This week on Father Time with De’Meco & Blair, we’re making history! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our very first non-dad AND our very first woman guest, the brilliant creative photographer and content creator, Tessa POV! As girl-dads ourselves, we specifically wanted to hear a woman’s perspective on fatherhood, and Tessa delivered beyond expectation.

Get ready for a dynamic conversation that blends light-hearted banter with deep dives into fatherhood, creativity, and the vital role of women in the golf space.

Tessa kicks things off by revealing her highly anticipated Top 5 Fictional Fathers, and Blair gives us this week’s “Forgotten Fictional Father” – none other than The Professor from Powerpuff Girls! Also, Tessa shares her inspiring journey into photography and how her own father ignited that passion.

The conversation then shifts to the powerful realities of being a female content creator in a male-dominated golf world. We tackle gender dynamics in golf, the ongoing impact of misogyny in sports, and how social media shapes perceptions. Tessa bravely shares her experiences with negative comments and highlights the importance of authenticity in content creation.

We’ll also explore the fantastic Chicago Golf Gals initiative and discuss how sharing passions, like golf, can strengthen family connections. This episode is a must-watch for anyone interested in golf, creative content, fatherhood, and the inspiring women breaking barriers in sports!

Let us know what topics you’d like to hear us discuss this season, in the comments below!

Welcome back to another episode of Father Time with Dico and Blair. A podcast where we talk about balancing fatherhood, relationships, careers, and passions. I’m DO aka Sunny D. If you saw seen me on the golf course, father to the wackadoo toddler who this week I mean just two weeks ago she was introduced to a goofy movie. She is now quoting a goofy movie. I am too much.
I don’t know if we do cuz like we sprinkle Wicked in there and Mickey Mouse Club and I didn’t know if you knew this. I didn’t know that Pete was a cat.
I thought he was a dog.
What’s his name?
I thought he was a dog.
No, I just knew him as Pete. I just knew him as Pete. So, this is the first thing I knew about it. I was like I was blown away. Blown
away. And uh and I’m your play party host your country cousin Blair aka Sir Winnie who was coming off of Father’s Day where I got uh How to Train Your Dragon Toothless who reminds my daughter of our dog Milo. And then I got these dope ass like cards and stuff. So I have nothing about Penelopey this week. This is all selfishly on me. Uh I drove in our league. I got long drive and whole night 260. Your boy’s out there ripping. So if you see me on the course, no more Southside Bunker Bear. My boy just out here taking money. Don’t play with me. And this week we have our very first non dad. I’m really excited about this conversation that we’re about to have. Um, if you are in the golf space, you know this person. If you’re in the golf space and you don’t know this person, then you’re not really in the golf space. Uh, shout out to our girl Tessa P Ov. Do not call her Tess.
Okay. Don’t do it. Don’t do it.
Bye.
Add home. That’s a way to [ __ ] to announce yourself, Tessa. Oh, that’s one way to do it.
Hell yeah. Welcome to the show, Tessa. Thank you so much for uh doing it. What’s up?
Honor of the two of you. We’re gonna God darn it. Let me go grab mine now. [ __ ] ASMR. Love it. Love it. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. really good, guys.
That one is shout out. Shout out to you from
It’s like Sprite.
That one is like Sprite. If you um
Yeah,
I won’t tell you what to do with it, but if you like Anjo, makes a really good margarita. Do I do that right now?
I’m not saying interest is peaked. I’m just letting you know like for the ne for the next go round. You know what I’m saying? Um
I’ll wait. I’ll wait. I’ll chill for tonight. Okay. So,
no out of my mouth if I do that. So, Tessa, um, what we have as our flagship question for all of our guests that we have on, and with you being the first nonactual father guest on the show, we would love to know, Tessa, who are your top five fictional fathers?
All right. Well, you mentioned this already because I was going to actually say this. Uh, Goofy. Okay.
He means so well.
Yeah, he’s a great parent, dude.
Hell yeah.
Um, who else? I got uh
Louis Lewis Wong Wang whatever Lewis love him. Um we got Finding Nemo’s dad Marlin.
Marlin. Okay. Oh, I’m a s for Marlin. This is the Gen Z. This is the Gen Z episode.
The thing is I’m not.
I know. I know. That’s the problem.
I’m just That’s what they say, right?
That’s it. Yeah. I guess I wouldn’t know.
I do know. Who else do I like? Um, is that three? Yeah, it’s three. It’s a very real thing.
Incredible. All right. Shout out to little boy Josh. Yeah. Bob Parr. We like it. We like it. Damn. I’ve named fish a dog. I guess I Okay. Uh, one more.
Last one. You just got one more. Last one.
That thing out. Who’s a father? What have I seen lately? I mean, fathers we have.
Yeah, you Yeah, you put uh you put 50 first dates in there. Um I I mentioned him.
The father the dad.
Drew Barrymore’s dad.
Yeah. No, he was honestly.
Yeah,
that’s what you would want.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You had to walk yourself off the cliff, dog. Yeah. So, the dad from 51st Dates
his name. Unless 51st Dates dad.
I want to I was about to say Nick Miller, but he is not a dad. Blake Clark.
