which is bad news for
bad news. Bears Roush um being that they release one of those charters for the next two years uh that Rick Wear owns and uh man they got a lawsuit going on with Legacy right now. Legacy is saying they backed out of a deal that they had. So,
for 2027, I think.
Yeah. So, um
or they said they saying it was for next year, but Rick saying it was for 2027 or something like that. I don’t remember. There’s so many damn people getting sued and lawsuits all over NASCAR, it’s hard to keep up with.
But, um yeah, I think this is uh kind of a nothing burger um as far as on track product is going to be concerned. Uh the guy says that he wants to be more competitive, build a racewinning team. H just not going to happen when you got Cody Wear driving your race cars. You know, maybe in 5 10 years when you know you, you know, build the team up a little bit, put some real race car drivers in that in that uh in that seat. Uh it’s a possibility. Um you’ll be competitive, but um got no faith that Cody Wear will ever be that. Um he’s done okay. you know, he’s a regular back marker. Stays out of the way for the most part. Um, but uh yeah, they’re just they’re never going to win win races uh the way that they’re they’re set up right now. So, um from from how I see it, it just uh is another money-making gig for this guy. Uh he’s going to do the same thing he did to Spire. Build him up a little bit. Might go from 32nd in points to 28th. uh be a little bit faster next year. Uh and then once the charters, you know, reach a certain amount or whatever, then then he’ll sell. So, um we’ll see. Um we’ll we’ll definitely see, you know, more next year cuz if they put somebody competitive, a good race car driver, or at least as good as one as they can get, a real race car driver. Um
who is that though?
I mean, that’s a good question. I mean, it would be have to be a Ford driver. Um, unless
doesn’t have to be.
You would think it would be a Ford driver or maybe they go after, you know, Matt Deenadetto or Hamri. Um, uh,
De Benadetto maybe more because I mean I I don’t mind Daniel Ham. I think truck series is perfect for him just based off his skill level.
Matt De Benedto won races in the cup series before, made the playoffs. I think Matt Deedto would be the guy.
I I do too, but um
the sponsor’s got to add up. Christian Echis is is a, you know, person that could be on the list there. Uh
I think he’s going to take the 10 car here soon even though Ty done well. That’s fair at
colleague, but I think Christian is waiting in the wings. Maybe waiting for AJ to retire.
What about um Chandler Smith as an option?
There’s a bunch of guys down there that would jump for an opportunity to race that car.
Yeah, Lane Riggs. Um, Haley Degan, Tony Brightinger.
Okay, now Frankie Munz.
Now you going off the deep end.
Jordan Bianke,
he’s a reporter. Who? He’d drive it.
Guarantee if they called him up and said, “Hey, Jordan.”
Get Freddy Krab’s fat ass in there. He’d probably drive it.
He would drive it.
I would. Now, would he drive? They called me right now and said, “Hey, need you in this 51 this week at Chicago.” Said, “All right, I’ll be there.”
I don’t think I would take that. I would embarrass myself.
I’ll be there. You’ve never even raced that on iRacing. Sure hadn’t.
Oh, that’s a terrible This would be the worst week
to try.
It really would. It’d be the worst. But
Oh, man. It’d be [ __ ] Where’s the reset button on here? [ __ ] You destroyed our three cars we brought this weekend. and get the [ __ ] out.
Nah, I’d be all right.
You’d go like half throttle. You’d have to You’d understand the course.
I’d finish.
Here comes [ __ ] Chris Busher blazing down your ass.
That’s what I’d do. I’d wait.
You’d hold up the field.
I’d wait for Chris to pass me and then just stop. We need the driver and the spotter of the 51 to come to pit road or come to the NASCAR hauler at the end of the race. Yeah.
Get out. Do a Josh Williams.
Yeah. I don’t think I’d get approved to run it, but uh
Mike Wallace can’t run.
Yeah. I ain’t said that in a while.
Hey, uh Ask Elio.
Yeah,
gotcha. He’d get approved.
He would one race. That’s good enough for him. Um but yeah, my my opinion on this is kind of a money maker thing. Although I I want to hold out hope and say this guy kind of learned the spire thing. Maybe that this, you know, stuff just didn’t go well between, you know, him and and Spire and that’s why he got out. He didn’t agree with all the decisions being made. Obviously, the decisions being made at Spire have been for the most part the right ones, but maybe agency eye on some business deals or or whatever and he just wanted it out and maybe he’s going to try to do it on his own without help from from Spire. Um, that’s one way of turning this thing upside down and putting it on a positive end for for for this race team. Um, and Rick Wear hadn’t sold all of his. He still has a some stake in the team, but majority of it has gone.
It’s called a minority stake.
That’s what I said. You said some steak. It l It’s looked like you were searching for the word minority steak. Rick has minority steak. Um, I like a big steak.
What kind of steak?
Medium and ribeye, which by the way, you still owe me. And you’re probably going to owe me this year, too. Going to be two for two. I’m on a roll, boy.
God know.
Yes. But uh so part of me wants that to happen, but again, another part of me is just like this guy’s just gonna make money and then sell it off here in four or five years to somebody else. And to be fair, the the the time to do this is is is right now with the with the 2311 and front row lawsuit against NASCAR. They could lose their charters um any day now. I think it’s coming up on the twoe thing when the when they appealed against uh the teams and appealed for NASCAR for the the charter thing. So, we’ll keep an up update and eye on eye on for that. But if real does sell, you’ll have plenty of suitors out there. NASCAR wants to have their own team. Um, you know, if RFK loses this charter thing to um to Rick Wear and the and the lawsuit goes for against Legacy and Legacy takes that charter away from from RFK. RFK needs a third charter. So there you go. You got one suitor right there and you got, you know, Dodge sneaking their way into the sport. You know, Rams coming back in NASCAR. could have some Dodge teams coming in in the next couple years to you. You you build this team up, make it up, you know, buy some charters up and and sell them. You know, you could have plenty of teams, you know, chomping at the bit for for those charters. So, you know, business business side, it kind of looks like a money grabbing thing, but hopefully um racing side, it can’t get much worse. Now, to be fair, Rick Racing has been better. At least they were better last year with with Justin Hale. They had some good runs. Then this year they I think they downgraded in a driver based you know Cody wear is not a cup series driver in my opinion. You most people will agree with me on that. I think the driver is holding back um the team more than the team holding the driver back in this scenario. I think Rick Wear made strides the past couple years with Justin Haley in that organization. uh compared to what what they got going on right now with Cody Wear and an occasional second car driven by Cory Lejoy every now and then which Cory Ljoy would be a better option than uh Cody Cody Rhodess co where I don’t know where Cody Rhodess came from but um yeah so end of the day it is kind of a we’ll see is that his Wait for start [Music] up above. Oh, good job.
