Defending John Deere Classic champion Davis Thompson has confirmed his all-boys PGA Tour frat house will once again be in full swing this week — with a strict “no WAGs until the weekend” policy in place.

Thompson is staying in the same rental as last year, alongside Denny McCarthy, Chris Kirk, JT Poston, Greyson Sigg, Patton Kizzire, and Ben Kohles — and even grabbed the same room that brought him luck in 2024.

The group plans to enjoy some early-week bonding before the families arrive after Thursday’s action, hoping the good vibes lead to another title.

said a lot of memories any in particular especially from final round.
Um honestly just uh you know looking back I feel like you know once I hit the fairway on 15 I kind of felt like the tournament was really in control. So kind of that sense of relief and then um just hugging my wife on 18.
Are you one who typically do you watch your rounds in the past year? Have you been able to watch this tournament back? Yeah. Um really just the highlights. Um yeah, it’s just uh it’s cool to kind of go back and watch that if I’m if I’m down or if I uh you know need a little confidence boost. It’s nice to go back and watch that. For sure.
Uh let alone your own parking spot here, but uh what was it like to see get your own bobblehead?
Yeah. Yeah, that was interesting. Um they sent me probably around 40 of them and I’ve got a bunch of friends already texting me they want one. So, uh, I’ll have to, uh, ship some out when I get home.
Um, I’ll have a few more, but I’ll open up to gentlemen out here.
Davis, just compare this to getting ready for other tournaments. You know, few more media obligations, just a few little more attention. What’s this week like compared to other weeks on tour for you?
Yeah, I mean, this is a new experience for me. Um, it’s definitely u, you know, pretty cool to kind of do this stuff. hopefully, you know, the goal is to do this stuff kind of every week, but uh yeah, it’s uh it’s cool. I mean, I, you know, haven’t had too many other obligations. Um but, um yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, just trying to prepare the best I can and get ready for Thursday. Davis, here comes the question. Um I talked to Denny yesterday about the house. I didn’t see him roll his eyes, but it I I could hear him. Are you guys is that a tiresome subject or do you guys just kind of kick it around and just enjoy the fact that it’s been such a a unique thing to to have three champions out of the same house?
Yeah, it’s uh it’s definitely unique, but um you know, we have a lot of really good players in the house, too. So, it’s a it’s a good percentage for us, but um but yeah, there’s uh seven of us this year um just playing a lot of uh dice and cards. So, yeah, it’s been fun. Uh, who’s staying uh this this week? Can you
um let’s see. It’ be myself, Denny McCarthy, Chris Kirk. Uh, let’s see who else. Me, Denny, Chris Kirk, um, JT Poston, Grayson Sig, uh, Patton Kazire, and Ben Kohl’s. So, seven of us. Yeah.
Good group.
Was it Are you staying in the same room?
I am. Yeah. Yeah. I got dibs. So, uh, I’m going to, uh, going to stay there again and, um, hopefully have some same results.
Uh, was there a little competition to get that that last room then?
No, not for me. Um, some guys came in Monday night, so uh, I was able to, uh, I came here Sunday night after Detroit. So, uh, I was able to snag it when I got here. Now, Denny mentioned that every now and then a wife will come by. How does that work? Is that is that breaking the the sank of the the code or the frat house or
No, I mean I I think that um you know Monday through Thursday is kind of like you know guys hanging out and then the the wives and um the family kind of come up uh for the weekend and then cuz some of them are getting on the charter to go to Scottish or um you know if you’re playing well they want to come watch. So it’s kind of you know after I feel like after Thursday it’s kind of you know families are welcome welcome to come. Okay. Thanks. You set the scoring record last year, so obviously something was working a year ago. When you’ve now you’ve been on the course for a couple days, you get a sense of you’re finding that again or kind of what was working last year that you can kind of translate to this year to this week?
Yeah. Um I feel like I’ve been doing a lot of really good things. It just hasn’t really come together for four rounds yet. of trying to just put four rounds together. Um, I’ve had a lot of good 9-hole, 12 hole stretches or 36 hole stretches and then just kind of nine holes or 18 holes will kind of get me. So, it’s been kind of frustrating, but just trying to put it all together and um, you know, I obviously have a lot of confidence on this course, so hopefully uh, that’ll translate into some really good scores this week.
Have the last couple of weeks helped you feel like you’re building some momentum uh, you know, T25 a couple weeks ago? Do you feel like you’re building the momentum coming in this weekend?
Yeah, I mean the the results have been, you know, okay, I guess, but um you know, when I look back at the big picture, I I’ve taken away some positives and there there have been some definite definite strides uh in my game in the past few weeks. You called your front nine uh at the Rocket Classic last week chaotic. You made three Eagles uh shot 32. Uh, how do you find more consistency and more level and what do you like about your game? What do you not like about your game right now?
Yeah, I mean that was a crazy nine hole stretch. Um, but yeah, it it’s just it’s just kind of tough. It’s just kind of the way it goes sometimes with golf. It’s it’s a fickle game and and you know, you can hit a lot of really good shots and not get the results you want. So, I I just for some reason it just hadn’t really clicked the past few weeks and I’m, you know, playing fine, but it just hasn’t been what I’m, you know, used to seeing. So, uh, you know, I feel like I’m starting to drive the ball better. I feel like I’m starting to hit putts more online and and uh just working on my reads and um yeah, just really working on the mental side of things, trying to, you know, not let anything affect me and and just stay positive throughout the round.
Talk about the golf course a little bit. What What do you like about this course? What can you attack here? Uh what do you remember from last year? Shots that you can hit that you like? Yeah. Um I feel like you have four really good opportunities with the par fives and um 14 the drivable hole. Um and then there’s some other par4s where you’re going to have wedges into the green. So I feel like it’s a course you can attack and you know playing yesterday I feel like they’re already a little firm and fast. So it’s it’s been uh it’s it should be uh should set up to be uh pretty good scoring conditions. Anything else from the group? Perfect. We’ll keep it short and sweet. Thank you, Davis.
Perfect. Thanks. All right. All right.
All right.