He really tried to protect her. He did his
His name His name was Marlin
Whitman. Two.
Another Marlin. Yeah, I was about to say I’m a s for him, too. Okay,
your name is Marlin.
There you go, man.
Drop in the comments.
She’s crazy. Daddy, that’s wild.
We have no idea.
That’s why we don’t bring women on.
Yeah, we have no idea what this conversation is going to be like because we we’ve never had a nondad. So, this is just Yeah, we’re just going to let this this episode run. And for more content, be sure to follow us at FathertimePod on all socials. All right, I’m back to the episode. Peace. All right. Well, in typical Father Time fashion, we have a forgotten fictional father brought to you by the Southside Bunker Bear. No, I was right.
Yeah. Yeah. Uh so this one another another uh another Zeny special. Shout out to my wife. She told me this initially. So this has got her on her like wave of finding guests uh or fictional fathers that have forgotten. But because of the guest that we had on um I watched an interview that she had. She was speaking about how her dad put a camera in her hand and we want to talk on that and touch on that a lot more. So, the father that I’m choosing today that no one has talked about is the father to three superhero little girls. Uh, the dad from the Powerpuff Girls. Uh,
Professor
Yeah. Professor Ogie, I think, right? Was that his name? Yeah.
I don’t know. They’re just like Professor. Yeah, Professor, I think. Yeah. But, um, yeah, the professor from the Powerpuff Girls, he when I tell you like what can you do as a dad, right? your daughters can like lift the world. They can fly a super speed. They can clean. They can fight. They can defend. They don’t need necessarily need daddy for anything. And there’s a specific episode, I’m thinking about a clip where uh that exact thing happens. They’re cleaning up the house. They, you know, fix things super fast. They make windows and all this stuff. And then at the end of the day, you could still see that because they’re so pooped out, they forgot to put themselves to bed. And that’s when daddy gets to be the superhero where daddy puts him in bed and he gives
Why am I getting the kills?
It’s awesome, right? Yeah. that that episode that when she showed me that clip, I was like,
“Such a soft
I got you. I got you.” So, yeah, the the professor from the Prop Girls is this week’s uh forgotten fictional father.
Yo, on a very real note, that is 1,000% like a forgotten fiction cuz that was not something I was going to be love.
Yeah.
For real though, like
so true.
Mhm.
Like when people ask me about like the fictional father saga that we that we go on. spice.
Yeah. People like ask me like, “Oh, like like why that?” And like it only highlights that I just watch way too much TV and way too much like too many movies. But for you to mention somebody that I was that was never on my radar ever. Ever. Shout out to you and Alma on that is a solid pick. That’s my girl.
Um and I and again that kind of flows perfectly into uh this week’s guest Tessa. you were talking about in an episode uh I don’t know like an episode but I saw you do like an a cart golf cart interview um and you were speaking about how your father put a camera in and that’s where that bug caught kind of wax on the man that your father was and what he meant to you to the family um and what you hope to like have his legacy be moving forward. Um yeah, like you said, I have a video of uh specifically if you can see how young I was with this camera and I remember we were going on a road trip to like North Carolina with my family. We used to take a lot of road trips when I lived in Florida and uh I always was trying to grab the camera from him and then you know like when you hand your like your little daughters like the camera to take a photo of you and your wife. That was like me. But I’m like holding this big camera that’s like bigger than my head trying to take a picture of him and my mom and that’s like a very vivid memory. Um even though I can see like there’s um family home videos of me doing it like I remember that moment very vividly and I’m like I enjoyed it so much and photography was just like a passion. My dad, my dad had a lot of passions, but that was like something like I feel like I was always creative. And then in my elementary school, they offered like if you had good grades, they would offer where you could um do this like you can join like the news anchor crew and every I think two weeks they would or month actually every four weeks you would get like the role as the director, the camera person, the news anchor, the lunch lady like it’s cool and it gets broadcast to the whole school. And in the fifth grade, I did this and my favorite role was director and camera. Like I didn’t really like being in front of the camera because the night before I’d always be like, why do I why do I do like why did I sign up for this? Um but like I found joy in like directing and like you know telling people not telling people what to do like but more so like I just saw a vision and I’m like that’s cool. People aren’t listening to me. So like yeah, at a very young age I just really enjoyed um anything like directing or camera related. And then you know fast forward to when I got older um every year my dad would buy me a little digital point and shoot camera that they call vintage now. Oh my god. Yeah.
Dang. And I still have like I still have them upstairs. Like I don’t know how to charge it but I found like a 36 gigabyte SD card that I have yet to put to see what’s in there. So, maybe I’ll do that. I don’t know. I’m kind of scared. Like, what did my elementary high school self have in there?
What was I into? What was I into?
What hairstyle was I rocking?
Oh my god, dude.
Oh, I was I was
Oh, so you had like the the Was it the bang over just the one eye?
Yeah, cuz tonight will be the night. I’m joking. play that on the guitar, too. Um, but yeah, so every every Christmas he would gift me a new one and the megapixels would keep getting better and better and then and come high school, I would like do fun shoots with my friends. I would make them be a model for me. And then college, I kind of like stepped away from it. Instagram like came. It was like 20, what year? 2012.