Okay, shut up.
Time to blow. Shut up. But yes, it’s the worst team in NASCAR is getting sold. So, we’ll see how it goes. I don’t see them becoming a contender with this guy. But he could if if he if he turns the right screws and makes the right u moves on certain business deals and they get some money in or in that organization and get a better driver behind the wheel, get a more experienced, better maybe just a younger driver that’s got more raw talent uh than than than Cody Wear. And uh we’ll see. But um yeah, it’s a big deal. NASCAR team getting sold. It is the worst team in NASCAR and they’ve been around for a while now. And um yeah, we’ll see how it goes. But uh yeah, bye-bye Rick Wear racing at least for the uh Rick Wear making the majority business decisions for that team. So we’ll see how it goes.
Ripping the topics. [Music] RTT this week ripping the topics. What we got Riley? The topics have been ripped. Give me the Exfinity in the truck race. Speak on it.
They raced. They did.
We had some winners.
Next up, truck race. To be fair, I I did watch most of it Saturday, but it was the Cory Him show and he finally
won a race that he definitely deserved a win. He dominated the race, led all but one lap. Um I went out and started cutting the grass.
Lane Rigs
uh Saturday. Yeah, Lane Rig led the only lap that uh Cory didn’t, but I had to go cut the grass at the towards the end of that race and you know that back killed me. But uh yeah, Cory won there. It was cool to see Lime Rock uh back in the in NASCAR.
What do you mean back in
or sorry, not back in NASCAR in NASCAR.
Um Mike Joy was there. Uh, somebody from Fox just lost their mind and decided not to put him in the booth and I don’t remember
still had Jamie and still had Jamie Little the playbyplay announcement.
I don’t even remember seeing him or hearing him.
He was on the he was at the pre-race stuff.
Um, that was cool, but I thought he’d be in the booth cuz, you know, as much as I’ve [ __ ] on Mike Joy the past Well, that sounds wrong, but you know what I mean. He’s not where he’s not where he used to be as a commentator. Most of his age, everybody gets old. Mother Mother Nature, father time is undefeated um in everything, but he’s still way better than Jamie Little. So, I don’t understand. It’s like putting damn prime LeBron on the bench and saying, “Hey, [ __ ] uh Jordan Jones, not Jordan Jones. James Jones. James Jo. Jordan Jones. Girl went to school with uh James Jones. James Jones.
I don’t even remember who that is.
Yeah, man. She was right. Uh it’ be the website that goes viral and then all of our [ __ ] classmates will come after us. Um
I really don’t know who that is.
Yeah, James Jones. I’ll show you a picture of her. Um
I know James Jonesers. No,
he won he won a championship.
Okay. All right. But you know what I’m saying? Putting James Jones in the fourth quarter with two minutes to go and put prime LeBron on the bench. Don’t make no damn sense.
So, uh didn’t understand that call. But the race itself was good. Was not great. But I love the the camera angle of them flying down that hill going into I think turn six or something. Dude, that was [ __ ] they look like they were flying. You don’t get that from NASCAR anymore. The coolest camera angle was them coming up over the hill and get catching a little bit of air coming onto the front stretch.
But yeah, that was cool, too. But I think I just cuz it just looked like they were [ __ ] going 30 300 miles an hour.
30 300
th 300. I got some stuttering problem. Did I stutter?
Yeah.
But uh yeah, it was it it wasn’t a great race, but the camera angle was cool. And you know um hopefully they race at um what’s that track near there? Stafford. Um, I think the trucks would race better at Stafford since they’re up in Connecticut. You know, that’s a better track for the truck series to race at. I think it’d be a better Infinity and Cup series race if they ever race there at at Lime Rock. Uh, not I’m not, you know, going crazy for it, but I think it would be a better race overall if those to those two series, especially the Exfinity series uh race there. Overall, wasn’t a great race and Exfinity series on Friday night. Well, my guy won on Saturday, but gosh dog it, my other guy, my Infinity guy, almost won a damn race on Friday night. Almost had a perfect weekend in NASCAR. Caraffle came so close to winning that race, but uh the Joker won and um what the hell is his name?
Nick Sanchez. Uh his mouth looks like Jack Nicholas’s uh
They say the Joker is a wanted way his face the way face looks. But uh congratulations to him. He put himself in position, win the race. Caraffle should have been Lely Leland Hunter.
It should have been Carson Quaffle, but uh Carson came up second. Uh I I said he should have made the move with three to go when he got two second, held off. Um and you know, ultimately he couldn’t build enough of a run because there just wasn’t enough cars in that pack um to get um to get enough of a run to make the move on Nick at the end of the race. didn’t have any help from a teammate or anything like that like Chase kind of got on on Saturday night. So, I think he had a Toyota behind him, somebody maybe Taylor Gray or somebody like that. But, uh, no, it wasn’t Taylor. It was somebody else. But, yeah, that sucked. It was It was a decent race. I think the Cup Series was way better this weekend. It’s one of the rarea occasions where the Cup series was better than the Sunni series race. Exper just got really spread out because it’s just more of a a a big difference in the in the team cars and the team speed, team setups, you know, from first to 15th. Um then 16th on back is kind of, you know, considerably slower. Um so that’s what kind of made the race kind of not as good, but um yeah, it was still a decent race. Just wish, you know, Cara would have got it done there this weekend, get his first win, but his time’s coming soon. I trust him. I trust that team. Uh they’re starting to put some races together. Just need to uh have a little bit more speed most weekends. But uh
your time is up. His time is now.
Congratulations to Nick Sanchez. He’s a decent little super speed super speedway racer.
You can’t see him. His time is now. Yep.
Yeah. As far as the Exfinity stuff goes. Kind of a bad race in my opinion. I really didn’t enjoy it. uh thrown off by the um like two-hour long red flag uh for weather. Um just never really had a flow to it. Once I came back from the red flag, bunch of wrecks, you know, couldn’t really uh get get into the race. Uh in my opinion, end of the race was all right. Uh was hoping for Leland Honeyman. He was running there in like fourth. Hell of a save at one point. Uh should have should have wrecked it. I mean, car was 45 degrees in the wrong direction and uh gathered it on up and kept on trucking, but uh ended up losing a bunch of spots because of it and and didn’t get the finish he should have. Um and then like you said, you know, kind of agree on on uh the Saturday race um as far as the truck goes was was okay. It’s a road course, so it’s never going to be the best. And um you know, Stafford definitely better option uh for the for the truck series at the very least. Um if you’re going to run in that area, Stafford’s where you should be. So um really not much else to say other than that.
Yeah. Uh what’s next? TNT, I believe.
