Ian Paltera and his son Luke took center stage at Royal Sinway Ports as they competed in final qualifying for the Open Championship. Luke, a standout amateur ranked 51st in the world, started strong and reached four under through 11 holes to briefly share the lead. Ian, a veteran with 20 open appearances and a runner-up finish in 2008, got off to a difficult start, carding four over through nine. With only five qualifying spots available, both faced tough competition in the 36 hole format. The 2025 Open begins July 17th at Royal Portrush where defending champions Xander Shafale, Rory Mroy, and Scotty Sheffller headline a star-studded field. Friends, what is your opinion about this?