Yeah. 2012, 2013. own stuff, but like I would take like little artsy photos here and there and then um it came back to me like after college and um picked it up and then I just actually there was a gap year in 2017. I left my camera in an Uber.
Oh.
And they took it and that was like when I was getting back into it again, too. And they they still never get I knew it was right there next to him. He never came back. He says, “I don’t know where it is.”
Oh, bet.
So, I like stopped shooting for like two years, like devastated.
Wow.
And then finally like bit the bullet and got a new one, but like Yeah.
And then, you know, like I think throughout being a kid and everything because I actually I’m yapping too much, but I was in the medical field. So my parents, you know, they’re Filipino.
Shout out.
Shout out. But like with them, they’re like, “No, you gotta go be a nurse or a doctor or a dentist, something in a medical field that’s like stable.” Which honestly makes really sense a lot right now. But um in this economy, um but I was like, “Okay, fine. Maybe that’s what I want to do, you know.” And so I went to school for exercise science. I was working at a physical therapy office for a while and working with a lot of like athletes from the Bulls. I was working like at their next door to them. So, we would see a lot of the players or we would see a lot of um like the staff and stuff come in and
it was cool. It was a cool job. But like I was not like into basketball anymore, so I never fang girlled. Everyone else would be like, “Oh, I’m like who’s that? You’re talking to Jabari Parker right now.” I’m like, “Yeah, that’s the city kid, too.” Like, yeah, that’s the that’s the city. Oh, yeah. Now I I’m putting I get it. I know who you are.
Not Yeah. Not in the moment, though.
Cuz I’m over here like, “What year was it?” Cuz that was Depart Parker. That I’m fangirling indirectly fangirling like 5 years after the fact.
Just talking to was like, “You’re right. That is him.
Oh my god, Joan. Yeah.
What’s your hair routine? That’s awesome.” And then just like walk off. But yeah.
Right. Right. Exactly. Okay. I would run into um uh Zach Lavine in the parking lot often in his G Wagon. I’m like, “Hey, dude. Just regular folks.
What’s up, dude? Have a good day.
You’re going to work. I’m going to work.”
We both going to work.
Crazy. We’re in the same parking lot. Going to work.
Going into work. Yeah. So um but actually that was um 20 when was what were the years I forget but during those years you don’t have to bring up because it might show my age but I was like doing a lot of social media and creative work for a nonprofit organization called the Puso Foundation and that like that role fell into my lap and something I was really passionate about and I was pouring a lot of my time into it like all volunteer work really and I was like dang girl like you are even during the pandemic I’m like I’m helping run these campaigns to raise like thousands of dollars for
like COVID rescue and then like um when there was a lot of like
uh natural disasters happening everywhere and like the goal of that foundation is to like not just ser serve the Philippines but serve any community that really needs us you know and I’m helping I feel like everyone in that foundation used their God-given gift to like make a difference. And I was like, “Okay, well, I know it’s just social media, but like we’re reaching out to these schools and everything.” Everything was virtual at that point. And I’m like, “Okay, cool. I think I kind of know what I’m doing on this, you know, and I was burnt out at that job.” Um, not to be dramatic, but I was like crying like once a week because I’m like, I’m really like not happy here, you know? And at this point, my dad had already passed and I was like, “What? Why am I being miserable here? I just seen my father’s life just like go and I mean, he was a hardworking man, but like he I’m sure he would have done something else, you know, to
if he could have. Yeah,
if he could have. And so I was like, “All right, Tessa, you got this was like July when I had made the decision.” And then I was like, “Hold on, hold on, hold on.” Like, “Let’s not just like quit. Um, let me do free photo shoots. Let me rack up a portfolio. Let me figure out how to make a website. Like get business cards, do all these things.” And then also, I was looking for other jobs at the time, too, like in the social media space. Um, but everyone kept saying no to me. So, I was like, “All right, after that, after all the nos, I’m like, “Bet. I know who’ll say you.
Myself.
Yeah. I was like, I know who say you.
Yeah.
Hell yeah. Hell yeah. [Laughter] That’s really it.
And like I was like, all right, let’s do it. Let’s run it. And then I did it. And then I for like three months, I gave myself three months to like boom boom boom. And then like October 2nd, Friday of 2020, I think that was the date. I left that job and never looked back. And I remember that following Monday, I was like, “Oh, man.” Like, “This is my life.” Like, “What do I do?” I woke up at like 6:00 am like, “I’m gonna go capture the sunrise of the city.” Went with my best friend. She went with me. She was so encouraging. Forgot my SD card at home.
Oh, no. This is it. This is This is the rest of my life. This is the rest of my life.
My life. Um, and I was like, “Cool, bro.” So, so I just took my phone and I took video. We went home and I was like, “Well, I’m never doing that again.” Yep. Like, you know, and like I only ever did that one time. That one time only for any shoot.
I just did that three weeks ago.
I was hopefully not for any.
It wasn’t anything. It was for me, but I was like, “Oh, this is this would be a great shot.” No memory.