Dino might cuz I’m TNT. Dino might TNT. I want to fight. load. Huh? Am I right? Yeah.
Watch me explode. That was like my favorite intro as a kid with NASCAR cuz I’m TNT dynamite fight.
If Jay Elliot would have won the race, I probably would have done that song just based off TNT returning. What do you think about it?
Eh, same. Yeah, it wasn’t as good as Prime, but I will say it was better than Fox. It was better than Fox, but it had some of the same issues Fox had.
The audio mixing was awful.
Audio was bad. Uh, the booth was good.
Yeah,
I like the booth. Uh, Pit Road Reporting was fine. Mamba Smith sucks. I I I don’t know.
You’re racist. Mamba Smith sucks. I’m just going to say it. It is what it is. The kid’s an idiot. Why do you not like him?
I just he just doesn’t he doesn’t need to be on TV. Like he just I don’t like him on NASCAR’s, you know, podcast that they do.
No, he’s on the happy hour podcast with Harvey.
Yeah, that’s
him and Caitlyn Vincent.
That’s NASCAR’s podcast. They they sponsor that [ __ ] So,
um you know, podcast stuff that he does, I’m not a huge fan. Trackside stuff wasn’t great. Uh just kind of seems unnowledgeable. Um, and and doesn’t really
I think he knows NASCAR. He just don’t know how to
how to say it.
How to say it,
which is fine. You know, I mean, I get it. It is what it is.
Say that about us.
Personal indictment of of Mamba Smith, probably a great dude, but you know, just I think there’s better options out there. Um, and then of course camera angles on TNT were were rough for me. Um, a lot of times, you know, really wide angles for some weird reason, really low wide angles, really close up angles.
Uh, certain points throughout the the race, it it you know, you thought there was a wreck going on because
camera operator would be jerking the camera trying to get to the back of the field and then switch back up to get to the front.
Um,
and when normally when you have that, it’s because somebody’s wrecking, somebody’s got a problem.
Um, you know, almost missed a restart one time. Um,
they come back for commercial. They’re [ __ ] already going. Like, what the [ __ ]
So, just just some stuff to clean up. Again, they hadn’t they hadn’t broadcast a race in 10 years. So, um, what do you think about the graphics? I actually liked them.
Graphics were fine. Postra was fine. Pre-race was fine.
I still wish somebody would do the up the top just the scrolling one scrolling one. I like that one the best. I do, too. Even though I know you can’t see where your favorite driver is all the time, you know, it’s
you can see them more, especially if your guys running 25th.
Yeah, because you you scroll and if your guy like game started like 43rd, like dead last.
Every scroll along you you could see him. Okay, he’s up to 39th. Next scroll, he’s up to 36. You’re like, hell yeah. Come on, man.
But if he starts 43rd, you never see him until he gets in the top 20.
Yeah.
On the list. So, um, yeah, I like the scroll a little bit better as well. I just think there’s some things to button up. Uh, camera stuff is probably the most important, uh, to me. Yeah, for sure.
Uh, Mamba can get better.
What do you think of the post ratio? I thought it was a lot like Amazon, just not quite as much.
Yeah, I think I think Flare
I think Amazon’s was or I think TNT’s was better. Uh,
better than Amazon.
Yeah, I think the post race stuff
uh because uh the structure of the interviews I think was better. You got the You got to hear from Brad pretty early on.
Yeah, you got to hear from Brad pretty early.
Um, heard from Alex Bowman,
you know, heard from some of those guys that finished up towards the front. Then, you know, the panel talked and and brought on the winner. Um, so obviously not as much life, you know, on the the panel as you had with Cory Leoy and Carl Edwards. Uh but Shannon
Daniela, but she was a pit reporter.
Yeah, Shannon did fine. And um who else was over there? [ __ ]
Parker and
Parker Murray McMurray are fine. Um they’re better in the booth, I think. Uh but you know,
yeah, I agree.
It ease what it is on that. But overall, I think TNT did a good job. I think I think they can learn from this and get better over the next couple weeks and um you know get the uh get the camera angle stuff better and button some stuff up and it’ll it’ll be fun.
Yeah, I agree with you. For the most part, the uh the roughest part was the production aspect of it. The camera angles, you know, when you got battles for the lead, which I know this race was had an un ungodly amount of lead changes just based off how the race went. Just was a great race. You know, you go to the wide angles and you go to close-up angles, you’re going to miss some stuff. I get that. But um yeah, I didn’t like the jerkiness of it just always made me think, “Oh, there’s a wreck. Wreck behind the field. Oh, there’s a wreck up front.” You know, just the jerk. You got to get smoother on the transitions there. Um the audio mixing was awful. I mean, you had ton of onboard uh uh shots um of, you know, when they’re wrecking and you just hear full throttle and you’re like, there’s no way that that’s right. Even Dale Jr. called it. I was like, “Yeah, that was clearly the wrong um audio file. That was the wrong car incar because there’s no way, you know, you see a wreck and you just keep on full throttle on it and you could see it, somebody slowing down or breaking or spinning out and you could just hear you still hear the engine just full full song. It’s like, okay, that’s wrong. So, um, got to work on that. The pre-race stuff, um, didn’t really get to see a lot of it because we’ve we thought it started a little later than what what it actually did. So, didn’t get to see a lot of that. uh postra stuff. I agree with you. I thought it didn’t have as much life as the Amazon booth or the Amazon post race show, but it was still solid. Got to interview the the winner Chase Elliot, which I’m always a huge fan of listening to the winner of the race after after a win. Other than the front front stretch, I’d still rather them have the victory lane interview over the front stretch interview. I’ve always been a big fan of that. But, um, at least you get to hear him, you know, shortly after the the victory lane celebration, all that stuff. Kind of has more of a recollection on what all happened and all that stuff. But, uh, yeah, it was it was okay. You know, the booth was same as what it’s been the past five weeks. They were solid. Adam, uh, Dale, and and Steve are still the best three in the sport in my opinion. We’ll see uh when NBC comes along in in in five weeks um how they do with Lee and Jeff Burton and whoever else they have up there. I don’t think I do. You know if they’ve announced anything with NBC if it’s Lee and Jeff and who else?
It’s going to be Lee, Jeff, and uh yeah, them.
JT Daniels.
Wow. making a NASCAR com NASCAR appearance.
It’s going to be uh could be Kyle
Petty.
I don’t know. I think that they probably announced who it is.
