Check out Cliffhangers, a new par-3 golf course at Big Cedar Lodge

We love the Ozarks where we grew up and this is like the heart of the Ozarks in this area right here. And these views, that’s about all I know about golf is views and have a good time, happy time. And we just there wasn’t much land here. It started off John, you could tell them how this started.
Yeah. You know, we’re really proud of growing up here in the Ozarks and it’s steep, mountainous country. And uh we started this land to be a driving range for Payne’s Valley. And I give my dad all the credit because we started building it. He got driving around or walking around one evening at sunset and he looked at me, he’s like, “JP, this is too beautiful to have a driving range. We got to do a par 3 course.” So, we just went to work. How do we fit 18 paroles on this thing? And it just kind of worked in between the limestone cliffs and some rocks. And we think we’ve got 18 really fun, unique golf holes for guests to come play. Looks beautiful. Now, tell me about your golf games. Like I said, I think I almost uh caught you ace one there, buddy. I’m glad you repeated that. You sure did. I about had a heart attack when that happened. I play golf at least twice a year without fail, sometimes three times. I used to play in high school. I enjoy it, but I gave it up for fishing. That’s
I’m a real passionate golfer. I’m really passionate about the outdoors in general. So, hunting, fishing, and then in the summer months when there’s no seasons in, I’m on the links golfing. So, uh, it’s been just unbelievable getting to grow up around here on Big Cedar and get to work with my dad on cliffhers. We come out here a lot in the evenings after work and drive the team nuts moving dirt back and forth and, uh, it’s been a lot of fun in the process. My dad is all about his views and every golf designer we’ve had, it’s always been he’s always monkeying with them in their hair about, well, if we did this a little different, we’d get a better view. And so it’s been all him. And he picked out this green site here. And he’s like, “This is so beautiful. You can see everything around it.” And I really want to have a green here, but it wasn’t really safe cuz there’s other tea boxes right here below. So I came up with the idea about what if we just made it putting only. It’s really steep off the hill. And so all of our guests get to take two putts at it. We got two pens here. And uh we also have two tea boxes on the cliffhanger hole right here below us. So golfers have 20 chances for hole in one on their round. All about
all about having fun. So, like you drive the cart through waterfalls, you’re going to go in a cave. You get to hit through a waterfall where you get to putt on a crazy hole. We just want guests leaving, taking pictures, and laughing and having fun memories with a buddies. So, awesome.
The caddy tip on this one is go the left hole. You want to hit it pretty darn hard, like at least 30 yards at those construction times. If you go too far left, it’ll go to the right of that little hump and it’ll go to the front of the green. And then, conversely, if you want to go to this right pin, it’s really fast. You just want to barely get it over this hill and it’ll do the rest on its own. So,
appreciate it, guys. This is great. Appreciate. Thank you. Beautiful spot. Beautiful spot. Just have fun.

The newest addition of golf to Big Cedar Lodge is Cliffhangers, a par-3 course built on the side of an amazing rock cliff in the Ozark mountains.