Type [ __ ] Type [ __ ] Type [ __ ] Um, and then after that though, I was booked. I was doing like
because like a lot of people were doing alopments at that time like there’s there was not big weddings. I was doing small weddings, intimate weddings, elopments, family photos. People were like, “Okay, well we should probably cherish our family moments and take photos now.” So I was busy busy. And then um at that point I was also doing some like side work for my best friend uh Tisha Holland. Shout out to that hat. Hey,
got baby. But she uh I was editing stuff for her on the side and she’s like yo well I know you you’ve always been a creative so like can you help me I’ll pay you and it went from that transformed to I would fly out to LA every other month we would rack up on content I would come back just have a backlog of content and then it spiraled to like coming with her to events to then becoming like familiar with a lot of brands and pro players like you just become a familiar face the more you like go to these these things and then started building my own clientele because they would like
see the stuff I would take like pictures or videos of like just for myself and I would post and tag them and then when I would see them again they’re like yo I really like that thing you did like can I are you can I hire you know and that just I just built my own network that way and yeah like uh beginning of this year I kind of stepped back from doing full-time with Tish so that I could grow, you know, and
Yeah. Hell yeah.
So, in the last year, I feel in the last six months, I feel like I’ve been putting myself more out there, not just my work, but also my personality and like um found that like people want to work with me, not just for what I’m capable of, but because of who I am. So, that’s really been nice. But
she’s the dude who who’s taking the driver on a par three knocking shoulders off damn near. That’s the personality
on that.
You really did. But bro, I I didn’t want to I didn’t want to overstep cuz I was about to and I was like, she’s a grownup. But like
Oh, it was worse on Tik Tok. I took it down.
Oh, wow.
I got bullied. It went It started like getting viral on Tik Tok and you know, people on Tik Tok are mean like
Yeah. And they’re mean they’re even meaner to women.
Yeah. And I I was like, “All right.” Like I could Doesn’t matter if you explain yourself. Doesn’t matter if you have disclaimers. No one cares. They just they see what they see. Yeah. They see what they see, they respond and they feel emboldened to do such as if like uh stuck it to them and they go back to swiping.
For everyone watching, I there was a par three. It was like I they’re like it was a par three contest. They’re like, “Hit from the back te’s um at the Anteneo Classic.” And I was like, “Well, I can’t hit from the forward. It’s not going to count.” And I’m like, “Fork it. I’m just going to like do what all the guys are doing. And it was like maybe 180 from back there, but it was paying like two 210 with the wind.
Yeah.
So, I was like, “All right, let’s get the driver out.” I did not think because everyone was like wet
left and right, left and right.
Gone. And I was like, “I’ll try it.” And Jeremy, who was hosting it at the time, he was just like, “Tessa, just do it.” I’m like, “What if I hit them?” He’s like, “It’s fine. We know them.” I’m like, “All right.” And then Sergio from Grips on the Go, he was filming me and then he’s just like, “Go.” He’s like, he’s whispering. He’s like, “She’s about to nuke them.” Played. So, he’s like, “She’s going to nuke them.” And I’m like, “I don’t know. I might not.” And I went and then like
I mean, it was like a few feet behind them. I’ve been there before just last week at [ __ ] League. It’s It’s fine. Most And their response was more like, “She almost got that. Damn.” Okay.
Yeah. Like
so it’s literally the people who don’t know, which is like outside of our bubble. It’s the internet outside that loves to say some [ __ ] It’s our bubble was having the greatest time there. Shout out to the guys over at the nail classic. [Music] Uh fantastic. So, I met Tessa at the um Fairway Bat Soul event.
Um it was a dope ass event. Obviously, you’ve heard us talk about it a lot on this podcast in the past few months. So, because it was fantastic
cuz it was a thing to celebrate cuz it was the first time we met, bro. Like, that’s a core memory for me.
It’s a core memory for me and for the show. Um, but I actually like from just like seeing her post in passing, I was able to see Tessa and and Rody actually like operate. And the way like her personality is if you see Tessa, she’s she’s all of like 5’4, 53. And I think I is that too short?
Yeah. See, I gave her that. It’s cuz it’s cuz she got 6’3 energy when when you see her walk around, dog. Like
I said, daddy’s home. Yeah, she got daddy home energy.
Daddy home energy. But no, to watch her like operate around the course to like see how many people gallivanted to her just b purely based off her personality. Uh it was awesome to see because like I now see it a lot more on her post and I’m like, “Oh man, the people who finally get a chance to like know cuz like
she’s a G.” Like funny as hell. So I’m like super glad that you’re on this episode and we get to like
deep dive and peel back the layers of more of the post and more the person. So, um, appreciate you for doing it.
No, I’m really
hell yeah nervy. But like
me go like I when he puts a camera in front of me, I’m like I’m like forget Yeah. When I when I when I ran into Tessa at the Chicago Golf Show uh and asked her like, “Hey, your top fictional father, all that stuff.” Bro, so many takes. So many takes. Also, we we we caught I think we might have caught on camera a uh a racist
moment where uh some passer buyer was like, “Oh, yeah, you guys could be twins.” They were talking about another woman part of the Chicago Golf Gall. And Tessa and I look at each other like, “No,
no way.”
Kind of like Blair. Hey, y’all from Atlanta? Yeah, that like we got that on hold one or whole 10 at the event. So, a group behind us Yeah. was like, “Hey, y’all the dudes from Atlanta, right?”