Okay. Well, you looked that up. But anyways, um you TNT I’d give for the first round I give it a a B minus. Um better than Fox for the most part. Just got to work on the camera angles, the production of it, the audio mixing was horrendous. um a lot of the problems what Fox had uh earlier in the year, especially at the Clash. So, um some things to improve on, but you know, it’s definitely wasn’t the worst um production I’ve seen this year, but it definitely could be improved. Next, while you look for that, the number 54 team and Ty Gibbs, who you said would win the most races at JGR this year, is switching things up on a pit box. and what those changes are. So, um, Tyler Allen, rookie crew chief for the 54, you know, he Ty lost his crew chief Chris Gale to the 11 team because Chris Gabe Hart went to be in a more advisory role in in at Joe Gibbs racing this weekend. We saw him on the pit box at Atlanta. We’re like, what the hell is that guy doing up there? Chris Chris Gart was up there at the 54 pit box. He’s apparently kind of an ad, he’s not the crew chief of the 54 team, but he’s going to be an advisor for the 54 team, I think, until the playoffs start. You know, you got three other all the other three JGR cars have won races this year. They are already locked in the playoffs with with Denny, with Christopher, and with Chase Brrisco uh two weeks ago at poker, a week ago, however you want to think of the timeline at Pocono. So, Ty G is the only person left at JG. does not does not have a win yet this year. So, they’re putting Chris Gard in that role to kind of help Tyler Allen call these races and help the engineers and the car chiefs and all that stuff determine how they’re going to do races and how to set up the cars maybe each week and, you know, adjust on the car when Tai says, you know, says what he says on radio to how they need to work on the car for the next run or whatever. Um, this is kind of a slap in the face of Tyler Allen. Um, it’s like uh the the master coming back to the apprentice and helping him fight somebody because he don’t trust the apprentice to do his job.
Steve with him.
Steve Lart.
Yeah. Oh, I don’t know. So, he’s God almighty. So, he’s working for three networks. Amazon, TNT, and NBC and USA. That’s crazy. But, uh, yeah, it’s kind of it’s kind of a slap in the face. Tyler Allen. I get it because the 54 has been considerably slower for most of the year than the than the 19, the 11, and the 20, but still, you know, halfway through the year and your rookie crew chief, you’re just have no faith in saying, “Hey, we got to we got to bring this guy back uh from a competition role and we got to help help get the 54 team figured out.” Um I I have a a theory where if it wasn’t Ty Gibbs in this seat, I think they don’t do this. Uh, I think Joe Gibbs, his grandson, he’s gonna try to give all the resources resources he can um to help this help him get his first win because his pressure is getting getting pretty uh heavy for for Tai to win a race. You know, he’s over 100 starts now. Hadn’t won a race. He’s come close a couple times, but you know, he’s he’s been up and down, hot and cold this year. Started off terribly. Got on a bit of a run there at, you know, halfway, not halfway, but you know, started the spring, got on a bit of a roll, then he fell down again. now he’s kind of been back on a better role these past couple weeks. So, um we’ll see how it goes. I think it will help the 54 team, but it’s kind of just slap in the face of Tyler Allen. Um not giving this guy much of a chance to prove himself. Um just based off probably who the driver is. Yeah, he’s still going to win three or four more races.
More. He’s got to win three or four to start with. Yeah, he’s uh I think he’s going to have to win four of the next a couple.
Next a couple.
Yeah. So uh so I’ll be right. That ain’t I hate to tell you, bud. My Zayn Smith pick probably is over. Not necessarily, but it’s probably But I have a better chance of Zayn winning two races than your ass with Tai winning four. Yeah, you’re probably right. Um, but the these moves do make that shot a little better. I think um I think the 54 should be more consistent. Um, it might be one of those things though and and it is just it is what it is. You know, some guys are some guys are Infinity guys, some guys are cup guys, some guys are truck guys. Ty Gibbs might just be a really goodinity racer. Um, and he just might be an average Cup racer. Um, those guys exist. There’s guys,
uh, Daniel that go out there and whoop ass every weekend in the Exfinity stuff, but
can’t compete on Sundays. Hell, there’s guys that couldn’t compete on Saturdays and came over and won seven championships
uh, in the Cub Series. So, um, one Pablo talking about Jimmy Johnson.
Yes, obviously. Never won a never won an Infinity race. He would have won. He won one.
Didn’t win one before he got his cup ride.
No, he won one before he got his cup ride. He won at Fontana. The year before he got the cup ride and the year later he won his first career race at Font in the Cup Series. I’ll take your word for it. But um yeah, I mean I we’ll see what happens with the the the 54 team. Uh, obviously they’re going to give them all the rope they can. Um, they’re going to do whatever they can to to make that car fast because it is Tai Gibbs, but you know, it might be one of those situations where, you know, you either [ __ ] or get off the pot here. Here’s all your resources. If you can’t make it work, we’re going to do something else. So, we’ll see. Uh, Ty Gibbs has not been good um in general since he’s been in that car. So, um, you know, I this might be kind of a lastditch effort to turn things around for that team.
Okay, my bad. It wasn’t at Fontana, but it he did win a race the year before he got into the Cup Series. It was a Chicago land 2001. So, it was mostly right. Just the wrong track. Had the right year. Almost had the right track. Right. Everything. Wasn’t he already in the cup car by that time? uh knew his first year with 2002. [ __ ] I’m right yet again. I love being right.
So, he won his first championship in his fourth year. Two, three, four, five. No,
fifth year. Fifth year.
He didn’t stop till
and then won six.
Five.
Yeah. Five in a row. Yeah. Anyways, lawsuit update. Uh, this one will be quick. Obviously it’s ripping the topics, but last week NASCAR tried to get uh the teams that are with them in the charter agreement over 231 front road to um show their expenses of how they have spent their money the past what 15 years I
think 14
14 years in the cup series and the team said uh no uh pretty much that is um between us and our sponsors and all that stuff that NASCAR has no business in determining or seeing how we spent our money cuz NASCAR is trying to get um some proof and some uh uh leeway over uh 2311 and front row on you know 20131 front row. Their main one of their main problems is NASCAR gets too much of the percentage of the TV revenue and the purse money and all that stuff. NASCAR is trying to say, “Hey, can you show us our expense, your expenses, uh, so we can kind of fight this between 231 and front row?” And the team said, “Uh, no, you’re not getting that.” Yeah. But then NASCAR or the judge turned around said, “You got to give some of it.”
That’s true. That’s true. I forgot about that.
