If you’re planning a golf trip abroad, here’s why you should consider Laathienda Golf. Situated on the south coast of Spain, just over an hour from Malaga airport, it boasts two championship courses called the Lynx and the Heathland. The Lynx course arguably has the more wow factor as it provides stunning views of the majestic rock of Jibralta and Africa beyond at various points. The fairways are generous and you’ll also experience double greens and some severe elevation changes which add to the visual spectacle. It can also lay claim to the most amazing halfway huts in all of golf, the Kabar, which with its incredible views is the perfect place to recharge the batteries during your round. There’s plenty of variety in how the holes meander their way towards the coastline and back again. And when we played it in January, it was in impeccable condition. The other course is the Heathland course, which goes more inland and is arguably the more difficult of the two with its tighter fairways and several large lakes to contend with, but you’ll still be treated to exceptional views of the Mediterranean Sea between the Andalusian hills. Away from the golf courses, there’s a driving range and multiple practice screens to hone your skills before your tea time, and the friendly restaurant in the clubhouse, which is the perfect setting to refuel and reflect on your round as you watch the sun go down.