And like a knee-jerk reaction. I was just like, “Why? Cuz we black.”
And he was like, “It’s a lot of black dudes here.”
There were only three.
Yeah.
Yeah. We looked at each other like, “It’s just us.” It was Yeah. Where?
I would love I would love to see another black dude. Please tell me where it is. But no, it was just awesome. So, like ever since then, we’ve been saying type [ __ ]
So, uh now you guys have the the inside joke to what type [ __ ] means to the podcast cuz you know type [ __ ] Type [ __ ]
Um but yeah, I’m like
type [ __ ]
Type [ __ ]
You don’t watch it all the time. It’s type [ __ ] No. So, we we talked a little bit about obviously that that viral semiviral clip on on TikTok. I’m very curious to know, we kind of talked about it at the at the event, you and I, Tessa, um that negative side of of golf on Instagram or social media. Um I would imagine that probably ranks at at the top of your pet peeve list of of golf.
Um what what else would be on that list of the golf content space that you just wish would not be? Mhm. I want to ruffle some feathers.
Hey, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Go ahead and go ahead and talk.
Some too if you want want me real start talking.
Go ahead. Talk and talk.
As much as you’re Yeah. Yeah. As much as you’re willing to share.
Wait. Ain’t naming names, but just like generalities. What’s the [ __ ] that you’re just like that’s an icking golf and we got to stop doing that [ __ ] Um, I would say like over sexualizing the golf space. Um, and like listen, I’m all about my girls getting their bag. Get your bag, you know? Get your own it. Own it. But to to to be like to act like that’s not what you do, you know? But like it’s like clearer. Like I get it. like you’re you’re manipulating a a maledominated field where like if you’re a hot chick, you know, and you can do a decent swing or a bad swing. Don’t matter. Your ass jiggle, I can see your ass cheeks. Sorry. Can I curse on here?
Yeah. Oh, girl, I I gonna say [ __ ] at least another like thousand times before the episode’s over. I’ll say it like a half that amount
cuz you’re half um
his Junth stopped at 3 p.m. That’s what I told everybody was mixed.
No, it didn’t. It started at
It started at 8.
Anyway, um what was I getting at? Oh, yes. Like, you know, it’s just it is what it is. And I mean, I get it. Some girls you don’t mean to even sexualize it. It just happens and that’s how they look at you. But you know, you know the people that do it.
And again, like I have no issues with that because it’s like that’s your that’s your um story you want to tell, you know, and that’s how you want to portray whatever. Um like I don’t really care. Like, but what’s annoying about that is like say you do want to just there are a lot of really good content creators that are golfers that are female that don’t do that that don’t get the recognition and the growth that they deser that I can’t talk that they deserve because it’s like that’s not the thing that people want to like follow or like
why would I want to follow an actual like why would I want to follow somebody who’s actually better than me at golf. Nope. I’ I’d much rather follow um Miss As Cheek and Miss Double D who’s just going to swing
and like slow motion swing for me. And and like you said, you’re right. It’s
It is a male dominated sport, but it’s also like these dudes are over overly sexualizing. Yeah.
Your local cart girl, my [ __ ] who is just like probably a 19-year-old, 20-y old girl working at the courts just to make money. and use odd ass 50-y old men are overly sexualized with these girls. It’s dumb with a man on a course and it it you know a lot of course golf terms are sexual.
Yes.
Like even if we don’t mean to like sometimes I feel like I have to mute just be mute because I’m like this is not going to come off right you know. And the second that you do let it go it’s it’s a cue for the one guy in the group. Oh my gosh. She gonna go for it. Yeah. Let’s all just No.
Yeah. let’s be a dog. Um, which I am a dog. Like I dog it out with my homies all the time. But like, you know, at the same time, I’m like, all right. [Music] talking about like the over sexualization and talking to the cart girl like you think you actually have that like they are out there to look for you look for true love at the golf course.
Oh my god. Old man who has this the normal KBS’s and spent way too much time on the golf course and has a 19 handicap. You are the guy who’s going to take me out of the hood the [ __ ] out of here.
Yeah. the guy that offered to buy me a fireball shot as he was ordering fireball shots. Like,
and you know, I really [ __ ] with you big time, big dog. You’re going to steal my heart leaving me a $2 tip. Oh, God. Make me make my knees quiver, sir.
Yeah. Like,
yeah. It’s like, oh, good God. The the dollar and a half tip. Jesus, it got me.
Yeah. There’s there’s definitely weird energy in the in the in the golf space with that. And I’m just like, why?
Yeah. I mean, it comes from both men and women. So, it’s not like I’m just calling out the people that do it or the people that call like
Okay, I’m
encourage it, but
can I and we can cut this part out if we need to. And this is the first time that we have a guest on who can like let us know if this is something that’s legit willing to be cut out. Is that is that like it’s on both sides a legit response or is that a created response mechanism because men have always been so misogynistic that women have to play an alpha misogynistic role in any space that has more men in it in order for them to feel as if they are equal and or feel that they aren’t being like attacked and or looked at. Like that’s just my thought.
That’s interesting.