Uh, what they are doing is I can’t remember exactly. I really don’t understand exactly what is being forced to be turned over. There are certain expenses that the teams do have to divulge to NASCAR. However, the information is going to be provided to an accounting firm, a third party, not not associated with either NASCAR or the teams. Uh the numbers will be uh compiled by them and made into a spreadsheet that NASCAR will not be able to tell whose numbers are whose. it will just say, you know, team A spent this, team A or team B spent this, you know, this and and and so on. So, um, you know, I think I think if I’m a team owner, if I’m if I’m Brad Keslowski and I have signed the paperwork uh to to be a chartered member of NASCAR, I’m not happy that NASCAR is trying to force me to give them this information. Um so uh the the things that are uh have to be provided by the teams are total revenue, total cost, net profit and losses and sponsorship income. Uh so they don’t have to break down everything. It’s just, you know, four numbers uh that they got to give NASCAR and they will not be able NASCAR will not be able to tell what teams are giving what information. and they’re just going to have a list of, you know, 30 cars that, um, have, uh, have numbers beside them. So, um, but anyways, like I said, if I’m Brad Keslowski and I and I own RFK, I’m not happy that NASCAR is asking me for this information because what’s going to happen is is if the NAS if this information gets out, everybody’s got it. So NASCAR, you know, asks for this information. Hendrickk gives them, you know, Roush gives it, Pinsky gives it. And um always as these things go, things come out, things become public. NASCAR is now not the only one that gets to see this information. This is all public record. So, uh, guess who gets to look at Hendrick’s books? Rous and Pinsky. Guess who gets to look at Rous’s books? Pinsky and Hendrickk. So, obviously, you’re you’re in competition. You don’t want these guys uh knowing your information, and that’s why uh the judge has ruled in in the way he has. Like, yeah, some of this information NASCAR probably does need to know um for this lawsuit. But NASCAR doesn’t need to know where the information is coming from. They just need to be able to look at the numbers and see that teams are making this or not making this. um which really this might end up helping 2311 because um if the teams are losing money or you know barely breaking even you know
that’s that’s always been the motto in in racing you’re going to lose more money than you
how do you make a how do you make a millionaire out of a race car driver or a race team owner you start with a billionaire
yeah so start with a billion
um it’s uh yeah we’ll see it’ll be interesting uh it’s coming down to it 6 months we’ll I have an answer to all this stuff. Uh but uh it’s steady as we go for for now. Yeah. And uh Judge Kenneth Bale was a part of this the whole time. He had a great quote last week after all this stuff. He said, “I’m amazed at the effort going into burning this house down over everybody’s heads, but I’ll be the fire marshal or I’m the fire marshal and I will be here in December if it needs to be.” Uh, it’s just it’s just crazy how much how NASCAR is going about this. I get it. like and like Riley said, it it probably does deserve a uh some information for the teams for NASCAR to to help him with this lawsuit. But, you know, offering all that stuff is just in incredible because, you know, you can if teams get one little thing on another team, it can it completely change the outcome of how teams are run uh till the day we die, you know, in 20 30 40 50 60 years. It could change everything. You know, Hendrick Motorsports has been the the the top dog in NASCAR now for a while. And if Pinsky gets a hold of something, you know, based off these reports or, you know, RFK or Joe Gibbs Racing gets a little hint of what how Hendrick does this or how Hendrick does that, then they start doing it and all a sudden they’re, you know, they’re better than Hendrickk every week or they get sponsors over, you know, Hendrick Motorsports, taking some sponsors away, whatever. I mean, it could be the smallest little thing and I’m not a huge fan of that, but you know, I I get it for NASCAR, you know, but that’s going a little overboard there trying to get all the the team’s expenses and all that stuff just out in the cuz it’s going to come it’s going to go public whether NASCAR doesn’t want it to or tries not to have it go public. If they if they would have done that, it would have gone public. So, uh it’s just rough and uh and it we’ll see we’ll see how it uh how it goes in uh in December. [Music] Boy. Oh, brother. Well, it’s about that time uh for RTT, wouldn’t you say? Or not RTT. A boy. Hit that button. I I’ll hit it. What? You going to clean me out?
I need one beer. You are going to clean me out. You got to go to work tomorrow, don’t you? It’s all right. It’s non-alcoholic.
Huh? It’s non-alcoholic. All right. And add a boy time. My attab boy.
My attab boy. Uh from Richmond. Where? Rich, what? You can’t do that, Trent. Uh, my add a boy from Echo Park this past weekend. Obviously. Obviously. I’m giving it to my boy Chase from the same place. He wasn’t even born in Bostonville. Getting the win, the second win at Atlanta. um at a race where it wasn’t just a drafting style track like you had to have some driver skill come into it. You weren’t saving fuel the whole race. He avoided the wrecks. They played the strategy right even though Alen Gustin kind of wanted him to pit there over that last caution and Chase like I can’t give up the front row. Adam and All ultimately said, “Yeah, I probably agree with you.” But it was it was close between Allen bringing him down pit road there, which I don’t think would have worked out at the end. Maybe it would have. We’ll never know. But he won the race staying out. So, we’re going to say that was the right right call and Chase made the call mainly. So, um add a boy to the nine. Chase Elliot. I mean, we’ve when you’re the most popular driver in the sport, Dale Jr. can attest to this, there’s just a different standard held because you have more fans, more more voices cheering for you than let’s say a 20th place guy. And when you’ve only won one race in the past two and a half years, it the the fans get restless. You know it it you know we we expect more. You’re racing for the best team in NASCAR. Your teammates are out there win multiple races each and every year the past couple years while your ass has won one race the past two and a half years. That’s not good enough. So the all the the pressure that was put on this team is fair and justified. me including in that I put pressure on this nine team to deliver to have racewinning cars and for Chase to make the right adjustment calls and for Allen to make the right adjustment calls based on what Chase was giving him at the end of these races. We’ve seen constantly the past two and a half years Chase made the or Chase or Allen or whatever get behind on the car. They fall back throughout the field towards the end of these races. And this week it was not necessarily necessarily a handling race or setup race, but it it played a factor, but they did what they had to do. They made the right calls. They they didn’t screw up the race when they had probably the best car and they got it done. Taking uh taking into account that half the field got wrecked. I get that. But still, you you you took advantage of opportunity when it doesn’t present itself that much with half the field getting taken out. probably some of the best cars in the field got taken out in that wreck in in stage two. You were up there at leading the race when all that happened because y’all made a great strategy call in stage one to get track position to start stage two at a boy. We haven’t seen that and it worked out to to y’all’s advantage and chase you over a great race had a great car and made the right move at the right time passing Brown on the last lap. So, all things considered, give my ad a point to Chase in the N team. Let’s do it again, baby. Yeah. I mean, pretty obvious pick there. Uh, can’t be mad at it. It’s uh unfortunate, but u you stop stalling.
It is what it is. No, I know who I’m going to pick. I’m just making sure. God, you making sure.
Yeah. I’m gonna give it to Connor Zillich. Uh he finished 11th. Um one of my one of the most important things to me as a young race car driver is me not knowing you’re there. Uh especially when you’re
Unless you’re contending for the win.