So if the white man on the golf course, which is where they live is out there saying [ __ ] like that. It’s you can’t say that like women haven’t naturally over time created defense mechanisms that they’ve passed on. Hey, the only way to make sure these [ __ ] don’t say nasty [ __ ] to you, throw it out there first. Be dick grabby first. Like that’s really it. Yeah. You just You’re That was a my brain. I’m like, you’re right. I’m always the first one to actually make the comment almost. Not because Yeah. Not because I’m like trying to like egg it on, but I’m like, you’re already thinking it. [Music] Um, when did the creation of Chicago Golf Gals come apart? And, um, like what is that what is that thing moving forward for you guys? It’s like my whole heart right now. It’s I love it. Um, so they’re turning two. Chicago Golf G is turning two this month officially. And but I actually only met them a year ago. Uh, they re they have reached out like a few times here and there, but that was like when I was like traveling a lot that I wasn’t able to like meet up with them. serendip serendipitously. Um the founder, she was having her birthday at this golf simulator spot that I had my birthday there like two or like a month prior and they had been wanting to introduce us. So finally they’re like, “Oh my god, Ro is here.” I was like, “Oh my god, okay.” And she’s Filipino. So we we met and then like we just clicked and then like I love just taking girls to Indian Boundary and taking the boundary down between us and golfing. Like I feel like there’s no way to get to know someone than really freaking spending four and a half hours. Yep.
Um on a golf course with them. And so I went there because I met one of my other girls. First time we hung out was there. I’m like this is where I take all my first dates. So we took Ro there and like we played and like had a blast and we just clicked and in like in the last year like naturally well it’s great cuz she’s a type person like if she really believes in you she will put you on and she like was introducing me to like people in tr and like in the golf space in in Chicago that like I was like I never thought I would like um could get there or like deserved it and like found myself in these rooms and conversations with people that I was like, “Holy crap, like this is awesome.” And and then from then on I was it’s like one of those everything with CG is volunteer work and you get in or you get out what you put in, you know? And so throughout the last year I’ve just been like volunteering and like helping her out where I can. And just this past month, I got initiated as the director of brand development for them. So, we did we did a brand shoot today, which is why I’m freaking burnt.
So, what got you what got I mean, how long have you been playing golf? What got you into golf, though?
Cuz I see I mean, your swing is your swing is popping. Like, you got a good swing. You can you know that you know what you’re doing and talking about, but like what got you into it? Um, well, my dad tried to get me into it when he was when I was younger. He I just I learned like just recently like he got all like my uncles and stuff into it. It’s so nice cuz like now I’m into it, but I’m like I wish I was into it before. But I always thought it was so boring, you know? He’s just I’m like, “You’re falling asleep watching this on TV. There ain’t no way you like this sport. You’re a liar.” Like, you are a liar. and then drank the Kool-Aid channel and you wake up and be like, “Yo, I was watching that.
I was watching it.” Such a dad move.
Yeah. Like,
yeah, I was watching that. Like, no, you weren’t. Um, but really, it wasn’t until I started working in it. And then, so 2020 officially started working more into golf. I actually learned how to golf by editing instructional videos before I ever picked up a club. She’s like, “Here’s me teaching golf. Edit this, but I will tell you what to do.” And then like, you know, and so like so many of those videos I then started to like pick up like what to look for and what to do. And then um whenever I would be at these golf events, people would be like or like Top Golf be like, “Tessa, pick up a like hit.” I’m like, “No, I’m scared.” Also, I’m around all these like pros and really really good people. I’m like shy, you know, like. And so I’m like, uh, yeah, no, I’m not I’m not hitting. And then I was like one day I was just tired of like not I would like play around here and there and like try to do what Tisha taught me um and like the stuff that I would learn from editing and stuff, but like you know until repetition, you’re not gonna
be pretty for a while. And so July July 2022, I got in a really big fight with my mother over my dad’s golf clubs. Um, and I took them from the house and cuz long story short, she sold the ones that he got fitted for after he found out he was cancer-free. Um, so I was I like saw red because I’m like, yo, I wanted to cut those down and like keep it within the family. like this is the last thing that was like for him, you know, and so and I was like, you what? You sold the new brand new Titleless irons that were still in the box. Like I lost my mind and like I mean I apologize profusely after that, but like I like it hurt, you know? She really hurt me. And I left the house. I grabbed his old ones and I just went to the Versy Range and I said, “You know what? I’mma just hit. I’m going to play. I don’t care. three seasons, four seasons. One day, I swear when I played, I still have it on video. It stormed, it hur like tornadoed, rain, and it was hot. It was a whole thing. But I was like, and I enjoyed it so much. It was kind of scary at first because I’m like, this is my first time ever going to the range by myself, hitting these balls with full confidence that I really didn’t deserve. But I was going in and I was feeling my filming myself. And um then I was like, “Dang, I like this.” So I would go like three to four times a week
filming myself. And then I would like
just really for me to be like, “Okay.” Cuz I, you know, from editing videos, I knew what to look for. And then from then on, my swing just like kept progressing because I was just going all the time to when like I finally played my first like nine hole with one of my friends and he brought me on and I I remember hitting a freaking driver on a par three. And now whenever I see people do that, I’m like, “Go off. Go ahead. You’re swinging.” I’m like, “No, you’re swinging.” Hell yeah.