Yeah. Unless you’re which you you’re not going to be. But um I forgot Connor Zillas was in this race, you know, halfway through this I forgot he was there. Um I think he was kind of caught up in a wreck somewhere in there. Uh but you know, stuck with it and didn’t make any noise. Didn’t wreck anybody that I know of. Didn’t you know, didn’t do anything dumb and came home with an 11 place finish. Now granted with all the the mayhem and you know Hatfield being taken out maybe not as impressive as it as it would be on a normal weekend. Um you you still have to avoid the wreck. You still have to put yourself in a position. You still have to be there. You still have to make sure you don’t wreck yourself. You know trying to get too much throughout the field um you know going towards the end of things. So, um I think Connor Zilich has a bright future. Obviously won the Pocono race last weekend uh for for the Xfinity Series was really good. Um Friday night had a chance to win that race. Um so I think Connor Zillich has been on a roll ever since he came back from that back injury uh in the Xfinity series and uh you know I look forward to probably seeing him in that 99 car next year. So, um we’ll see on that. But, uh a boy Connor Zilich get one of your guys second, ninth, and 15th.
Well, I thought about giving it to Chris for that save that he had.
Yeah, I thought he was wrecked and guess who was beside him? I think it was Chase beside him, was it? I would have just ruined my race.
And then they got door to door not too long after.
Oh, yeah. They hit each other. Um, uh, couldn’t give it to Brad for for losing the race,
which neither one of them seemed like they were mad about that kind of racing. Um, uh, but, uh, couldn’t give it to Brad for losing the race and couldn’t give it to Priest for finishing 15th. So,
uh, you can’t do that, however. Um,
hit that button. Got to hit the button.
You can’t do it. [Music] You can’t do that. This is going to be the tougher one. Uh, not a lot of dumb [ __ ] happened this weekend that I’ve seen. Uh, you know, some guys had some bad
Brad didn’t pull it down pit road while it’s closed leading the race.
Good job, Brad.
He did not. Um, I guess I guess I’ll give it a NASCAR and it’s been a while since I’ve given it to NASCAR.
I gave it to him last week.
Um, yeah, I used to give it to him every other week. Um, if if you’ve been around for any amount of time, you know that. But
we’re we’re trying to get on Nasar’s good side, I guess, because we’ve been giving us
Well, they just hadn’t done as much dumb [ __ ] recently. They haven’t.
Uh, but but this weekend they did. And you know, I
what they do? I want to know what you’re talking about.
I think, you know, there is an excuse for it. I just don’t know if I’m a team owner or a driver. I’m happy with it.
You can’t tell guys that they can, you know, repair their car, go to the garage, start working on cars,
let them work on the car for an hour, and when they’re getting ready to drive the [ __ ] back on the racetrack to compete, you tell them, “Sorry, you’re done.” Like those guys could have been home. Like they could have been home or at least halfway there, you know? They’re driving. He had the 19 car, the 11 car. He had a bunch of guys in in the pits working and working hard. All those guys were in there breaking their backs, trying to put these cars together to go out there and get two or three points. And um at no point during that process did NASCAR think to go over there and tell them, uh you’re you guys are done. So, um, either I know they can’t because they’re scared of the liability and they’re scared of, you know, whatever they’re scared of. But either let them fix their [ __ ] cars or don’t like just if you’re going to let them fix them, let them fix them. Let them make their own decisions whether or not it’s safe enough to put their own driver back on the track. Let the driver look at the car and say, “I’m not [ __ ] driving that.” if he doesn’t want to drive it. NASCAR should not be dictating whether or not a car that was built by a team that’s been in a wreck is good to go back out or not. I don’t think so. I think NASCAR should should let the teams decide if it’s worth putting the car back out there. That’s what the minimum speed is for. If you put the car back out there and it’s too [ __ ] slow and you’re in the way, you get back black flags, you’re done. But don’t let the guys work on that car for an hour and a half. Go over there and say, “Oh, we didn’t catch this earlier. Sorry, you can’t race.” That’s ridiculous to me. And um luckily it didn’t happen to any of my guys, but if I’m if I’m a 19, if I’m if I’m a crew member, if I’m a team owner, if I’m paying for that [ __ ] I’m pissed that NASCAR let let them do that. So, um really kind of a dumb situation that probably could have been been caught otherwise, but if NASCAR would just get out of its own way and let the teams [ __ ] do their own thing, you’d never have this problem. Yeah, that’s fair. I forgot about that. Um, honorable mention, it’s not my UK either. My honorable mention is to Daniel Dye for apparently flipping off Austin Hill at the city race on Friday night. Uh, Austin Hill was like six laps down because he had uh what was it? Fuel pressure props I think at the beginning of the race. Um, or something with the motor. Um, lost power. Kept on going in and out for the 21 team. But Daniel D was having a decent race. So, I don’t remember where he finished, but um apparently he had pissed off Austin Hill, flipped him down the backstretch when Austin Hill was really not in contention to win the race. If you’re battling for certain spots, yeah, go ahead and show your displeasure. But I wouldn’t do it to a guy that’s better than you, as much as I don’t like Austin Hill, he’s better than Daniel Dye, uh to piss him off uh at a race where he just had a bad day and you had a decent day. Uh cuz that’s going to happen too much. Uh, and I wouldn’t, you know, I wouldn’t try to wake awake the bear on that one. Um, cuz Austin Hill, he after the race, he he almost he wanted, I think, to swing at Daniel D. I don’t think I don’t think Daniel would have ended up too well on that end of the spectrum. But that’s not my you can’t do that. Uh, just I’ll mention, but my my actual you can’t do that is going to Tyler Reic. Never heard of him. um in the 45. Mainly just him, but I ain’t the team. Uh he probably could have made a move with four to go. Three to four to go. Um and decided not to and he was second behind Brad. Chase is in third.
Let me push Brad.
And he pushed Brad, but ultimately Chase took the run and passed Reic. And then the next turn Bowman passes him, which pretty much eliminates Re’s chance of winning the race at that point. And I I can uh attest to this by our neighbor. He’s a big Tyleric fan. He was very upset at Tyler for not taking that uh that move and not making that move on Brad when he had the chance to. And uh yeah, if Ren has already won a couple races this year and he’s safely in the playoffs, I wouldn’t probably be as, you know, critical of him and that 45 team. But the but that team man this year they have kind of just not struggled but they’ve just kind of been underwhelming and uh you know ain’t won a race yet this year really hadn’t come close in a couple races this year to winning a race. He’s just been kind of off this year. So um you know when you have that opportunity um I know you didn’t have a whole lot of help with you. Um but nobody really did at the end of the race other than the nine and the 48 working together. So, uh, you take the you take the run when you can. And, uh, I’m not saying Reic would have won the race if he’d made that move, but it definitely would have maybe helped him have a better chance of winning the race towards the end if he does make that move on on Brad. And who knows, maybe it doesn’t work for him. But, he had a pretty damn good car on on Saturday night. He was definitely the best Toyota left. Uh, Ty Gibbs had a decent car, but I think Reic had a little bit better car. And Reic is a better driver than Ty Gibbs, so I trust him more in those situations. But, uh,
you sure they have same amount of wins this year? Oh yo, how many wins does Tai Gibbs have overall in the Cup series?