And um but I remember that first drive. It felt so nice and I was like, I ended up in the bunker. But I was so happy and then from then on like I caught the bug and I kept wanting to just get better and better and better. And now I’m like I don’t even practice anymore. I just want to play.
It’s no need to I mean it is a need to practice. Ain’t no need to practice, y’all. Get out there and hit them balls, man. Yeah. You know good by being on the court. Shout out to John Dailyaly. For real.
But yeah, um I love it a lot and it’s a like a way for really cuz my dad loved golfing. We grew up not too like pretty much on the golf course and like I’ve learned from my mom. She’s like, “Yeah, your dad would we would fight because once a week he would just not come home from work. he would go to the course and play and then come home and I’m like I didn’t know y’all were really good at hiding that but like and like you know if whenever people are like you know what’s your dream for my dad’s always on that list because like I wish we tried golfing once together at Topgolf. Oh, we going to fight.
Fought. Look at the ball. I’m like, I’m looking at the ball. Like, what do you want? And we I was like, this is not you cannot.
So, that’s probably that first day at the the driving range for you then, like all the thundering and hurricane. That was him like, I told you this is what you should have been doing the whole time. Now, sunny days. Now, go out there and finish playing golf. I love you, girl. I’m going to go back.
There’s a way for me to feel connected to him still.
Hell yeah. That’s that’s uh that’s what I hope to pass down to to Miari. Um is that there’s something hope I mean I hope it’s golf but she’ll find whatever connection it is that she’ll she’ll keep with me. Um so you’ve got two girl dads here on the show. Um this is kind of the main reason that I was really looking forward to having a non-dad on the show. Um, if you could give a girl dad a piece of advice to be a better girl dad or what that means on the receiving end of fatherhood, what does what would that one piece of advice be? Um, that maybe myself or or Blair or any of the girl dads listening can take um, as we parent our our daughters. Um, the first thing that pops up into my head is share your passions. Like I mean, you’re already doing it now, but really like because You know, I feel like the legacy you live uh you leave is like kind of what I’m feeling like, you know, I sharing your passion and whether or not they like it, like it’ll if they find it again, it’ll like bring help them feel closer to you still,
you know?
Hell yeah.
That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. That’s what I like. So, I’mma tell my wife that I’m a golf ball playing and I’mma make her golf.
So, mine is uh mine is a love for and dot dot dot dot, right? I’ve always just love sports. That was my connection to like friendships and and growing as a as like Blair was playing basketball, playing football, um learn how to play hockey.
You have right now that we’re talking and you’re not watching the finals.
No, I don’t care about that.
I’m all right.
Oh, okay. I got I mean my wife is if if anything crazy happens that [ __ ] pop at the door and that’s that’s also why I love that I married my wife cuz she’s a she’s a sports head.
U no actually hold on. What’s today? Thursday. No, that’s Love Island. Cuz she watching Love Island.
Yeah.
And you could be.
I know. We know. We gonna get you out of here. We get you. I’m curious.
8 p.m. My sister texted me at uh 7:59. She said Love Island. I said I can’t. She goes, “Hey, so we gonna get up out of here so she can get a love album with you. Don’t trip.” She said, “Li, so as as a person that hasn’t gotten into Love Island, I am definitely under that um veil of husband that sees their wife watching it and then I always remember the name like, wait, weren’t they just together?” So like, Exchool school me in Love Island. Why? Why is it such a craze? Yeah, I don’t I don’t have the I don’t have that bug yet.
You know, the great thing about it is it’s every day except for Wednesday.
A gift except for Wednesdays because we don’t watch Wednesday nights because it’s no one cares about um what is it? Sunset or Yeah,
they do the recap on Wednesdays. Like no,
you you’re watching it and you’re already debriefing with your girl after. I call my sister after every episode. It’s like, “We need to talk. We need a debrief.” But it’s like every day and you see you see like um like these relationships like grow, but like
in in in a way where I feel like like they say on the show like time is a lot faster there. Um because you’re really only have like a month and
and you got to date 19 people. New people, new people keep coming and you’re like, “Oh [ __ ] do I want to start a connection with that person because I think they’re a hot tamaley, you know, or do I keep this connection I already have because like I’ve already broken the barriers and they know I’m a mom.”
Now I got Now I got to do that all over again with this new guy. Although he is hot. I got you know
the one that I saw just what last week where homeg girl where you the voters and my wife her little savage ass they influenced a breakup.
A breakup [ __ ] A breakup. No. Imagine seeing your homeboy and his girl like so bad. Like the most toxic after 10 days. I know how to lose a guy in 10 days in front of you.
But that’s me as a husband. That’s me. Like I’m the dude who I’m like, “Why are you watching this schmut TV?” And then I’m like walk away and then next thing you know I’m like man is such a dumbass.
I [ __ ] hate Usman. 90day Fiance. All these all these negative Yeah.