Or like four or five less than Tyler Reick?
Reick has like 10 wins. Does he?
Check it. Check that [ __ ] Stop looking at women. That just happened to me.
Oh yeah, I’m sure. Just a coincidence. This just happened to be what was on the Facebook feed. I’m sure. But Reic, man, you you’ve had kind of a rough year. you hadn’t have as much speed as you normally have had. So, you know, you got to take the opportunities when when they present present themselves and and you didn’t. I’m glad you didn’t. Believe me, I’m very glad you didn’t cuz Chase ultimately won the race. But I think if you’d have made that move on Brad, it would have got more interesting to see how Chase would have passed Brad for a second. Or maybe Brad would have passed Reic right back. We’ll never know. But yeah, Reic didn’t take the move when he probably should have. So, you get the you can’t do this. Eight. Okay. I was closer than you were with four. I said five.
You said four. You said four or five. So, we’re both half right, half wrong. Either way,
you’re still closer.
What is You said 10.
I’m two off. You’re three off.
So, I said you’re still closer.
Oh, they said you’re still closer,
dumbass. Shut up. All right. Well, we got Chicago.
God damn. It’s 10:15.
We got Chicago. Chicago land.
I wish maybe Chicago. Yeah, maybe next year. I think next year it will be.
Maybe
Chicago Street Course this weekend will be our third race here.
Wonder who you’re picking.
Uh we’re doing the preview first.
It’s going to suck. Uh Shane won this race two years ago and Alex won this race last year. Both have been affected by rain. Hopefully this year rain will stay away. we can have a kind of a normal race here at Chicago cuz I think it actually puts on decent racing, not the best, but the road course racing in this car is not its strong suit to to be nice about it. Um, obviously you’re going to have um qualifying matter a ton. However, if you hit the right side of the strategy with certain cautions and all that stuff, you’ll be right there at the front whether you qualify first or 31st. So, um, qualifying well does help, but if you’re not on the right side of the strategy, it will not matter. Just ask Ty Gibbs at Mexico City a couple weeks ago.
Yeah.
So, um, determine when those cautions come out.
Shane Van Gizburg in here last year.
Well, no, he just blew up or blew at axle or something. He was the fastest car, but he Anyways, um, yeah, strategy is going to matter. It’s going to be pretty much the determining factor. Now, you can pass him.
He got a wreck, did he not?
Huh,
Shane? Didn’t he get a wreck here last year?
I don’t I No, I think pretty sure he ran into Maybe he was the wreck. Maybe he ran into somebody and then just something broke and he couldn’t continue. Maybe that’s what it was. But I know he had a problem and couldn’t he finished problems.
He finished last. That’s all I know. And I picked him last year. Um pick him again. But uh
let’s see. Bet you won’t. But um anyways, so you can pass here. It’s just very hard because of how tight these corners are and, you know, third year coming here. I think a lot of the drivers are more comfortable now obviously than they were two years ago, but they’re still kind of out of their comfort zone just based off, you know, how close the walls are, how tight the corners are, and you make one mistake, you are just you’re done for. Um, and it puts these guys I think mentally this race is one of the more draining races of the year just because you have to be on your hit your marks every time, every corner, every lap or you will be done for and probably cause a huge wreck in the process. So, um, that what makes this race entertaining uh just because these guys are still not comfortable with this type of racing and this type of course and it’ll cause problems. You’ll have a a big stack up probably at some point during the race because somebody gets loose, somebody wheel hops or somebody overdrives it and puts it in the in the in the uh wall and then you got, you know, 10 cars that just kind of slam on brakes and pile into each other in the process. So, we’ll see how it goes. I’m expecting a decent race, but I think Chevy and Toyota will be the main two obviously that’ll have the best chance to win here. Um, Christopher Bell should be strong. Um, Tai Gibbs should be strong. He’s been strong here before. Tyler Reic finished second here last year. He should be strong. And then you got Chevy with the Hendrick boys. I think most pretty much every Hendrick car will be pretty fast this weekend. All guy, all the guys have been good on road courses in this nextG car. And you know, obviously got uh the Track House boys and SVG. This is what he’s so used to being racing that in Australia in the V8 Supercars. So, he should be strong yet again. I think he had the best car here last year. just [ __ ] happen to him. And then um we’ll see about Ross, Daniel. We’ll see about Daniel. He should be decent here. And um I think your winner will come from one of those three organization or four organizations if you count 231 with Tyler Reic. So it should be an interesting race and uh hopefully the rain will stay away. We can have a normal Chicago street race because I would uh I would love to see it. That’s probably the last one here.
Yeah, probably. Um, yeah. I mean, you said pretty much everything I wanted to say. Um, rain possibility. Hopefully it doesn’t come. Uh, hopefully we see a straightup race here. Chevrolet Toyota probably going to win the race. Oh boy.
Um,
we’re looking at the entry list. Sorry.
Looking at the entry list. We have some really, really interesting folk uh that are going to be in the race. Katherine Le going to be there this weekend.
I think I’m a picker.
Cory Heim going to be there this weekend. Josh Bicki going to be in the 66.
Oh, damn. Ryan Priest is coming this week.
Ryan Priest going to be in the race. Hell yeah. Um,
page 60 car.
Will Brown will be in the 13 for Coll. So,
I told you he was making a start, didn’t I? I said that a couple weeks ago.
I don’t [ __ ] know.
He wrote, remember he drove for the 33 at Soma last year, two years ago. That’s who I was. Anyways, we had an argument about it. Go ahead.
I don’t recall.
Sure you don’t. You’re probably drunk.
Probably. Wish I was now. I think you are. You’re just tired that we’re going to use. I want you to know I went to bed at 8:30 last night.
Uhhuh.
I woke up at 1.
Nice. I went to work at 4.
Hey, you know what I did last night? I got home from Georgia from my farm at like 10:00. Ate dinner. Well, I ate Zach. I got on the way back and I fell asleep at probably 11ish. I didn’t wake up till 4:00 this afternoon. I mean, I slept so [ __ ] long.
I literally had a full work day.
Yes.
I slept, woke up, went to work, and worked all day.
You have to think my sleep I’ve not had a lot of it the past week. Me either.
Well, that sucks for you. Maybe you should just have a day off or something. Um,
I don’t get those. Anyways, go ahead.
Um, yeah. I mean, like I said, you said most of everything. There really ain’t a ton to talk about. Um, Chevy, your Toyota probably going to win a race. Uh, guys like AJ, obviously, Christopher Bell. Uh, about AJ, too. He could have a chance. Shane Van Gizburg and folks like that probably gonna be your uh Tai Gibbs probably going to be your McDow favorites. McDow, Kyle Larson, Ross will be fine. Um Chris will be okay. Probably not race winning speed, but probably get a top 10.
It’s probably his worst road course.
Yeah. So, um we’ll see what happens. Um hoping for chaos. Hopefully it’s somebody random. Uh cuz there’s one guy everybody wants or thinks is going to win. There’s one guy you’re probably going to pick. If you don’t pick him, you’re big dumb and I will. So, uh yeah, I mean hopefully hopefully some chaos hop happens. Hopkins. Yeah, that too. So,
John Hopkins.
Oh, we’ll see. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I won yet again last week with Zayn Smith. He didn’t win. He came close to winning. um had a chance to win was lead with like seven to go, which I never would have thought would have would be in in Zane Smith’s cards, but uh he came close, but still beat whoever the [ __ ] you picked. He picked Priest. Yeah. So, he beat beat Priest, which Priest had a better car, but Oh, okay. We’ll never know. Um
[ __ ] was wrecked and running with him, but All right.
He was running. So, Priest had the best car. Is that what you’re saying?
I mean, he qualified like fifth. Okay, Zayn qualified like seventh. Priest been a race car driver, too.
Oh my god, that’s another couple wins. Zero. And [ __ ] Ryan’s been doing it way longer.
Check the points. Hey, Zane should be coming up there. He going He going to make it on points. I ain’t going to say it. He had to win the race now. He going to make it on points, baby.
You’re an idiot.
Anyways, my pick for Chicago this weekend. I picked him two weeks ago. I picked him again. Give me Shane Van Gizburgen. Uh, won this race two years ago. Probably had the best car here last year till till shed hit the fan. Um, I haven’t lost since Charlotte. So, I’ve won one, two, three, four, five straight races and that’s including Mexico City where I picked Shane and he won the extra race. So, I’ve gained seven points on you the past five weeks. Lick my balls. Who you got? Cuz you ain’t got Shane, jackass. Yeah, it’s been I don’t know that guy. It’s been unfortunate. What’s the score now?
119. Yeah, I went from like a five-point lead to a two-point loss. Um, it’s been rough out here. You’d have picked Brad. Last time you won, you picked Brad.
That’s true. And I picked Brad in this span and I won. Brad’s are lucky. Well, no, I lost. I lost when I picked Brad at Atlanta earlier in the year and you picked Todd Gillan. So Brad’s not undefeated this year. Anyways, who you picking? Let me see the list.
Oh my god.
I know who I want to pick. I just don’t know how many times I’ve picked him. Justin Haley, I think you only beat him zero times. He did put a second here two years ago. [ __ ] It’s a dumb pick. It’s a dumb pick if Shane wins, but it’s a good pick if he doesn’t. Who the [ __ ] are you talking about?
Give me Chase Elliot.
You [ __ ] Give me Chase Elliot.
Are you [ __ ] kidding?
One of the better one of the better road course racers in NASCAR history.
Oh, you ass. this guy who I thought you were going to pick. This might be dumb like I said, but you know, got some momentum off the win.
You only got one more with him.
I know. Got Same thing with me with Shane.
Got some momentum off the win. Uh, one of the better road course racers out there. If Shane blows up, wonderful. Going to win. If he doesn’t, Chase will still be good enough to compete. Um, yeah. I mean, that’s really all I got. It’s kind of a layup, but it’s also not a layup because Chase could go out and win the race. So,
he could, right? I’d be happy with it.
And, you know, he’s not a guy you expect to win every week. So, I think this is a good place to use him.
Fair enough. Fair enough. Wow. Was not I thought you picked Christopher Bell for sure. Ah, he was he it was
Nobody has nobody has picked him yet this year. I still think no none of us have picked him. I haven’t picked him. I know I haven’t picked him.
You know, he won what? Three races in five weeks.
Three in a row? Yeah. Three in a row. He won races three through five. Yeah.
Yeah. And we ain’t seen [ __ ] from him since. He’s He’s been bad. He’s been bad.
He hasn’t been bad. He’s been
bad for a JGR car. He won the All-Star race.
Yeah. But he shouldn’t have.
Who should have?
Brad Keslowski. [Laughter] Okay. Oh man,
Joey. It should have been Joey.
No, it shouldn’t have. Joey sucked. He didn’t pick. Um, well, good thing is next week you can pick Shane because I’m not going to pick him at Sonoma next week.
Neither am I. Okay, we’re picking Watkins Glenn. No, he should have won that race last year. He shouldn’t have. Guess who won.
Chris Busher. Yeah, that guy. Anyway, should be a decent weekend. Uh the truck series is off, but you got the Xfinity and the Cup Series races this weekend. Um Exfinity Series is Saturday at 4:30 on the CW, Chicago Street, Chicago Street Race. And then, uh the Cup Series will be Sunday at 2:00 on TNT. So, uh uh yeah. So, we’ll see how the inseason tournament bracket looks after this weekend and and all that good stuff. Uh, I guess I got to kind of cheer against Chase Elliot this weekend. Not really. I mean, if he wins, I’ll be [ __ ] ecstatic, but uh then we’ll be tied again. But anyways, Riley, what you got on this weekend?
Work sucks to suck. I’ll be off. Um, I need to stay indoors for the next 72 years to to uh
uh fix this sunburn that I got burnt to a crisp yesterday at my farm. Went down to Georgia at my farm.
Uh, put some trail cameras out, put some corn out, worked on the apartment small. Um, so I got burnt to a crib. So that’s that’s why I slept 16 hours today. I was [ __ ] exhausted. Uh doing all that in one day is and drive at home too is is four hours back is pretty rough. But uh yeah, I’ll be off this weekend. I get to enjoy all the all the racing action. Hopefully rain stay aways. But if it doesn’t, then we’ll still be able to race long as it’s not [ __ ] thunderstorming and pouring pouring dick hole out there. So rain won’t be a too big of a factor factor, but I’d like to see a a dry Chicago street course just just for once at least. It’s probably the last time we’ll see it. But um yeah, that’s all I got. If y’all made it this far in episode, appreciate you. Drink a beer. shotgun a bear, have a nice cold Coca-Cola, one of the three.