Kate won’t remember names. I’ll remember because I’m I’m passively aggressively listening as I’m washing the dishes
and judging and I’m like why would he
why would he and then I would start named dropping and Kate’s like who are you talking about cuz she can’t be bothered to remember people’s names she’s a teacher
and I’m like and I’m like I’m remembering their names like why is Jonathan now like obviously these aren’t real people but I’m like why is Jonathan mad at Mave and this person I’m like what where did that like and she’s like Oh, you’re in it now. I’m like, yeah, I I I don’t want to be, but I’m in it now.
That’s why I know about the 90-day Fiance universe. [Music] Before we get you out of here, I I’m messy. I DM’d you after a post that you had posted.
I was waiting for it.
Who?
I don’t know anything about this.
So, yeah. So, she she was she was in a she was in a in a
Wait a minute. She was in a board space, right? And she was like, “Ask me anything.” And somebody was like,
I said, “Ask me something.” Yes. And I think somebody asked you like, “Who’s the who’s the one like celebrity or person that you met in this in the golf space that um like you can’t you don’t lie because you can’t stand or like what that was?” And you did a great job of like being a director. You directed the the the video perfect. You talked around a bunch of nothing and then right when you were about to say the person’s name, your video cut out. I DM’d you instantly was like, “Hey, [ __ ] Great job with the cliffhanger, cuz he clocked me so quick.”
I was like, “Great job with the cliffhanger, cuz this [ __ ] said, “Ask me on the episode.” So, who that is? I’ll never see this person. This person probably never see the episode. So, you This is the safest face. Who? Catherine,
right? Exactly. Who she acting like? Oh,
yeah. Who is this? act like a A-listister, but she’s like the daughter in Oh, okay.
Okay. She
Oh, damn. That Marvel money got to a dome piece.
And the first time we worked together while she was like playing in the group with Tish, she was like, “Um, I’m gonna just tell the story right here. [ __ ] it.” Um, if y’all have a second,
that’s I would love to hear it. Honestly, I’m sure Tisha is going to talk about this story somewhere some way. But okay, I won’t go into too much detail. But
yeah, let Tish do it. We’ll get Tish.
I want her to say her piece. But long story short, she goes, did you did you get that? I’m like, oh, did I get that? Oh, now you want now you want to talk about mamas. You know, like like he like Sorry, no correlation. Um, but
great great reference.
Crazy.
Great reference.
No, but you know that’s like that was the vibe. But I was like, “Oh, yeah, I did.” She’s like, “Oh, okay. Like, send me those later.” Like she was like so excited cuz she kept seeing. I was like, “Okay, I guess I’m okay. I’m cool to film you now, I think.”
Yeah. What?
We broke the third wall. Like, you know, we’re cool now. And so I’m filming whatever and the round ends. Fast forward. Tisha’s like, “Fuck it. I’m gonna make a Tik Tok.” It was like, “Come play this proam with me where with C.” She sunk 16y putts. That was the intro. And then it was just B-roll of her doing it and it went viral.
Oh wow. It went viral. And obviously her team, her PR team found it. She reposted that video on Instagram. Her, you know, when you save someone’s Tik Tok video, their handle pops up
with Tisha’s handle. I’m like, “Okay, cool. We f we’re cool. We’re friends now.
I mean, case in point, you said her name. We had no idea who you were talking about.
I said who twice.
Speaking half the truth. It’s not my story. Again, it’s not my story to tell the full story.
No, it’s all good. I just I just wanted to I wanted to finish the continuation of the the cliffhanger for the people who need
I did tell you I said ask me on the pod. You said
yes, I will. Little devil hands. Ask me on the pod. So,
no, it’s all good. So, I’m we we do appreciate you for coming on. I’m just I’m I’m I’m riding a high of of having our first non-dad guest on the show. I really am having a a non father but daddy
on podcasts really do like freak me out. But I feel like we we’re just shooting the [ __ ]
It’s a shop talk cuz like I try to tell people that all the time. We want to create a space where dads, upcoming dads and people who have the the view of fatherhood to come in and be able to talk about that exact thing. Um, it ain’t gota be perfect
to be your first nonf father.
Yes, it is. I mean, we totally totally appreciate you.
I am a mother. I’m a mother
to the boo boo. Listen,
I’m like, that’s so crazy. You see, my boo boos are naked. This is Lu James. Um, that’s cute. This is Birdie and this is Boie. I say what’s up cuz
like do I love golf? I mean do I
I don’t Blair I don’t know if I sent it to you

Yeah, I’ll take one.
Okay.
I’ll put it back here somewhere. Yeah, I don’t think I sent it to you, Blair, but I sent it to Tessa. Whenever someone shows me a picture of a labubu, it looks like uh the Grinch when he’s wearing the the Hulu.
You did send it to me, dude.
Okay. All right. Bet. I was like, you then you then you are the only two people I sent that to because you’re the only two people that I know who have Leoooo. So, there we go.
Well, with that being said, guys, we could have talked to Lil Says Tessa all goddamn day, but we we got to get her back to Love Island so she can get her thing going on.
Yeah. Y’all, the texts are coming through right now. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So, yeah, we get you up here. So, uh for Tess, there’s a POV on Instagram

Come and take a look behind the scenes. Superhero. I will never ever take a day off. Everything I do is all your little father time with me. You should try your little father with me with me.
